Morning all!

Ugh. Can't belive I had to stay in hospital and I don't even have the baby to take home. Scan this morning and another meeting with the consultant to decide if we need to get things moving. Feeling little one kick a bit more so hopefully can just stick to plan after a healthy growth scan.

All this talk of sexy times makes me feel so big and cumbersome 😂 I honestly don't know if I could reach to indulge in 'self care' and sperm smoothies are definitely not on the menu!

LostinAusten2 · 23/09/2020 08:46

Just wanted to send some love your way @LexiM - so sorry about your dad, very glad you were with him and he’ll have been so proud of your baby ❤️

Also best wishes to all, inc @CharlieBalf, and just wanted to say it’s going to be worth it - completely overwhelmed by amazingness of this baby 🥰 xxx

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 23/09/2020 08:57

My brothers wife had a baby yesterday, she was 4 days overdue, is her second. She was due to have a sweep today but her labour came on by itself instead. Started feeling things at 2.30pm, got to birth centre at 5.30pm and had baby by 7.15pm. Water birth no intervention. Just a little good news story! She makes it sound easy! X

Zaalfruit · 23/09/2020 09:15

@Spark27 I wake dh up - cos it makes me so mad that he sleeps so well.
I cleaned the blinds yesterday it was a boring job but it ate up a lot of my time . I’m bored already of Maternity Leave.

Zaalfruit · 23/09/2020 09:18

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy omg that sounds so easy . Quick and easy birth ! Congratulations to her.

@CharlieBalf - good luck !!

MrsK89 · 23/09/2020 09:44

@Quiffy it was only a couple of hours to be fair but the contractions came on strong and fast out of nowhere. I was 37 weeks though then and had to have episiotomy and forceps delivery so I don't think that helps my view on inductions. My body feels like it's getting ready though so fingers crossed everyone has a nice easy speedy delivery 😁

justanothermamma · 23/09/2020 10:05

@Quiffy My little one seems awfully comfy too, I doubt she'll appear before next week!

I feel that we're all in agreement that sperm is off the menu for the forseeable 😂.

@Spark27 That made me chuckle - let you arm swing out dead quick as if you're dreaming "Oh did I wake you? I'm so sorry.."

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I cannot stomach dates 😂 I tried and failed! What lovely news, that birth sounds IDEAL.

@CharlieBalf Can't reach, ahahahah, I know what you mean, we can't even indulge in self care because of these babes!

@MrsK89 Fingers crossed induction is better this time! X

otterbaby · 23/09/2020 11:50

@Treacle81 that sounds awful! You're in the best place though, hopefully you start feeling better soon.

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy that sounds amazing! If only we could all be so lucky!

How is everyone feeling about visitors with the new rules and now that we're getting closer? We're going to have my in-laws over a few days after and still seeing about my parents flying over in early November. I don't think we'll have anyone else round for quite a while!

BettyBotter1 · 23/09/2020 12:10

We'll be having parents for sure @otterbaby and if siblings want to come we'll have them too. All separately I should think so we aren't more than 6. I'll ask them to wash hands before cuddling baby and I'd quite like them to wear masks too. Might only let grandparents actually hold baby, not sure yet. Are your parents the ones in USA? Quite a big undertaking for them to be sure they can come.

justanothermamma · 23/09/2020 12:11

@otterbaby I'm not too bothered about visitors especially with DH working and DD at nursery. Plus we're getting people viewing the house so they will always be worse than family visiting! As long as any visitors we do have give us prior warning I'm all good! 😂 x

otterbaby · 23/09/2020 12:22

@BettyBotter1 that's right - they're planning on coming over and self-isolating in an Airbnb but I'm just worried that the rules will change between them booking flights and coming over!

@justanothermamma that makes sense! I feel the same about prior notice - if you just turn up at my house, be prepared to be told to go back home 😂

Zaalfruit · 23/09/2020 12:37

This baby does not seem ready at all . I’m thinking did they the estimated due date wrong 🤪

Dates , sperm all off the menu for me 🤪

justanothermamma · 23/09/2020 16:20

@otterbaby I'd be too polite, knowing my luck I'll probably be stood there with a boob out by accident or with dribble down my face and be like 'Come in! Tea? Coffee?' I need to be firm this time I think 😂.

