Is anyone planning to have a pool/water birth? The more I've been thinking about it, the more appealing it becomes. I have a bad back so the idea of laying on my back for hours and hours before then pushing a baby out is far from ideal! A colleague recommend pool birth because she said it was so relaxing and easy for her.

ValidUser · 19/09/2020 13:47

@Symphony87 we had IVF and I had 3 chemical pregnancies before. Finding out on our NIPT that we're having a little boy has made it all more real.

ValidUser · 19/09/2020 13:48

@SnickerdoodleSnek in theory, I love the idea. In practice, I'm high risk and also want all the drugs.

KatyCherry23 · 19/09/2020 13:48

@SnickerdoodleSnek I had a water birth last time and it was lush. They let me run the shower on my back and it was so relaxing and distracted me from the contractions. They also don't touch you so much when you are in the pool.

@Usplusone sorry you're going through a difficult time, hope you get the answers you want and everything turns out positive for you 🤞

I agree with the small Facebook group idea ☺ thanks @holb54 for volunteering to set it up

Manrita · 19/09/2020 14:09

@krazipan both hun - she said to go up one back size and cup size. Apparently Bravissimo are still measuring people but it's a bit out of the way for me so I just spoke to an advisor in M&S

KatieG200394 · 19/09/2020 14:10

Whats everyone's opinions on Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep machine? We're buying a few items from the sale online at Asda today so was just wondering ☺

Congrats @CazWte on finding out you're having a little girl 💖 I find out Wednesday

krazipan · 19/09/2020 14:33

@Manrita fab! I'll have a look Smile

@SnickerdoodleSnek I’ve laboured twice in the pool and given birth once in one (couldn’t first time round as she got stuck and needed forceps). I definitely am hoping to use one this time around - the thought of labouring without one actually makes me quite anxious! The bath is always the first place I go if I’m in pain so it’s just the absolute logical place for me. For me at least it really does help ease the “achey/draggy” pain. Combined with gas and air it’s a winner Grin

Tomatoandbasil · 19/09/2020 15:11

@KatieG200394 I breastfed but still has a perfect prep for when we used some formula after 6 months. Well worth the money especially if you’re going to use formula.

KatieG200394 · 19/09/2020 15:33

@Tomatoandbasil thank you, yeah I think we probably will end up using formula as I was told by the doctor a long time ago I would struggle to breastfeed when I had children in the future thanks to an inverted nipple, sorry for the tmi lol, I have no shame 😂

aureliacecilia · 19/09/2020 15:39

I'm a bit iffy about Perfect Prep machines as I remember reading stories about people finding mould in theirs and the water not being hot enough to kill bacteria in the milk powder. (No personal experience of this but have a Google and make up your own mind.) I breastfed too but when I returned to work my son had the pre-made bottles of formula in the day at childcare. I suppose it depends on how you want to feed and if you are using formula at all how much formula you will be using. They're easily available if you're happy they are safe to use so I wouldn't rush out to get one at this point, as you can always pick one up when you need it.

Sparkle801 · 19/09/2020 15:43

I’m having a beautiful little man👶🏻💙

aureliacecilia · 19/09/2020 15:46

Also it goes without saying how you feed your baby is your choice but you can absolutely try feeding with inverted nipples. (My sister found breastfeeding really hard and switched to formula by six weeks so please know I am completely supportive of all ways of feeding your baby! I hope this doesn't come across as anything other than supportive of your choice, whatever it is.) However if the reason you think you can't breastfeed is your nipples and otherwise you would want to give it a go then you should know it's not an absolute barrier - www.laleche.org.uk/inverted-nipples/

Congratulations @Sparkle801!

Sussexbysea · 19/09/2020 15:50

@KatieG200394 they are brilliant!! The mould etc that you’ll read about was caused by people buying knock off filters on amazon and not cleaning them then they should have been cleaned. There’s now additional advice on how to clean them too.

If you can get one in the sale, I say go for it. When little one is screaming at silly am, no one has time for a bottle to cool down xx

ValidUser · 19/09/2020 15:55

@Sparkle801 delighted for you! 😊

holb54 · 19/09/2020 16:02

@Sparkle801 congratulations 🧸💙

Hi,

I’ve been reading the board for a while but haven’t yet written anything yet! I’m due on 14th March so nearly 15 weeks and so far all going well. But at dating scan couldn’t do all the screening measurements as baby wouldn’t get in the right position. So have another scan next week to try and get the measurements! Hope it behaves this time.

Does anyone know if you still need to drink lots of water for 16 week scans?

Thanks

Sussexbysea · 19/09/2020 17:00

I feel massively pregnant today. Struggling to bend over, in maternity jeans already and I’m looking around 7 months pregnant already.

I’m going to be massive!!!

KatieG200394 · 19/09/2020 17:00

@aureliacecilia thank you, I will check out that link ☺ xx
@Sussexbysea thank you, they're half price at the moment which is why we thought we might get one but wanted other people's opinions first on if its worth it so thank you for that :) xx

@Sparkle801 congratulations ☺ xx

KatieG200394 · 19/09/2020 17:02

@Sussexbysea I feel big too at the moment, this is our first baby so I'm surprised I've popped out so early, think it might be due to being tall, I'm around 5'7 or 5'8 xx

emmafou1807 · 19/09/2020 17:03

I've been the same @sussexbythesea looked about 5/6 months pregnant since 8 weeks but it's because I've been so bloated. It's been horrible!! Just had a pregnancy pillow delivered and it's so comfortable 🙌🏼 would definately recommend one!!

MrsAndMrs · 19/09/2020 17:11

@Sparkle801 congrats!! 💙 me and my wife were placing bets today and I was right! Chuffed for you!

@Sussexbysea I completely feel you, I feel like I look around 6 months pregnant already and people keep passing comment like "I can't believe the size of you already" "sure it isn't twins" etc ....nope....just MASSIVE 😂😂😂

Sparkle801 · 19/09/2020 17:14

Awww thank you everyone🥰 @MrsAndMrs was you haha! Thank you🥰 My partner was convinced we were having a girl but I just knew it would be a boy😍
