@MrsK89 my friend gave me some clarins tired leg lotion at the weekend, it’s so tingly and cooling- see if you can get your hands on some as that might help x

I did a lot of walking at the weekend and pinched a nerve or something in my left bum cheek. Really painful! Been on the ball all day so hopefully that will sort it out.

Finish work on Friday- can’t come soon enough. I’m tired and need to vegetate 😂

justanothermamma · 21/09/2020 13:43

@NWnature @Zaalfruit My FIL didn't like what we called DD, but they get used to it. It's not their baby 😂 bloody in laws. My MIL is very vocal about what she likes/doesn't like. Luckily DH doesn't fear telling her to do one, so I'm able to do the same if she gets on my nerves. I'm hoping she doesn't just please herself turning up to the house when baby comes, she has a habit of doing that with no prior warning, my own Mum wouldn't dare bless her, even if I wanted her to she'd always ask!

@otterbaby I just found my baby name list from when we had DD and Esther is on there and I didn't even realise we'd considered it last time! The other name on there was Rosie, but my cousin had a little girl a few weeks ago and nabbed that one!

FourPlasticRings · 21/09/2020 13:45

Query, and I'm sorry if this has come up on a previous thread, but is anyone having the flu vaccine for this season while still pregnant? I've booked mine in because it apparently provides some immunity to the baby and that can only be a good thing, but does anyone know if it's likely to have an effect in the next couple of weeks (presuming bubs hangs in there that long!)?

FourPlasticRings · 21/09/2020 13:47

@MrsK89 I've had achy legs both pregnancies and am at risk of varicose veins so I bought some compression socks off Amazon. They make a world of difference to the leg pains.

MrsK89 · 21/09/2020 13:57

Thank you @NWnature and @FourPlasticRings. I'm going to have a look for both
It's kind of come all of a sudden and I'm exhausted with them. Its like when you have heavy periods and legs are aching aswel.
Our gp aren't doing the flu jab till late October and I'm getting induced on Saturday, so bit pointless for me

justanothermamma · 21/09/2020 14:54

@FourPlasticRings I got told I needed to get it as I was shielded. Myself and my DH got our flu vaccines almost two weeks ago (no issues so far) and my DD got her nasal one this morning. X

otterbaby · 21/09/2020 14:59

@FourPlasticRings I'm booked in for one next week when I'll be 39+1 - hoping I don't go into labour before then! I think regardless of how long they stay in after, they benefit from the vaccine.

Treacle81 · 21/09/2020 15:11

I've done absolutely nothing today and it's past 3 😳 body obv needs rest to get rid of this cold! I've got my flu jab on Thurs when I'll be 38+3 @FourPlasticRingsand just hope no bad side effects as never had it and trying to get shot of this bug just now, don't need another xx

FourPlasticRings · 21/09/2020 15:37

Thanks everyone. It hadn't even occured to me to ask about it until the weekend! Just got to make it until Wednesday (38+6) for my appointment! But DD was born at 39+0 so my hopes aren't terribly high tbh.

BntTowers · 21/09/2020 17:17

I've just managed to find somewhere to do it a week earlier than my previous one was booked for..now booked in for the 7th instead of the 13th. Due date of the 15th and it would have been lousy going through induction and any possible flu vaccine side effects.
@Treacle81 I've not done anything all's ay either, I think I'm catching up with where everyone was last week with the loose bowel movements so I haven't left up to much all day.

justanothermamma · 21/09/2020 18:07

@Treacle81 @FourPlasticRings My doctors said it would be 10-14 days before you felt any side affects if you were unlucky enough to get any so you should be okay with them! Unless baby arrives before the appointment 😂.

Spark27 · 21/09/2020 18:48

I've not managed to get one booked in. My drs are contacting people that need one and haven't been in touch yet, and the next one I could find somewhere else was 9th Oct. I'm due on 27th Sept, so no point booking. If I could get one I would x

Treacle81 · 21/09/2020 19:15

@justanothermamma Ah, I'm due in a fortnight! Saying that if still got this cold by Thurs cant get it anyway. Guess who has just ordered Domino delivery with cookies 😋xx

MrsK89 · 21/09/2020 19:21

@Treacle81 sounds yum. Wonder if I can convince DH to bring some home for me aswel

Zaalfruit · 21/09/2020 19:25

@Treaclepie19 thinking of you!

