Had a consultants appt this afternoon due to previous pregnancies giving me diabetes and pre e.
Everything looking great so far just need to keep on the with the aspirin.
But it was awesome I heard the baby's heartbeat! And she let me record it for DH.
14+2 today.

Busybee143 · 02/10/2020 16:24

@zippityzip great news!!
Guys I don't know if I've asked this before but I've only been taking folic acid, no vitamins or anything else. I typically eat OK, most days I eat cereal in the morning (used to be fruit and yog), banana and bacon butty for break (I need to cut the bacon butty out 😂), tomatoes, cucumber, avacado and apple with a sandwich and maybe Crisps for lunch and whatever I can stomach for tea which is quite often a struggle and could be anything from a healthy curry (I seem to be able to do curry) or garlic bread and donner from the beautiful shop I call Iceland 🇮🇸. I struggle with tea that's why it's bad, I start to feel sick around now. I do sometimes have a snack after tea too which isn't usually healthy. Please don't judge me too much my diet hasn't been great the last month or so. Weekends are a little different as I probably don't eat as much of the good stuff. So the big question is, I'm somewhere between 9 and 10 weeks ( thought I was 10 weeks but baby measuring 9+2) should I start taking vitamins now? If so what? Would be useful if I could get it from a supermarket or amazon too

MrsEmilyB · 02/10/2020 16:25

@Busybee143 - wow! Amazing how scan pictures differ. Mine was facing down like a baby hippo at 9+1 and did a little mini twerk but no rolls, kicks or flips (I'm guessing both are okay??). Was yours abdominal or vaginal? Don't worry about the dates. My date by my LMP put me at something crazy like 10+3 but I was only 9+1 because I NEVER ovulate on day 14. Usually 18-20! I read your message at about 4am as baby got me up for a wee but I was too tired to reply haha

@zippityzip glad you got to heart the heartbeat! How magical! 😍

MrsEmilyB · 02/10/2020 16:28

@Busybee143 my midwife said the only "essential supplements" you need to take are folic acid 400mcg and Vitamin D 10mcg. Most pregnancy vits will have those and a bunch of others, or if you prefer, just take the folic acid and vit d seperately. If you go for the latter I'd recommend the vitamin d oral spray as it's nice and minty and avoids another pill haha

MrsEmilyB · 02/10/2020 16:30

Also there is NO judgement here lovely!! For those that know me on the TTC threads I was OBSESSIVE about macros etc. Since being pregnant I've lived on carbs and crisps and ice lollies, my veg intake has plummeted and I've gained "too much" weight so far. The first trimester is all about survival, girl! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Catherinettc · 02/10/2020 17:07

@Mrsi2020 how are u feeling now?

I'm still nauseous 24/7 im actually really struggling with it 😪😪

Dd suggest the name elena although like the spelling eleyna better and im liking it? Its a character from the vampire diaries lol xx im stuck on caolin (keelin) for a boy but hubby likes stiofan (steven) which would be nice cos its my dads name who passed away nearly 9 years ago but is it terrible that im not that keen? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Busybee143 · 02/10/2020 17:24

@MrsEmilyB the little bean was having a right good kick and wave, it was an abdominal scan.
I might just stick with my folic acid and start taking vitamin d again then and hope that it will be enough for baby.
My diet is so bad since being pregnant, I think I've put on 2-3 pounds but I've also been too knackered to run at all and I used to run at least 3 miles a day, hoping to pick it back up in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks for the advice 😁❤️

MrsEmilyB · 02/10/2020 17:45

@Busybee143 - 2-3lbs is a perfect amount of weight to gain by this point! I've put on 7lbs and I'm only a few days ahead of you!! 😱😂 I've booked in to start doing my more energetic exercise classes again from 14 weeks when hopefully the fatigue has fluttered away...
The folic acid and vitamin D are perfect 👌 midwife said anything else is preference!

@Mrsi2020 how you feeling my lovely?Honestly even now my symptoms come and go. Weeks 9-11 are supposed to be the worst for nausea but I haven't been nauseous at all since week 8.5 😂 my boob soreness comes and goes too. My only real signs are I'm tired (could be that I'm now accustomed to the luxury of a daily nap), I wake up in the night to pee, and I have heartburn in the evenings.

