@holb54 I've been taking Pregnacare Max for nearly a month now. I had the original but wanted to make sure it covered anything I might be lacking. The main two pills are fine but the omega-3 one is a beast!! 😵

krazipan · 20/09/2020 19:44

@Phie04 my sister had a baby earlier this year and swears by 'spritz for bits'! She said it was really soothing when she was sore and swollen post birth.

lennyeh · 20/09/2020 19:51

@Sussexbysea
That's really reassuring to hear about your NIPT result. Hoping I'll be in the same position x

Sussexbysea · 20/09/2020 20:34

@Babafarmer it varies but I bled for about 5 weeks after. Heavy at first and then light. It’s a funny smell though, nothing like a period blood

aureliacecilia · 20/09/2020 20:50

My post-birth bleeding was really no worse than a period but I wonder if that's because I had a c-section. I did use the thick maternity pads initially and then my usual sanitary towels. I was most put out when my periods returned hardly any time at all after I stopped bleeding despite the fact I was exclusively breastfeeding.

Rosehips89 · 20/09/2020 20:58

I've been feeling so positive until now but this morning I woke up feeling zero pregnancy symptoms. I could understand if they faded away but I've gone from some to nothing.
TRIGGER WARNING
The last time they vanished baby had passed away and I had no cramping or bleeding for 3 weeks afterwards. People kept brushing me off, telling me that things must be ok since I hadn't had any sign of loss. I just can't help but feel like it's happened again.

Phie04 · 20/09/2020 21:11

@Rosehips89 don't panic, just call you midwife or epu in the morning and see what they say. If it helps you feel any better one day I could be bed ridden with nausea and headaches, then the next day be bouncing off the walls! How far along are you now? If you don't mind me asking, how far along were you with your previous miscarriage?

Phie04 · 20/09/2020 21:47

I'm already dreading wearing sanitary pads! I can't stand them. The thought of wearing them for weeks just depresses me a bit lol. I use menstrual cups for my periods so it's going to be a nightmare - but I'm sure babys little face will make it all worth it!

NoGinNotComingIn · 20/09/2020 22:15

I didn't find post birth bleeding any worse than a normal period, it does stink though. The midwife said to me "yeah it smells like a butchers, don't worry that's normal" it's v distinct. I bled for 10 days, a normal period for me is 8 days so not much difference. I anticipated pouring for 6 weeks but it was nothing like that. I hate wearing towels too, that was probably the worse bit for me.

holb54 · 20/09/2020 22:17

@Phie04 I hadn't heard of that but I'll definitely look into it, thanks so much for telling me! ❤

@Babafarmer I had thought of doing it that way but the orginal is only 3 euro off the max so wouldn't make much difference price wise over here

@SnickerdoodleSnek the omega one is so round I'm always afraid I'll choke on it 😂 the green ones are bloody huge

chloxhunt · 21/09/2020 00:10

@Phie04 yeah I don't like wearing them either! It's mainly the feeling of it coming out and the standing up and just feeling wet 🤢

Rosehips89 · 21/09/2020 03:33

@Phie04 I'm 15w5 days. Baby was 10.6 last time, and the symptoms disappeared virtually overnight last time. This time, as one symptom went it was replaced by another but the last two days even the tiniest bit of discomfort from getting up too quick or lying on my side is gone. It's like I'm not pregnant, and I just can't shake the thought like last time

SnickerdoodleSnek · 21/09/2020 08:05

@holb54 Ugh yes! I can't swallow pills well at the best of times! I can just manage the green ones, but that round one...ugh 🙈

@Rosehips89 Definitely call your MW if you're that worried. If you can't get through then try your EPU/chosen hospital. I'm sure everything is okay but it never hurts to check, especially given your history. ❤️

emmafou1807 · 21/09/2020 08:07

@Rosehips89 try not to panic as previously said. It could just be that second trimester is now fully in swing for you and placenta has taken over removing your symptoms. Call the midwife first thing. No bleeding has to be a good sign though.

