@LittleRa I joined this morning and really enjoyed it! I learned so much and have now also purchased the digital pack. It was super informative and I'm excited to learn more.

@Mococo1 congratssss. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

LittleRa · 11/10/2020 20:17

@FairyLights2 Iโ€™ve purchased the digital pack too!

FairyLights2 · 11/10/2020 20:20

@SmileyT I'm doing good, thanks! I'm definitely getting bigger and a little self-conscious about my weight. DH has been great at making me feel better but I miss fitting into my old clothes. And this feels like it's only the start.... oh my! ๐Ÿ˜‚

How are you? I hope you're well โค๏ธ

FairyLights2 · 11/10/2020 20:24

@LittleRa I just read your water birth experience - wow! Did you know about hypnobirthing then? Or is it your first time wanting to use it? x

LittleRa · 11/10/2020 20:42

@FairyLights2 Last time I listened to a Hypnobirthing audiobook/podcast type thing. I canโ€™t find the same one again now! It was on CD and I donโ€™t even have a CD player anymore. I keep searching though. I listened to it on headphones every night as I went to sleep- it was positive affirmations, breathing, relaxing sounds etc. Then I had it playing through the iPod speaker while in the birth pool. I didnโ€™t do any classes or anything though.

LittleRa · 11/10/2020 20:44

@FairyLights2 I mean to say I canโ€™t find the same one as a download or to stream or anything, this is it on CD but I donโ€™t know how Iโ€™d listen to a CD now! Or transfer a CD to my phone! Ha ha

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/1905220537?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

It was called โ€œNatal Hypnotherapyโ€ as opposed to Hypnobirthing.

blodyn91 · 11/10/2020 20:54

I need to read into this Hypobirthing. Im really not good at relaxing, the thought of having a bath or listening to music really is not me, but feel like I should give it a try .
So today I cycled 100miles for the first time ever!! Felt so good until mile 85 when my bum was just in agony ๐Ÿ˜† Ive been doing a lot of training over the past 12 months, and had this goal to do this year so just had to attempt it. Now I will listen to my mam and will slow down a little bit ๐Ÿคญ

zippityzip · 12/10/2020 06:12

@Mococo1 God love your DH crying he was so happy that's so beautiful. Congrats on the baby boy!!! It appears as though we are a team of men!

Mococo1 · 12/10/2020 07:37

@zippityzip if you met him you would realise he's not one to cry at all (although he did so in private just me and him)

He didn't even touch on the fact it was a boy he just kept saying we're having a baby, I'm going to be a dad, we're going to be our own little family.. so it's made it real for him now, which is nice as I can understand as men aren't the carriers it's harder to bond before the baby is born xx

@blodyn91 well done on the 100m!!! Bet baby is in there like woooo mummy's taking me on a ride today - I wonder if the endorphins make baby happy like it does us ๐Ÿ˜ that would be sooo nice! I will not be surprised if your little one is crawling by 5/6months considering how active you are lol

LittleRa · 12/10/2020 07:50

In case you all havenโ€™t heard, itโ€™s on the news this morning urging pregnant women to get the flu jab ASAP (attached screenshot from BBC news)

Summer '20 Grads Part IV
zippityzip · 12/10/2020 08:17

@LittleRa I know we are supposed to get it but no one has mentioned it to me yet?! Should we be chasing it up?

@Mococo1 Bless him - it probably felt really to him for the first time. They are missing out on the scans and antenatal care so I can imagine they feel quite detached from it all.

LittleRa · 12/10/2020 09:37

@zippityzip Well at my last midwife appt (16 weeks) the midwife said I would be called for it. In light of the news today, I phoned my GP surgery just to follow up and they said the midwife will give the jab at my next appt with her- thatโ€™s my 25 week appt on 25th November. My mum says I should ring back and say Iโ€™m not comfortable waiting over 6 weeks as I work in a school and the government advice is for pregnant women to get it as soon as possible. Donโ€™t know what it do now!

Bl0ndi3 · 12/10/2020 10:29

I rang my GP the other week told them I'm pregnant and that I want the flu jab and they offered me an appointment which is on Saturday.

If I were you and you haven't had it yet I'd pester your GP about it xx

SmileyT · 12/10/2020 11:39

@Mococo1 so sweet about your OH, such a lovely joyous time

@FairyLights2 I've cried a few times when I've gone to try something on which once was super baggy and it won't fit. My bump isn't huge but I'm just expanding... it's less the size but just the change if that makes any sense ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ

@blodyn91 amazing on your 100miles, no wonder your body doesn't hold onto any fat you're just keeping it working all the time ๐Ÿ’ช you'll definitely need a running buggy, you're little one is not going to know what to do with itself sat still after 9months of being on the go โค๏ธ

@LittleRa thanks for the reminder on the flu jab, MW at my 16week phone chat said it had to be done at the GP (even though the MW from my booking said they'd do it ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ) but when I initially called GP 2weeks ago they were only doing over 65s called up today and they've changed policy and booked me in ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ need to book my whooping cough aswell around 20weeks x

@zippityzip definitely call them about flu jab nobody was planning on calling me to book it in and apparently they are worried about the amount they can get as so many more people want it this year x

zippityzip · 12/10/2020 11:51

@SmileyT @LittleRa So glad I got you guys. Just gave them a call and they booked me in for next week. Literally no one would have said anything to me otherwise.

