Thanks, hoping to get some decent sleep before Mon but with not being able to do much I'm not exactly tired as such at night. I'd of being keeping as active if possible if not sick, so just try to maybe stay up as late as possible. Yea i'd probably dislike to go over. Is this your first baby? xx

HerondaleDucks · 01/10/2020 18:11

Ahh congratulations @Quiffy you rest up and take care of yourself! Well done!

Hope you're ok @Zaalfruit and you're being looked after.

I'm exhausted. Ennis has lost weight again, apparently my nipples are no good. I'm expressing as much as I can, now using nipple shields as I have useless nipples and I'm going to have to do a formula top up.
I can see why women give up breastfeeding... it's certainly stressful. The midwife reduced me to tears, I drove home crying cursing my stupid boobs.

I hope you get some sleep @Treacle81. Be kind to yourself and rest as much as you can!

georgiexo · 01/10/2020 18:24

@Treacle81 yes first baby, I know it's normal to go over and due dates are rarely exact but you can't help but get impatient when there's a date on it. Also could potentially get pessary Wednesday and have to wait 24 hours if it doesn't work, then repeat the process again so could be waiting until next fri/sat for a baby when I was expecting her last Friday. It's just long!! We'll see what midwife says tomorrow if any updates. Have a lovely last weekend of chilling before Monday! X

LexiM · 01/10/2020 19:13

@georgiexo welcome to the group, I hope your baby makes an appearance soon for you!

@Treacle81 sorry you haven't been feeling well, it must be good to know you will definitely meet your baby next week and I hope it goes smoothly for you. I think I would have chosen induction over potentially sitting in hospital for weeks waiting.

@HerondaleDucks your boobs are not useless, sorry to hear you've had such a crappy day. I'm sure you are doing everything you can to breastfeed and that's all you can do. Sending you lots of hugs.

LostinAusten2 · 01/10/2020 19:26

@HerondaleDucks just to say I’ve found breastfeeding incredibly stressful too and looking to start combi-feeding with formula - very glad our midwife is open-minded enough to be supportive, I’ve heard of lots who aren’t which is just daft! Sending you hugs too x

Treacle81 · 01/10/2020 19:36

@HerondaleDuck aw it's such a shame to hear you bear yourself up, please don't, you are doing the best you can. Sorry about that midwife who clearly wasn't supportive. Your body is new to all this remember and little Ennis is brand new too, it'll take time and if you need to top up, so be it. Many mums have to, it just needs to happen sometimes. Please try not be hard on yourself though. @LostinAusten2 hope you find combo feeding works for you. @LexiM yea couldn't bare the thought of being back in, I know symptoms worsen due to lack of sleep and I defo don't sleep better when in hospital! @georgiexo thank you, be good to hear you go into labour naturally after your next sweep, good luck for it. Let me know how you got on xx

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 01/10/2020 19:57

@otterbaby yes you're right was all fine thank you! Shes head down quite far down apparently. In the right position so happy about that. We have been in local lockdown for quite some time, we came out of it and now back in it again 😔 I am getting a bit fedup of grandparents pressuring too, I know if I said they could come in the house to hold the babu they would they don't seem to care about the local lockdown, I on the other hand am a bit of a scaredy cat. Maybe I'll risk it for one visit if they are very very discreet. Feeling a bit pressured from them and dp though it's only me who wants to stick to the rules.

@georgiexo welcome, at least you know the birth is in sight!!

@HerondaleDucks aww don't be hard on yourself, makes me sad to know you're feeling that way. I actually am hoping to be able to combination feed from very early on so dp can help out a bit. I would like it to all be breast milk if possible but happy with formula too and if I struggle with breastfeeding I really will not make myself feel bad about it.

BettyBotter1 · 01/10/2020 20:27

@georgiexo welcome, won't be long for you now at any rate!
@HerondaleDucks sorry the midwife made you feel like that, try to be kind to yourself, you can only do your best. I will be trying to bf and also trying not to feel bad if it doesn't work for me. No one should be making you feel like that, we're hard enough on ourselves.
@Treacle81 sounds like a good decision, I hope sleep comes for you
Sorry for those under strict lockdown rules again. As if anyone needs the added pressure or worry when having a baby :(

NWnature · 01/10/2020 23:07

Welcome @georgiexo ! It’s my first too, I’m due 10 October but have started all the old wives tales (dates, raspberry tea, pineapple, walking, nipple stimulation and sex so far!!)

