@holb54 yeah that's what I was going to do!

Phie04 · 20/09/2020 14:41

Lovely scan pictures!

@holb54 me and OH are also blood donors. He's A- and I'm O+ so luckily it won't interfere with baby. I'm donating the cord to the blood bank after birth, have you thought about it?

ElsiesJourney · 20/09/2020 14:59

My mum and dad are down for the weekend. About to set off home which makes me sad :( so nice having them here.

Took the opportunity for mum and I to go and have a first recce at Prams and car seats and oh my gosh what a minefield!!!!

Glad I've looked quite early as it's going to take months to work out which will be best. He he

Hope everyone's had a restful weekend x

Phie04 · 20/09/2020 15:03

@ElsiesJourney have a look at travel systems! From what I can see they will be a god send. I'm getting one from icklebubba

lennyeh · 20/09/2020 15:19

@Babafarmer had the blood taken on 11th so should get the results this week as they said 7-10 days. Trying not to get too ahead of myself and take it day by day x

TheFoz · 20/09/2020 15:19

My throat has cleared up, still have the chesty cough and I woke up this morning with a head cold!! I really hope this is the end of the illnesses now!! I feel absolutely rotten!
On a brighter note myself and DP are thinking of booking a private scan next Saturday. It’s almost 2 hours away but it’s the closest. I can’t see the restrictions in the hospitals being lifted anytime soon with the way the numbers are going here so it would be lovely for DP to see bubs.

lennyeh · 20/09/2020 15:20

@DSP21 I'm still taking it, but I've forgotten on the odd day and not worried about it too much x

aureliacecilia · 20/09/2020 16:07

I'm taking Tesco own brand pregnancy vitamins but I'm meant to also be taking iron tablets as they are now prescribed routinely to all pregnant women in my area. I need to work out a time to eat them as there are so many rules about what you can/can't drink in the hour beforehand or two hours afterwards. I think first thing in the morning or last thing at night might be best!

aureliacecilia · 20/09/2020 16:07

I also read taking vitamin D is thought to be good in case you get Covid so we're all on vitamins in our house! Can't see it will do any harm as we move into the winter.

c24680 · 20/09/2020 16:10

I've been taking pregnacare original and my midwife has said my iron is a bit low but not low enough for meds yet and has suggested taking spatone which is sold at boots, I'm trying to avoid iron supplements this time round!

Babafarmer · 20/09/2020 16:29

@holb54 I bought pregnancy safe omega 3 (DHA and EPA) £9.50 for 60 days and take that in addition to the 100s of pregnacare I bought.

@lennyeh I have read loads of stories that nipt test results have come back with a huge difference to the combined test results. I hope this is the case for you.

Sussexbysea · 20/09/2020 16:48

@Babafarmer my NIPT did. Originally 1:12 chance which is around 10% chance. Results came back 1:9750 chance which is less than 1%. My high risk screening was because of the increased fluid but they don’t tell you that and still send you off of additional screening

Wow that's fab that's about a 0.011111111111% chance.

Sussexbysea · 20/09/2020 17:20

@Babafarmer so good.

In other news, my belly button is starting to resemble a cats anus hahaha

ChilternsHan · 20/09/2020 17:48

Got back from holiday today and just spent a wee while lying with my feet up catching up. So exciting to see people finding out the sex!

Is anybody getting swollen feet/ankles? My holiday involved quite a lot of walking and climbing of hills so I'm hoping it's just that I haven't spent enough time with my feet up, but wondering if I should mention to my midwife.

Speaking of... my midwife is only in the GP surgery on a Friday and she's off the next two meaning my 16 week appointment will be at 18 weeks. The receptionist said she didn't think it would be an issue - what do they usually do at the 16 week appointment?

Enjoy07 · 20/09/2020 17:53

@ChilternsHan I had my 16 week appointment on Thursday- it was a phone call as they’re not doing face to face at my gp. It was a waste of time to be honest- she just said ‘it’s just a call to see how you are’. She went through my blood work I’d had done after my 12 week scan and said ‘I’d passed’ and asked if I had any questions. Then that was it! So I wouldn’t worry too much about it being later, unless yours is a different structure to mine, they all seem to work slightly differently! Xx

c24680 · 20/09/2020 17:56

@ChilternsHan at my 16 week appointment my midwife gave me my blood results, asked if I had any question then we listened to the heart beat.

Phie04 · 20/09/2020 18:33

Can we talk postpartum? What do we REALLY need? I've seen youtube vids about all these different products, putting ice down there for one does not appeal to me, nor does aloe vera etc...

Enjoy07 · 20/09/2020 18:45

@c24680 how lovely!! Wish I’d been able to listen to heartbeat 💓 xx

Sussexbysea · 20/09/2020 18:45

@Babafarmer so good.

Sussexbysea · 20/09/2020 18:47

@Phie04 I had a section with my daughter so I’m unsure about the ice etc. But for both section or vaginal you’ll need big knickers and lots of maternity pads. Sanitary pads don’t absorb enough.

Babafarmer · 20/09/2020 18:53

How long do you bleed for after giving birth?

emmafou1807 · 20/09/2020 18:54

@LottieX I am exactly the same!! Omg I thought I was the only one! Not heard of anyone being so bloated they look 9months pregnant by the end of the day!!! But this is me! My stomach is also solid, it's super uncomfortable!!! I honestly don't have much advice, I went to the GP and was prescribed acidex and lactulose but it isn't having a massive effect :( I do tend to find bloating is worse after certain foods (spicy and fatty) so I'm now actively avoiding them.

Tomatoandbasil · 20/09/2020 19:29

Those of you taking omega 3: are any of them vegetarian versions?

Tomatoandbasil · 20/09/2020 19:30

@Babafarmer I really can’t remember from last time. I don’t remember if being really awful though. I just wore thick maternity pads for a bit the the thin ones.
