@peachypetite we are good thanks, settling in to being a family of three. Quinn is generally a happy and content baby, she rarely cries or gets upset apart from the obvious reasons. She had lost more than 10% of her birthweight when she got weighed on day five so we've been given a feeding plan which involves breast feeding and formula top ups every three hours which has been quite intense. Initially I was just breastfeeding and I think because she was delivered early my supply wasn't in yet and took around day 5/6 to start coming in properly. She is gaining well now tho. She is just adorable I find myself staring at her for ages just totally smitten and feel so lucky that she is ours.

How are you doing?

I jump on the thread when I can to see how everyone is doing, can't wait for more baby news as everyone else starts to have their babies xx
So glad to hear you and baby are doing well x

peachypetite · 11/11/2020 13:34

@NaomiB79 lovely to hear from you! The exact same thing happened to my best friend who has just had a baby and she had to be readmitted to the hospital because it was over 10%. I have bought some of these to have at home: www.boots.com/sma-pro-first-infant-milk-from-birth-6-x-70ml-starter-pack-10277057 no need to sterilise or buy bottles etc just to have in during those early days.

Kj1010 · 11/11/2020 13:46

@jalu47 I'm Essex and partners not allowed to any scan or appointment only allowed in when 4cm dilatated or if ur having a csection and I do believe can only visit certain times of day it is a bloody Joke I agree can go work on train in shops mix with all other ppl but cant have ur one support with u at appointments scans etc or even at start of labour I really wish I wasnt high risk as I wud have a home birth for sure

Pinktruffle · 11/11/2020 13:54

@Jalu47 you're so lucky! I'm in the West Midlands and my DH is allowed for labour/C-section after 4 cm dilated and then for 1 or 2 hours after birth depending on hospital and no ward visits at all. I am really worried about how I'm going to cope.

EithneBlue · 11/11/2020 14:35

@jalu47 - Sounds like your hospital are one of the few sane ones around and it's really good to hear that some are maintaining sensible approaches! Bristol hospitals have all gone back to strict restrictions (basically partners can attend 12 week scans and labour/delivery only) - we were a Tier 1 area before lockdown (although shouldn't have been, really).

@Amyyy1 - I know: it's fully rubbish :-( I've been really frustrated by people basically saying "well it could be worse because..." as if it's some sort of race to the bottom - completely misses the point! Have you let your midwife know how you feel? Especially if you already have anxiety they should be equipped to offer some support - don't be afraid to push for that extra help if you need it.

I ended up stuck at the assessment unit all day yesterday because my BP was high at my appointment (life lesson: always take food and a book to any appointment, even if you think it'll be quick) and had a growth scan this morning because I was measuring small. All was fine, though (baby has remained on the same percentile as the last scans) - I think I was just stressed out and anxious (the midwife was laughing at me for having white coat syndrome because as soon as she left my BP went right back to normal). Back to waiting and bouncing on the ball - the experience has scared me into tidying the house today though as there was a moment yesterday when I thought they were going to suggest induction and my house is still a mess!

MsBee13 · 11/11/2020 16:31

Anybody feeling extremely tired in the afternoons? I'm 37+6 and comes 2-3pm, I have to have a nap for at least 2-3 hours! I feel so out of energy constantly and the most comfortable place for me is to lie down on the sofa.

Any of you feeling the same? X

Pinktruffle · 11/11/2020 16:35

I'm sleeping a lot @MsBee13. I'm the same gestation as you and I fall asleep around 1.30 on a night, I do have quite disturbed sleep but I'm waking up around 10.30 -11ish most days. If I get up earlier, I am usually ready to nod off for a nap around 4ish. If you are tired, rest as much as you can, we are growing small humans after all!

Kj1010 · 11/11/2020 16:40

I'm am absolutely shattered every day basically I get up at 5.30 am for work but if I'm not up for a piddle 3/4 times or woken due to being uncomfortable its my naughty animals disturbing me I try not to sleep in morning afternoon as make lsd me feel terrible bit if I do sleep I still feel tired and could quite easily go asleep again lol also does anyone know what maternity sal ad means on a wage slip I cant find anywhere all I no is it is a deduction of some sort as it has a minus then a amount next to it

MsBee13 · 11/11/2020 16:42

@Pinktruffle

I'm sleeping a lot *@MsBee13*. I'm the same gestation as you and I fall asleep around 1.30 on a night, I do have quite disturbed sleep but I'm waking up around 10.30 -11ish most days. I usually go to sleep around midnight and wake up around 8am. Maybe that's why. I can try to adjust my hours of sleeping as I really would like to do more stuff around the house before baby comes 🙈
peachypetite · 11/11/2020 16:47

I’m feeling knackered. Baby takes a lot of our iron at this point!

