@blankiesandunicorns
@Zaalfruit we will be 40 Weeks this week though 😁 that's what I keep Telling myself when I'm being a cranky cow (which is most the time tbh) so It can't go on much longer now 🙈😂
Although Mine feels way to Comfy in there just know she's going to forcefully evicted again lol I've tried all the old wife's tales and they don't work so instead I'm going to be grumpy and eat chocolate whilst not even trying and maybe that will work 🤣

@Treacle81 glad you got a good nights sleep

@MrsK89 hope things progress quickly for you but not so quick your husband isn't there 😁 x

otterbaby · 27/09/2020 09:00

@BecLJ congratulations! What a beautiful photo!

@NWnature ours was sold out of loo roll too! I ended up finding some Andrex at our local coop. Bought 24 rolls because I'm terrified of not having any for my fragile postpartum lady bits 😖

@Zaalfruit wow that is really late for induction! Apparently our trust doesn't let you go over 41 weeks, I think you can decline this and go to 42 weeks but you have to go in for daily monitoring.

39 weeks tomorrow and desperate for her to come now...I feel like my hormones are all over the place though and I'll never have enough oxytocin at one time to get her to arrive ☹️ go from laughing until I cry to being super snappy with DH because I'm just so uncomfortable.

FourPlasticRings · 27/09/2020 09:06

I don't think they can force you to wait until 42 weeks if you don't want to. Not since the Swedish study that found an increase in stillbirth. The RCOG information says:

'“Current UK guidance recommends that induction of labour should be offered to women with uncomplicated pregnancies who go beyond 41 weeks to avoid the risks of prolonged pregnancy, including stillbirth. We support the continual review of clinical guidelines as new evidence emerges to ensure best practice.'

www.rcog.org.uk/en/news/rcog-response-to-study-on-induction-of-labour-and-stillbirth-risk/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CCurrent%20UK%20guidance%20recommends%20that,emerges%20to%20ensure%20best%20practice.

Now, it's my understanding that as soon as you are 41 weeks along, you're beyond 41 weeks (hence 41+1 etc) so they should, by their own guidelines offer you induction at 41+0 and you can press for this if they don't.

Zaalfruit · 27/09/2020 09:20

Thank you everyone I’m going to show them this - it doesn’t help that I’m off my meds for anxiety ( me and dh decided that I won’t be on them for pre conception and whilst I’m pregnant) also that during pregnancy I have felt myself slide into a hole of not feeling great - with lock down and working from home. Feel Guilty That this might be a cycle my mum suffered terribly after giving birth to my brother - with me and my sister she was only 17and 18 my dad mum raised us. My. Mum She is on lithium now and doing really well. ( my brother last year at 21 became her legal guardian in terms of her Medical needs - he ensures she takes her meds - she is actually able to function - made lots of knitted items for this baby and hasn’t had a period of where she is in a slump) the mental health unit from my doctors or hospital haven’t been in touch .

LexiM · 27/09/2020 09:22

@BecLJ congratulations, lovely photo of you all. Hope you are doing ok.

@MrsK89 hope things are moving for you, cant wait to hear more news! Must be so hard for Dad's at home waiting to hear when they can go in.

@NWnature no loo roll in our supermarket either, we just joked everyone that stocked up last time must have again. We arent even in lockdown, people are crazy!

I ache - my back, my pelvis etc. It feels like someone is stretching my pelvis, which I guess is what is happening. We had such a productive day yesterday and to be honest I probably over did it. Got all our winter clothes out, the weather has definitely turned and I'm cold. I got the fluffiest softest loungewear jumper from tesco yesterday, love it so much! We cleaned our bedroom and changed my bedside table to make room for the bedside crib. I dont want to get the crib out too early mainly because of space and the cat but I might trial a night or two just to check the set up works.

I have no idea what date you can go to here for induction based on due date, I think it might be offered at 10 days over. Ever hopeful I wont have to find out but mentally I'm prepared for a late baby...whilst also being impatient seeing all the baby announcements! Because baby is due in middle of October I really want an October baby haha

LexiM · 27/09/2020 09:25

@Zaalfruit sorry it's a worrying time for you, nobody need to feel anxious during pregnancy so it must be hard. I am glad your Mum is doing ok at the moment. I think it's so bad the mental health team haven't been in touch, definitely keep pushing it and at the hospital when you give birth. You deserve better care.

FourPlasticRings · 27/09/2020 09:29

@otterbaby Probably a good shout. I didn't wipe last time though (second degree tear) just washed then patted dry.

@BecLJ congratulations!! Lovely photo. And I really like the name.

Ooh, things are ramping up then @MrsK89! Good luck!

I'd agree with @ferntwist that feeding a baby feels better but it still felt really weird to me at first. Mine wouldn't latch either and I got really sore nipples. Caused a lot of stress, but I was lucky to get some really good support and we pulled through. She still breastfeeds once or twice a day now at 2 years old! It's a very convenient way to feed and very cheap, plus they really seem to find it calming and obviously it's got health benefits for both of us so I'll do it again if I can but can't say I especially love it, personally.

