@Spark27 you are a trooper !! Your birth story sounds amazing ! Also how’s dd finding it?

@Buzz22 and @HerondaleDucks hope your dogs are okay x makes me so sad when animals are not feeling great.

@herondaleDucks that such a cute pic x

@blankiesandunicorns I had my 40 week appointment even thou I’m 40 weeks on Thursday - they did the membrane sweep on me it hurt soooo much and so much blood came out . On my way home now . I should have worn a pad - knickers will go straight in the bin. How annoying is this I’m 2-3cm dilated but my cervix isn’t soft at all.

Dh is driving me mad - he is in a grump because baby isn’t here yet. Like I can force to eject her out . Also I should be mad at him. I’m trying not to get mad - as I want baby to not feel like the environment is hostile.

blankiesandunicorns · 29/09/2020 16:13

That's amazing @Spark27 well done.

@Zaalfruit I don't think I want a sweep even though I'm moaning about nothing happening because I remember it being painful last time. What does it mean if you're dilated but your cervix isn't soft? Is that because of the sweep?

blankiesandunicorns · 29/09/2020 16:13

@HerondaleDucks lovely pic, hope your dog is better soon.

Zaalfruit · 29/09/2020 16:24

@blankiesandunicorns that’s what the midwife said - your cervix doesn’t seem soft - but you are 2-3cm dilated and baby’s heads really low - which is why you are constantly peeing and feeling intense pressure. Baby is still really on the left side of me . I really hope I can get my water birth - I won’t be disappointed if I don’t get it - but I’m so scared of birth that a water birth idea calms me . I asked my hospital about induction - they said at 41 weeks + 3days is when they will schedule in an induction.

Aquablue1123 · 29/09/2020 16:49

Ahhh how cute is your photo 🐶 👶🏽 @HerondaleDucks, wondering how our two dogs will be with the baby when he arrives.

@Spark27 wow what a story, sounds like you did amazing.

@Zaalfruit hope you feel ok after the sweep, 2-3cm already, eek sounds like it will be soon!

blankiesandunicorns · 29/09/2020 17:04

I'm similar @Zaalfruit I'm nervous about labour after the one with my DD was bad. And hoping for water birth too if I can. Hope it's quick for you and you're not in too much pain

Treacle81 · 29/09/2020 17:20

Woo @Zaalfruit that'd great news that you are 2-3 cm dilated 👏 did the mw say it was normally to bleed after the sweep. Hospital wanted me to come in so I did but couldn't sweep me as couldn't even feel cervix it is so far back and bit even dilated at all. You are therefore much more advanced than me, sayung that my DD isnt till 4 days after yours. Just hoping I'm dilated for sweep to happen Thurs 🤞 Woo that sounds like the Labour I'd dreams @Spark27 can't wait to hear what you've named her xx

justanothermamma · 29/09/2020 19:01

@Spark27 You really are superwoman, well done!

@Zaalfruit How are you feeling at the moment?

Had an offer on the house today, lots of thinking to do! X

otterbaby · 29/09/2020 19:22

@Zaalfruit I'm thinking about having a sweep end of this week. Did they tell you to do anything after to help? Are you supposed to stay active?

Zaalfruit · 29/09/2020 19:43

They told me to bounce , go on walks. However I am in so much pain - I dunno if it’s Braxton hick. This is the first time I have felt intense pain. It hurt so much when the sweep was does.

Treacle81 · 29/09/2020 19:52

Great news @justanothermamma great timing! Well if you are happy with what they offered. My work colleague just dropped off lots of gits for baby, one spoiled boy, love it all, was great surprise 😚 @Zaalfruit what time did you have it? Ive heard it can make you go into labour but saying that apparently only 1 out of 9 work. I'm quite worried about mine tho now, maybe get a hot bath n pop some paracetamol xx

Treaclepie19 · 29/09/2020 20:40

I had a sweep after my waters broke. Did have some blood but I was already leaking pink waters.
From what I've read, if you're ready go into labour it should help but if not then it won't.
I think it helped my contractions come on faster.

Wow so much to catch up on again.
@Zaalfruit sounds like good advice from Treacle, I hope you feel better soon
@Spark27 that sounds like you did amazingly!
@HerondaleDucks cute pic, hope dog feels better soon and your dog too @Buzz22
@justanothermamma congrats on house offer, hope it works out for you

I went in for reduced movements today, all was fine but because I'm full term they want to do a scan tomorrow and will offer to induce me. I only phoned to check if they wanted me to come in as it makes such a fuss on your notes about calling. As long as scan is fine I won't be going for the induction. Seems a but ott to be but it's good that they want to be vigilant.

