@justanothermamma I cant help you I'm afraid. I'm exactly the same as you. Last few hours I've had a continuous lower backache, tightening and some painful twinges. Taken myself up for a bath, popped a paracetamol and googling 'how will I know when labour starts' 🤣

Is this something, or just general 40w aches and pains?

justanothermamma · 27/09/2020 16:55

@Spark27 I mean I deffo had the period like cramps last time but I was 40+3 with DD so it seemed more likely to be labour. But at the moment I'm 38+4 so for some reason I can't process it as being the same thing? But all these other things seem like red flags?! Oh god 😩 I feel AWFUL, ha. But I'm happy to feel this awful if it means baby is coming - I know I'll be deflated if it isn't baby mind (which it won't be, I'll just be unlucky feeling like this for no real reason!) 🙈.

BettyBotter1 · 27/09/2020 17:05

@MrsK89 congratulations! Well done you, sounds like the last part happened fast. I hope your husband made it!

@Spark27 and @justanothermamma no idea but sounds possible, fingers crossed for you

BntTowers · 27/09/2020 17:42

@MrsK89 congratulations! Sounds like you had a quick delivery in the end. Hope you are managing to rest.

Gosh this thread is moving quick at the moment! Feel like I can't remember half of what I've read. I've had more success with colostrum collecting today 1.5mil this morning and another 2.5 this afternoon. The breast pump definitely helps, thanks for the recommendation! Definitely feels weird though.
I keep feeling like I get a few early period symptoms, I always normally get really bad thigh ache and back back which had been happening on and off the past few days but I don't think there's too much going on at the moment. I've had a little make up pad with Clary sage and lavender oil on stuck down my top all day hoping that helps!

booandbumpp · 27/09/2020 18:08

@MrsK89 congratulations! Sounds quick but under control so that is good. Well done for managing on gas and air!
@justanothermamma oh I’m getting period pains so I’m hoping it means something. On Friday I wasn’t dilated and today I’m 1cm and I had period cramps in between so hopefully means something.
I had a sweep this afternoon - about 12.30 - and now I’ve been in the bath for an hour with such bad cramps and feeling so sicky! I’ve just had some paracetamol and my plan is to lay in bed and watch one born every minute and hope the sounds encourage baby to come out Wink
I really hope things are moving.

LostinAusten2 · 27/09/2020 18:10

Huge congrats @MrsK89! 🥳🥰❤️ Hope you get a chance to recover, and enjoy your first days with your little one x

ferntwist · 27/09/2020 18:27

Massive congrats @MrsK89, what a wonderful quick labour. Hope you’re feeling okay and enjoying meeting your gorgeous little one xx

Treacle81 · 27/09/2020 18:30

@MrsK89 congratulations! So glad youve had your baby with just paracetamol and gas and air after that massive wait to be induced, you were deserved that! What did you have, weight? Delighted for you ❤️ awww @HerondaleDucks and @LostinAusten2 oh how sweet, sounds like babies are doing great, think tbh they usually lose weight after birth, esp if a little jaundiced. Walks outside and positioning crib at window for day light also great hearing Ennis sleeps after a little heating of his bed 😍 great advice! Girls, I bought a oerib bottle to use after birth, as I had episiotomy before I am guessing I'll be v sort down there, got it on Amazon, v long nosske to help douse water on that area whilst you pee. @Zaalfruit I wasn't aware how extensive your mh history is and that your mum has it quite bad. Glad she is controlling it on current med and sorry to hear it sounds that your mh team have let you down. I also have mh issues but fortunately the hormones during pregnancy have really helped my anxiety. I think we are only allowed 41+5 in Scotland, 12 days over is limit xx

Treacle81 · 27/09/2020 18:33

Those that are having period and back pains, v exciting times!! Sounds that labour I'd defo imminite. Can't believe this is your EDD date @Spark27!! I've also known you were Sept and keep thinking when you've had baby, I'm not long after!! @Zaalfruit great food preo, well done. Don't put to much hope on water birth mind as you might for medical reasons or just purely if no space not get one and don't want you pinning your hopes up to be let down xx

LexiM · 27/09/2020 18:34

@MrsK89 congratulations! Does your little one have a name? Glad it all went well, I hope you are feeling ok and enjoying these early days.

