TerribleImagination · 15/01/2021 15:20

So not the best update after my sweep, but not the worst... but looks like I’ll be seeing my induction date, which is now booked for a week today at 8am 😐

Midwife said my cervix is still high and firm, around 2-3cm long but 1cm dilated. She was able to get 1 finger in and touch baby girl’s head, so she gave it a good stretch. So from that I’m preparing myself for the induction. Plus side is that, providing my observations are ok on the day, the first step would be the 24 hour pessary as an outpatient, so I’d still have a chance at labouring at home and a water birth. BUT I know that my birth will be whatever this baby girl makes it, so as long as she gets here safely I’ll make peace with however that is.

mlax · 15/01/2021 16:07

Sorry it wasn't the news you were expecting @TerribleImagination. Even if it doesn't go as you had hoped, I think by then you'll just want her here! I know I'm already at that point and I'm nowhere near close to my due date (6 weeks and 4 days away 😂) but I do hope that she gets a wriggle on so you can have the labour you want!! Xx

ChampooPapi · 16/01/2021 11:49

@Leok83 I can't believe your over 30 weeks now! Sorry I'm being so crap with responding on here but I thought your message to me about my twin descriptions was so lovely. Ihope your coping ok with everything your end, when is your maternity leave starting? Spring babies are the best, my eldest two girls are march babies, these November twins have been a bit of a mare, picking up a few colds already even though we go nowhere!

ChampooPapi · 16/01/2021 11:50

And splendid bumps ladies 😍💃

Leok83 · 17/01/2021 11:39

@ChampooPapi oh don't worry at all about not replying..I can't imagine how you get time to do much at all with not only twins but 4 little ones! It seems crazy alright I'm over 30 weeks..it now seems like time has been flying by even though it definitely had times where it seemed to drag by! Starting to get all my bits for hospital bag and washing the baby clothes so getting very real! I've only 4 more weeks left at work 😁 my replacement is starting tomorrow so I'll prob find it hard over the next few weeks handing over my cases (the control freak in me will struggle😄) but I'm definitely looking forward to the rest before baby comes! My feet are crippled with plantar fasciitis which is a bloody pain as otherwise I'm feeling great and it's really slowing me down. I hope the twins colds don't get too bad..definitely the downside to winter babies. Can't believe they're over 2 months already now.you are almost at the 12 weeks and hopefully more sleep☺️

MilsCookie · 17/01/2021 22:06

I don't think I'm ever gonna be able to catch up now with previous messages cos I've left it too long 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm sorry if I haven't directly replied to anyone!

@Leok83 I suffered with plantar fasciitis towards the end of pregnancy and I still have it now 😖 along with diastasis recti and a very weak core in general! I bought the shoe insoles to help with the plantar... I've only just started wearing them though so can't say if I've noticed a difference yet! So exciting to be over 30 weeks now... there's a light at the end of the tunnel!

@TerribleImagination sorry your sweep wasn't what you expected... will be keeping my fingers crossed your little girl makes an appearance before Friday! 🤞🏻💕

@ChampooPapi I loved reading your twin update ❤️ we're still doing shifts with ours but we've noticed these last few days that they've been quite unsettled in the evenings... between 9pm - midnight which is actually DP’s shift, but I’ve ends up having to help him at times cos he just can’t deal with two screaming babies at once 😅 hoping it’s just a phase! I’m trying to do a routine but it’s more for me than them at this point, and of course I let them eat and feed when they want to. I love the idea of Gina Ford’s routine but she expects them to be awake an awful lot, and as mine are only 8 weeks tomorrow (and only 2 weeks corrected age!) it’s just too much for them. I’m looking forward to trying a proper routine and encouraging them to sleep through the night though when they’re a bit bigger. These next few weeks are probably gonna kill me haha! The girls are doing really well though. At their last weigh in Frankie was 9lb 7 and Georgie was 7lb 5. So the gap between them is even wider now cos F LOVES her food! 🙈 We’ve noticed they’re looking around a lot more now and we are even beginning to get some genuine smiles which is so so amazing! I cried when Frankie smiled for the first time in response to me doing something ridiculous right in her face haha!

On another note... my lochia finally stopped at 6 weeks and I’ve just noticed today I’ve had EWCM and had some ovulation type pains as well. It’s so weird that these things are instantly recognisable to me now after being hyper aware of any symptoms when ttc! What are those of you who’ve had babies doing in terms of contraception? It’s crazy to think about it again after being off it for so long! It just feels mad to me that I’m actively wanting to prevent pregnancy again after trying sooo hard to become pregnant! Just feels wrong haha but we definitely don’t want anymore just yet!! I am thinking of getting the mirena coil and wondered if anyone had had it before/would recommend it?