Busybee143 · 02/10/2020 17:56

@MrsEmilyB I think I'll be following in your footsteps soon with all these bacon butties 😂
I'm just going to keep going as I am and hopefully get some exercise in soon!
We can work the weight off when we've given birth! Be reet! 😂

Ltay2 · 02/10/2020 19:54

@Busybee143 @MrsEmilyB I have put on 8lbs so far 😂 although my nausea is finally starting to tail off (13 weeks on Sunday) only really get slightly nauseous now when I'm hungry so hopefully can stomach some more healthy meals! I too have been living on carbs, baby seems to love a pre packed sandwich 🤷🏼‍♀️ i never used to bother with them before but now every time I'm near a boots I need a meal deal 😂 although baby also has an obsession with fruit so.. balance 🙌🏼

Told my work colleagues I was pregnant today, we are only a tiny office team of 4 so only 2 other people to tell (my boss is my mum so already knows) they're both sooo excited, one of them half suspected as had noticed I had gone off hot drinks and thought I was 'emotional' (or polite way of saying moody 😂) last week when work was extra stressful! But it's so nice that they know now! And I've got a week off work so I'm happy today 🥳

Ltay2 · 02/10/2020 19:56

@Busybee143 Also I was advised by my midwife to take a more rounded pregnancy vitamin (pregnacare, seven seas or shop own brand) so I know I'm not missing out on anything vital that can help, although folic acid and vit d is all you really need. It may be because I'm further along now and pretty much in the second trimester and so nothing actually to do with it but I feel like I'm less tired/sicky since starting with a vitamin.

Bl0ndi3 · 02/10/2020 21:46

@Busybee143 I take the Asda multi vitamins and have done since TTC I also take vegan omega 3 because I worry I don't get enough in my diet

MrsEmilyB · 02/10/2020 23:08

@Busybee143 I'm absolutely not stressing about it. My body will gain what it needs to and although my diet has got worse this trimester I'm sure it'll be better soon and I don't think I'm super far over my cals. Breastfeeding takes hecka calories anyway!

@ltay2 ahh I'm glad you had a good reception from work! ❤️ I told my boss today and she tried to tell me I'd need to make back the time for my dating scan appointment. Set her straight pretty quick 😂 being a mama is making me more assertive for sure! My midwife did something without asking (referred me to consultant led services without telling me due to my previous severe eating disorder) and I really stood up for myself! So proud 💪 this baby is giving me confidence!

@Bl0ndi3 I take vegan omega 3 too! I think it's a good idea if you're veggie/vegan/not a fish eater. I also take probiotics as I've heard that's helpful, and I'm using Pregna-Plan multivits because they have Methylfolate instead of folic acid, which didn't seem to agree with me when TTC. They're expensive though 😱

MrsEmilyB · 02/10/2020 23:09

Girls TMI but I'm really not feeling well and it's making me a bit worried! After dinner I had cramps and an upset tummy, I've been congested all day and now I feel really hot 🔥 I'm sure I'm coming down with a cold but fingers crossed that's all it is.

blodyn91 · 02/10/2020 23:49

@Busybee143 I was having quite a lot of dizzy spells so taking Spatone iron water.
Also taking pregcare and DHA tablets. Basically I know how important vitamins and minerals are for cows so I also take them 😆😆
Also weight wise, at my booking in appointment I was 3kg heavier than what I am as they weighed me at 8pm fully clothed. So then I weighed myself naked the next morning.

@mrsemilyb I sometimes have an espresso to help 💩😆

MrsEmilyB · 03/10/2020 00:01

@blodyn91 oh god no I need less 💩 not more 😂😂 what does DHA do? Spatone is supposed to be great! I've just ordered some chlorophyll and Peppermint liquid stuff as it's supposed to be the equivalent of eating 1.5kg green veggies and give iron 💚 think it's called phytolife

Busybee143 · 03/10/2020 00:30

@Ltay2 I wish my baby likes pre packed sandwiches, I've been having sandwich battles, packed lunches at work have been tough 😂😂 I bloody love a boots meal deal, I don't have any local to me so it's a treat cos boots always have different things in. I'm so glad you're looking forward to a week off and everything is going well, enjoy!
@Bl0ndi3 @blodyn91 I might start taking something, nothing fancy just basic.

@MrsEmilyB good on you for setting work straight, cheeky buggers.
Please don't worry about how you're feeling I've been getting hellish cramps most of the time I need to use the bathroom if you catch my drift ha! They worried me at first but now it's my new normal so your body could be adjusting or you could just have an upset tummy, don't worry. I've also just had a week off work from being ill (had to get a corona test, was very worried) however I'm pretty much recovered now and all was well at scan. I think being pregnant we will feel coughs and colds more harshly so please don't worry. Look after yourself, rest, keep an eye on your temperature and drink lots and lots of fluids. You have nothing to worry about lovely!

Mrsi2020 · 03/10/2020 01:31

Hey girls! Loving the weight gain chat , 🤣 it’s refreshing not to worry so much! I’m good girls, I avoided mumsnet and google today and came back to some sweet messages!

