@MummyBearaBoo good luck for tomorrow!

@bluemoon2468 I've read that sometimes labour stops to give you a rest before the final push, so to speak. Hopefully it starts up again soon for you.

@BntTowers me too- nothing of note. Keep waking up to pretty intense cramping but then it always goes away again after an hour at most.

@booroo I hear you. I'm really not pleased with the unexpected delay! Starting to become convinced that this baby just isn't going to arrive without intervention (and hoping beyond hope that the intervention doesn't cause me any lasting damage). DH does not get it at all. I feel a tiny bit better today but yesterday was rough, emotionally speaking!

Who else is still waiting on baby?

NWnature · 04/10/2020 09:34

@FourPlasticRings still waiting! No signs whatsoever, no cramping or anything. Went for a mega long walk yesterday which was exhausting but doesn’t seem to have done the trick. Also had a bad nights sleep as hips were so uncomfortable so constantly swapping sides and getting up for the loo. Think like 8 times!!!

My due date is not til next Saturday so I guess this baby will hopefully show up soon after that? I have a MW appointment on Tuesday but don’t want a sweep or anything. Then acupuncture again on Wednesday where I think she will try some more “descending points” so we will see.

I’m completely torn between dying for the baby to get here , so I can finally meet them. We pretty much decided on our top boy and girl name on the walk yesterday. But I’m also really nervous for life as we know it to change and all of the unknowns like how birth will go and everything after! It’s still so surreal.

ChickenDipper28 · 04/10/2020 09:39

It's been lovely reading everyone's updates! Congratulations to you all who have had your beautiful babies ❤️

Sounds like it won't be long left for the rest of us 🤞🏼 I'm due the 10th Oct and I've had nothing apart from period pains and my body seems to be having a clear out for the past week or two! I'm booked in for a c section Wednesday, still can't believe it's happening!

Can't wait to see more baby updates!

Viletta · 04/10/2020 09:42

@FourPlasticRings I'm 40 weeks still no signs of labour. MW suggested harvesting colostrum I tried many times but nothing comes out. A bit worried about breastfeeding. I'm mentally prepared to wait for the baby for another 10 days or so till it's absolutely necessary to go for induction. So far he is moving lots, good size and seems happy. Wondering when MW will contact me for monitoring.

Anyone else tried harvesting colostrum? Any luck?

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 04/10/2020 09:42

I've not had any of my plug show yet, I feel like I'm miles away from anything happening. 39 weeks tomo.

@Zaalfruit @Spark27 nice to hear from you both! Hope things settle down in the next few days I'm sure they will❤️

I'm up for a WhatsApp or Facebook group too.

@bluemoon2468 ah that sounds tough to take and annoying. Hopefully it comes back on again today and doesn't go off this time. Maybe rest a lot all day just incase so you're energy is up.

@Treacle81 hope you're ok, you've had such a time of it these last few days. I hope soon you'll have your baby and you can recover and get home

@MummyBearBoo good luck tomo with your induction x

So this sounds crazy (well I think it does) but I think I know where my cervix is and once a day for the last week I'd say I give it a quick feel to see if it seems soft. It's seemed soft all this time but today (and this is the me sounding crazy bit) it feels like a bit harder and solid a bit like baby's head is just there. Could that be? I have no idea like if it really is then baby is v v v low. I know baby is low because of scan I had on thu but it just feels different today. Please tell me if I've got this app wrong 😂 x

Buzz22 · 04/10/2020 09:45

@CharlieBalf congratulations! He is gorgeous and I love the name Rufus!

@bluemoon2468 @otterbaby urgh jow irritating for you both! I hope you arent feeling too exhausted today. Did you manage to get some sleep? I hope things pick up again for you both today.

@FourPlasticRings no baby here yet. I had some stomach pains across my bump yesterday evening but they settled immediately after I lay down and stretched out. I think baby girl is just running out of room now so the movements are getting uncomfortable.
My due date is next Friday. Was being seen at the pre-term labour clinic as we lost last baby at 22 weeks when my waters broke.
So I'm switching between being fed up of waiting and absolutely amazed she is still cooking at 39 weeks! Although like @NWnature I'm also terrified of life changing forever. I know its ridiculous but I keep looking at our dog and thinking I cant possibly love anything as much as I love her! Then panicking that I'm going to be a terrible mother who doesnt like her baby. I was totally calm till a week ago, now my thoughts are all over the place.

BettyBotter1 · 04/10/2020 09:45

@NWnature sounds like I'm in a similar place to you, no cramping or anything yet and midwife app on Tues. I'm curious to know if my cervix is getting ready but don't want a sweep or anything yet. I'm 2 days past due date today. As you said, really looking forward to meeting baby, but nervous for labour and life to totally change.
@Treacle81 sounds like you'll be meeting your baby soon, good luck. Agree a whatsapp group is a good idea
@bluemoon2468 and @otterbaby hope things get going again soon and you've been able to get some rest in the middle of things
@Spark27 and @Zaalfruit I'm sure you're doing great! You'll be offering those ftms of us still waiting for our babies advice in the coming days/ weeks no doubt!

Viletta · 04/10/2020 09:48

Interesting paper on inducing labour naturally www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4210668/

For myself I decided to just chill and wait out and not try any anecdotal natural ways to bring on the labour. I hope it'll happen whenever baby, placenta and my body decide to.

Viletta · 04/10/2020 10:02

And another read on what triggers labour in nature www.bellybelly.com.au/birth/what-causes-labour-to-start/
I don' t know why but this type of read calms my nerves.

