@Kj1010 how have you found spinning babies?
My midwife and numerous other people suggested this to me but I found it really odd (baby was transverse) I was told to fill a shallow paddling pool with warm water and do a head stand in it 😂😂 I'm pretty sure that's physically impossible I'd of definitely broken my neck.
You've potentially still got a while for baby to turn, I was adamant my baby wouldn't turn and just before 37 weeks she did otherwise I'd of had a planned section too, she'd of been here now if that was the case as they would of done it at 37+4.
The consultant told me induction should be successful for me with it being my third baby but we shall see what happens.
Have you thought about ECV? That option really scared me.

EithneBlue · 19/11/2020 14:25

@december2020 congratulations! How dramatic but glad all was OK in the end. It's a good thing they checked you when they did!

@kj1010 Huh?

kkr168 · 19/11/2020 14:28

I was induced by pessary with my 1st born at 9am, had him the following morning at 2am, didn't require more pessary's or drips. It took my body forever to get to 4/5cm & then in the space of 2 hours jumped to 10cm & he was born.
I would happily have another induction but would love to have a spontaneous labour this time, although I will be having some help via sweeps if needed.

PipTed · 19/11/2020 14:36

I’m trying to avoid induction at all costs too, hense the frustration of a looming due date.

I want to know if you can have an elective c-section at 42 weeks too. Seems many inductions end in emergency c-sections anyway, so why the stress without your partner and so much artificial intervention when it can be over with?

If I haven’t given birth by 40weeks, I’ll ask my midwife.

excitednerves · 19/11/2020 14:57

@Kj1010 and @kkr168 good to know there are some positive induction stories too. I guess you just don’t know how it’s going to go until it happens.

LRHRN · 19/11/2020 15:05

For the ladies whose waters fully went what did your bump feel and look like?
Midwife sent me home yesterday as she couldn't be sure my waters had broken as she couldn't get to my cervix and to keep an eye on it but today and yesterday I've been very damp below, which I've put down to watery discharge and my bump now looks half the size and is really squishy almost just like a fat belly. Baby is already fully engaged and back to back and has been for nearly 2 weeks now so I don't think it's a change in position cause surely if shes turned the right way (back to my belly) my bump will be bigger??
I've phoned triage and asked if this is normal and tried to explain what had happened yesterday and she was quite dismissive and stopped me talking and said "will you let me speak"
All she said was baby may of turned back to back so I won't feel as much of her body but she was already back to back 🤔
I've measured my bump (pubic bone to top of fundus) it's now measuring 35weeks when I've always measured for my dates or a week in front 🤔

EithneBlue · 19/11/2020 15:10

@LRHRN - That's terrible: how rude of them! Phone back: your instinct is telling you something is not quite right - definitely insist on being seen again. Go in and refuse to leave if you have to.

LRHRN · 19/11/2020 15:14

I was abit taken aback that she actually said that, it wasn't until I put the phone down that it clicked what she had said
@EithneBlue

confused107 · 19/11/2020 15:17

Just catching up on all the lovely posts, and had to say @LRHRN that doing a headstand in a paddling pool just made me Lol. I've just hoovered upstairs and feel like I've competed in an Olympic sport 🤣

confused107 · 19/11/2020 15:26

Sorry @LRHRN after I posted a load of others popped up and I can't believe what they said. Definitely call again or go in if you are unsure, hopefully you will get someone different who is having a better day!

Interesting to read about the inductions. I have been told that due to the fact that I'm 39, first baby on the smaller side and IVF I will be induced on or before my due date. I'm back next week at 39+1 for scan, consultant and the date for induction. I'm terrified of spending days in pain on my own then ending up with a section anyway so tempted to ask for a section, more so after what I've read, and with the Covid situation it will be better to know my husband will be there with me. But then know I will recover quicker if I can deal with the induction.