@Catherinettc I can’t believe I’m jealous of your symptoms! This first trimester is crap! All being well this preg I’m
Never doing this again!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣

How are you all? Xxx

LittleRa · 03/10/2020 06:23

Hi all, thanks for the messages about me being sick in the night last night Smile However, take a day off- ha ha, good one 😫 I wish. I don’t work Mondays though so have three days now 😍 @MrsEmilyB I hope you felt alright through the night and didn’t end up spewing like me. Tbh it was more the appearance of random bruise that got me a little worried. DP said I’d probably knocked it when rushing to be sick in the loo but I really can’t remember knocking it and it’s a large bruise, about 2 inches, and very dark- changed colour through the day blue purple black. Dr Google tells me bruises appearing in pregnancy can be linked to low blood platelets or something like that?! Anyway I rang pregnancy Assessment Unit unit just to put my mind at rest, sure it’s probably nothing. They said to keep an eye out for any other bruises appearing or if I feel very sick again and dizzy/breathless. DP “helpfully” said he’ll happily check my body for bruises whenever I need 😂 I was irritated at one colleague though who said it was an insect bite, like wtf?! I was like I don’t have fleas or bed bugs thank you!
Anyway I’ve had a much better sleep tonight so feeling better already. Although my mum still thinks I should make GP appointment and ask for a blood test 🤔
On the weight gain, I haven’t gained anything on the scales, in fact have gone down a teeny amount 2-3lbs, but I do have a bump (17 + 5) so I think it’s redistributing rather than gaining, however I was about 2 stone over what I’d really like to be before getting pregnant so I had some to lose. Have you seen the charts of how much is recommended to put on in pregnancy? The lower your original weight, the more you should put on. The more overweight you are, the less you should put on.

Ltay2 · 03/10/2020 09:02

Me and OH have downloaded 'Kinder' baby name app, it's quite good 😂 sure some of you have mentioned it before but for those that don't know it's like tinder for baby names, swipe left or right and get matches with partner.

We have both liked the name 'April' for a girl however as baby would actually be born in April is that a little weird? Or tacky? I can't decide if April should be for babies born in April or definitely not for babies born in April 🙈

blodyn91 · 03/10/2020 09:11

@Ltay2 ive thought of April as a middle name, my gran is called Avril and she will be 93 in April if she makes it, so like the idea of April. Definitely have to be born in that month in my opinion 😬

@MrsEmilyB ahh keep away from the caffine then 🤭🤭 Eat plenty of fibre to slow digestion down. DHA is for cognative development in infants, so along with EPA studies have shown children have less learning difficulties and it improves mental health. (My phd was about feeding dha to cows to increase its level in cheese to make it an even healthier product for children).

zippityzip · 03/10/2020 09:20

@blodyn91 Dr Blodyn ?! Yes I love that. I'm only halfway through my degree and my tutor was like - ah yeah just do a masters and then a PHD and I was like 😂😂😂 please bitch only absolute genius' with tons of money can do that.

That sounds exceptionally interesting though. You should be so proud. Does extra DHA in cows make more intelligent children!??

If I did do a PHD I would pick something along the lines of the basic psychology of dads and the effect this has on children and how they bond or what they contribute to emotional development.

Ltay2 · 03/10/2020 09:33

@blodyn91 We might go for it as middle name instead, not sure what would go as middle name for April as first name. Hope we are having a girl as I hate all boys names so far 😂 we have a few on the list but none that I REALLY like!

Bl0ndi3 · 03/10/2020 09:44

My symptoms seem to be increasing. Food wise I follow a slimming world diet still most days as I am trying to maintain my weight rather than lose or gain. However yesterday I was sat down to have my frittata cous cous and salad and I could not stomach the frittata or salad so I ate the cous cous. Then for tea I had potato waffles and beans because I didn't fancy anything else so I think my appetite loss and food aversions are kicking in a little. I've been craving melon too! I've not put on anyway weight so far actually lost some and then regained it and think I sit 1lb less than pre pregnancy. I'm about 2 stone over where I wanted to be so don't see any harm in maintaining or losing little bits until 20 weeks.

@Busybee143 the Asda ones are like £3.80 or something so give those a go or any other own brand ones they've got everything you need and then some and you'll feel better knowing that no matter what you're giving baby all the right nutrients so you can eat whatever you feel like given eating well in pregnancy is hard!!!

@Ltay2 it was me - I love that app haha it's amazing! It really helped my OH focus on names because he's a nightmare. I had mentioned a name to him and he was like NO. But then seeing it in the app with the surname and he was like ooooh I like that and now it's our top contender 😂 I do wish it had more names and you can add more packs if you pay.

I like the name April and think it goes really well for you! If you like the name go for it I don't think it's weird it's kinda cute if she's born in April?! X

Busybee143 · 03/10/2020 09:54

@Bl0ndi3 I might head to asda today and get some.
@Ltay2 that's actually my middle name and I love it, I actually prefer it to my name. I've always said if I was ever to move away I'd be tempted to intruduce myself as April instead.