@booroo Chocolate is my best friend at the moment! I've just given up hope and am waiting until eviction day.

My trust induces at 40+10 usually but I might insist on as close as possible to 41+1 if I get fed up with it! To be honest it's not the physical discomfort (though there's plenty of that too!) It's more the mental pressure of being someone else's life support system when it'd be perfectly capable of being its own life support system if it just got the heck out of dodge. My stomach seems to have gone slightly numb so I don't feel much movement internally during the day like I used to but can feel it if I put my hands on my stomach and concentrate. Which of course makes me very nervous about reduced movements and the possibility of missing them. I just want the kid out so that responsibility is not all on me anymore!

Spark27 · 27/09/2020 09:34

Morning ladies, just trying to catch up on the messages so sorry if I miss anything (a lot!)

Cogratulations @BecLJ. Great photo. You all look so happy xx

My trust are similar @Zaalfruit. They wont offer a sweep until I am 41w. So even though I have an appt at 40+4 I then have to go back at 41w for a sweep. I dont think they'll book me in for an induction til I'm 42w either. I'll hopefully find out on thursday xx

Hope things are progressing well @MrsK89. Sending lots of good thoughts.

It's my EDD today. Cant believe it. No real signs of anything happening. Got some twinges and aches, but think they're standard full term aches and pains. Expecting this one to need forcefully evicting at 42w xx

Zaalfruit · 27/09/2020 09:38

@FourPlasticRings I feel the same - reduced movements and she should be out now . Her dad can look after her - I’m tired and in pain . He has had great sleep , the ability to sleep , meet out and mix with friends - whilst I have not just been in the mood to. I told him first few weeks he needs to do a lot for me .

I have binged on chocolate and crisps - since last week as I’m so bored of waiting . Going shopping outside is such a faff now with wearing a mask . When your about 100 weeks pregnant the mask is just annoying

I made pizza rolls , small lasagna portions , Shepard pies , chicken pasta , and cooked mince meat in various ways all he needs is to bunge them in the oven with cheese and make spaghetti or get tortillas to make wraps and I even told him he can buy the side salad if he feels to lazy . ( plus about 40 sausage rolls) this is during the last week - been al bored and trying to occupy myself .

Spark27 · 27/09/2020 09:44

You might want to pick up a packet of moist toilet wipe things @otterbaby. I remember last time wanting to pat it and be quite delicate down there.

I wasn't too fussed by expressing, but then I didnt try it til I was in the hospital after I had had DD, and probably felt a bit sick anyway! It is weird watching your nipples getting pulled in to the machine. It's so odd how long they can go- like monkeys thumbs 🙈. Mine peeled after a few weeks too. So gross.
I'm hoping I can bf this time round, but prepared for some expressing too and the sound of the machine becoming the soundtrack to my life again! If you do end up expressing the milk storage bags are really handy xx

LostinAusten2 · 27/09/2020 09:47

Huge congrats @BecLJ 🥳🥳🥰🥰 Holly is such a beautiful name and so glad you’re all doing well 😊

And very best wishes @MrsK89 - hope all is going ok, we’re all thinking of you!

Can’t believe today’s the first week anniversary of our little one arriving... incredible times ❤️ x

justanothermamma · 27/09/2020 09:54

@BecLJ Congratulations! Well done Mama! Hope you're recovering well, thinking of you.

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I was like you with my first, it was just a waiting game to see when baby would come! It can be bit draining to think you have to wait another four weeks, but hopefully it won't be that long 🤞🏼 and even if it is, you'll have something perfect at the end of that four weeks and you'll quickly forget how long you've been waiting!

@otterbaby I know what you mean about oxytocin, I'm a total mixed bag of emotions all the time, happy to tears, so definitely not getting the good stuff long enough to do anything! In terms of wiping post birth, I couldn't last time! I would 100% recommend buying a jug to have near the loo. While you have a wee, pour the jug with filled lukewarm water over your bits so if it's an acidic wee it doesn't sting and then pat dry with a soft towel after - if you don't have a jug or forget, lean right forward when you wee with both hands on the floor and your wee will run the other way into the toilet so it doesn't sting - sounds mental, but honestly the relief is quite amazing. I got told that a few weeks after DD because I'd been suffering with a bad tear and avoiding drinking because I was scared to wee and so me wees were really acidic and stingy! I ended up on a catheter but once the catheter was out I used the techniques above and my god, it helped so much!!

@Zaalfruit That does seem late for induction, it's mad how trusts can have such different policies, it should really be a blanket thing! Would certainly help manage the expectations of pregnant women better anyway! As soon as baby is here make sure you get the support you need, the teams are there to help you get through everything one step at a time. Don't shy away from help or be scared to take it. I waited too long to ask for help after DD and if I'd had my anti anxiety meds a lot earlier it would have changed a lot for me I reckon, I'm off them now but I know they helped should I feel the same this time round.

