And @Dipsy77 you're not old!!

Busybee143 · 01/10/2020 06:52

@LittleRa I'm a teacher too and I agree with the name thing being hard bloody work. For ir example I'd never use any variation of Joe for teacher reasons 😂 it's annoying isn't it.
@Dipsy77 you've got a harder job with twins, two names! Do you have any inclinations about sex?

Mrsi2020 · 01/10/2020 07:35

@Dipsy77 that’s lovely! You could have a Pearl, Scarlett , there are actually lots of nice names that go well with ruby! I wish I was like you. I put so much stock into the name and I have to realllllly be sure. I don’t ever look at my babies and think they look like anything ! I actually would have anxiety leaving it to hospital to pick lmao xxx

Madz123 · 01/10/2020 07:47

Loving all the name ideas! I'm completely stuck for boy names as we only liked 1 when we had DS and that's obviously now his name! He's a Sebastian and annoyingly that suddenly got very popular so I feel they'll be like 5 Sebastian's in his class when he goes to school 🙄🙈 I had a few girls names but they have been ruined by meeting children at work in awful circumstances so now the only one I vaguely still like is Evelyn.

Just a quick update- my scan went fine the other day I just didn't feel like posting this after the awful news we heard. Official due date 12/4 and 20 week scan is on 27/11!

Busybee143 · 01/10/2020 07:51

@Madz123 I love Evelyn and also Enid.

Busybee143 · 01/10/2020 07:52

@Madz123 really glad your scan went well too ❤️

mrsmummy1111 · 01/10/2020 07:56

My little boy didn't have a name for bloody ages!! Everyone kept asking "any names yet". NO! HES STILL PEANUT CURRENTLY. We just couldn't find anything we liked and ended up going with the one name we had from day 1 and loved but just wanted to make sure there was nothing we were missing. We have had a girl name for years and years that's meaningful for both of us, but is pretty unused (as in we only know our family members and one other famous person with the name), but equally it's a name that everyone knows.

Don't worry, it's not Apple or Stormi 🙄

What about Harrison for a boy? But I don't like Harry and that's what everyone would end up calling him wouldn't it?

mrsmummy1111 · 01/10/2020 07:57

@Madz123 LOVE Sebastian! Gorgeous name. Sadly DH doesn't like it but as I've stressed multiple times, he's wrong.

mrsmummy1111 · 01/10/2020 07:59

Congrats on another healthy scan @Madz123!!!
I get why you didn't feel like posting. It's been a bit of a sad week for us girls hasn't it. But as @Bl0ndi3 and lots of others have proven, there's light at the end of the tunnel, even though it may not always seem like it at the time ❤️

zippityzip · 01/10/2020 08:05

I also don't want to mention names to family because I'm sick of opinions.

Youngest DD announced her name and first thing an in law said was "oh that was my first dogs name". Fucking ruined the moment.

DH has millions of cousins so therefore dozens of babies and grandchildren being born and each and every baby, his side of the family is so bitchy like "Why on earth would you call your child that" "what a fucking ridiculous name" "sounds like a twat" and general nastiness.

Also - my own FIL from the scan photo went "what a BOY - better be a boy this time. I can see it's thing from the photo yeah finally got a boy" and it took everything I had not to punch him in the face. Fucking chav. I hope it's a girl now.

Madz123 · 01/10/2020 08:14

@Busybee143 thank you! On the same lines- Edith is also growing on me 🤷‍♀️

@mrsmummy1111 thank you, and I like names that can be shortened so he's mainly Seb or Sebby 😊

Bl0ndi3 · 01/10/2020 08:31

@zippityzip I'm the same because I know it shouldn't matter but if somebody said oh I hate that name or that's not a nice name it would really upset me to think somebody close to me doesn't like the name I chose for my child - I'm just that kind of person 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

I know it's silly cause like not everybody is going to like it and they'd learn to love the name anyway if we chose it but I'd rather they just not know until I can say this is his/her name deal with it. Some people just dunno how to be polite about it either and will just say no that's awful and then I'm like 🥺🥺🥺

Lmao "fucking chav. I hope it's a girl now" 😂😂 you are so funny! OMG though why are some people just so stupid and don't think before they speak. Honestly 🙄

@Madz123 I'm so glad the scan went well I've been wanting to ask but thought it best to wait for you to post when you're ready

I think the whole nickname thing is good to give the name variety and I just like the thought of my child having like a full name so you can whip it out when they're in trouble haha I don't think I'd ever just name my child the nickname unless I really hated the long name or something but then I probably wouldn't name my child that at all if I didn't like the longer version because people would always assume they were officially a Joseph anyway if they were called Joe or Joey. OH has always insisted that our child has a full name that can be shortened. We love Freddie but it would 100% be Frederick officially which I love too.