I feel rough today and baby is moving a fair amount. Doubt that means anything is happening though. I swear all my bones are stretching right now, i am just so uncomfortable. I've been really grateful to have no major pains until this week but think this is probably it until baby arrives! Hope he doesnt keep me waiting too many weeks.

LexiM · 27/09/2020 18:36

Sorry my post split

@Spark27 happy due date and fingers crossed for you baby doesnt keep you waiting too long.

@Zaalfruit when you make the sausage rolls, do you keep them raw and freeze to cook later or have you already cooked them? I want to try and make some but I'm not at all good at cooking so have no idea!!

HerondaleDucks · 27/09/2020 18:43

If it's helpful my experience of going into labour was having a little gush of what I thought was pee. Then subsequently 4 more gushes which went into pads. Top tip if you're not sure if its pee or not... you have to smell it. The midwife is very insistent to know this.

Then a few hours later I had period type cramp and backache, so I had a bath and paracetamol.
Then it felt like intense pressure in my bum. And I say bum it was like I needed to poo.
Then the pains came on with the pressure like a intense cramp.
We started timing them, they aren't interested until you are 3 mins apart but we called anyway to give them heads up when it was 15.

It was the description of the pressure that got them to ask me to come in.

Fingers crossed all you cramping ladies! I hope it comes to something happening soon for you.

Zaalfruit · 27/09/2020 19:20

@LexiM I followed this recipe it was soo Easy (I made them quite big )

www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/mini-sausage-rolls

I will just freeze them after I have made it all - I had lots of sausages cooked and frozen from a bbq earlier this year - I defrosted them , peeled them and then filled the pastry .

I also Made an easier version of using frankfurter hot dogs - let show you a picture they were super simple - the frankfurters I just pat them dry with tissue . One made I just freeze them in portions sizes for me and dh which we will eat most likely with mash and salad. ( I Eat a lot of junk ) the picture shows how they look after being baked.

Pm me - I find cooking gives me order - per of my mh. ( doesn’t mean it always tastes great lol - fish and beef is so hard to cook ) I tried to make beef wellington once never again inside was still stone cold .

Thank you @Treacle81 I know my mh is bad . I also have to keep it really low key or my mil will blame me if anything happens to the baby or dh. I keep repeating to myself all I want is a healthy baby and if a water birth doesn’t happen it doesn’t matter as the babies health is the most important thing .

Early Oct Babies Part 9
LexiM · 27/09/2020 19:41

@HerondaleDucks that's really useful. I'm really paranoid about not knowing when my waters go! Then I keep telling myself loads of people have babies and it's not an issue haha. I am determined to stay at home as long as possible and living so close to the hospital I hope once things get going I can stick by that!

Thanks @Zaalfruit will have a look at that. I've seen my mum make them before and they look easy enough for me but she never freezes them, we always eat them! 😂

Treacle81 · 27/09/2020 19:42

Oh I'm glad you said that @LexiM, I am too embarrassed to say when I see everyone batch cooking amazing food as I can't cook either! So thanks for that recipe @Zaalfruit, I'll have a look, also going to give savoury scones a bash that @Spark27 made as looked up recipe. I'll need to buy cooking utensils, flour, sieve etc lol got scales so that's a start. @HerondaleDucks thanks for the Labour signs heads up, bum pressure sounds awful tbh, so you called when contractions were 15 mins apart? I take it tho if waters break, call them? @Zaalfruit yes, that's how to see it, if you get your planned birth great stuff if not, as long as healthy baby, all that matters. You have us if you ever feel the need to talk about your mh if you feel you can't talk with family, please remember that xx

Treaclepie19 · 27/09/2020 19:46

Definitely call if your waters break and remember contractions don't always behave in a pattern as they should. An unplanned homebirth would have been my fate had I not pushed to go in.
I'd agree with the bum pressure. I also went for a number 2 about 4 times during the day after my waters had broken.
Dont freak out if your waters aren't clear either. Mine were completely pink this time.

