That's amazing news @Fizzl !! You must be so relieved... the 12 week scan is such a milestone.

I was worried about my NT result for twin 2 - hers was 2.7mm. She's absolutely fine! I also considered the NIPT but didn't do it in the end. It's a very personal choice I think.

Can't remember if I updated everyone but the girls came home on weds last week... it's so full on but we're just so happy to finally have our rainbow babies HOME!! 😍

Hope everyone else is doing okay!

Whiffle77 · 16/12/2020 06:54

Great news @Fizzl, congratulations! Hope it brings you some reassurance soon Smile its hard but def stay away from Google!

Thats brilliant news @MilsCookie, hope you are all surviving! So pleased that you are all home and settled for Christmas.

My little man finally gained some weight in the past week, but we still have to go to the hospital for some more tests today. Hoping it doesn't take too long and isn't too invasive for him, but we have all been feeling less worried since he put some weight on. Still expressing and bottle feeding which is unsustainable in the long term, but just need to get his weight back up for now. Will reevaluate in a week or two.

Hope everyone else is OK and looking forward to Christmas! I cant really believe it is next week, I am SO unprepared!!

TerribleImagination · 16/12/2020 09:51

Ahhh amazing news they’re both home with you @MilsCookie 😍😍 You’ll have such a gorgeous Christmas with your girls! ❤️

Fizzl · 16/12/2020 21:04

Thanks @MilsCookie it's reassuring to hear others experiences with positive outcomes! I know statistically it's very unlikely that the higher measurement means anything significant but can't help worrying! They do say the worrying never ends with children and it's definitely already started 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

That's amazing news that you're all back home! Hope things aren't too manic with two little ones keeping you busy! Hope you have the best Christmas this year!

@Whiffle77 also great to hear your update! I am also unprepared for Christmas and don't have the excuse of a newborn!! 😬

BecsterG · 16/12/2020 21:53

@MilsCookie amazing news that you're girls are home in time for Christmas! The best present!!

@Fizzl so pleased you're scan went well. Such a relief isn't it!

@MilsCookie so happy for you that they are home and all is ok! Fantastic! In the thick of it here but getting there week by week, just over 6 weeks now 🙌. We are currently doing one night on, and one night off, works for us, so someone gets to sleep in the spare room from 9 untill 6/7am and the other handles the night feeds solo. It gets one through the night off basically no sleep bar an hour perhaps knowing you have a full night the next. It's my turn in the spare room tonight, absolute bliss! I did get two solid hours from 6 till 8 am this morning and I do the same for my partner.

Wouldnt work with breast feeding but it is keeping us sane here, no point in both of us being kept up especially with the other two children . We've made them share a room for this period of adjustment! I'm starting to see them stretching sleeps a bit more at night, they are very good babies but they cluster feed like mad, even with bottles, one after the next. Good thing though, more the better as it's all going to hopefully contrabute to longer stretches of snooze time.

@MilsCookie we have to compare notes when we are both more out of the trenches, post 12 weeks gets a lot easier, especially sleep wise ☺️

ChampooPapi · 17/12/2020 20:20

@MilsCookie and the first three weeks are the absolute hardest, gets better every week from then being able to cope and it not just being completely relentless feeding wise. They are tanking up so as long as they don't bring it up keep making those bottles and gunning them down those babies 😆

ChampooPapi · 17/12/2020 20:24

@Whiffle77 such a relief he's finally gaining, I've been keeping updated with the thread as much as possible on here and just wanted to say you have been through a really hard time with your little one and have handled it so amazingly. You have been such a brilliant mum, doing everything you can in your power for him. How did the tests go? Are you guys ok? 🥰

SunnySideUp2020 · 17/12/2020 20:33

So for some reason i don't get any notification via email anymore so don't see the new messages on any of my threads. 😑

But in any case! List time!

That middle one is really weird but I thought you enjoy it, they are emerging from the darkness in a slightly gothic fashion 😆

Ejb86 · 18/12/2020 08:16

Oh the joys! My little boy has woken up with chicken pox, 3 days before his birthday and a week before Christmas. Sad

He doesn't seem too bothered by it all yet, and I had them when I was young, so baby should be fine, but it's honestly the last thing we need right now!

SunnySideUp2020 · 18/12/2020 08:28

@ChampooPapi 😍😍😍😍 thank you!
These little humans 😭
I like the middle pic, with the light coming in! Very artistic 👌
Do you think they will look like your other two girls?

@Ejb86
That sucks. I also had chicken pox, very itchy! Hope he gets over it soon x

@Whiffle77 ahhh so nice to read he has gained some weight! You are doing great!
Do you know what they are suspecting he has? Is there an issue that they do tests? Or is it just to rule out stuff and make sure he is all good?

Xmas in a week ladies 🎄🎁🎀🎊
!!!!!!!!!

I am decorating my tree today.
Will post a pic later :)

And i also need help.

The itching. It's a torture.
I can't take it anymore.
The bump, forearms, elbows and knees areas, bottom of the legs.
It like i have small invisible insects crawling all over.
My bump has some tiny red spots and so do the forearms but the rest i just plain itchy and i don't know what to do anymore.
Tried some anti itching cream, all the moisturisers, i don't use soap, i wear cotton, i bathed in oatmeal which helps for a couple of hours...

Anyone been through this? What can i do?

Whiffle77 · 18/12/2020 09:06

Oh @ChampooPapi they are just adorable!! What gorgeous pics!! We do something similar with nighties, but split each night - I get the first block of sleep and then take over around 2am so that he can get some sleep before work. its hard but better than the alternative.

We are ok I think, surviving!! He is still gaining weight and the doctors decided not to do most of the tests as she was happy with him so thats good. Got a review with the feeding team next week to work out next steps, as solely expressing is not sustainable. I do want to carry on some of the bottle feeds though given how we split the nights, so I will see what they say. As long as he is healthy and fed thats all that matters, but given I seem to have the supply it would be daft not to use it.

