Thank you everyone for the lovely messages today 💕💕 We headed straight to the shops to shop pink!! Haha

@Sparkle80 Congratulations on your little prince 🤴

c24680 · 19/09/2020 17:42

@KatieG200394

We had the perfect prep machine, definitely recommend them, perfect for when the baby is crying for a bottle as there ready in I think 2 mins!

Had no issues with mould etc, we bought our filters from Asda every time they had a sale on so stocked up! Seen some bad reviews on amazon to beaware of that.

KatieG200394 · 19/09/2020 17:44

@c24680 thank you, I think we're going to go ahead and get it ☺ xx

Phie04 · 19/09/2020 17:51

Im sick of people telling me to get used to pain. Absolutely sick of it. I get that childbirth hurts no one has ever said it wasn't painful. But now I've been scare mongered into thinking I won't cope with it. Is it really as bad as they say it is?

MrsAndMrs · 19/09/2020 18:15

@Phie04 please don't freak yourself out about it. Everyone has a horror story to tell you when you're pregnant! Fact is, its no trip to spa but millions of women do it every day, some with help and some without, its entirely your call! You will be absolutely fine, just ignore the scaremongering!

MrsJ89 · 19/09/2020 18:28

@Sparkle801 and CazWte congratulations on your biy and girl!

@KatieG200394 we had a prep machine with our 1st and we loved it. Had no issues so will be using with this one too.

@phie04 everyones labours different. Tell people that try to tell you stories that you don't want to hear it. Anyway, Its obviously worth it as so many of us go on to have more. I don't have the greatest pain threshold and I'm doing it again!

LandMammal · 19/09/2020 18:52

woow incredible bumps already, lovely! Atleast you're not going to get those looks when people think you've just been splurging on the cake!

@Calgoose

we debated about perfect prep but just didn't have the space, managed fine without. you would just need to be on the ball with anticipating when baby wanted a bottle so it had enough time to cool 😁 if you have the space then go for it!

@calgoose did you have to get out of the pool straight after birthing?

Sussexbysea · 19/09/2020 19:12

@emmafou1807 which one did you go for? I’ve got mine from when I had my daughter but there are so many different ones now

TheFoz · 19/09/2020 19:21

Covid results are back, thankfully I don’t have the dreaded plague!

@Phie04 every birthday and labour are different, try not to overly stress about it and take others experiences with a pinch of salt.

TheFoz · 19/09/2020 19:22

Birth*

emmafou1807 · 19/09/2020 19:26

@Sussexbysea I went for this one from Asda direct.asda.com/george/baby/baby-feeding/breastfeeding/kinder-body-caterpillow/050297394,default,pd.html
It was recommended by my friend and there were so many out there I didn't know which one to get

holb54 · 19/09/2020 19:45

Great news @TheFoz 💓

Tomatoandbasil · 19/09/2020 19:57

@emmafou1807 I got that one too!

Thack · 19/09/2020 20:15

You guys are so far ahead, I've not read up on feeds etc yet. I should probably get a move on, it's going to fly!

@Phie04 I keep telling myself that it's just one day (ish). Parents say they'd take a bullet for their kids, that they wish they could take their pain to spare them. The way I see it, us mothers have to pay that price upfront. I'm bricking it, but there's drugs if needed.

💙❤️Congrats to all learning the sex.

Hubby and I are having a jovial debate--he wants to know and I don't. At my scan they said that they don't write down the sex, verbal only. Mr isn't allowed into the scan atm, so I've won the debate by default! Grin

Sussexbysea · 19/09/2020 20:49

@emmafou1807 it looks very similar to the dreamgenie but half the price. The BBhugme are supposed to be brilliant, it should be for £140!!!!

emmafou1807 · 19/09/2020 21:20

@Sussexbysea it was another reason I went for this one. Some of the prices were insane! I would have happily paid them for the comfort obviously but I thought why not try this cheaper one first! Especially since it came recommend I figured it must be good too!

SnickerdoodleSnek · 19/09/2020 21:20

@ValidUser That's a shame. I'm worried I'll be high risk being a bigger lady. So it's a potential option but I'm fully expecting not to be allowed....

@KatyCherry23 That's so reassuring! I have bad back issues which have only manifested in the last year. If I lay on my back for a while I won't notice it until I try to move. So laying there for hours on end doesn't appeal if I know I probably won't be able to get up afterwards! It's something I'm definitely going to discuss with my MW.

KatyCherry23 · 19/09/2020 21:29

@SnickerdoodleSnek I have back issues too because I'm hypermobile. I cannot stay still because its too painful. The MWs should listen to you if you say you want an active birth no mater if you are high risk. It's tends shorten labour if you are allowed to move around a bit. I can't be on my back I hate it so I'll be on all fours this time round and well they can just work around it 😂😂

Calgoose · 19/09/2020 21:32

@LandMammal I actually had a home birth so it was in my front room. I stayed in for a couple of minutes but it’s amazing how quickly you “come round” and actually want to get out of there - it does get a bit manky during actual birth Grin From memory the pool room at my hospital first time around had a bed in it which I think I got onto at some point (was wheeled out before I could give birth that time as I needed forceps) so I guess you’d get into that after birth. I really can’t remember that much though - gas an air is a wonderful thing.

And on that note @Phie04 I am the BIGGEST wuss when it comes to every day pain. I can’t function with a headache and feel very sorry for myself if I cut myself cooking or whatever. But on birth I was absolutely fine. Just the warm water and gas and air - you just go to a different place mentally. The pain wasn’t as I expected either - it’s more like a (very very intense) period pain than anything sharp. Time goes very quickly IME during labour too.

ValidUser · 19/09/2020 21:35

@SnickerdoodleSnek weight alone should be ok.

I've got scoliosis (could mean no epidural, and I want one!) and a clotting issue, and possibly a connective tissue problem making my cervix weak (awaiting a genetic test result). Hopefully you'll be ok. 🤞

Phie04 · 19/09/2020 21:40

Thanks for reassuring me ladies. I feel a lot better about it now x

SnickerdoodleSnek · 19/09/2020 21:58

@Calgoose Sounds lovely! I'd go with gas and air anyway because of my back issues. My muscles at the base of my back are compacted and I wouldn't want to risk jamming a needle in there tbh. I have a high pain tolerance thankfully!

@ValidUser Oh gosh! Completely understandable then. So far I've not had any issues that would make me high risk, but if pre-eclampsia happens then I'm unlikely to get a pool birth anyway. I'm on daily aspirin to reduce the risk, so I'm hoping it'll work. At the end of the day, if it can't happen then I'll still have options.

chloxhunt · 19/09/2020 23:50

I'm RHD negative which means I need to have another blood test to see if the baby is rhd positive or not

Sussexbysea · 20/09/2020 05:30

@chloxhunt what does that mean in the long run for you and baby?

LandMammal · 20/09/2020 07:02

@Phie04 try and stay calm and positive, and @Thack I cry when they take blood but gave birth on g&a and disn't find it too bad...like @Calgoose says, it is a very different kind of pain!
