Eventful @BntTowers! That was like me. Arrived at around 4.30 and baby was born by 6.03!

Just reading back properly ❤ I'm missing a lot these days!
Little one is doing well though, she's 5 days old 😮 Absolutely crazy. I've even had some sleep!

@Treacle81 glad you are home!

@Treaclepie19 aw I'm glad everything is going well with your little one!!

Just wondered if anyone can give me advice on this, i practiced with my manual breast pump for the first time today to see if any colostrum would come out, it did but as soon as it did it made me feel really queasy and I just didn't like it it was all weird to me. So just wondering, does anyone know if I will feel like this with the baby and pumping when my milk comes through? I know you won't know but just wondered if the feeling is totally different when it's your baby doing it other than a pump?! X

Treaclepie19 · 26/09/2020 22:50

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I hated expressing last time. It made me feel ill. I didn't get on with breastfeeding either but it wasn't because it felt the same way.
The pump is definitely not the same feeling as baby. I used to just see it as a means to an end.

@Treaclepie19 thank you for that, made me feel better. I don't know if it's because when I looked down I could see my nipple being taken in by the pump (sorry tmi 🤦‍♀️) and it just all felt so strange and alien to me. Maybe I'll be better with baby because I won't actually be able to see it happening. Also no idea if I was meant to be trying the pump out but I was curious! X

FourPlasticRings · 26/09/2020 23:15

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy pumping is weird! Makes me feel like a dairy cow. I never bothered with it prior to birth so no idea if it feels different afterwards to before. However, if you breastfeed when pregnant, often breastfeeding does turn your stomach somewhat and that's called aversion. The women who have it always say it's not an issue with the newborn when it arrives, just the toddler. I imagine you're feeling a similar aversion. Personally I'd not bother again until baby is here.

bluemoon2468 · 26/09/2020 23:15

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I feel exactly the same about the pump! I have to not look and watch TV and distract myself otherwise it makes me feel really sick seeing milk come out of my nipples and seeing them being sucked in there!

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 26/09/2020 23:26

Thanks everyone feeling much better now. I definitely won't be trying again it's firmly back in its box 😂 x

NWnature · 26/09/2020 23:40

Oh interesting! I was going to give the pump a go next week too to see if it helps bring the colostrum as haven’t had much luck hand expressing. I have manual and the elvie so was just going to try - like you @AutumnBabyWinterMummy kind of curious!

Feeling super tired today but no “signs” I’m 38 weeks exactly!

Bought pineapple and more dates in the weekly shop! All the loo roll was gone again in our supermarket 🙄

Treaclepie19 · 27/09/2020 00:06

Glad you're feeling better!

I know it'll be coincidence and the fact I always have early babies but I'd been drinking pineapple juice and eating nakd bars on the run up to babys arrival. The day before she was born was dhs birthday as well and we had a lovely chilled out family day with a takeaway.
I reckon it helped the oxytocin flow 😊
Like I say though, ds1 was 17 days early and dd was 16 days early so I must just bake them quickly!

So after a failed induction lasting 2 days my baby girl was born via C section at 9.30pm ! Currently in the post natal ward until Monday.

She isn't even that big! 7 lbs 11 but I had the most waters my midwife had ever seen apparently! Sorry, Tmi!

Anyway, here is Holly born 26 September and I love her so much already xx

I so want baby out !!! I’m tired cranky , moody and annoyed 24/7 I also
Feel like baby has shifted upwards and completely to the right. Also I read in my book my trust doesn’t offer induction to ftm until 42 weeks !!!

BntTowers · 27/09/2020 05:47

@BecLJ congratulations! Such a lovely name and photo. Rest and I hope you get home quickly.

@Zaalfruit me too, I just want baby here now.

MrsK89 · 27/09/2020 05:55

@BecLJ congratulations!
I was given the gel at around 2am and have been getting contractions every 2-3 mins but they won't check me till 7am now.
Hoping DH will get here on time if I'm ready to go onto delivery ward

Treaclepie19 · 27/09/2020 06:08

Congratulations @BecLJ!!

@Zaalfruit really well thank you 😊 It's just flying by though. Trying to take in every minute as this will be our last baby.

Huge congratulations @BecLJ, what a great photo!

ferntwist · 27/09/2020 06:30

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I just wanted to echo what other posters have said, that breastfeeding your little one is completely different from using the pump. I didn’t really like the hand pump either and only really found it easy to get that much milk when my boobs were already bursting. With my baby it couldn’t have been better, once we got over a bit of initial soreness on one side. There’s a real dynamic between baby’s sucking and your breasts filling. It felt so cosy all snuggled together and I had some wonderful deep sleeps after popping her back in her crib, which I’ve since read is because of all the good chemicals it releases.
It took a while to get into our rhythm but then I ended up feeding for 17 months, which I never expected to.
Good luck with it, you’ve got this!

ferntwist · 27/09/2020 06:31

Just to say as well I know that’s not everyone’s experience but wanted to let you know how different your cuddly baby will feel compared to an artificial pump!

ferntwist · 27/09/2020 06:32

@MrsK89 Woo-hoo that sounds like good progress. Good luck for your 7am check. Are you able to move around at all if you want to?

justanothermamma · 27/09/2020 08:11

@MrsK89 How are you getting on lovely?

@ferntwist That sounds really lovely, my DD wouldn't latch, I'm curious to see if this baby will!

Treacle81 · 27/09/2020 08:25

Morning girls, thanks for the lovely messages, I slept from 10 till 7- was wonderful 😊 @BecLJ offt that was a long time but what a beautiful ending, great pic of you 3, congratulations ❤️ @MrsK89 hope you are like 6 cm dilated!!! 🤞😊 @AutumnBabyWinterMummy that's made me feel better that I never tried the pump, I'll just wait till baby is here I think! Been sick enough recently lol xx

blankiesandunicorns · 27/09/2020 08:36

Congratulations @BecLJ that's a lovely picture!

@MrsK89 how was your 7am check?

Same as what others have said, want baby out now and not because I'm uncomfortable as I'm actually ok and been very lucky in that way, I'm just inpatient!

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 27/09/2020 08:41

@NWnature happy 38 weeks! I'm 38 on Monday. Can't believe the loo roll gone. Typical all of this happening just as our babies are arriving 🤦‍♀️ oh I think I'll get the pineapple juice good idea

@BecLJ aw congratulations so sweet and love the name!

@Zaalfruit I really want baby here too just feel like my body been completely taken over and I'm so uncomfy but on the other hand have heard it's best if baby can stay inside until 39 weeks if poss so I'd be happy with her to arrive any time after then. I have 8 days until then.

@MrsK89 oh exciting hope you're ok

@ferntwist thank you for that! 😊

@Treacle81 yes I would say wait lol you don't want to feel any worse, it really wasn't the nicest experience for me, sure it'll be fine with baby though! I did however find it useful getting it all and putting it all together then dismantling to wash and sterilise it all, although I know I'll have to sterilise it again. It was all so faffy so a practice was good x

I'm kind of feeling because I haven't been told I need an induction at the mo for any reason that I still have really potentially upto 4 weeks of waiting for baby to arrive to take me to 42 weeks. Anyone else in the same boat and just will be waiting around like me? X

bluemoon2468 · 27/09/2020 08:56

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I'm 39+1 but yes will be waiting until 42 weeks before any kind of intervention I think, so potentially have just under 3 weeks to go! This is such an exercise in patience 😬

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 27/09/2020 08:57

@bluemoon2468 3/4 weeks seems ages doesn't it!
