Hello all!

I am very behind on messages - congrats @Zaalfruit (that labour story you're superwoman!) and @booandbumpp lovely babies 😻😻

I started induction Monday, it was sore getting first and the second 6 hours later was nearly unbearable as my cervix is very far back and upwards. I was dreading my next but my waters went at 8pm very spectacularly all over the floor and continued to gush until I went to labour suite for drip.

Started drip at 1am with my mum and DH there. A midwife covering for mine's break decided to do an internal for baseline and she was awful, I was in serious pain and didn't have the gas my midwife wanted me to have, she couldn't reach and was really going for it. Was left pretty traumatised and my midwife was raging.

Continued with drip and got good contractions of 4 in 10 using gas and air started to struggle around 7am and was given epidural before next internal. Still at 1cm dilated. Over next few hours went up to top dose of drip and still hadn't dilated any more. Consultant visited and recommended emergency c section as he was in a really awkward position and wasn't coming down. C section went fine, he needed forceps and I lost a bit of blood but managed to get stitched up and got my boy. He's 9.1lbs and very long with a big head 😹 born 29th September at 2.09pm, doc said there was no chance with his shape so I chose best.

Got home last night and although in a lot of pain I'm so happy to be out of the hospital and in my own space.

Good luck for inductions and sweeps today!

BettyBotter1 · 01/10/2020 11:14

@Quiffy congratulations!! Sounds like you were also a superwoman! Glad you have your boy and are back in your own space. Hope you can get some rest and start to feel more human again soon ❤

otterbaby · 01/10/2020 11:16

Aww amazing news @Quiffy! Photo welcomed when you have a minute, the few of us remaining could use the oxytocin 😂

@CharlieBalf good luck today!

@BntTowers I don't think it's too close at all - but agree that it might be worth casually mentioning the name and seeing what her reaction is.

@Treacle81 might be worth holding off if you're feeling that poorly - at least a day or two of antibiotics might have you feeling better prepared for labour??

Dunno if I should be asking for a sweep - I'm 39+3 and have no sweeps or induction booked in. Anyone else in the same boat?

SkyBlue20 · 01/10/2020 11:16

Ahhh congratulations on all of the babies, you ladies are superheroes! Hope you all and the little ones are doing well. It's so lovely to read about all of these precious little arrivals (and they're all so cute!) 💕

Good luck to everyone facing birth soon - you can do it!

xxx

Viletta · 01/10/2020 11:20

@Zaalfruit and @Quiffy congratulations on your babies!! Well done!

LexiM · 01/10/2020 11:20

Congratulations @Quiffy, glad your baby boy is here. Just out of interest how early was he? At least they were right about him being fair sized baby! That other midwife sounds awful, so odd how different they can be isnt it. Enjoy being at home and hope you are doing ok too.

NWnature · 01/10/2020 11:23

Ohh @Quiffy congrats!!!! Hope you get some rest and enjoy the baby bubble ♥️

@otterbaby I have nothing booked in, I think I will leave it til gone 40 before I consider anything personally.

I got a minuscule sign of colostrum from one boob last night but nowhere near enough to collect in a syringe. Off to meet a friend for lunch now and the restaurant emailed to say the lift is broken so it’s four floors up by stairs 😂 maybe that will stimulate some progress!

NWnature · 01/10/2020 11:25

@StrawberrySprinkles EDD twins! Yes I am trying to manage my expectations that it will be nearer the 20th than the 10th most likely. Anyway we know they will be here by Halloween! 🎃

Buzz22 · 01/10/2020 11:43

@Zaalfruit congratulations! She is beautiful. Sorry you had such a tough time of it. 10cm on arrival is crazy! Rest up and I hope you get home soon.

@Quiffy congratulations on baby boy! Glad to hear you are back home now.

@otterbaby I'm 39 weeks on Friday. Due date is 9th. Considering I am consultant led due to being high risk for pre term labour this baby is showing no signs of coming anytime soon! Midwife booked me appointments for 40 weeks and 41 weeks.

@Treacle81 sorry to hear you are still unwell. I hope you start to feel better soon. I really feel for you as I had labyrinthitis before and the dizziness and nausea is awful.

BntTowers · 01/10/2020 12:24

@quiffy I'm glad to hear your baby boy is here, they were definitely right with him being a good size. Glad you are home recovering now. Rest up and enjoy your new born snuggles.

Thanks for the names opinions. We aren't telling anyone else the names chosen until baby arrives so I think I'll wait and see of it's a boy or girl first then float the name by mil to see what she thinks.
No sweep for me today as it hadn't been booked in properly, got one booked for next Thursday but also having to have another growth scan next week some time as it looks to have stayed static for two weeks. Feel a bit deflated I was hoping that things would be kicked off naturally soon to avoid induction, I'll just have to wait another week or so now.

LostinAusten2 · 01/10/2020 12:26

Huge congratulations @Quiffy 🥳🥰 So glad that you and your baby are home and well. And you did so well getting through that adventure, best wishes with the recovery x

booroo · 01/10/2020 12:55

Come on baby it's your due date!! Something happen 🤣 how am I feeling less pregnant this week than last week 😂 I could symptom spot galore last week.. this week nothing 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 01/10/2020 13:20

@BntTowers we are the same, loads of little jobs I wanted dp to do but he hasn't. They're not essential so I don't mind if they don't get done but still, I did all the jobs I set out to do.

@bluemoon2468 I'm so happy it's October!

@Treacle81 I think I'd be tempted to wait if felt as bad as you do, not sure what you decided on in the end but hope all goes ok .

@NWnature I'm the same, anything I felt has now gone so just back to waiting!

