@Leok83 @scrumdiddly123 @MilsCookie thanks so much for your kind words. Really means a lot. Only one week to go until the scan. Am doing my best to stay relaxed, even though it doesn't always work and the stress and anxious feelings take over!!!

@BS9790 I had a c-section with my first. Wishing you all the best for today. A good tip that someone gave to me, is to have a cushion in the car to put under the seat belt for the journey home....it made so much difference! Also, something that nobody mentioned to me was how common it is to get trapped wind in the days following the surgery and weirdly you feel it in your chest/shoulder area! Keeping moving (slowly and gently) and drinking peppermint tea really help xx

Good luck today @BS9790, can't wait to see your news!
Good luck with your appointment too @ChampooPapi
So pleased you had another good appointment @MilsCookie, let's hope they stay cooking a little longer!
Hi @Bea11 and welcome! Hopefully you will find lots of comfort in this group.
With regards buying stuff, its really personal preference. I made a big list and researched some of the bigger stuff (pram/next to me). I bought the pram around 24 weeks and then nothing for ages. I wasn't really comprehending that I may bring a baby home - still not really! But it did help me get excited once I got over the first hurdle.
I would definitely recommend making a list and just picking off bits as you go. Check lead times for prams, mine came next day but others had months on them! Lockdown is also a consideration I suppose, you might not be able to get to physical shops later on. I'll still probably buy a few last minute bits like @champoo has been doing - and those c section pants look amazing!!

Thank you for your support and thoughts ladies 🥰

Well the consultant last time said if they had declined any more on their growth trajectory or any more increase in fluid then they'd be taking them out this weekend. So both these things have happened, my twin 1 is now on the 3rd centile dropped down from the 9th or something and has more fluid then last time. And the other twin has dropped centiles too, but no dice! Apparently they are too fully booked and unless my waters go at this stage or some kind of other emergency type situation I am to hold tight until the 6th, so next Friday.

It upsets me that they worried me at every application the last 8 weeks about this exact issue, then when it's crunch time they are like 'its fine!'

I mean what was the point in even doing all the growth scans then!

Steroids tomorrow and Saturday and pre opp stuff so busy weekend, then it'll be next week and home straight so got to roll with that 🙏

I think if I had the same consultant as last time I may have been bumped for tomorrow to be honest, his exact words were 'if they go down any more centiles we will take them out the next day from the growth scan on Thursday'.

Fuck it, got to keep the faith and at least I won't be bumped on the day unless there is an absolute emergency, twins are priority they said so first in on the morning of all the sections that day

@ChampooPapi
Sorry to hear. This sounds odd. As you say what's the point then in worrying you and the monitoring if they re not acting?
Could you ask for a second opinion or push for an earlier c section?
Is this not an emergency?

Sending hugs 💕

@ChampooPapi grrrr I HATE it when different doctors say different things!!! This has been my experience the whole way through. One will say something and get you all worked up and worried, and another will say something different and it goes against the other one. The good thing is that they're not seeing it as an emergency though and your girls get to stay in for a bit longer (although I know you must be desperate to meet them now!) and really good news that you'll be the first c section of the day. So it's the 6th now not the 5th? You'll have to let me know what they do for you in terms of steroids/pre-op stuff because this will be me in a couple of weeks!!

Hope you're feeling okay though and not too disappointed. It's reeeeeeally not that long to go!!! 👧👧🌈🌈

@SunnySideUp2020 and @MilsCookie thanks ladies, I appreciate your understanding and support. @SunnySideUp2020 yes they absolutely said it would be an emergency situation if they dropped any more centiles at this appointment, but apparently now it isn't 🤦🤷. Obviously if they thought they were about to spontaneously combust or something then they'd be whipping them out so sure there has been some meeting (we hope) where it's been discussed and it's best/fine they stay in, so got to trust the professionals, and I always do normally. I am a layman who knows nothing really about any of this and they are the medical people so I do feel secure that they would be out by now of anything really bad was going on. It's been these 2 weekly growth scans with conflicting information. @MilsCookie you hit the nail on the head, I mean you've been on the receiving end of being told one extreme to the next as well far more then I have, or just different consultants approaching and making decisions completely differently that come to nothing because you see someone else the following week.

The NHS is incredible and the pressures they are under is just unimaginable so I am always grateful for the care I've received, but today I had a crumble with the confusion over anything else of it all. They have also changed my section and all my appointments twice due to over booking but that was last week 😆 when I was more of a 'person' so I could deal. I've definitely now just hit the wall mentally, hormones, belly stretched beyond belief, vagina.... Well the less said about that the better 🙄

Arrhhhhh!

I needed to vent that, but my new final date is the 6th of November so least I get another list in, but now bonfire night babies now sadly, just fireworks the night before my section 😂

@Whiffle77 are you pretty much set baby things wise then now? Have you gone for a change table? We just set ours up and my tiny kettle arrived, #noregrets 😆

Will do the snuzpods the day before the section, the bloody things will become a climbing frame for my giant toddler otherwise.

I can't remember if you were doing a nursery? I vaguely remember some kind of painting way back in the midst of time but my memory isn't the greatest currently

SunnySideUp2020 · 29/10/2020 18:34

@ChampooPapi
Novembre 6th it is then 🙂
How will you arrange your snuzpods? One next to you and one next to your DP?