@Mrsi2020 Nev Schulman has a beau and he's so flipping cute that kid. I always say to OH when we watch catfish that it's a cute name but he hates it.

Dipsy77 · 01/10/2020 08:36

@zippityzip thanks ruby is definitely keeping me young!
@Busybee143 I keep thinking 2 girls but that's only because I've only had girls and wouldn't know what to do with a boy, although I don't mind either way
@Mrsi2020 I love Pearl but oh doesn't and we both like Scarlett it was on shortlist last year x

blodyn91 · 01/10/2020 09:54

@Madz123 due date twins 🥳🥳

100% not mentioning the names to anybody in real life till they are born.
Idris is another fave of mine, but OH not convinced as everybody will think of Idris Elba, but he is pretty cool though! I also like Elidir, another name after a Welsh mountain.

SmileyT · 01/10/2020 09:57

Loving all the name chat - I'm also not going to tell anyone IRL the name before he is born because then people think it's an option, it makes them think that they can give their impression on... My brothers partner is Turkish and picked Turkish names id never heard before for my nephews and when I first heard them I thought mmm... how do they go with my weird double barrelled surname but now I can't imagine them being called anything else xx

It's so weird when you know you're having a baby you are like there are so many lovely names but nah not for me and the surname 😂

I think my name is quite original and for my child I just want a name that you don't have to spell out in every scenario or one people that people say wrong all the time but also one that nobody else will have in the school, not much to ask 🤪

Also can't remember if it was @LittleRa or @Bl0ndi3 but DP is loving the hi daddy app, we picked naughty child and he is always talking shit about me 😂 the other day it said 'mum will be complaining I'm making her put on weight but i'm only the 3-4lbs a month the rest is her late night snacking' 🙈

Had my 16 week midwife app at gp today and got to listen to heartbeats. It's made me feel so much better, it took a while to find the second one but she thinks I have 1 anterior placenta. The heartbeats were 141 and 148. On countdown now for 26th October and 20 week scan xx

mrsmummy1111 · 01/10/2020 14:04

Girls,

Just had the call. The baby is ok 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Bl0ndi3 · 01/10/2020 14:11

@mrsmummy1111 OMG, your harmony results? 😭😭😭😭😭😍❤️❤️❤️😁😆🙃🙂🥰

zippityzip · 01/10/2020 14:18

@mrsmummy1111 YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Mococo1 · 01/10/2020 14:33

@Dipsy77 congratulations on another good scan- I wrote out a long message that got deleted as my phone ran out of battery but it included girls names following colour/gemstone theme - jade, Amber, Scarlett, coral, violet & olive from what I can remember!

@mrsmummy1111 YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!! So happy for you- you must feel amazing right now!

@zippityzip I really don't get why people are so nasty over names like just keep your opinions to yourselves sometimes! 3 girls would be so so cute!

I would be going crazy if anyone said that to me- some of my far extended opinion giving in laws are of the preference you should have atleast one boy in the fam and it drives me and DH up the wall! Hope we have 3 girls one day lol!

I think my names will be different anyway due to religious reasons but I've thought of some pretty girl names but wouldn't be able to name the baby till I've seen it! I used to think my name was so rare then I joined a multicultural uni and met 6 other girls with it so it must have been popular that year lol x

Ltay2 · 01/10/2020 15:12

@mrsmummy1111 Ahhh such wonderful news ❤️❤️❤️

mrsmummy1111 · 01/10/2020 15:24

Thanks so much you lovely lot! Had to come on here and update you obviously 🤣

I'm still in shock. Of course we were hoping for the best but had prepared ourselves for the worst so we weren't totally blindsided, but it almost feels too good to be true. I'm just grateful for a healthy baby and won't take it for granted ever again. Thank you again fell the bottom of my heart, for all your support and lovely encouraging words. And for never judging me. You really are a wonderful bunch and I feel very lucky to have (virtually) let you all

mrsmummy1111 · 01/10/2020 15:25

Wow. Spellcheck letting me down with that last post

SmileyT · 01/10/2020 15:59

@Dipsy77 ahh lovely that you got to hear both heartbeats at 16week appt, have you started feeling movement? xx

@mrsmummy1111 YAY!!!! such fab news xx

@Mococo1 ooh are you sharing some of the names, or are they under wraps I love hearing original (or original to me) names x
