@CharlieBalf I don't know much about them other than what I've read. My friend had one the other day and she said it was a really positive experience even with the that her partner wasn't there the whole time. She said he was there when it was important and other than that they were both fine. They did the pessary and she was allowed out to go for a walk with him. Don't know much more than that though x

otterbaby · 30/09/2020 16:28

@CharlieBalf no experience but exciting that you'll be meeting baby soon!

@BntTowers well done, it'll all be worth it when you have some nice easy meals when baby is here!

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I haven't even thought about buying clothes, I probably should...my maternity leggings have really been put to the test haha, I don't think they'll last much longer.

We set up the next2me about 2 weeks ago - I have to basically worm myself down to the end of the bed when I get up for nighttime wees. Luckily my husband sleeps right through it 🙄

39+2 today and I am So. Tired. I'm sure you're supposed to get a burst of energy before labour so I feel like I'm still nowhere near. Had a bit of a wobble last night and tried to book myself in for a sweep but decided against it this morning. I've started to feel really anxious lately, I just wish she would arrive so I can have some sort of control over what's happening.

Treacle81 · 30/09/2020 17:06

I wasn't sure if it was the ball making me dizzy but yea reading up on the chances of him turning during pregnancy, I'm going to leave it. Funny you say about UFO I've started hugging the ball on my knees rocking pelvis back and fur ward instead 😊 @CharlieBalf every NHS Trust will be slightly differ but I'm sure they all go through the induction process with you when you arrive into the hospital. I'm due my sweep tomorrow and just hope she can do it. Batch cooking sounds fab, I've realised thar just not fit enough so ordered lots of meal prep meals instead. We got them when feeling lazy or want to cut down and they are well tasty so know what to expect. I'm also absolutely knackered, defo know energy burst but I guess when my nesting was in force a few weeks ago that was mine. Noticed chest is starting to hurt and heartburn creeping back this week. Ready now!
xx

CharlieBalf · 30/09/2020 17:08

Lovely to hear some positive induction stories! I'm just going to take it as it comes, feel prepared for a 48 hours in hospital waiting and breathing through the pain. Got my jelly babies and audiobooks loaded so I reckon I'm ready?

No idea what the deal with partners is but I'm sure hubby will be allowed in once things get going. Might be easier to deal with it all on my own actually 😂

NWnature · 30/09/2020 17:14

Ahh @CharlieBalf so excited for you :)

I totally agree with you all on wanting the baby to be here so the responsibility isn’t all on our body anymore.

Acupuncture went well (I think). The lady was lovely, first of all I was sat propped up and she did several in my lower legs and a couple in my head! However within like 2 mins of her leaving the room I felt mega faint and had to press the buzzer. She then asked me to lie on my side and did some in my back and leg- that was much better and so just rested my eyes for 20 mins or so til she removed them. Felt fine afterwards and pretty normal now. Am booked in to see her same time next week! Would recommend for anyone who is looking for other alternatives to get things going ☺️

BettyBotter1 · 30/09/2020 17:27

Mmmm jelly babies... Good luck @CharlieBalf looking forward to hearing your baby news soon.
@BntTowers mission accomplished when you have run out of Tupperware!
@Treacle81 I'm 39+5 and I think my baby is turning from back to back, I think that's why I felt reduced movements yesterday. All went well at scan today and baby's back is now towards my side. Midwife said baby's head is looking up though... Let's hope these babies can turn themselves!
I've always been a bit curious about acupuncture @NWnature I hope it works for you.
I have been super sleepy today and taken 2 naps. Feel much better for it.

LexiM · 30/09/2020 17:29

@CharlieBalf so excited for you to meet your baby soon! Definitely ask about having your partner etc. as here partners are now allowed in for induction process.

@BntTowers you sound nice and organised and will be so glad to have them when baby comes!

@NWnature I'm so interested in the acupuncture, I had it for an injury years ago and loved it. Will be interested to see if you get any feelings soon!

Midwife appointment went well, for 38 weeks my bump is still measuring smaller for previous centile lines but as it has grown in line with my last one which was followed up by a scan MW is happy it's all fine. Baby was moving lots and heart rate was good. She said his head is as low as it's likely to get without contractions starting and unlikely to move. The discomfort I have been feeling is also a good sign although no real indication of when baby will come. I've said I think I will decline the 40 week sweep but probably will have one at 41 if baby isnt here as would do anything to avoid the induction process. She said generally they book for induction if 12 days over due date.

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 30/09/2020 18:11

@CharlieBalf yes you've got this! The jellybabies sound nice, you've just made me add some to my weekly shop list! Sometimes I think that too actually, I prob could get into the zone a bit more on my own and then dp comes for the important bits! Let us know how you get on.

@NWnature the acupuncture sounds really lovely. Someone on the positive birth company Facebook group said they went for a pregnancy massage and the masseuse asked if she wanted her to induce labour by doing a certain kind, she said yes and she had the baby the next day!