Amyyy1 · 19/11/2020 15:55

Terrified of being induced also so it's nice to hear a different more positive side of them @kkr168 @Kj1010

Since last night where I wasn't sure it was my waters breaking I've had nothing else nor any other signs so think I got excited for no reason ☹️

Asianchick6693 · 19/11/2020 16:20

I on the other hand have been very dry down there. Keep waiting to see some sort of mucus plug coming out. Today for most part I've felt normal just exhausted, nervous for the night that's to come as my contractions seem to prefer to pop up then!

How are you all eating? I've had dates and micro chips for breakfast how random! Spaghetti hoops for lunch and just had some fish fingers now. Not the best food to be eating but it's easy and can't seem to want to eat anything else anyway!

kkr168 · 19/11/2020 16:25

I keep seeing the reason for mainly being against induction is having to do it alone & I am so angry on all of your behalves, my hospital is allowing partners through out the whole process & I am so thankful for that.

It should be 1 blanket rule across all hospitals that 1 birth partner be allowed throughout, its not like covid suddenly isn't contagious once your 4cm dilated!

Amyyy1 · 19/11/2020 16:32

@Asianchick6693 I've had a bowl of coco pops and that's all I can manage so far, some days I will eat lots and lots but the past few I've gone off a lot of things, I'm not too sure why!! When's your due date again??

LRHRN · 19/11/2020 16:38

For my induction my husband can come in for the consultation but can't stay for the pessary part but that's standard nothing to do with COVID but if my waters can be broken straight away he can stay the whole time and for 2hrs after the birth so I'm hoping for the latter

Asianchick6693 · 19/11/2020 17:05

@Amyyy1 bless you I know the feeling I've had morning sickness which all of a sudden stopped at 36 weeks. I really thought I was going to have it all the way till the end.

I'm due 6th December. I'm 37+4, just have this gut feeling she's going to be here soon. I don't know though. I just feel different compared to how I've been for this whole pregnancy like my body is just preparing.

Pinktruffle · 19/11/2020 17:18

Thanks for the chewing gum tip @peachypetite, I will definitely try that.
You can request a C-section at any point in your pregnancy or birth, and in theory that request should be respected as you have a right to choice etc.
Epidural is amazing, my contractions were AWFUL. Having the spinal and the pain going away was just, well I can't describe it! Mine was a very calm emergency section due to the time and no one else being around and baby only being in mild distress rather than it being a 'get the baby out this minute' situation. However, I'd take the discomfort I'm in now over the contractions any day of the week. I know for me the labour was absolutely awful (probably not helped by my mental state as it did 'take me back' which is what I wanted to avoid).

excitednerves · 19/11/2020 17:26

@Asianchick6693 I’m exactly the same! I’m due on the 5th and just had what I hope will be my last consultant appt. they couldn’t measure her head because she’s so low and I am so ready to give birth now.

The dr make an appointment for the 10th Dec to discuss induction so I feel like the race is on now to beat that deadline!

loobeelou · 19/11/2020 17:26

I had an epidural with DS after being put on the drip because I wasn't dilating. I think it helped me to relax (as much as you can in labour) and I finally dilated and gave birth. I will have one again this time if the need arises!

Asianchick6693 · 19/11/2020 17:33

@excitednerves good luck!! I've got GD and also she was measuring small at her last growth scan so they did mention an induction if things hadn't changed but hoping my LO arrives before it comes to that!

excitednerves · 19/11/2020 19:51

@Asianchick6693 my little one is also measuring small. Fingers crossed they both arrive before our induction chats!

Amyyy1 · 20/11/2020 07:03

How did everyone's night go?? Any more signs?? Can't help but feel so hopeless every time I wake up and nothing more has happened!

PipTed · 20/11/2020 08:03

Nothing here. Seriously fed up, getting myself in to such a state, which won’t be helping anything. 😑

kkr168 · 20/11/2020 08:28

Nothing here either, heard a pop whilst readjusting on the sofa last night, jumped up thinking my waters would follow but nothing, guess it was just my hip or pelvis cracking 🤣

excitednerves · 20/11/2020 08:51

Nothing here either. Just an uncomfortable nights sleep. I started expressing colostrum this morning and the Braxton hicks afterwards were unreal. Hopefully this might kickstart something.
