@Sussexbysea

Because your liver is on the right side of your abdomen, lying on your left side helps keep the uterus off that large organ. Sleeping on the left side also improves circulation to the heart and allows for the best blood flow to the fetus, uterus, and kidneys.

When we position ladies in theatre for sections we always portion left side down. It also allows the stomach to positioned lower rather than on top so helps with heart burn and reflux.

Crikey. Phone appointment a lot with the consultant was 9-1pm and they called at 12.50......

I'm exhausted!

We went through all of the normal stuff and then the consultant said 'so we will keep an eye on things and the midwife can let us know if she's worried. I'm not sure. We need to see you again.'

She had t even mentioned the reason I'd been referred so when I asked she said 'oh, I didn't know that....'

Glad I'm someone that's bolshy enough to say, I worry that some people wouldn't say anything.
To be fair after that we had a good chat and she was very reassuring- my midwife will update her at the 25 week appointment and I'll have a 36 week scan and appointment where we will decide about a plan if we haven't already.

Glad it's over!!

@th22 pm sent with info on the currently existing fb group.

LottieDot · 17/09/2020 14:03

@ElsiesJourney sounds like it went well! I have my consultant appt on Monday afternoon, and I'm already starting to get anxious for it! I'm normally one of them people who would be too shy to ask, but I'm working on my assertiveness haha.

TravelGem · 17/09/2020 14:44

Laying on your left also aids digestion 😊

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 17/09/2020 15:18

This might sound silly but I need to celebrate! My superdrug order came with shampoo so I can wash my hair woohoo 😂 My bf has had my car for work as his is broken so I've been housebound but everything takes so bloody long to arrive! I had to video call this morning so dry shampoo to the rescue.
I've ordered some maternity bras from sainsburys because they do proper cup sizes, I had some from H&M mama range and I absolutely do not recommend. As they are S, M, L they are crap for anyone who has a small rib but big knockers. I'm normally part of the itty bitty titty committee but they are huge already, last time I went from a 30D to a 34 F/G so I'm already busting out of everything. Last time I bought blooming marvellous which I think was mothercare, I'm so sad they are gone but hopefully the TU ones will be good.

Has anyone else been struggling with their skin? Mine is so bloody dry lately. I got some facial oil in my order too so I can try and fix it. I'm normally dry anyway but it's so horrible!

Danni2021 · 17/09/2020 15:49

Anyone else have scans next week? Mines is on Tuesday!! Nervous/excited!!

Sussexbysea · 17/09/2020 15:52

@MrsAndMrs me! Rennies have been helping but it can feel uncomfortable at times.

chloxhunt · 17/09/2020 16:02

@Wavescrashingonthebeach aye a day after me! Saying that I haven't felt like throwing up today I'm 13+3 today

brockwellslc · 17/09/2020 16:06

Hey Ladies, hope you don't mind me joining! I'm new to Mumsnet! Had my 12 week scan today and I am 12+4 due 28th MarchGrin

chloxhunt · 17/09/2020 16:14

@brockwellslc welcome and congratulations

JTB123 · 17/09/2020 16:40

@MrsAndMrs omg I BELCH, it's horrible lmao but makes me feel so much better

Phie04 · 17/09/2020 17:18

My belly suddenly became more round or 'bump like' yesterday. I thought it was bloat from eating so much bread. It could perhaps be weight gain as I'm rather chubs anyway making my BMI 30!!!!!! 30?!?! That puts me in the obese column but I wear size 14 clothes - average right? I'm hoping it's because I'm tall (5ft 8) but couldn't believe it when the midwife told me. Strict diet and exercise after birth 😅
@Mrs1989 I had quite a few baby books, but found Your Baby Week by Week most helpful in the first weeks and months with the baby - very practical, simply written, short and to the point, perfect for those sleepless nights 😁
@Dreamcatcher007 thanks for this, will take a look! xxx

holb54 · 17/09/2020 17:29

@Phie04 definite bump there! I wouldn't worry about bmi, I've heard plenty of people say it's flawed.. size 14 is very average (or it is in Ireland) 😊

Welcome to all the new March mums to be!

To those that are high risk from their NIPT, fingers crossed for you going forward!

I got my results today, low risk for all three but Downs is 1 in 1458. I know that's low, but still scary. Trying to stay positive though ❤️

aureliacecilia · 17/09/2020 17:44

You look lovely @Phie04. I'm overweight (BMI 27.4 at 13 weeks) but no one has seemed bothered. I've probably put on about 0.5kg so far. I'm just aiming not to balloon up like I did in my first pregnancy but I am definitely eating too much at the moment!

Phie04 · 17/09/2020 18:12

Thanks @holb54 and @aureliacecilia I don't believe in BMI tbh. Even when I was 15, slim and in a size 10 the wii fit told me I was overweight 😂

MrsAndMrs · 17/09/2020 18:29

@JTB123 hahaha its so gross, I've sat here on my own burping....what a sight I must be! 😂
Where is this bloody glow they keep speaking of?! 😂

Rosehips89 · 17/09/2020 18:58

I FELT BABY MOVE!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

MrsJ89 · 17/09/2020 19:04

@Rosehips89 eek..that's so exciting! How far on are you if you don't mind me asking?