@LexiM our trust also said will induce latest usually 12 days after due date as they like all babies here by 42 weeks so I'm happy with that x

FourPlasticRings · 30/09/2020 18:35

Exciting @CharlieBalf! Good luck X

@BntTowers I froze all my batch cooking in freezer bags. Takes up less space in my tiny freezer. And I have no tupperware.

Glad you enjoyed the acupuncture @NWnature. I'm a bit of a needlephobe but it sounds like it was helpful.

Treacle81 · 30/09/2020 19:44

@BettyBotter1 my baby is on the exact same position as yours! I've moped and cleaned all my house and tried to keep as active as can be when no dizziness. Feel much better than earlier 😊 oh @Zaalfruit I hope no news is good news, been thinking of you all day. Hoping I sleep well tonight without getting up, that would be fab xx

booandbumpp · 30/09/2020 21:22

Hello everyone! Piper made her arrival this morning at 9am. I went from 3-4 cm and 1.5cm thick at 6am to pushing her out at 9am! They only checked because i was in so much pain and it was a bit of a surprise (I actually had to stop pushing and just pant with her head out as the midwife hadn’t got her gloves on in time - I nearly swore a lot at her but resisted!). Bad news was the epidural only worked down one leg which was horrible but it’s over now. I really really really thought I couldn’t do it at lots of points. I definitely cried a lot during the pushing stage when she didn’t seem to be moving because she was facing side ways and not backwards! After a senior midwife figured out the problem and turned her/helped, she was out in 3 pushes!
She’s diddy, only 2.6kgs so I’m in over night to establish breast feeding. I really need to go home tomorrow. I can’t sleep in between on the ward for all the alarms and monitoring and commotion on the wards (sharing a bay with 2 induced ladies who seem to be having contractions, and one lady who is on a monitor all the time! I’m sure they’re also not thrilled at sharing with me and Piper).
Hope to see lots more babies on here soon.

Zaalfruit · 01/10/2020 00:27

Girls I gave birth at 4.25pm today . I was in so Much pain And agony I couldn’t function . I kept calling the triage line and labour ward they kept fobbing me off at 3 dh decided we shall go in. I was screaming in agony I had spent from 4 pm the day before not been able to lean or sleep in bed . We went in at 4pm and I was screaming the triage place down as I was in so much pain turns out I was 10cm dilated . 14 doctors and nurses were in the room. The baby head was crowning they started screaming push as my heart rate and hers were was starting to drop. I gave birth in a record time of 25 mins. But I tore so much - 5 tears the stitchup was more painful then anything . Then the stitches on one place was so awkward I waited till 10pm for a doctor to
Come and do it . It hurt sooo much.

However I am happy she is here now . Dh cried when I gave birth he got so emotional because I was crying so much as it was too late for me to get given any form of pain relief.

@booandbumpp well done - omg so small ! That’s so cute . What a lovely name - love it we don’t have a name for dd yet. I just got moved to a ward and everyone is facing timing there partners . I need some rest and my catheter is hurting me soo much . However all I’m doing is listening to convos.

Treacle81 · 01/10/2020 00:46

Aww congratulations @booandbumpp age is just perfect! That was a quick labour!! Glad all ok ang hope you feed her up OK ❤️🤞xx. @Zaalfruit there you go, you done it! To arrive at triage fully dilated - no words 😯😱👏well bloody done! What did she weigh in the end, so glad you are OK xx

HerondaleDucks · 01/10/2020 02:29

Congratulations @booandbumpp. Piper is perfect! Sorry to hear about the epidural not working properly.
I know what you mean about pushing stage! Well done you!

@Zaalfruit what a champion!! Bless your heart 10 cm before you went in is no mean feat! I'm glad she is here safe and sound. You rest up and take care of yourself!

Spark27 · 01/10/2020 03:34

Congratulations @booandbumpp. Piper looks gorgeous. Hope you manage to get some sleep and get breastfeeding established. My little boobie monster has been on me all night, and I can definitely feel my boobs starting to get heavy and tingling with the milk starting to come in now. xx

Wow, @Zaalfruit. When they said 10cm I bet you wanted to say 'I bloody told you so'. You could have gone in so much earlier if they had let you. But it's amazing what you achieved with no drugs. Sorry to hear about the tearing. I only had one tear but I can say that its definitely more comfortable than when I had my episiotomy last time. Make sure you keep up with the pain meds xxx

Zaalfruit · 01/10/2020 03:48

@Spark27 they are only giving me paracetamol for pain relief my hips are killing me and my stitches are bleeding non stop. I’m struggling to bf and she doesn’t like the ready made formula so we are stuck .
She is so quiet all the other babies are crying and screaming in the ward . She has just slept through it all. I reckon the delivery was so fast - she is so tired . Just changed her outfit as she pooped through it . I don’t even know if the nappy is done right as the midwife had changed her and put the nappy on. She weighs 6.4lbs ! She is a carbon copy of dh.

Also we forgot to take a hat - the midwives told us off and dh had to go buy on from sainsbury the pack he got is 0-3 months and sooo big on her . They don’t even match anything I brought with me .