@Ejb86 so sorry about the chicken pox, that is such a pain. Hopefully most of it will be behind him by Christmas? I remember the itchiness very well!!

@SunnySideUp2020 have tou spoken to your midwife about the itching? It doesn't sound fun at all! You poor thing. Cannot believe Christmas is so soon, it seems to have got here so suddenly!

ChampooPapi · 18/12/2020 10:04

@SunnySideUp2020 yes me! It was absolute torture! It can be a sign of something liver related I think but mine was pure hormonal stuff and skin stretching, my bump was so bad I actually felt like my actual mind was itching at its worse. The bumps suggest PUPP, have a Google. I got prescribed steroid cream , It made a difference immediately, went from feeling like fire ants, especially once I started to scratch, to cool nothingness. The cream was amazing. You'll need to ring the doctors, sure they'll want to have a look but the cream is safe for pregnancy, but it has to be prescription strength. God it was awful so I totally sympathise, really drove me mad at night so I couldn't sleep sometimes.

Get thee to the docs! The midwife can't do anything for it as you need a doctor to actually prescribe. Other thing I did was blend up oats in a blender and mix with water to make a paste, then painted my belly with that, which soothes it as well. But that steroid cream, i only had to use it for 3/4 days and it cleared up completely. My stretch marks on my bump were actually breaking apart and that got so much better too ☺️

ChampooPapi · 18/12/2020 10:09

@Whiffle77 thats such good news, the first month is no walk in the park that's for sure! Good timing before Christmas for the review. You done fantastic with the expressing, it takes a strong woman to keep up with the pumping, is he three weeks now?

ChampooPapi · 18/12/2020 10:12

@Ejb86 oh no that is such a pain! Hope your coping ok, at least it should have gone pretty much by Christmas, usually a week and it really clears up but it's so typical isn't it? These things always happen at a very impractical time! We actually got our second the chicken pox vaccine last year, it was bloody expensive though 😬

SunnySideUp2020 · 19/12/2020 09:10

Thanks for the tips @ChampooPapi

Ended up contacting midwife she recommended a different cream and told me to exclude some stuff from my diet and see how it goes since i am seeing her at my GTT on tuesday. Th3 new cream seems to help. I put loads when i start itching and so far been under control...
She said she will do bloods to check liver functions on Tuesday.

Annnnd here is the tree! A little messy but i love it 😁

And another question to the mammas.
For hospital did you take long sleeve body suits or long sleeves to put under the pjs on baby?

SunnySideUp2020 · 19/12/2020 09:11

Long or short sleeves? *

Fizzl · 19/12/2020 11:22

@ChampooPapi your girls are gorgeous! Very cute photos

@Ejb86 oh no! Not the best timing. Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery for Christmas!

@SunnySideUp2020 the itching doesn't sound like fun! Lovely tree too. We've had our decs up for weeks now 😳

I got my screening results back and thankfully they are low risk. Not as close to high risk as I expected either - 1 in 100000 for edwards and pataus which is a huge relief. 1 in 954 for downs so not as low as many people get but didn't expect it to be super low given my age and that nt measurement. I've worked out it's about a 0.10% chance so statistically pretty good! We're now really unsure what to do about the nipt as I honestly assumed we'd be much closer to the high risk end, now I don't know if it's worth it as we wouldn't end the pregnancy anyway it would be more about having time to prepare but the chances seem so slim now 🤔

SunnySideUp2020 · 19/12/2020 13:02

@Fizzl

Ah good that your results are back and not terrible indeed!
If you wouldn't end the pregnancy i wouldn't bother with the nipt.
You will have your 20w scan soonish and you will be even more confident that nothing is wrong :)

ChampooPapi · 19/12/2020 15:01

@Fizzl yes I agree with @SunnySideUp2020, if you would continue with the pregnancy then absolutely much better ways to spend 400 pounds! No point doing it if you would go forward with the pregnancy and it is very unlikely anyway there is any genetic anomalies. The twenty week scan will be enough I'd imagine to put your mind at rest as well once that comes back clear.

@SunnySideUp2020 🎄😍

Some more tree action ✨ all my eldest daughters handywork

Pregnant after miscarriage part 4, TTC graduates
Leok83 · 19/12/2020 15:05

@Fizzl that's great news that so low risk for the major ones. I personally would prob do the NIPT but that's just me needing to be certain on stuff but it does seem like a really low risk. My husbands niece has Down's syndrome (she's the sweetest little girl) but it definitely took my sister in law a long time to come to terms with it..I'd say she'd have been nearly a year but the time she did. I think that pushed me a bit to need to know as early as possible and do the test just to allow times to come to terms with it if it had been us, even though it wouldn't have changed the pregnancy.

@SunnySideUp2020 you poor thing that itching seems terrible!! I hope it gets sorted soon. Thankfully I've not experienced that but I think I'm getting plantar fasciitis and my arches are dropping from being on my feet all day at work. Had a really busy week and I was literally hobbling by last night so just went and blew €120 on a pair of runners for decent arch support. Hopefully that works as I'd have spent €1000 if someone gave me something to save my feet last night..they even kept me from sleeping while I was in bed and I've pins and needles up to my toes this morning!
Are you doing a hospital bag? I haven't looked into it yet! Planning on starting it end of Jan but maybe that's too late! Haven't a clue what goes in it so I'll be watching carefully for your replies!!
Love your tree by the way!!

@ChampooPapi the girls are just gorgeous 😍😍 it sounds like you have the twin parenting down to a t already!!

@Whiffle77 great to hear your little man is doing better. Hopefully you will get to enjoy Christmas now😊