Zaalfruit · 27/09/2020 10:17

@LostinAusten2 wow already a week how time flies !! Hope you and baby are doing well.

@MrsK89 thinking of you ! Hope you are doing well.

@justanothermamma thank you for your kind words ( I know mad right - how different hospitals are ) All I want is to go into
Labour and have a water birth - I brought a portable bidet . My friends swore by it after giving birth .

booandbumpp · 27/09/2020 10:19

@FourPlasticRings I feel EXACTLY the same. I’m on the ward again (third time this week) with a cannula getting fluids, alone and frustrated. DP could watch her if she was out. I can’t keep doing this, anxious that I’m missing reduced movements every day!
I’m being induced tomorrow and praying for it to be speedy!!

justanothermamma · 27/09/2020 10:41

@Zaalfruit I hope you get the birth you want, I'll keep everything crossed for you! But if for whatever reason, it doesn't happen like you want it to, don't upset yourself and just put all your focus into little one ❤️.

HerondaleDucks · 27/09/2020 11:37

Congratulations @BecLJ what a wonderful photo.

Hope you are doing well @MrsK89. You got this!

Ok so just reading through the messages so I can catch up. My advice about the bits is a jug to pour warm water as you pee. I did my first post baby pee in the shower in the delivery room.
I also think spritz your bits has been brilliant. I just spray it onto my pad after the water and then gently patting dry.

Ennis was weighed at 3 days yesterday and he had lost a lb so I've been boobing and expressing with a pump. It feels like being a cow being milked but its not painful. Just strange.
He also has a little bit of jaundice, but apparently that's common for GD babies. But I'm hoping keeping his fluids up and having some fresh air in the sunshine should help!

Also @Spark27 tip about paper towels when changing baby has been SO useful because it also means the mat is less cold and so much easier to catch those cheeky wees.

I have finally had a bit of sleep now. I feel somewhat human today. I can't believe Ennis is 4 days old today!

We are just getting the hang of boobing now.

My DH and mum have been so amazing at helping me, and it's helped so much with the baby blues I was getting on Thursday night and Friday morning. Mainly because Ennis did not like the moses basket at all! And I got really emotional and burst into tears. Turns out it was because it was cold, so we've been putting a hot water bottle in there before putting him in and it helps to settle him. But until I knew that I genuinely thought I was doing everything wrong.

Good luck all with the upcoming inductions. You have all got this as you are strong amazing ladies! They do also feed you a lot of tea and toast in hospital, just get your partners to feed it to you to keep you going.
A straw for water was also very handy when i was coming to the end and actually pushing out.

I must say no one warns you hoe much of a full body workout it is, your legs, arms, whole body will ache afterwards.

Love to you all. I will do my best to keep checking in!

justanothermamma · 27/09/2020 12:30

@HerondaleDucks You sound like you're doing an amazing job! I'm thrilled for you, it's amazing what the human body can do! Lots of love to you and your little family 🤍. X

LostinAusten2 · 27/09/2020 13:22

Aw @HerondaleDucks - having the same time of it over here - haven’t had a work out like this in years! Our little chap lost 7% weight and has some jaundice as well, midwives seem happy that just time and feeds will sort us out (also think you’re right re trying to get outdoors for the jaundice - it sounds so silly but feels like a really big deal to finally go outside with him!) x

Aquablue1123 · 27/09/2020 14:23

@BecLJ congratulations! So happy for you! 😘 xxx

MrsK89 · 27/09/2020 15:05

Thanks guys. They gave me a sweep at around 7, I was only 2cm and as soon as I had that, I was having contractions 1-2mins apart. Got myself to 4cm on one dose of paracetamol then they let me go to labour ward at 11. Waters broke as soon as I sat in the room and baby was born at 12pm. Had gas and air from 11 till birth.
Both doing well. Although I'm exhausted xx

Spark27 · 27/09/2020 15:14

Yay. Congratulations @MrsK89 xx

HerondaleDucks · 27/09/2020 15:45

Congratulations @MrsK89 brilliant going!!
You rest and take care now.

justanothermamma · 27/09/2020 15:56

Well done @MrsK89! That last bit went so quick! Hope you and baby are well x

Zaalfruit · 27/09/2020 16:15

Congratulations @MrsK89 well done !! Hope you and the baby are doing well. Rest up xxx

justanothermamma · 27/09/2020 16:32

Just a query on 'signs' ladies:

Today I have spent all day feeling like I'm on my period, awful cramping, painful tightenings that take my breath away and I'm really loose and just had a clear out (sorry tmi - but considering I'm on codeine it's a rarity!!), unbelievable back ache as well!

Any thoughts? Could something be happening here? X
