My baby is asleep on me at the moment! She slept from 9.30pm til 1am -which his early for her she normally sleeps through til 3am and I put her back down at 4am and then sleeps til 6 or 7am-not tonight -she woke at 1 I fed her then put her back down at 2 then 3 she wakes up again I've fed and changed her and will put her back down soon on the whole she sleeps quite well! Usually only get woken once or occasionally twice a night!

Good news about the head down @@Hatepickinganame

@Wise0wl - hope your baby makes an appearance soon! Xxx

Hatepickinganame · 18/11/2020 07:01

I slept so much better last night. Wonder if stressing about baby was part of why I wasn't sleeping? I'm doing the finger prick tests at home, so I know my results straight away. 3 down, and my waking test is quite high, it should be under 5.3 and I was 5.2 so potentially borderline? Have to.do them 4 times a day for 5 days though. @wise0wl hope baby starts to make a move soon!

How everyone doing?

@Hatepickinganame how's things? @Wise0wl any news!?

Hatepickinganame · 19/11/2020 21:13

@professorastrocat good thanks, all blood sugar results so far are within normal range. So not adding diabetes to the list. Feeling off though, keep going hot/sicky which is unpleasant! How are you?

OP posts:
professorastrocat · 19/11/2020 21:26

Thats good news! Not about feeling sicky though! These final stages of pregnancy are a delight.
Aye we're fine...I think baby's jaundice is finally on the way out, blood results were borderline for needing to have treatment back in hosp 2 weeks ago but because they weren't over the threshold for treatment midwife just discharged us altogether! But she does finally seem a better colour.

MummyBearBoo · 20/11/2020 22:36

That's the Ironman with Autumn/why're babies you need natural sunlight to get rid of Jaundice my baby had it die snout 5 days but it wasn't too bad so she didn't have treatment for it we just put her in the light whenever there was a bit of sun!! She's been asleep for a while so I should be too really! Xx

MummyBearBoo · 20/11/2020 22:37

Ooops obviously tired meant the issues with autumn winter babies dunno where my phone got Ironman from 😂 xx

professorastrocat · 21/11/2020 08:04

😂😂 you're right, I did put her in sunlight when I could but there's not been loads of it. Hope you got a good kip x

calimommy · 21/11/2020 08:38

Jaundice is such a pain. My first guy needed lights for a day or two, second guy was ok on his own but I did the delayed cord clamping with my third and I think that was the reason he was so terribly jaundiced for such a long time. It was so stressful. Unfortunately I also had a paediatrician try to diagnose it as breast milk jaundice despite the fact that BMJ doesn't develop for several months. Anyho he got through it but I'm now considering asking them not to do the delayed clamping this time.

professorastrocat · 21/11/2020 08:58

Yes I felt reassured it wasn't breast milk jaundice as it came on day 2 and that is rare. I had no idea about the delayed cord clamping causing it though as we had that this time (not for ages but longer than with my first)

Hatepickinganame · 21/11/2020 09:56

Ok feeling very ignorant right now but what is delayed cord clamping?

OP posts:
professorastrocat · 21/11/2020 12:41

Basically not just cutting the cord straight away and allow it to pulse and blood to flow to baby from placenta a bit longer! Many benefits, including helping baby's iron stores for the first 6 months. And stem cells. Many hospitals do up to 2 mins as standard anyway, also called optimal where you wait til its white and stopped pulsating.

calimommy · 22/11/2020 01:42

Yes, I was quite excited about it tbh, I don't even remember discussing it as an option with the first two babies but they were born in Ireland. We are in California now and it's pretty much standard here. I also did the cord blood storage for my last baby. I'll do it again this baby. Hopefully it will never be needed. However I want to discuss the delayed clamping with my consultant for this time because last time baby was blood red for several days and then turned yellow as the sun. His colour was made 100% worse by the unfortunately coloured blankets I had brought with me for swaddling -bright red & yellow 😂🤯 I used to be a nurse but I'm lucky that my father is a neonatologist and paediatrician so I'm able to turn to him for specialist support. I hope this corona fucks off so he can fly out to me in March... 🤞

Hatepickinganame · 22/11/2020 11:12

Ah ok, not something I've heard of although I was so out of it for my last labour/birth (gas and air! Amazing 😅) that they could've waited an hour to cut it and I wouldn't have known! Will keep everything crossed that he can get to you @calimommy! Now we are weeks away from labour/birth im starting to worry that no one will be able to have the rest of our tiny humans cause they'll all be in isolation or something 🙄

Wise0wl · 24/11/2020 22:37

@Hatepickinganame hanging on at 41 weeks. Not sure if baby will ever arrive at this rate! How are you doing?