I have a growth Scan this afternoon because she was measuring small, I'm not too worried though I think she's fine.

@StrawberrySprinkles mine also weighing exact same as yours!

@Quiffy ahh congratulations! Hope you start to feel a bit better soon take it as easy as you can.

@otterbaby I'm in the same position although not as far on as you, 38 plus 3

FourPlasticRings · 01/10/2020 13:49

@otterbaby I think it must vary a lot from trust to trust. Ours don't do sweeps until 40 weeks. My next appointment is at 40+6, but she said she'll book an induction in at that appointment if baby remains stubborn.

@booroo I'm the same. Nothing symptom wise and 40+0 today. Baby#2 is a full week later than their older sister. Not making a great first impression tbh!

@Quiffy congratulations! I hope you feel better soon.

otterbaby · 01/10/2020 14:05

@FourPlasticRings it still amazes me how much things vary trust to trust.

I rang up and they said they offer them from 39 weeks but they'll just do one at my 40+4 appt if no movement by then...doesn't leave much time if they won't let you go over 41 weeks without an induction. Just went on a long walk to try to get something going - pointless, probably!

@booroo I'm exactly the same - nothing happening! Then the woman in Boots pointed out how small my bump is considering I'm due next week 🙄 ssshhhhhh

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I'm sure everything will be fine, I had 2 growth scans because she was measuring small and then in my last appt, she was back up to 60th percentile. Babies are funny little things!

Aquablue1123 · 01/10/2020 14:17

Huge congrats to you both @booandbumpp @Zaalfruit! So happy for you both! You both did great 😘 xxx

Treacle81 · 01/10/2020 14:25

Hi girls! Wow @Quiffy sounds you went through a time of it! Glad you are home now with little Quinn ♥️ My midwife agreed not to sweep considering how ill I feel and instead called hospital who gave me 2 options go into hospital today and wait to birth or book an induction for Monday which is my due date . So I've decided to go in on Monday as really don't want to be in any longer than necessary. Got to know all the midwives and going back to same ward to be induced, so that's good. Mon evening at 8pm (found out that time is as its not first baby, the 24 hr pessary is only given to ftm so I'll get 2 6 hour ones instead). So just hoping I go in on Mon, get one inserted them sleep like a baby to the morning lol. I second not feeling any symptoms whatsoever! I felt more heavy, doing toilet more, crampy around 8 months - weird. My midwife advised me to tell the hospital that after the 2nd gel, to give me 2 hours to mobilise to see if I can go into labour naturally without the drip, do I'll ask for this. If I have to get drip ill be asking for epidural first xx

Aquablue1123 · 01/10/2020 14:35

Congrats to you too @Quiffy wow you were a trooper! Enjoy time with your boy! 😘

It's October! Due date month 🍁.
Natural induction methods still in full force for me and I have no niggles or movements ... let's see 6days to EDD (7th oct)

Prepping food all this week... slowly filling my freezer. 😬

Hope everyone's inductions go well today, thinking of you girls

Xx

otterbaby · 01/10/2020 14:54

@Treacle81 wow, exciting! Is there a reason why you either had to go into hospital or be induced - is it because of what you're suffering from atm? At least you know the end is near now 😀

Well we're now in a local lockdown. MIL is going mental, trying to reassure us that they've been really careful. I've told DH to tell them to bugger off for now - my focus is bringing baby home safely right now, not trying to figure out how to get around the rules so they can hold her for 20 mins!

Treacle81 · 01/10/2020 15:21

@Aquablue1123 oh sounds like you are getting prepared, well done. I cheated and got meal prep delivered but just not fit enough to cook. The meals are delicious and full of goodness so I'm happy with that. Be great for convenience if hopefully get to breastfeed. @otterbaby yes just the way I'm feeling and they think that the antisickness injections will work better but tbh rather be at home, resting. Hopefully feel better by Monday xx

Treacle81 · 01/10/2020 15:22

@otterbaby quite right with your way of thinking, we are also in lockdown, no one allowed in each others home and it will suit me just to have the 3 of us safe, together xx

Treacle81 · 01/10/2020 15:44

@Quiffy can I ask about the induction, was the gel sore getting inserted? I found the check to see if waters have broken with the speculum very sore 😩xx

georgiexo · 01/10/2020 16:00

Afternoon everyone!

I was actually due 25/9 but 6 days overdue so will now have an early October baby, trying to catch up on this thread as have been on a September one 🙈. Hope you're all well, have had 2 failed sweep attempt and another tomorrow when they refer me for induction Wednesday so either way will have a baby in 10'days ish or less but after 41 weeks already I am dooooonnnneeeee!

How is everyone x

Treacle81 · 01/10/2020 16:23

@georgiexo welcome to the October club 🙋🏼‍♀️! Sorry you are still waiting but we are a good wee bunch if I do say so myself lol . Fingers crossed for your sweep tomorrow 🤞. I've caught labrinthitis through a cold last week so haven't been well at all. I'm due to be induced on Mon which is my due date. I've started operation start labour! Just had a sex bomb lush bath bomb as it contains jasmine and clary sage. I can't bounce on ball due to dizziness so I'm hugging it and rocking back and fourth, tomorrow I'll be buying pineapple and getting a v spicy curry!! Girls! I just squeezed to see if anything came out nipples after bath and it did!!! The left side had more, its like a golden colour hence the name liquid gold. Mesmerising xx

georgiexo · 01/10/2020 17:10

@Treacle81 I've been trying to express but no luck! Still going with it as it's meant to induce labour. Sorry you are poorly! Ideally I want to go in naturally so have been doing everything. So tired of waiting. I've done all the relaxing I can, ready for next steps now! Lazy baby x