justanothermamma · 27/09/2020 19:56

@HerondaleDucks @Treaclepie19 I just had 'pop' at home last time and felt like I weed myself! My waters didn't go until the very end and when the did DD was out in three pushes 😳 if my waters go at home I'm having a home birth ahahah. I'm getting painful tightenings (I can't remember what early contractions were like really, I just know they got worse) every 13 mins at the moment. DD has just fallen asleep cuddling me because Mummy has a 'sore tummy' and DH has carried her to bed 😩

HerondaleDucks · 27/09/2020 20:23

Yes absolutely call if your waters break... I erm probably should of called sooner.
Mine were a light yellow colour. When I got examined at 11pm she was like oh yeah waters have definitely gone.
I remember there being more when it came to actually pushing him out. But I was a bit spaced on the gas and air so its a bit fuzzy in places. Apparently I demanded my DH call my mum and she was on loud speaker just chatting away for over an hour whilst I got closer to the end. I don't remember it that well though. I was like er what when the midwife was talking about how lovely my mum was after I had given birth.

But yes! Bum pressure is the only way I can describe it. That's when you know its happening!!

Spark27 · 27/09/2020 21:15

Yeah, you're supposed to let them know if your waters go. Sometimes they want to check, and if you think the baby has poo'd in them you need to go in. Also if they go and you dont go into labour in 24hrs the risk of infection goes up.

My aches and pains seem to have gone so I think it was just 40w tiredness and aches. I'm not expecting anything to happen tonight. Got a full day at home with DD tomorrow. Not really looking forward to it if I'm achy. She's had a busy day today though so I'm hoping she'll be happy to stay in and play with her toys.

I'm annoyed I didnt think to make sausage rolls. Not sure I have the energy to get the ingredients now to make them xx

Zaalfruit · 27/09/2020 21:23

@Spark27 - I dunno how you manage with another child . I have been in a serious bad mood this whole Week .

I weighed myself and had a shock - I have put on so much weight ! It’s scary. However I can’t stop cooking and eating sweets and chocolates .

Does anyone else feel that baby is on one side pushing against you - my right side is raised way more as the baby pushes constantly .

I have a midwife appointment on Tuesday - I’m going to show them all the stuff about induction and also them if we can set up a date - as my mh can’t handle having baby in me . I believe that I will be fine when she is out . It’s the uncertainty I can’t deal
With.

Also I made the chicco next to me

  • feel really Proud But I forgot that I need to buy the sheets . Anyone know where I can buy them cheap?
AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 27/09/2020 21:42

@HerondaleDucks sounds like everything is going really well!

@MrsK89 aw amazing congratulations!

My hospital induces if overdue normally between 10-14 days after it says on their website (obv if nothing else is wrong) I'm quite pleased about that, I want to try give myself as much of a chance as I can. X

otterbaby · 27/09/2020 21:47

@Zaalfruit I hope they listen to you and get you sorted. I've gained a lot of weight too, luckily my midwife hasn't said anything about it really.

We got these sheets for the next 2 me, they're really soft!

@MrsK89 amazing news, congratulations!!

@justanothermamma ooo that sounds really promising, I hope it happens soon for you!

Zaalfruit · 27/09/2020 22:33

Thank you perfect @otterbaby ordered it !!

Deffo hope they listen to me .

Spark27 · 27/09/2020 23:43

@Zaalfruit its definitely a challenge sometimes. Makes me realise how 'easy' my first pregnancy was as I only had myself to look after. But it does sometimes make it feel like time goes quicker, and you dont have the time to analyse everything. But with a kid you do just have to get on and deal with stuff. The real challenge will come with the lack of sleep from a newborn, but the inability to nap when the toddler is here 😬. Why do we do it to ourselves 😅 xx

Treacle81 · 28/09/2020 05:52

Morning girls, had a little cramping through the night but nothing significant, woke to feeling wet but was white when wiped so thinking just excess discharge. Hate that word lol. 39 weeks today! Good luck with induction @Quiffy hope you had decent sleep and not feeling too nervous ❤️ Also know it's a few if your EDD today so congratulations 🎊 xx