She is odd - mil will call up checking have I eaten ? Do I need food or a lift to theirs? However at the same time she will
Be so Controlling - her and dh weren’t on speaking terms for months as she asked him why did we go on so many holidays after we got married and not try for a baby. It was so uncomfortable both of shouting at each other and me and fil Just sitting there . My fil and mil don’t like the name we have kept I choose to act deaf to it.

FYI on my first day of maternity leave I went to co op and spend £20 on chocolates , sweets and drinks. Need to hide all evidence and receipts from dh.

This is the list of items I have done on day 1 of maternity leave got sooo much to do !

Ha @Zaalfruit money well spent! I do it on a nearly daily basis to be honest 😆

I’ve just had a look through my hospital bags again, I’ve got a cabin bag and quite a big carry all plus snack bag. Feels a bit excessive! Going to get my SIL who is a midwife to sense check everything next week. My mum was really sweet and bought me a new navy towel but it’s a sheet the biggest they do so it’s heavy and taking up loads of space. Might need to swap that out for a smaller one. I’ve got a pack of tena pants but no big black pants or maternity pads. Also have comfy clean clothes for going home but still need nightshirt/robe or whatever for the aftermath!

BettyBotter1 · 21/09/2020 19:41

@Zaalfruit that's a good list! Gifts? Is there an etiquette around taking gifts for hospital staff that I don't know about?

I've had one of those days where you don't seem to sit down for 5 minutes but equally don't seem to achieve anything. Bit frustrating and feel a bit stressed, but hopefully tomorrow will be more productive. Relaxing in the tub to try and unwind before bed. Yum to the dominos and sweets / choc, I have food envy.

@FourPlasticRings I'm half heartedly trying to track down a flu jab at Boots, would like to get one if I can in time.

My strep b test came back negative, that's one good thing!

StrawberrySprinkles · 21/09/2020 19:44

Has anyone had any funny popping feelings in their bump? I felt (and swore I heard it too 😅) a bit of a forceful popping feeling about an hour ago...don’t think it’s my waters though? I have had backache and slight cramps in my tummy and thighs lately but nothing major, and was up every hour with uncomfortable Braxton hicks last night but again not entirely new! Just wondering if anyone’s had similar things? 🧐

Zaalfruit · 21/09/2020 19:45

I feeL under packed - I have packed a lot of toiletries and 1 night dress , sports bra and a going home outfit - 3 pants and a few pads.

For baby 3 baby vests , 3 Baby grows , formula milk and a bag of nappies .

A magazine and a reading book plus my charger .

Everything fits in my cabin bag.

I am wearing flip flops to the hospital so will wear them home and then dash them.

Zaalfruit · 21/09/2020 19:46

Oh and I need to pack my bikini for my water birth - fingers crossed 🤞🏽

Spark27 · 21/09/2020 19:58

@NWnature I bought a new microfiber towel off of Ebay. It's a huge sheet but folds up so small. Think it cost about £7.

I get this quite a bit @StrawberrySprinkles. Loud pops and cracks from my bump. Its normal. Just baby moving around in there, fluid moving etc.

Zaalfruit · 21/09/2020 19:59

Oh no sorry gifts are for my siblings @BettyBotter1 - first time uncle and aunty my brothers quite young so he is really excited ! So they will be gifts from the baby to my siblings.

Zaalfruit · 21/09/2020 20:02

@StrawberrySprinkles I hear popping sounds - sometimes I worry have I popped her arms or dislocated her somewhere . However checked on mums net it’s quite common!

I forgot to pack a towel -I have a medium size gym towel that folds small - will pack that .

Spark27 · 21/09/2020 20:03

I find it's the maternity pads and breast pads that take up a lot of space. I've got 2 packs of maternity pads, about 10 pairs of breast pads, toiletries, 2 nighties and 1 pjs. Big pants, comfy socks, flip flops for bathroom, 2 outfits (vest tops, sweat pants, etc), microfiber towel. Then electronics and snacks all in my cabin bag. Then have a backpack/changing bag with babies stuff in.

justanothermamma · 21/09/2020 20:05

@Treacle81 So jealous!

@BettyBotter1 Does everyone get a Strep B test? My midwife has never mentioned it! Although they never mentioned Whooping Cough either which I only ended up getting last week so god knows.

@StrawberrySprinkles That's how my labour with DD started, the pop, discharge, contractions and then my waters didn't go fully until just before DD came out. Where was the pop?