@HerondaleDucks do not beat yourself up, you are doing amazingly and Ennis will pile on the pounds in no time!

I had a nice lunch with colleagues today so did a fair bit of walking and that one physio session managed to really sort the sciatica!! So impressed! My bump feels heavy now though, I hope I don’t get stretch marks in these final days/weeks. I’m trying to suss if it’s dropped but I don’t think it has.

I tried the pump this eve just to see what happens and both sides did see a tiny bit of colostrum which I then couldn’t catch as it was all stuck in the pump. So a bit of a faff but maybe worth doing every other night as another form of nipple stimulation 😆

Think I’m going to brave it and put a bit of my clary sage oil on my pillow this eve too!

Can’t decide whether to book lash lift tomorrow or for Monday as more likely baby will come next week or later 😂 maternity leave problems.

Hope all you new mamas have had a good day and sending all of us waiting vibes for a good nights sleep and more baby news tomorrow fingers crossed!

georgiexo · 01/10/2020 23:16

Thank you everyone! In my experience the old wives tales are just that. These babies certainly grow a mind of their own in there and come when they are good and ready too. Not when their mummies want 😩🤣

FourPlasticRings · 01/10/2020 23:28

Is the Clary sage stuff safe? I've got some clary sage from my last labour but haven't used it because of the warnings I've read:

'Clary sage is contra-indicated in pregnancy and not be used until you are in established strong labour. Save it until you really need it.'

www.activebirthcentre.com/birth-2/clary-sage-oil-discussion/#:~:text=Clary%20sage%20is%20contra%2Dindicated,baby%20because%20it's%20so%20strong.

Viletta · 02/10/2020 00:09

@FourPlasticRings there is big paper on complimentary therapies, if you search for clary sage there will be some info on how to blend it but they suggest this should be done by trained midwife. Ultimately there is not much evidence supporting that any of this really work www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2405844019364473

Viletta · 02/10/2020 00:14

There is a really great free breastfeeding class from Blossom antenatal that talks about establishing breastfeeding, correct formula feeding etc etc. I found it much more useful than NCT! If anyone finds it useful you can book it via www.blossomantenatal.com

NWnature · 02/10/2020 00:14

Oh eek I hadn’t realised it might not be! I’d googled and read somewhere to mix a few drops with milk in a bath. Maybe I better leave it then!
I also have a clary sage candle that a friend recommended - maybe I should do that instead as a bit of subtler approach!

FourPlasticRings · 02/10/2020 01:26

Thanks. The only stuff I have got was given to me by a trained midwife last time I was in labour and is a blend of some description (it has held its scent really well though).

Treacle81 · 02/10/2020 01:59

@BettyBotter1 thanks, hoping I get back to sleep after this little wake up toilet break! Feeling quite crampy! @NWnature I also want a kasg lift and tint, hoping to squeeze one I today or tomorrow after pedicure. Partner wanted me to cancel as still not quite 💯 but I really am dying for a little pamper sesh, esp as back in lockdown and can't see anyone in my home, it'll cheer me up. Also planning on tanning Sun might, before induction on Mon. @Viletta thanks for that, downloaded it xx

Treacle81 · 02/10/2020 02:03

I bathed with the sex bomb lush bath bomb this evening which contains clary sage 😱 think tbh prob need around 10 for anything to happen. It did make skin feel lovely and soft 😊. I can't do much physically due to this dizziness and nausea so ill be getting a spicy curry this evening, fresh pineapple throughout the day and fingers crossed can manage some sex xx

Aquablue1123 · 02/10/2020 02:41

@HerondaleDucks ahh I'm sorry you were made to feel that way about BF! This is the part I am dreading too, I'm telling myself now what will be will be but I know I will feel guilty too if it doesn't go to plan. You are doing great by the sounds of it though, and hopefully he will pick up weight quickly.

@Treacle81 ahh I hope you feel better soon, a nice pamper session will do you good. Although I did ask my lash girl about lash/brow lift during pregnancy and she said as we have increased hormones we tend to get oily lids and the product doesn't lift the lash as much 😬 not sure how true that is but just to let you know & @NWnature incase you wanted to check first before paying out.