@Zaalfruit Same here 😂.

Treacle81 · 23/09/2020 16:35

Thanks girls! @Spark27 you may have heard of the other term for it 'Ménière's disease'. Its an ear condition that can cause sudden attacks of vertigo. @justanothermamma
During an attack of Ménière's disease you may feel like you or everything around you is spinning, lose your balance and feel sick. So pretty bloody awful. I await a CT scan as can't tolerate light and need assistance of 2 nurses to go to toilet and even pull my underwear down. As it has came so quick and severe referred to stroke team. Quite scary stuff tbh but atleast partner allowed in now as in antenatal ward so await nice clean pj's and toiletries. @justanothermamma that post made me laugh so much lol xx

justanothermamma · 23/09/2020 16:39

@Treacle81 Jeeeez, that's hellish! At least you're in the right place! What's the long term care for it then? I can imagine that happening at any time being really quite frightening. Happy to cheer you up while you're having a crappy time! Xx

FourPlasticRings · 23/09/2020 16:46

@BettyBotter1 it can work and is better the earlier you start. Avoid resting on your back or reclining when sitting down at all costs- the baby bum is heavier and if you rest leaning back then gravity works against you. Only sit on stools, chairs with an upright back rest and birthing balls. If you need to lie down, always on your side. Look at the spinning babies website- there are lots of exercises you can do.

@otterbaby I'm definitely having immediate family visit if allowed. I've got a toddler too and don't fancy dealing with both of them on my own while recovering from childbirth. Last time around no one held the baby at all until she was a couple of months old except for a quick photo snap. Probably won't bother with masks- my toddler won't social distance so there's not much point- but will insist that they wash their hands properly first.

@Treacle81 what a nightmare! I hope the world stops spinning for you soon.

HerondaleDucks · 23/09/2020 17:30

Baby Ennis was born today at 13.45.
He weighs 7 lb and 1.5 oz, he's perfect and 11 days early. Clearly booking an induction he didn't wanna know.

I ended up on a drip at 5.30am because I was only 4cm by 3am and she did a sweep and it basically killed my contractions.
Managed to cope on just paracetamol until 7.30am, but the hormone drip is 10 times worse than natural contractions, so then i went on gas and air and finally at about 10am I had diamorphine. Then powered on through until I gave birth.

Minimal tearing but they are keeping me in as I'm bleeding a bit heavy.
Dh was with me the whole time.
The yoga ball was a life saver, lying down made it so much worse, I spend 90% of labour on the ball.

He is so adorable and keeps going ha ha ha. Finally managed to get latch and he fell asleep a little while ago.

FourPlasticRings · 23/09/2020 17:31

Congratulations @HerondaleDucks! Glad to hear you're both doing well.

Zaalfruit · 23/09/2020 17:39

Congratulations @HerondaleDucks well done - hope mama and baby are doing well.

@Treacle81I’m in shock that sounds awful - hope they can help you feel better !

Is it all the boys that are coming early?

Buzz22 · 23/09/2020 17:49

@HerondaleDucks yay! Huge congratulations to you! So pleased you are both doing well and I hope you get home soon 💙 love the name Ennis!

@Zaalfruit it does seem to be an influx of little boys in a hurry! Although @Treaclepie19 had her baby girl

BntTowers · 23/09/2020 17:55

@HerondaleDucks congratulations! So glad you are both doing well.

Treaclepie19 · 23/09/2020 18:01

Congratulations @HerondaleDucks!! Hope you're all settled and home soon.

Baby girl is keeping me very busy so I'm probably missing things but am thinking of you all. She's 2 days old in 2 more minutes. Crazy ❤

@HerondaleDucks congratulations!!! 💙

bluemoon2468 · 23/09/2020 18:15

@HerondaleDucks huge congratulations! Have to say, feeling very jealous of all these early babies!

I've been having on and off contractions all day but nothing regular 😕 Don't feel like this is it, but I'm holding out hope!