DPSawMyUsername · 25/11/2020 02:27

Just wanting to throw in an update while I'm in the cluster feeding hours with literally nothing else to do 😃

Cian lost weight, as expected, but only just under the 10% marker. Another weigh in seen him go over that 10% and they found tongue tie - heartbroken was not the word! Anyway, I switched feeding positions and upped the feeds and midwives were weighing every 2nd day. Little man gained 90grams in 2 days and on today's weigh in gained another 140gms!

We're at 4.4% and another 160gms will see him back to birth weight. I can not tell you the relief, I expected breastfeeding to be a challenge although I can't remember struggling with DD but this tongue tie got me all in a flurry.

Hope everyone and their babbas are doing well, who's still left to pop and how long have you got to go? Xx

PopsicleHustler · 25/11/2020 05:52

Can I join....

I'm only 33 weeks though, seems you lovely lot are further on. Sending my best to all

Hatepickinganame · 25/11/2020 07:56

@Wise0wl ah are you booked for induction? At least you know baby will be here sooner rather than later now!

@DPSawMyUsername ah poor you, feeding issues are the worst I think. My last had a dairy allergy, I was literally poisoning him at every feed without knowing. He was so unsettled and just always poorly, wasn't until around 5 months that a dr at hospital suggested cutting out dairy and prescribed a special formula that he ever settled down! Are they going to cut the tongue tie? I don't know what that involves but it doesn't sound nice 😔

I'm 37+5. Feel absolutely huge, not sleeping at all. On the bright side my GD results were absolutely fine. I have midwife Monday and consultant Tuesday so will hopefully know by then if they are happy to leave me to go overdue!

Needallthesleep · 25/11/2020 08:48

@DPSawMyUsername you have all my respect. Feeding is so so hard (I find it hard anyway) and so impressed you found a way through. We have had a pretty straightforward feeding journey so far and I’m still on the verge of giving up every day. Let us know how little Cian gets on.

@Wise0wl thinking of you in the next few days!!

Not sure if I mentioned but when DD was born a couple of heart problems were flagged. We had a follow up hospital appointment last week and luckily everything looks fine. I was super emotional all day waiting for the consultant to call with the results.

We are in the middle of the 6 week growth spurt/leap 1 (does anyone else follow wonder weeks? I know the science is shaky but it makes me feel better thinking I know what’s going on!). It’s been a bit rough sleep wise, but last night we got 10.30pm, 2.30am and 6am for feeds which feels so much better than last week. We still haven’t got a bed time, but I’m sure that will come. And we are totally free wheeling during the day, I have no routine. Still also have the smelliest baby ever. She’s non stop pooing, it’s hard to keep up with the nappy changes!!

How’s everyone else?

Wise0wl · 25/11/2020 10:30

@DPSawMyUsername so sorry it’s been tough so far, but glad that he’s now feeding and gaining weight!

@Hatepickinganame nope no induction booked but have the option of a sweep tomorrow if I want it... I think I do. Do I? I don’t really want an induction if I can help it!

@Needallthesleep lovely to hear from you and glad you’re doing ok, despite the lack of sleep and all the poo! I’ve heard good things about the Wonder Weeks for making sense of things, thanks for the reminder

Hatepickinganame · 25/11/2020 11:21

Do we get a hormone surge at the end of pregnancy or something? I've been sat here crying for ages and I have no idea why! I think i need a nap!!

@Wise0wl I would say take the sweep. It really can't.hurt to try it lol mine never worked though.

OP posts:
Wise0wl · 25/11/2020 12:06

@Hatepickinganame no idea about the hormone surge but I’ve been v emotional over the last week!

Will keep you posted on the sweep 🤞

professorastrocat · 25/11/2020 12:51

Oh god I got so emotional after my waters leaked and realised baby would have to come soon by induction or section. Possibly was the situation but it felt more hormonal i couldn't stop crying (only for 1 day) then for the actual labour I was fine again.

@DPSawMyUsername that's amazing you've got his weight back up what an achievement you must be very proud! We also have tongue tie and been referred.

@Wise0wl re a sweep if I'd got to that situation I was going to accept one if they examined me and the cervix was in any way soft (it can feel like a cheek or if you're still not further towards being ready it feels like a nose!) This was told to me by a midwife. If it's softer it's more likely to get things going, if not, it can cause cramping and discomfort but not do much and mean the last days / hours before actual labour you're in discomfort rather than resting. Up to you obviously!! And re induction 😊
if you're low risk and no concerns they cant 'make' you do anything but it's hard if you're getting pressure or feel fed up. Hope you're feeling ok!

professorastrocat · 25/11/2020 12:56

@Needallthesleep sorry about the worry about the heart concerns. They found something odd on dd after birth but said it wasn't a concern.

Off to hospital for more jaundice tests this afternoon.🙁