Jellycat2020 · 11/11/2020 16:51

I have been fine, until today when I just had an unscheduled 2 hour sofa nap! I'm really not one for napping but I have been struggling with hip and back pain in the early hours so not sleeping through properly. But then I fall asleep curled awkwardly on the sofa.... 🤔

Snowwhite2020 · 11/11/2020 17:03

I’m exactly the same ladies- tired all the time as of the last week or so and totally get what you mean about being able to sleep awkwardly on the sofa during the day and struggling at night! So bizarre.

peachypetite · 11/11/2020 17:05

I’m having a warm bath nearly every night before bed now which is a relief, I find the water so relaxing so fingers crossed for a water birth! I know what some of you mean about having a panic about not being ready. Despite months of growing this baby I feel like there will always be more things I wanted to do. But I feel better having done some batch cooking for the freezer and cleaning and tidying!

Dee96 · 11/11/2020 17:43

Do you think we will all be tested for Corona when we go into labour? I'm wondering if it will be compulsory or not the thought of being in agony and having someone poking up your brain doesnt sound very appealing

peachypetite · 11/11/2020 17:47

@Dee96 yep my hospital is testing everyone.

Pinktruffle · 11/11/2020 18:02

My hospital have said they will be testing both myself and DH. Infact as I know I'm in next Friday, I'm sure I was meant to be called in this week. I might give them a call.

As @Peachypetite said, I feel like I have been waiting my whole life for this, had lots of time to prepare but now it all feels like its coming too fast! God willing I will be a mum in a week and a days time, that's scary!

Snowwhite2020 · 11/11/2020 18:03

@Dee96 I think they will yeah plus the birth partners xx

danielasummer · 11/11/2020 18:26

Hi everyone, to those of you that replied about reduced movements - thank you so much, your advice really helped me out. Madness really that they discuss induction with you even if RM all turn out to actually be fine!

I am feeling suuuuper tired at the mo (36 weeks today) and even though I slept well last night (well enough for someone who woke up 9 times for a wee!) I still had an impromptu nap today.

With covid testing, I'm dreading this if my hospital makes me go through that when I turn up in labour! I have an awful gag reflex and I've also heard they stick it riiiiiight up your nostril.. not something I want to deal with when I turn up. What will be will be I guess!

Not long now ladies.... and I'm loving hearing the baby news already 😄

kkr168 · 11/11/2020 18:32

I specifically asked the midwife about covid tests, she said myself & DH will both be tested upon arrival. If a c section or induction is planned, then the test is done before that day, so they have your results on arrival.

Has anyone else been getting period type cramps? I've had them on & off all day, no pattern though, also getting alot of pressure down below! I'm 38 weeks tomorrow, hoping that labours coming but knowing my luck I'll have this for weeks & end up being induced again.

december2020 · 11/11/2020 18:59

Oh gosh! I can't believe how close it's getting now!

After working 60-70 hour weeks for the last 8weeks (it's been so busy at work) I finally have Thursday and Friday off and clocking off at a "normal time" today has me totally lost on what to do with all this extra time I suddenly have! So tonight I'm going to have a bath, non alcoholic beer and a face mask! And can finally do some house, baby and Christmas bits. Woohoo!

My scan and next consultation/verdict with the GD team is end of next week and I'm a little nervous. For anyone who was made to monitor their own blood sugar, for how long did they make you do this for? Is it a set amount of weeks or the entire pregnancy? I'm only on day 3 and my fingers are sore already.

LRHRN · 11/11/2020 19:13

For the last 9 months I've been really anxious at the thought of wiping after a wee and finding blood/pink and now I'm like a mad woman trying to convince myself that every wipe is slightly pink and it must be a bloody show and I'm dilating 🤦🏼‍♀️

I'm absolutely knackered too, I'm in bed now, I will sleep from about 8.30 until 6.30 (will get up 6+ times for a wee) and then will need a nap come lunch time, just can't shake it

Babyhope98 · 11/11/2020 19:19

@kkr168 I’ve been having period cramps they are getting stronger but only last a few minutes and no pattern.. I tend to get them in the night and after I go for a wee strangely..

phe694 · 11/11/2020 20:39

@LRHRN i for some reason have been the same when it comes to wiping, randomly thinking will it be pink/red 🙈 i seem to be lucky when it comes to sleeping, i fall asleep around 11 and wake up at 8am 🙈 and don't get up for a wee either 👀

Whatinthename20 · 11/11/2020 21:25

@Babyhope98 I get exactly this- the period type pain after peeing at night. Mostly in my back though, then it disappears after 5 minutes!

Amyyy1 · 11/11/2020 21:28

@EithneBlue Unfortunately they haven't been too good on the anxiety front of things as I'm not keen to go back on meds from all the bad side effects I used to have from them. They seem to be under the impression if I don't want them then I don't want to help myself rather than looking for alternatives🤷🏻‍♀️

@LRHRN I'm the exact same with wiping. I have been bouncing on my yoga ball like a mad woman though to try speed everything up so I don't need to be induced....

I've had a Covid test a few times with each time I've been in hospital through this pregnancy and it's honestly not bad!! I was so worried for it to the point the first time I cried beforehand and felt so embarrassed after when it was over in 10 seconds🤣 The nose swab does go quite far up but it's not painful at all, just slightly uncomfortable and makes you want to wrinkle your nose a bit afterwards😅
