The mw at your place sound grim. Surely with that many tears they could give you something else?

We found that our little one had a bit of mucus still in her lungs due to the quick delivery. Just keep an eye on any gagging/vomming after feeding. Ours did for about 30hrs, nothing major but obvs we needed to tilt her to clear it. Seems to be clearing up now though xx

booandbumpp · 01/10/2020 04:40

@Zaalfruit congratulations! She is gorgeous! I can’t believe you arrived at 10 cm that is crazy! Can’t they give you some codiene or something a bit stronger? And I also can’t believe they had a go at you about a hat! Ours got us 2 out that had been donated - the red is the hospitals but I’m keeping it cos she suits red I’ve decided 😂
@LexiM they’re mixed here as small trust. Usually they try and keep bays separate for post and ante natal but I think with coronavirus one has to be a “pending test results” bay so you end up where ever there’s a bed
I ended up having a cry to the midwife and she’s moved me into the side room that they try not to use as the shower doesn’t work. Had a couple of hours sleep in between feeding attempts and Piper is already feeding much better - latching quicker and for longer. I just feel bad waking her every 2 hours as she’s always zonked!

Treacle81 · 01/10/2020 05:31

@Zaalfruit awww she is adorable 💞 sorry to hear your of your pain and pain in the ass mw! Just watch taking codeine as will constipate you terribly so you need to drink plenty of fluids and take a laxative if you are given this. I assumed the hospital provided all these wolly hats I seen. I gave got a few but also 0-3 as couldn't find one specifically for newborn, washing them did shrink them though. As long as she's warm don't worry about it not matching. Just try rest up and I'm sure shell latch on when she's hungry. Sounds like she had a traumatic arrival xx

LexiM · 01/10/2020 05:59

@Zaalfruit huge congratulations and massive well done to you, you have been amazing despite the lack of help. I bet you are relieved you went in when you did, i can imagine it was hard for your DH seeing you in so much pain. I am sorry that the care is so patchy, I hope things improve for you and your recovery is speedy. She is just perfect though, I think she looks quite well matched in that adorable photo. Cant wait to hear what name you choose!

I'm just awake, although feel like I cant complain as I did sleep through until now which is an improvement on yesterday. Now I dont have any work to focus on and the house is pretty much ready I feel the days are going to be long! I think I need to plans some things to do and presume baby isnt coming anytime soon otherwise I will go mad waiting.

Hope all of you with babies here are managing to get some sleep, thinking of you all!

LexiM · 01/10/2020 06:01

@booandbumpp glad the midwife felt sorry for you managed to get a bit of sleep. I can imagine space is restricted because of Covid. Also happy for you that she is feeding well, long may it continue!

LostinAusten2 · 01/10/2020 06:05

Huge congratulations @Zaalfruit on getting you and your DD safely here ❤️ So so sorry to hear of your hospital/midwife experience: 10cm dilated, no pain relief... you’re absolutely amazing for getting through it. And I’m raging on your behalf regarding the hat: everyone was given a hospital one at our ward and they were sensible enough not to give new parents a hard time!

Please make sure you get any pain relief you need now - I was on oral morphine regularly post-birth and very glad I took it.

And as @booandbumpp was saying - if it gets too much trying to feed and get your baby to sleep the midwives should /definitely/ help out: eg taking the baby for a few hours so you can sleep.

Sending you hugs and best wishes x

Treacle81 · 01/10/2020 06:26

I've had a rotten, up every 2 hours sleep and now along with the dizziness have constant nausea and a really sore left ear and all bunged up. Please pray no baby today for me, need to feel better first 😭xx

booroo · 01/10/2020 06:35

Happu due date to
The other 1st of October girls 😁😁 babies we are done now!! Get a wiggle on 😂

Well done @Zaalfruit! So sorry you weren't listened to but she's beautiful! X

ferntwist · 01/10/2020 07:02

Congratulations @Zaalfruit and @booandbumpp, what beautiful babies!

FourPlasticRings · 01/10/2020 07:03

Wow @Zaalfruit! She's absolutely adorable. I'm am really unimpressed with your NHS trust though. They sound awful to keep fobbing you off like that, then keep you waiting six hours for stitches, not helping with breastfeeding and practically no pain relief! And then to tell you off about the hat!! We forgot a hat with our first and they just whipped out a donated one with zero fuss. When you feel better, see if you and DH can do a birth review thing with someone as lessons need to be learnt.

With the breastfeeding, I found YouTube helped. Look up the nipple flipple technique. If that doesn't work, put baby's nose at the nipple (strip her down and do skin to skin if she won't wake), squidge the skin above and below the areola, wait until her mouth opens wide and just shove as much as possible in there. DD really struggled to latch so I ended up doing that until we got better with the flipple. Good luck!

Treaclepie19 · 01/10/2020 07:06

Congratulations @Zaalfruit! I'm so sorry they didn't listen to you. I was 8cm when I arrived at triage because they didn't listen to me either.
With the formula I'd keep trying if you want to use it. Dd wasn't sure at first but got used to it. She likes the formula made at home better though.

Congratulations @booandbumpp! Piper is such a beautiful name. I love it.

Well done @booandbumpp and @Zaalfruit... I can't believe they wouldn't let you in, you'd think they'd have learned by now. Which part of the country are you in if you don't mind me asking? So glad baby is well but please do ask for more meds.

Bit nervous about going in today. I was so sore after my failed sweep yesterday (this is most likely due to pretty bad SPD rather than the actual sweep for those of you waiting for sweeps) I could barely stand by 7pm and went to bed. I've just woken up. Likely to be the last full night's sleep I'll get in a while!