My kids are having the spray at school in the next couple of weeks.

blodyn91 · 12/10/2020 12:58

Which week are we meant to get the flu jab? does it need to be around week 16? My MW appointment is over the phone in 2 weeks time for that.
I know with sheep their vaccinations have to be within 4 weeks of giving birth with some vaccines ๐Ÿ™ˆ (more for bacterial diseases not viruses that is)
@SmileyT I still have no bump, im now 14 weeks ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I sort of want one now!
When do you start feeling them kick and stuff? I just don't feel very pregnant or look it ๐Ÿ™ˆ private scan getting very tempting for week 16

zippityzip · 12/10/2020 13:16

@blodyn91 I'm not sure on the flu jab - I thought it was seasonal as opposed to gestation?

I heard that the whooping cough is meant to be around 20 weeks so I'll ask when I get my flu jab.

I can feel some flutters now but only because I think I know what I'm looking out for. Plus I'm already stretched out ๐Ÿ˜‚ I think extra scans are always a great idea ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป plus at 16 weeks if you get a private scan you can find out the sex ๐Ÿ™„

Mococo1 · 12/10/2020 13:37

I'm not sure on when Jabs are meant to be taken..this is what it says appointmentwise ๐Ÿ˜•

I'm sure flu jab should be seasonal as well makes no sense otherwise x

mrsmummy1111 · 12/10/2020 14:57

My GP annoyingly has a "dedicated flu jab line" (what?!) that I've got to call tomorrow to try and get an one. If I can't get one (apparently there's a shortage but not sure if that's actually true) then if anyone desperately wants one you can get them at Asda / Lloyd's pharmacies for about ยฃ20. So if you don't want to wait then you can always go there. I'm not overly concerned tbh as my midwife is actually my mums best friend - I chose her, not just randomly allocated ๐Ÿคฃ and she said we've got plenty of time to get it done as we aren't in full on flu season yet. Just a good idea to get the ball rolling XX

zippityzip · 12/10/2020 15:55

@mrsmummy1111 oh how very fancy - dedicated flu line ๐Ÿ˜‚ poor sod that has to answer the ten thousand calls from the 80yrs+ over and over again.
My friend is a GP and she gave up her Saturday to administer the flu jab and it was the 70+ group, each patient booked and given a 5 minute turnaround. She said it takes them that long to get their coats off ๐Ÿ˜‚ wipe and stab and ten mins to get up again.
She drank a lot that night.

I love old people though - my Nan is one proper doddery blunt (actually rude) old nut bag and she's the best.

Busybee143 · 12/10/2020 17:02

When I go to my 12 week scan the hospital are doing flu and whooping cough, maybe you should check if yours is too.

SmileyT · 12/10/2020 18:13

@Busybee143 ooh that's good they do it all at the same time, I didn't even think you were supposed to have whooping cough until later but gets everything ticked off for ya ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ

@zippityzip the flu jab appts are my GP are every 3minutes bet it's carnage in there especially as you can't wait indoors ๐Ÿ˜‚ probably a stupid question but what is the spray?

@blodyn91 I didn't think the flu jab mattered how far along you were just during flu season, as @mrsmummy1111 said I don't think there is any huge rush but nice to get it ticked off the list, ideally not the day before a big ride for you as arm may be a bit sore. I'm not jealous at all of your toned bod ๐Ÿคฅ I've felt some seriously flutters/kicks, had a scan today and it was weird feeling it as it was on screen ๐Ÿฅฐ

MrsEmilyB · 12/10/2020 18:17

@LittleRa - your birth experience sounds amazing. I'm really hoping for a water birth, instead of going for a planned C-Sec like I was initially thinking. I'm hoping all these books etc help my fear.

@Bl0ndi3 I'm exactly the same. Tearing is my worst nightmare.

@mrsmummy1111 thank you, it was me that is scared of induction! I just don't think it's for me. Ventouse and forceps are being quickly added to my "nope" list. I think I'm an all or nothing kinda gal. Gimme natural birth or gimme a c sec haha

@Mococo1 yay for team blue! Are we all boys on the thread so far?

blodyn91 · 12/10/2020 18:17

@SmileyT oh thats exciting that you can feel him!!! I won't be going on any more long rides, just wanted that one ticked off. Roads are getting dirty and icy so last thing I want to do is crash. I just hope they don't close swimming pools!

LittleRa · 12/10/2020 18:25

Sorry, canโ€™t remember who it was asking about Tiny Baby size stuff... Iโ€™ve got some from Primark today. I got plain white vests and plain white sleepsuits in both Tiny Baby and Newborn size, just so handy to chuck in the hospital bag then even if the tiny ones arenโ€™t needed they were only ยฃ4. I also asked if they had Maternity stuff, they only had these bras (pic attached) but only in a size XS so no good for me but I had this same type when feeding DD and they were comfy and cheap at ยฃ8 for a 2 pack.