Sorry for the long post! Sending loads of love to you all 💕

SunnySideUp2020 · 18/01/2021 07:21

@TerribleImagination
Did the midwife offer another sweep before induction?
How are things after the weekend?
Hope you are ok x

@MilsCookie don't worry about not replying. I don't think anybody takes anything personally here 😆 we do our best! This is a support group. And you have an awful lot going on with your girls!!!! Glad to hear they re putting on weight and smiling 🥲

@Leok83 i also suffer from plantar fasciitis. Started a week ago. It's between -10/ -20 degres where i live and snowed on all the time (eastern Europe) and the problem is to be able to move a little i need to walk but to walk safely i need the snow boots but i can only tolerate my running trainers !!! So i now do shorter 20min walk in trainers in the intense cold. And it has honestly gotten so much better. I think the cushioning in the shoes we wear is super important when heavier.
Good luck with the replacement! Keep cool :)
Make her do the running around.

The contraception thing after birth is crazy to think about.
Baby isnt born yet but DH suggested we try straight away for the second as it took us a while first time. But i was like hmm nope.
So we also need to figure this one out soon.
I had a coil before but it was a copper coil and it was quite painful around ovulation and period i had awful cramps and heavy bleeds. I sucked it up abd kept it for a year and half until one day i couldn't take the pain, walked into the clinic and begged to have it removed. Best day of my life!
But @milscookie i think the mirena is hormones so not as uncomfortable.

Hope everybody else is doing ok.
Ready for anooooother week 🙄

TerribleImagination · 18/01/2021 08:41

@SunnySideUp2020 Yep I’ve got another sweep this morning, so hopefully there’ll be some progress and something will come from that! I think I’ve lost a bit of my plug over the weekend and continued to have the mild, but not regular or significant pains, but that’s been happening for weeks so I’m not convinced it’s doing much!

ChampooPapi · 18/01/2021 09:17

@TerribleImagination good luck for today, I really hoppe this time tomorrow your holding your baby 🥰

Contraception wise I'm getting the implant , never had it before as was on depo injection for nearly ten years, but the implant seemed best in my situation

Whiffle77 · 18/01/2021 09:24

Ahh good luck @TerribleImagination, hope you are coping ok...the last few days seem endless!

We have also started to have smiles this week which is lovely, and jabs are next week. Can't believe how old he is!

I mentioned contraception to DH last week and he was so surprised as he had forgotten thats what it was like before, its been so long without it!! I cant tolerate anything hormonal as it turns me into a mega bitch, so probably just condoms for us...which will be odd! Def won't be trying for another one immediately like @SunnySideUp2020 😂

Hope you can start winding down soon @Leok83, its a very strange feeling finishing! You're so close now Smile

TerribleImagination · 18/01/2021 11:28

Had the sweep and she said my cervix is definitely softer, so that’s good! Still the same length, but softer and slightly more dilated - so we have some progress, woohoo!

@ChampooPapi I also had the depo injection for about 10 years! Moved to the implant and had constant spotting after a few months, so ended up having it taken out. Obvs it’s different for everyone though! It’s such a ballache having to think of contraception again isn’t it?! 🙈

scrumdiddly123 · 18/01/2021 22:25

Thinking of you @TerribleImagination! Hopefully things are progressing xx

TerribleImagination · 19/01/2021 08:06

Thanks lovey @scrumdiddly123 🥰 Nothing as yet, just a bit of spotting from the sweep but nothing has kicked off yet. This baby girl is STUBBORN 🙈😂

SunnySideUp2020 · 19/01/2021 08:57

@TerribleImagination
Thinking of you too!
I feel like i am waiting for my own baby 😂
I have the feeling my girl will be the same....
Keep bouncing 🤞

scrumdiddly123 · 19/01/2021 09:35

@TerribleImagination that’s girls for you 🙈
I’ve been up half the night with a horrible burning pain in my calf. The assessment unit want to rule out a blood clot so just on our way to hospital now, there’s always something to worry about!

Whiffle77 · 19/01/2021 10:05

Oh gosh @scrumdiddly123 that's no good, hoping all is fine for you!

BecsterG · 19/01/2021 10:12

Loving the contraception talk. I want to get the coil and even had an appointment to get it put in but because I have a heart shaped uterus it needs to be done by gyni and guess what they're not doing thing during the pandemic like so many other things so I've started the mini pill in the mean time. I want to stop all my periods so these are the best options apparently. My hubby wants to go for the snip.

It was so weird having that chat in the hospital after pushing a baby out! Ha ha

BecsterG · 19/01/2021 10:13

Oh no @scrumdiddly123 I hope you're ok and it's not a clot .
