I’m over 40 and got pregnant 3 months ago after a miscarriage two months before that. It is perfectly possible. Good luck.

TheFoz · 26/10/2020 15:42

I’ve just turned 42, I had three losses in the last year. Currently 20 weeks pregnant and all going smoothly.
Where you are is a bloody tough and lonely place to be. I’m sorry you have found yourself there. Have you other children?

KinderWild · 26/10/2020 16:00

I'm 41 and currently 14 weeks. Harmony fine. Just waiting for the 20 week scan to see how successful this pregnancy will be.
Pregnant naturally, following the vitamin protocol from 'it starts with the egg', it's meant to optimise egg quality. I had previous miscarriages but they were down to a blood clotting disorder.
Good luck xx

LittleTiger007 · 26/10/2020 16:05

My miscarriage in June was very hard to get over as I thought it was my one last chance as I was 47. However, we got pregnant again naturally soon afterwards. I’m old and so I know the risks, but I’m very hopeful. I hope you get some good news soon to help ease your broken heart.

Sef89 · 27/10/2020 11:47

I am 40. 2 previous losses in the last 18 months. 1 at 3 months and one at 4+4.
Just found out I am 6weeks pregnant. Don’t lose hope.

Emmmie · 27/10/2020 12:02

I am 40 years old, 23 weeks pregnant. NIPT and 20 week scan all perfect. I also feel great; Much better than 19 years ago when I was pregnant with my first. All the best OP.

MariaDingbat · 27/10/2020 12:26

I'm 40 and lost two last year (5 weeks and 9 weeks) when I was 39. I'm currently 34 weeks with a very wriggly and healthy baby so far. The Harmony test came back fine, 20 week scan was good too. I'm under consultant care as I have an autoimmune disease and GD, but otherwise it's been a textbook straightforward pregnancy.

All three of my pregnancies were natural conceptions and I also did the 'starts with the egg' vitamins that a PP mentioned as well as taking progesterone pesseries for the first 16 weeks on the advice of the recurrent miscarriage consultant. I don't know if those two things helped, but they haven't hurt. Good luck!!!

I miscarried at 6 weeks after trying for a good year and got pregnant about 2 months later when I was 41. Normal pregnancy. Don't loose hope.

I’m 40 and 7 weeks pregnant despite taking the morning after pill!! Confused

GanderousGoose · 30/10/2020 11:41

I'm 40 and 7+4. Completely understand your anxieties - like everyone here, I'm well aware of the higher risks. I had a chemical in early August and early September and then got my BFP early October, all natural, just used an app to track for those three months. Would be great for this to become a support thread for 40+ pregnant ladies. I know there are others but they're often well-etablished and hard to break into.

Sef89 · 30/10/2020 12:18

Hi @Sef89. Me!

I have an 11 yr old but had a terrible time conceiving my almost 2 yr old. 3 miscarriages in a year at 40, I really thought that was it for me.

3rd miscarriage was 15 weeks before our wedding and we were distraught. 3 weeks later I felt a bit sicky after a glass of wine, and turned out to have conceived 1 week after!

DS was just turned one when the sicky feeling returned, and I now have 2 boys (we weren't trying) - almost 2 and 11 weeks at 43.
I'm knackered Grin

I did take baby aspirin ttc DS1 and from the second I found out with DS2. Both were times we weren't actually trying, and one offs around day 8 instead of the day 14 I'd been aiming at. Gestational diabetes's with both but otherwise very smooth sailing.

Hi @Sef89. I took seven seas trying to conceive every day. We had the miscarriage in June, management two weeks later in July. After about a month I started testing for ovulation again as I am so irregular with periods. I’m perimenopausal and haven’t had a period since 15 months ago!! (I know, I won’t be told it’s impossible and it was a miracle! A lot of praying and faith involved too!) So in late August the clear blue ovulation showed a flashing smiley face and it looked like I would ovulate again. It didn’t stop flashing for the next five days. Anyway we made love on the first day of this time. (Sperm can live for up to five days) that’s all we could manage because husband was working crazy 12 hour days and odd shifts and he was shattered. Anyway it worked. Back in April someone sent us the book ‘Supernatural childbirth’. (thin small book, Amazon) This may sound crazy, but for me I know this pregnancy is a miracle. This baby has been prayed over every day since then. I’m 11 weeks pregnant now.
Sef89 · 30/10/2020 12:33

Limplettuce did you need surgery for any of your miscarriages. And only dtd once you say......

OP posts:
LittleTiger007 · 30/10/2020 12:35

I also did need surgery after the miscarriage and I know this helped. They inserted a camera and found a large fibroid and endometriosis. They removed the fibroid and scraped away the endometriosis. I conceived the next cycle - apparently the fibroid was likely the cause of the miscarriage.

Sef89 · 30/10/2020 12:37

Littletiger007 was that a hysteroscopy.....

Tempusfudgeit · 30/10/2020 12:38

DS1 at 39, DS2 at 40, DD at 43. It's doable, if knackering Smile

LimpLettice · 30/10/2020 12:41

Yes, only once. Both times! DS2 we'd not dtd very much at all just due to lack of sleep etc. So was a real shock.

No surgery, all 3 were fairly early and passed quite early on their own.