Zaalfruit · 29/09/2020 20:46

The midwife told me not to have parecetomol :( said I won’t understand if I get surges - I dunno if I regret it now. I was on no pain - feel like I brought it up on myself The pain. ( I had the sweep at 3pm)

otterbaby · 29/09/2020 20:54

@Zaalfruit hopefully it's the start of contractions?? If it's general pain all night then might be worth ringing again to check what they think about it.

LexiM · 29/09/2020 21:06

@Buzz22 sorry to hear about your dog, hope everything is ok.

@Spark27 sounds like my ideal labour! Glad you are home now. How was your older daughter meeting baby and was she aware of her birthday?

@HerondaleDucks thanks for all this info, really helpful for me! Baby looking so adorable ❤

@Zaalfruit I've got my fingers crossed this is the start of something for you. I was under the impression BH arent meant to hurt so hopefully it's the real deal. It's so hard not to over analyse every feeling isnt it! I would definitely call if the pain is really bad and you arent sure.

@BettyBotter1 glad you are doing ok, definitely worth checking if you arent sure of movements and glad they are keeping an eye on you and you have options.

I'm hoping for a better nights sleep tonight although not holding out too much hope. Got my midwife appointment tomorrow, so will be interested to see if she has anything useful to say about baby's position.

HerondaleDucks · 29/09/2020 21:25

@Zaalfruit fingers crossed for you. Breathe through the pain, count to 4 in through your nose and 6 exhale through your mouth. I found that really helpful to ground myself through the pain.

The sweep stopped my contractions oddly enough, so I ended up on the drip.

I'm happy to give as much info as I can if it is helpful at all!

BecLJ · 29/09/2020 22:17

Congratulations @Spark27!

I got home with my baby last night and I'm not going to lie it has been a little tough with issues with breastfeeding but loving having her here finally!

Early Oct Babies Part 9
Spark27 · 29/09/2020 22:19

Thanks for all the lovely messages ladies. It definitely wasnt the birth I would have chosen as I always said I wanted all the drugs. It was bloody painful, and I kept saying I couldn't do it. But I had to. In the immediate aftermath I'm completely in awe of myself for doing it and amazed at my body. I also physically feel a lot better than I did when I had the episiotomy. Absolutely knackered though.

DD was thrilled to meet her little sister, and learn that they share a birthday. Very cute. I just need to keep reminding her to be gentle x

blankiesandunicorns · 29/09/2020 22:43

@Spark27 you should be proud of your body, the recovery will surely be much better without the drugs and interventions. Well done!

@BecLJ she's gorgeous love her hair, my DD has loads like that can't wait to see if this one does too! She's a beaut

Zaalfruit · 29/09/2020 22:58

@Spark27you are amazing - how you went so far without medication . Rest up now so proud of how well you did.

@BecLJ She is stunning - I have heard bf is hard . All we can do it try our best Xx How are you feeling?

@HerondaleDucks ( I think I made a mistake with getting the sweep- I am in so much pain) I wet myself because I couldn’t walk fast enough to the bathroom and literally you could see blood pouring out down my shorts , felt so ashamed but dh was sweet he turned the shower on - and helped me put a new fresh knickers and pad on. Getting a random back pain. I can sit on the floor and on the ball - but laying on the bed is pain. Been trying the breathing exercises - thank you x

I’m going to try and ride out the pain till
Morning - if it feels really bad in the morning will get maybe go into triage . Dh has an important presentation 2mrw so I don’t want to mess it up for him, with false labour and going into triage .

@LexiM - sleeping during pregnancy I envy this women. Hopefully you get some sleep . What position is baby in now?

@BettyBotter1 that’s really good news that they are being really on top of things . Hopefully everything is fine . Deffo any time you feel reduced movements go in.

BntTowers · 29/09/2020 22:59

@BecLJ look at all that hair, how wonderful! Glad you are home and hope thing start to get easier for you

NWnature · 29/09/2020 23:05

@BecLJ so adorable!!!

Oh @Zaalfruit that sounds terrible! Really hope you get some rest tonight and don’t worry about DH presentation- you and the baby are way more important, trust me x

justanothermamma · 29/09/2020 23:40

@BecLJ What a beauty!

@Spark27 You should be so proud, you bloody smashed it!!! I can't believe how quick you got home. Love that DD was pleased too!

@Zaalfruit Don't hesitate to call triage if you feel unwell, the presentation can wait if baby is coming!! Don't allow yourself to stress, just make sure you don't let yourself suffer unecessarily my lovely, thinking of you 🤍.

Zaalfruit · 30/09/2020 03:26

I can’t take the pain - in tears now. Called hospital they said - possible pain from sweep - possible contractions but not close enough to to come in. I can’t sleep - I can’t sit , walking hurts . My lower stomach is in agony .