We went to check some prams today a si have a feeling the non essential shops will close soon.
Was so exciting!!! Although i found you need a degree to fold and interchange stuff etc 😅😅

Report
ChampooPapi · 29/10/2020 18:47

@SunnySideUp2020 when you don't know how to fold a pram or stroller it definitely seems humanly impossible to work out! I nearly wept once trying to fold a silvercross pram with a crying baby for background music 🤯. We will set up the pods both at the foot of the bed otherwise I'll get completely trapped post c section. First week or so my friend said that because you can't sit up unaided or bend much ect if you put the pod right next to you the only way to get out would be to worm on your back down the whole length of the bed, and then slide off the end, though you'd probably need a helping hand when you even got to the end of the mattress. After I am more mobile I'm thinking maybe 2 on one side, or just leave them at the end? I could have one on each side, that potentially would be the most practical. It'll be a suck it and see situation!

ChampooPapi · 29/10/2020 18:51

Obviously if you have no partner next to you , one can roll out the other side of the bed

Ah @ChampooPapi sounds like a tough day for you! You must be so fed up. At least the end is in sight for you, can’t believe your babies will be here so soon! Hang in there 💪🏻😘

ChampooPapi · 29/10/2020 19:26

I can do with women like you @scrumdiddly123 backing me 💪. I'm usually pragmatic and see the bigger picture in these things but this morning I lost my head totally and just cried when I got into the car (I may of also cried behind my mask when I was being scanned because I was just so fed up, but that's just between us!).

It really isn't long until next week, my belly is just so itchy and sore it has made time slow after it wizzing by the last few weeks. The last 48 hours it has been a nightmare, but I've got some steroid cream and it has given some relief, which is enough and all I need to kind of function vaguely and get through the day to day now. The itching was exquisite. It's call pappp, so bloody painful, worse then my last labour, I kid you not.

How are you getting on this half term so far? How is your eldest settling into secondary school? I really hope they keep schools open if we go into another lockdown 🙏

Report
scrumdiddly123 · 29/10/2020 20:16

@ChampooPapi that sounds awful 😖 pleased the steroid cream is giving you some relief. My mum told me the last few weeks carrying me and my sister were horrendous- she had us naturally at 37 weeks and said the last week or so she had to sleep in a chair as she was too big to lie down! I can’t even imagine how uncomfortable it is having 2 in there so hats off to you!
Half term has whizzed by, I think because I start my new job on Monday so this is my last week of freedom 🤣 my eldest has really settled into secondary school thank you, he loves the independence of it, especially going to Costa after school with his mates! There’s been a couple of Covid cases at his school but none so far at the younger twos primary school. Same as you I really hope schools stay open as long as they can x

@fireflygirl congratulations to you all! And hope you're both well 🥰

@SunnySideUp2020 I'm 22+1 now and I put a deposit down on my pram on Tuesday.. other than that I've not actually bought anything! Think we're close in dates too...! I'm however panicking now that I've left things til last minute..!

Just caught up on all the replies now! For some reason I don't get notifications anymore so days slips by 🤦‍♀️

That's SO annoying @ChampooPapi and so frustrating that you get told one thing and then they completely go against it. However the end is near!! I hope this next week goes fast for you..!

Oh god @ChampooPapi what an absolute pain!! My last consultant appointment said very different things to my appointment before, its so frustrating! I left having no clue what was going on! I guess you have to trust in them, if they were really worried like you say they would get them out immediately. You can ask more in your pre op and other appointments maybe. Its really not long though, one week! Eeek! Hope you are feeling better today.
Yes I think I have most stuff. Will def do some extra browsing once I've finished work tho... I bought a cot topper from asda in the end for about 20 quid which looks good! We did do a nursery, helped me feel lots more prepared even though they won't use it for ages Smile
You've def not left it too late @mlax don't worry! It doesn't take long once you get in the flow of it.

So ladies, I've had a roller-coaster few days. My period pains on Wednesday were actually labour, I arrived at triage at midnight on weds at 3cm but progressing very quickly.
The doctor who was on ward (who I've seen during pregnancy) suggested continuing with natural labour was safest choice.

Baby Isaac was born yesterday at 11.25, weighing 8lb 9.5oz. I'll share a Short version because tbh it was horrific. 10cm by 7am... But not born for another 4.5 hours. Spent 2 hours sat in birth canal, over an hour pushing, then forceps for nearly an hour which kept not working, was being prepped for emergency theatre when offered one more go.... Managed to get him out then! Spent over an hour being stitched up. His poor face is black and blue with a big abrasion on his cheek. I've had major blood loss, waiting on an iron transfusion this morning. Got to stay in until at least tomorrow as expecting baby to be jaundice .. Moral of the story.... Stick with your oginal plan and don't listen to the new doctor 😂😂

Hi everyone , hope I'm in the right thread. I found out this morning I'm pregnant. I had a missed miscarriage last month and had a d&c on the 10th of September. I've had negative tests on the 28th September and the 12th of October. Never got a period in between the d&c and the positive test. Has anyone any advice on what I do? Will epu see me for a scan? Or do I wait till 12 weeks? Thanks again

@Whiffle77 in my head I'm like once Christmas is out of the way it's all going to come round super fast! Going to make a start on getting more bits and ticking off as I go though!

@BS9790 oh wow!!!! Congratulations to you all 😍🌈 sounds like an intense labour but I'm so glad he's here safe. Hope you're also doing well lovely!!

Welcome @Boymama89. So sorry you've also suffered a MC previously. I'm not entirely sure if EPU will see you as I conceived 7 months after my MC so not sure how it works. Although I'm sure some of the other ladies in this group may be able to. Congratulations also 🥰