Just can't wait to have little one out and in my arms. Oh and find out what it is!still team yellow so we're keen to find out now.

Best of luck everyone who is having scans/sweeps/inductions and appointments today.

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 01/10/2020 07:29

@booandbumpp aww congratulations, I love her name!!

@Zaalfruit oh my goodness congratulations! Amazing you have your baby! But I am so mad at them for not helping you sooner what was wrong with them?!

otterbaby · 01/10/2020 07:30

Congratulations to the new mamas!! @Zaalfruit that's crazy that you arrived fully dilated...Wonder Woman! And @booandbumpp love the name! Lovely photos. I haven't been keeping count but I think the girls are outnumbering the boys by quite a few now!

Hope you both are recovering well xx

BettyBotter1 · 01/10/2020 07:41

Congratulations @Zaalfruit, she looks perfect! Glad to hear from you, was worried about you. So sorry to hear about the lack of care it sounds like you received, pretty shocking they could continue to ignore you like that. I hope you can get the stitches checked out soon, better pain relief and feel better x

BntTowers · 01/10/2020 08:12

@Zaalfruit well done, you are amazing to get through all of that. It sounds like it was so awful I think you need to consider a formal complaint. I hope you get proper pain relief, you definitely deserve it after going in at 10cm then having to wait for so long for stitches.
She's such a lovely little girl I'm sure you will feel better once you are home and can get settled in.

I hardly slept last night, overthinking this sweep I have this morning. I hope it works as I am so ready for baby to arrive. I think I'll need a bath and a nap this afternoon, but then I'm also thinking that DH has been so relaxed on getting the house sorted and so many little jobs aren't done yet that we really need another month or so to sort things out! (Not that would be happening as induction is booked in for 15th)

BntTowers · 01/10/2020 08:15

Ok I just want a couple of opinions, dh's mum had a still born baby many years ago, they called him Robert. The only boy name we are really loving at the moment is Robin. Do you think it's too close?

FourPlasticRings · 01/10/2020 08:19

@BntTowers I don't think so. However, the only way to truly gauge it is to ask your MIL what she thinks of the name. I wouldn't mention Robert when asking though, just a casual, 'We're thinking of Robin for a boy.' and see if she has an obvious reaction to it.

LexiM · 01/10/2020 08:57

@otterbaby I seem to remember when the group were finding out their baby's sex the boys took a while to catch up as well!

@bnttowers hope your sweep goes ok today. I personally think Robin is fine, for me it's not really similar at all although I appreciate the first three letters are it's a different type of name to me.

@CharlieBalf hope it goes well for you too and any pain will hopefully result in a baby soon. How exciting to find out finally whether it's a boy or girl!

bluemoon2468 · 01/10/2020 09:33

@Zaalfruit and @booandbumpp huge congratulations! Both of your girls are so beautiful!

Happy October everyone! 🎃 Whatever happens we'll all have our babies in our arms this month! 🧡

Treacle81 · 01/10/2020 09:37

Morning girls! @CharlieBalf good luck with induction today ❤️and congrats to all the Oct 1st due dates! I have my sweep at 12 but I'm maybe going to ask her to leave it. I have been up all night feeling sick, ear pain and dizzy. Finally vomited at around 6am (actually wet myself at the same time) 😩but still so very dizzy. Thinking though that if my ear is now sore maybe this is my body's way of getting rid of the infection. Hope so. Called doc and waiting on call back, might need antibiotic. Just don't know if should get sweep or not. @BntTowers is also run the name by her just in case but think it sounds different enough xx

NWnature · 01/10/2020 09:54

@BntTowers I love the name Robin, I don’t think it’s too similar but maybe try and suss it out with her before hand to gauge reaction.

@Zaalfruit huggggge congratulations!!!!! You are bloody amazing! What a story! I’m so sorry you’ve had poor care and really hope they get you some painkillers soon. 10cm on arrival!

Good luck @CharlieBalf - can’t wait to find out what you have !

blankiesandunicorns · 01/10/2020 09:56

Congratulations @Zaalfruit she is beautiful. These babies are making me want mine so badly! So proud of all you ladies who have had their babies and done so well

Good luck for your induction today @CharlieBalf

NWnature · 01/10/2020 10:01

@Treacle81 hope you feel better! Def play the sweep by ear as makes sense to try and get some R&R.

I don’t feel like this baby is coming anytime soon at all, still feel totally normal. My brain still doesn’t quite believe there is actually a baby in there and we are going to be parents soon😬😳. Doubt anything will happen over the weekend then I have another mw appointment on Tuesday then second acupuncture on Wednesday. My EDD is 10 October.

StrawberrySprinkles · 01/10/2020 10:19

Sorry I’ve been a little absent recently - all fine just getting a little impatient 😶 my EDD is the 10th too @NWnature and I feel the same as you! Keep telling myself baby could be as late as the 24th just so I don’t get my hopes up 😅 I was sent for a growth scan this week and baby is measuring 7lbs 6oz, head down and back to front - so seemingly perfect weight and position...keep thinking baby seems ready so why aren’t they coming?! Obviously too comfy in there 😂

A huge congratulations to everyone whose baby’s are here! They’re all so adorable and you’ve all done so well 💕 @Zaalfruit sounds like you had a crazy time with it all - I’ve just caught up on the posts and can’t believe how much the midwives dismissed you! Hopefully you can get some better painkillers! And congratulations @booandbumpp! Piper is a lovely name ☺️

Good luck to everyone having inductions, sweeps, scans etc. today!