BntTowers · 04/10/2020 10:02

Eugh just been to check on the cats, one of them seems to have a cut on his leg, it seems clean, and he has just got up and strutted over so seems to look worse than it is and not really bothering him. Might just keep him in for today and see how he does rather than letting him out. Not what is needed!

blankiesandunicorns · 04/10/2020 10:32

Sound alike lots of us are having starting/stopping labour. I didn't realise it was so common! I had a pain at 3am then 8am and today just feel really heavy.

Good luck to @booroo @bluemoon2468 and anyone else having this it's very annoying (sorry can't keep up with all the posts and who's said what) but know a lot of others are having this frustrating on off early labour like me

FourPlasticRings · 04/10/2020 10:41

@blankiesandunicorns it is helpful to know that's it's happening to others too, isn't it? Tbh though I did think my body might know what it was doing more this time around!

There are quite a few of us still waiting then, but it sounds like just a few of us are overdue. I am definitely blaming baby's position for mine. Felt it shift massively earlier. Just hoping it's still head down...midwife appointment on Wednesday but she doesn't ever seem to know what position the baby is in. Last time she seemed happy it was head down but had no idea which way it was facing or where the body was. Seriously considering booking a private scan to check position but they're about £90 where I am.

NWnature · 04/10/2020 11:01

@Viletta I tried harvesting , I have managed to “see some” but haven’t been able to catch it / get enough for a syringe. Do you have a breast pump? It seems to take ages doing it by hand so I just give up, but I put the pump on and a tiny bit did come out. I wouldn’t worry if none appears though as many people don’t bother and bf fine! I’m going to read the articles you posted now.

@FourPlasticRings I have no idea of baby position apart from apparently head down but not at all engaged I don’t think. Have you been on that spinning babies website? Seems to get good reviews for getting them into position.

@BettyBotter1 ooh see what your MW says on Tuesday. I just can’t get over how unknown/ uncontrollable the whole process is, it’s mad. I understand why people go for ELCS just to get some iota of control.

@Buzz22 hahaha I have been doing the same with my cat. Bonkers isn’t it. I just can’t actually believe that a baby (our baby) will be here soon. I’m really really trying to just keep only positive thoughts as have a tsunami of worry/fear etc bubbling but it just won’t do any good to go there.

Hope all you guys with stop/start get some progress today - will keep everything crossed for you!

Ps. Argh @BntTowers just what you blinking need! I reckon keep him in. Hopefully it will heal up itself.

Spark27 · 04/10/2020 11:26

Just been for our 5 day check with the mw and baby has actually gained weight. So the cluster feeding and difficult nights is at least having a positive affect. Makes it feel worth it now. These babies are an emotional rollercoaster all the time 😅

FourPlasticRings · 04/10/2020 11:33

Whoop! Well done @Spark27, that's a huge achievement!

Viletta · 04/10/2020 12:40

@FourPlasticRings ask her if she can do a mini scan for position. I'm planning a home birth and MW have to check baby position on the scan, it was a hand held tiny scanner that you can't see much on but she was able to confirm position including whether he's back to back or not. It's highly unlikely that if they were head down they'd move at this point. They are programmed to be head down.

@BntTowers they should heal quickly, I'd keep him in for today. Good that he's not complaining on his paw.

BntTowers · 04/10/2020 12:51

Ended up taking him in to the vets as it was deeper than I thought, a couple of staples that have to come out in 7-10 days time, so right around my due date.... He is looking very sorry for himself.

@Spark27 that's great, well done!

NWnature · 04/10/2020 13:37

Owww poor little love! Better safe than sorry though🐾

@Spark27 awesome news you star!

I just went mental at DH as he is faffing about getting a sport TV subscription instead of helping me clean and generally organise shit for OUR IMPENDING FAMILY- drives me up the wall! Our house renovation is still a complete shambles and so much to organise - he really needs to get his head in the game!!!!!! Gone from feeling soooo #blessed in love yesterday on our walk imagining our little one to wanting to throttle him just now 😂

FourPlasticRings · 04/10/2020 14:04

@BntTowers aww, he's a cutie. Bless him, hope he feels better soon x

Treacle81 · 04/10/2020 14:46

Thanks for all the well wishes girls. Still waiting to get space in labour ward so just thankful I made lunch and managed an hour sleep! At this rate prob make dinner 🙄 just thankful not got any contractions as such whilst I wait! I'll need antibiotics when I get down there due to waters breaking easily over 24 hrs ago now. Not been examined since last night when I was 1 to 2 cm so hoping to have got to say 4 lol xx

Spark27 · 04/10/2020 14:49

Thanks ladies. Definitely makes the last few nights seem worth it (but will I be thinking that at 0200 😅)

Awww, bless him @BntTowers. He looks very cute and sorry for himself. I had to take our cat to the vets a week before my due date, and the vet said he might need to go back. I was cursing him. Fortunately he didnt need it.

BettyBotter1 · 04/10/2020 14:55

@BntTowers oh no the dreaded cone lol. Poor kitty, I hope he feels better soon. He's got great timing! He does look sorry for himself. I think one of mine suspects something is up, I'm getting lots of snuggles. @Buzz22 and @NWnature I can also relate to that, hoping I'll love baby as much as cats 😂
@Spark27 well done with the weight gain, that's great!
@NWnature mine is currently playing a computer game 🙄

Treacle81 · 04/10/2020 16:07

Arrived at labour suite at half 3 girls and just had mini breakdown whilst partner was away. Seeing the wee incubator, just made everything so real and I am absolutely terrified 😭xx

Buzz22 · 04/10/2020 16:09

Thinking of you @Treacle81 You'll do great.
When does your partner get to join you? Xx

Treacle81 · 04/10/2020 16:17

He's just away to get food and eat in car as I'm not allowed anything. He can stay till baby born which is great. In a nice big room, sun is shining just need to breathe. So was just me blubbering to mw, she's been great and calmed me xx
