@SmileyT aw I want a holiday!! Not jealous at all ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ xx

Mrsi2020 · 09/10/2020 18:48

@blodyn91 I get you. Firstly I also donโ€™t consider kids the same as babies as like you say under 12m is different! Iโ€™m Irish and I think of kids running mad as part and parcel! Lol! I donโ€™t mind people not bringing their kids if they want tk have a drink and I would only ever ask close kids so nieces and nephews but tbh I would never expect a new mum to leave her newborn. Itโ€™s shocking to me. Think on this thread weโ€™re all of a similar opinion! Great idea bringing someone else tho .

@Bl0ndi3 I wore a dress and leggings , you get to do it discreetly anyway but it meant I didnโ€™t have to use the tissue blanket they give me lol!

Girls - I have been told today Iโ€™m โ€œchronically anaemic and haemoglobin is 93โ€ , anyone else in the same boat? Xxx

Bl0ndi3 · 09/10/2020 19:15

@SmileyT @Mrsi2020 thanks ladies think I'll go leggings and a dress so it works for either internal or external scan! Must now go check I have a dress to wear that isn't a going "out out" dress ๐Ÿ˜‚ can't be going overdressed that'd be ridiculous

Curious what everybody is craving so far?

So far I find myself hankering for

Orange melon (but I've learnt any melon will do but orange is best)
Potato waffles
Cheese toasties

It's not constantly though just every now and then I think I could eat a bucket of melon right now.

Mrsi2020 · 09/10/2020 19:32

Lol! Love them cravings...

Cereal,
Bread and butter
And fruit (pineapple and watermelon mainly) xx

Bl0ndi3 · 09/10/2020 19:35

Oh man I do love bread and butter!!! @Mrsi2020

Annoyingly I keep thinking oooo I would love a ham sandwich when I make DSS packed lunch for school.

I'm vegetarian ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ so can't indulge in that one haha sandwiches aren't the same vegetarian either!

LittleRa · 09/10/2020 19:40

Cravings... fruit juice! Fresh orange, tropical juice... thought Iโ€™d had enough of grapefruit juice and pomegranate juice but Iโ€™d demolish it now! Iโ€™ve been taking a carton of fresh orange juice with my lunch each day ๐ŸŠ

Catherinettc · 09/10/2020 19:41

I'm cereal too lol I ate 5 bowls yesterday ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ xx

LittleRa · 09/10/2020 19:42

I do love carbs; pasta, bread and butter etc (Iโ€™m a veggie and have always been a bit of a carb fiend) and I desperately want to indulge in them guilt-free while pregnant but to be honest if I eat too much for tea or too late in the evening then Iโ€™m just so uncomfortably full and feel refluxy and bleurgh.

Ltay2 · 09/10/2020 19:49

I don't really have cravings! I love a cold apple from the fridge and enjoying other fruit at the moment, but wouldn't say it's a I HAVE TO HAVE IT NOW kind of feeling ๐Ÿคฃ

Mrsi2020 · 09/10/2020 19:55

Im a veggie too! You know what else I love abs hadnโ€™t thought of ๐Ÿคค jam toasties ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Madz123 · 09/10/2020 20:43

@zippityzip @Bl0ndi3 thanks for both your opinions! It's so helpful just knowing what other people would do!

@SmileyT ah glad I asked on here then- bet you hear all sorts of awful stories in your job! Thank you for such a detailed reply ๐Ÿ˜Š I think we will probably get the critical illness insurance along with the life insurance then- even though both my parents and the in-laws seem to think it's a huge waste of money ๐Ÿ™„

blodyn91 · 09/10/2020 21:35

@Mrsi2020 Im low iron and im not a vegetarian so I do try and have a steak every now and again. But I take spatone iron water, can put it in your apple juice or orange juice. Have you been feeling mega tired/dizzy?
I don't have a real. raving, but I do love cereal, cheese and egg sandwiches.....but I loved them before getting pregnant!! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿคฃ
Snack wise Im more savoury than sweet.

Sophi123 · 09/10/2020 21:44

I share your potato waffle craving @Bl0ndi3! Also pizza and rubbish lemonade - not very healthy!!

I have still been panicking at very limited symptoms, but had nice chat with Mum earlier who said she had nothing bar sore boobs at early stage with me or my brother so now just hoping it's genetic!

Got my appointments through today - 28th October for my booking in appointment and 12th November for my 12 week scan. Reckoning I might cave and have a 9/10 week scan in next few weeks but will see!

Catherinettc · 09/10/2020 22:58

I'm debating having another wee scan during the week. A wee treat after self isolating ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Its also half price cos last time they couldn't see anything (was the 1st scan at 3 weeks or so) so might just go for it xx

MrsEmilyB · 10/10/2020 09:09

@zippityzip I posted a pic of my bump on the fb group but here it is for you guys too โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ณ that was taken at 10+5! I had a reasonably flat tummy pre pregnancy!!

@Bl0ndi3 snap! I am TERRIFIED of labour but my current plan is to have a waterbirth in a birthing centre. Just hoping more than 1 birthing partner can come with you by then otherwise I'll strongly consider doing it at home so I can have my doula there too. I REALLY don't want an induction. I'd rather have a Csec. All my friends have had bad experiences and it's really scared me. What's the deal with ventouse and forceps? I don't know much about them? What happens if you need them but don't have them? Is it too late for an EMCS then?