@FourPlasticRings I've been getting reflexology from 37 weeks and the therapist uses clary sage and I've also been putting a little bit on my wrists but I got this bottle from my hypnobirthing teacher and it's a combo formula, 😬 I've been ok so far just hope it's actually ok.

I did loads of meditative colouring yday to try and switch my mind off and just be!! I feel like I'm focusing too much on natural induction methods to the point were I'm now putting pressure on myself 🤦🏼‍♀️ sooo I have decided just to relax and hope the little man arrives on his own! 🤣 let's see!🤷🏼‍♀️

X

MrsD1990 · 02/10/2020 03:08

Congratulations @quiffy and @Zaalfruit on the arrival of your babies!!!

I've really struggled to come on here since my baby was born - was going to wait to post anything until i caught up with all the posts I'd missed but I was never catching up so sorry if I've missed other births!

Being on here tonight has reminded me how much I love keeping up with how everyone is doing though. Best of luck everyone ♥️♥️ amazing how we've kept each other updated over the last 9 months and now we're in our due date month!!

Spark27 · 02/10/2020 04:28

Hi ladies, just catching up during the mammoth night time feeding and pooing session that seems to go on for 4hrs 🙄. I'm the same @MrsD1990, I love coming on to see how everyone is doing, but then dont get the time to reply.
Amelie is now 3 days old and my milk has come in. My boobs are massive and sore, and she doesnt want to sleep at night, which is great. Her kicking me all night in pregnancy was definitely an indication of what was to come. 😐

Sorry you were made to feel bad @Herondaleducks. I get so annoyed with mws enforcing their opinions on others. In the hosp there was 1 mw who was similar - 'you must stick with bf, no mixing of bf and expressed or formula, no dummies at all' etc. Then when we got home DD hadnt wee'd in ages so we gave her some formula, and then she wee'd. Obvs my milk wasnt in and she needed a bit more. Fortunately she has happily gone between breast and bottle with either formula or expressed. When the community mw visited the next day I was worried I was in for a lecture but she just said that fed is best, and that whatever works for us is absolutely fine. She was really lovely and reassuring. It's just so annoying and upsetting when you get a militant one xx

blankiesandunicorns · 02/10/2020 05:26

Just wondering if anyone has any advice. Started getting tightenings yesterday evening not particularly painful at all, about 20 mins apart but died off. Then at 1am and 5am woken to really painful ?contractions which lasted about 3-4 mins, so way longer than you'd expect. The 5am one was much worse and died off slowly leaving me with a dull ache in lower stomach. Anyone heard of it being like this in early labour? Was my due date yesterday so guessing something is happening

BecLJ · 02/10/2020 06:12

@herondaleducks I am really struggling with breastfeeding. My milk didn't come in until day 4 ( now day 6) and I still cant get the baby to latch on so I am using formula instead. It's fine and what the baby needs but it's heartbreaking as all I want to do is feed her as I had planned. I am going to a breastfeeding help session at the weekend but am scared each day that passes makes it less likely I will be able to do it. It's so hard isn't it?

Currently in the 4th hour up with baby trying to get her settled so feeling a bit emotional!

Congrats on all the gorgeous new babies!

Treacle81 · 02/10/2020 06:23

@Spark27 aww beautiful name, love it. If my boobs get much bigger, I'll fall over lol and @BecLJ are you using the self made bottles for feeding or did you buy formula also? I haven't bought any but hearing how many seem to be struggling I think I'm best to buy just in case? It's hard to keep up name as this new app doesnt let me scroll through before I message so I think it was you @blankiesandunicorns mentioning the cramp? That dues seem quite long, I'd maybe start timing them, see how frequent they become xx

blankiesandunicorns · 02/10/2020 06:26

@Treacle81 yes it was thank you, thing us since the bad one iv had some much more tame ones, still painful but shorter and manageable. Seems weird to have 2 that we're randomly so painful. Downloaded a timer app and will start using when I'm up and about, trying to rest in between for now

Treacle81 · 02/10/2020 06:32

@blankiesandunicorns it does sound promising! Hope it's manageable xx