JTB123 · 21/09/2020 08:30

@Rosehips89 don't worry ❤️

Sussexbysea · 21/09/2020 08:32

I’ve booked a gender scan for 1st October eeeekkkk. I’m thinking boy xx

Enjoy07 · 21/09/2020 08:34

Is anyone else struggling with the weight gain? I know that is all part of it and I should embrace it but I think I’m at that in between stage of just looking big rather than pregnant. I was always big and then around 4 years ago I lost 4 stone but during lockdown and now with the pregnancy I’ve put about 3 stone back on quite quickly. My body shape is completely different to how it was 4 years ago though but going from a size 18 to a 14 and now slowly creeping back to my old sizes is just really getting to me- the old feelings of hating whatever clothes I wear is coming back! I won’t even let my husband take progress pictures of the pregnancy journey which he’s desperate to do. Is anyone else feeling like this or should I just get over it?! Xx

Danni2021 · 21/09/2020 09:11

Good luck to the ladies with scans today! Mines is tomorrow and I am feeling super nervous!!! Thank god mines is first thing in the morning 😬

Phie04 · 21/09/2020 09:15

@Rosehips89 it could just be that you're now well into the second trimester, and symptoms usually drop off as your hormones balance out. The risk of a miscarriage is so low at this stage but definitely check with the hospital. Have you had cramps or bleeding?

TheFoz · 21/09/2020 09:16

@Rosehips89 hoping everything is OK for you. But like others have said it’s probably just that the symptoms have eased in the second trimester. I hope you are able to put your mind at rest somehow today. ❤️

LottieDot · 21/09/2020 09:19

@Rosehips89 I echo what everyone else says, give your midwife a ring and hopefully they'll reassure you. I'm almost 14 weeks and struggling as I don't feel pregnant either, its so tough mentally so I can only imagine what its like after a previous loss x

NoGinNotComingIn · 21/09/2020 09:43

@Rosehips89 the second trimester is known for being the best trimester in terms of feeling better and pretty much back to normal. The sickness goes, you get your energy back and you don’t have any of the horrid physical complaints you get in the final trimester when you are the size of a house and can’t eat, sleep or walk! It’s the nice bit in the middle, that’s how I’ve always felt when I got to this point. The only thing is if it’s your first baby you are unlikely to feel the baby move until over 20 weeks so you literally don’t feel pregnant anymore. It’s completely normal though.

If you are worried maybe book a private scan, I doubt the nhs will do anything if you say your symptoms disappeared, they’ll just tell you it’s normal.

aureliacecilia · 21/09/2020 09:53

I had an anterior placenta with my son so my movements were very muted and I don't think they started until a few weeks after the 20 week scan. I'm not sure what type of placenta I have now. I second the recommendations to speak to your midwife for reassurance so they can help you manage any anxiety and booking a private scan. I can absolutely understand why you feel this way but at this point in the pregnancy symptoms are few and far between and the chances are that everything is well. Hopefully you can feel reassured by booking a scan now and knowing you only have a month to go until 20 weeks.

ChilternsHan · 21/09/2020 10:01

@Enjoy07 I understand this completely. I've worked hard over the last few years to try and get to a place where I don't feel negatively about my body/shape/weight/what I'm eating and try to just not think about it all. I'm certainly not starting this journey with positive feelings about how I look, but the changes already make me feel nervous about the months to come. Also the idea of attention being on my stomach, when I usually try everything to avoid that! My parents have already made comments like 'people won't know if you're pregnant or fat' etc which doesn't help...they've always been a bit like that, but thought pregnancy might buy me a reprieve!

I'm not sure I really have much advice as I'm still figuring out how to navigate it, but you're definitely not the only one with complicated feelings about it all. One thing I've found is that switching to actual maternity clothes has helped me embrace it a little - I've bought a nice maternity dress and a couple of pairs of leggings, they make me look more pregnant shape and are much more comfortable than squeezing into my old clothes.

JTB123 · 21/09/2020 10:48

@Danni2021 mine is tomorrow too! But at bloody 4pm 😂