Ooh @mrsmummy1111 I was looking at the elvie ones. Are they good? They're so much money but I like that they're hands free.

Oh wow @Catherinettc any tips for a mega speedy labour? How do you manage the pain? I've got one friend who also had reasonably quick births and describes labour as "great fun" but everyone else thinks she's a sadist now ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜‚

@ltay2 I have no cravings either! Like you I'm enjoying cold fruit and ice lollies, but it's not a NEED.

MrsEmilyB · 10/10/2020 09:10

@zippityzip helps if I attached the pic ๐Ÿ˜‚this was late at night so I think it looks bigger because of bloating

@MrsEmilyB and others. I had a water birth with my DD last time, it was great. Iโ€™ve described it on here before but think it was a little while ago now before some of you lovely ladies had graduated over! So: I was 38 weeks and I was having contractions at home. I had long baths, bounced on the yoga ball and used the TENS machine. I went in to be checked over but I wasnโ€™t dilated enough to stay in so went home again then when I went back (I think the next day) they said I was nearly ready but not quite enough to be admitted so to stay around the hospital and come back to be checked in a couple of hours (imagine that now with Covid!!) I was like โ€œwhat, hang around at Costa coffee having contractions?!?!โ€ So they said they had a spare non-pool room I could use but I wasnโ€™t admitted. After another couple of hours I had progressed enough to be admitted so I was moved to a pool room. I basically stripped straight off and got straight in the water!! That was around 5.30am. I then stayed in the water, using gas and air, floating around, DDโ€™s dad (now ex) feeding me jelly babies, we had taken an iPhone speaker and had a playlist on. If I felt the pain was getting a bit much and said I needed something more, the midwife said Iโ€™d have to get out of the water to have something stronger so that motivated me to stay in the water and not take anything else. I did have a little panic at the crowning stage (I can remember saying โ€œbut HOW is a head going to fit through?!?โ€) but she was born in the water at 11.14am, up through my legs and onto my chest. I was 38+4. After a few cuddles I got out of the water with umbilical ford hanging out of me to deliver the placenta. I didnโ€™t have any stitches which I think is partly down to the water but also DD had a low birth weight (5lb 7oz) so think that helped. Of course at the time I thought I was awful and felt like Iโ€™d been run over by a bus and said โ€œhow does anyone ever do it again?!โ€ but as a slowly began to learn the birth stories of my NCT friends including EMCS, losing blood, episiotomy and tears etc I realised what a good experience I had actually had. We stayed in two nights to get feeding established as DD had a low weight. Iโ€™d LOVE to have a water birth again this time and Iโ€™ll really push for it (due to her low birth weight last time and my low papp-a which pre-disposes high blood pressure I could be high risk but consultant said it doesnโ€™t necessarily rule out water birth).

Bl0ndi3 · 10/10/2020 10:13

@LittleRa that does sound great and what i want but see how I go I guess!

@MrsEmilyB I just don't like the idea of them pulling my baby out with forceps I remember my nephew having a funny shaped head and marks all over his head from it and my sister had a bad tear with it - it's tearing I'm terrified of!!! I think ventouse is similar but suction not forceps! No thanks.
Not sure whether time for a emergency C If need forceps or something, possibly tho?

Leaving for scan in 20 mins eeeeeek

Ltay2 · 10/10/2020 10:31

@LittleRa That sounds like a beautiful birth experience!

@Bl0ndi3 Good luck with the scan! โค๏ธ

blodyn91 · 10/10/2020 10:34

From what I understand C section is safer than forceps, and I don't think its ever too late for an EMCS. My sister had one after 2 days of labour. Ive heard of some having tears and then having to push baby back in for C section, Id just go C section straight away please.
@littlera that does sound good. Especially the feeding jelly babies part! Must add to hospital bag list!

LittleRa · 10/10/2020 10:40

@blodyn91 Definitely recommend jelly babies for the hospital bag, and the lucozade energy sweets (orange flavour- see pic!)

I really hope I get a smilie experience this time. It might sound weird but one of my biggest worries isnโ€™t the actual birth but the recovery afterwards- as I didnโ€™t have stitches or anything and literally just had 2 codeine and then paracetamol afterward, I pretty much went back to normal. Whereas I have friends to had prolapses (vaginal and anal), burst stitches, umbilical hernia, incontinence etc ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ It sounds so superficial and selfish but I donโ€™t want a negative impact on my sex life with DP too! Obviously I know thereโ€™ll be short term limitations but longer term pain and discomfort etc.

Good luck with scan @Bl0ndi3 ๐Ÿ’•

mrsmummy1111 · 10/10/2020 10:50

@LittleRa That sounds like the DREAM BIRTH!!!!

For those of you who are worried about induction (sorry, can't find who it was??), I wrote my induction story the other day, shouldn't be too far down, but shows that not all induction stories are hell. I went from pessary --> holding baby in less than 18 hours, and I just had paracetamol and gas & air (tbh though, the gas & air made me throw up so tried not to use it too much.) Think it was more useful as a crutch and something to help concentrate on my breathing. I'd choose an induction over CS any day. But forceps and ventouse scare the living daylights out of me. I don't judge anyone who chose them, but they wouldn't be my choice.

mrsmummy1111 · 10/10/2020 10:51

Good luck @Bl0ndi3 !!!! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ
