Hi everyone, can I join please? Smile I’ve been reading along with the last couple of threads.

I’m 16+2 today, due 1st March with our first baby after a missed miscarriage at the end of last year. Found out at a private scan a couple of weeks ago that we’re having a girl. x

holb54 · 16/09/2020 19:59

Welcome to the group @Cocoben! That's wonderful, first girl in the thread so far 💝

Has anyone else woken in the middle of the night choking as if they stopped breathing? It doesn't happen very often but when it does, its quite frightening, going to mention it to midwife at my 16 week appointment next week but just wondering if anyone else has had anything similar happen?

Thack · 16/09/2020 22:23

I've not had it @KatieG200394 but I get Tommy's weekly updates which said about increased saliva and drooling in your sleep,so possibly an unfortunate symptom

@Mrs1989 I had quite a few baby books, but found Your Baby Week by Week most helpful in the first weeks and months with the baby - very practical, simply written, short and to the point, perfect for those sleepless nights 😁

Rosehips89 · 17/09/2020 06:53

Today I'm coming out as pregnant! I've been hiding it from my service users all this time, but my colleagues are staring at my sudden belly and with this dizziness the residents will need to know why I can't stand up for a while. Luckily they're all broody mum's so I'm going to be coddled, but it's still hard breaking the secret.
That's if I don't get sent home from being too dizzy...

Mercuryfreddie · 17/09/2020 07:48

Congratulations on all the lovely scans everyone Smile mines not till next Monday still and the days are going so slowly! Anyone else's sickness seem to ramp up at 12 weeks? I've had manageable nausea but the past 4 days I've felt terrible and have been sick so many times. I'm 12+3 today

DSP21 · 17/09/2020 08:04

@Mercuryfreddie yesss me! I was symptomless till about 10 weeks then nausea kicked in. I've only been sick twice but im dry heaving over the loo/sink/bin ALL DAY.

Anyone else started avoiding sleeping on their backs?

Dreamcatcher007 · 17/09/2020 08:19

@DSP21 Yes! Miss sleeping or even just lying on my back already! 😔 I think that’s from 16 weeks really, but I started from around 12 I think as my belly felt so big I thought to be on the safe side, and I so miss now not worrying about how I lie in bed!

MrsAndMrs · 17/09/2020 08:26

@DSP21 yes I keep trying to lie on my side and I keep waking on my back! 🙈 I'm trying to encourage side sleeping with pillows propping me. I'm usually a tummy sleeper so its taking a but of getting used to!

DSP21 · 17/09/2020 08:26

@Dreamcatcher007 I think I started a bit too early too but my belly felt big for my frame so I didnt want to risk it. I wake up with backache every day too 😩

DSP21 · 17/09/2020 08:27

@MrsAndMrs my SIL has one if those pregnancy pillows I might ty to prop myself up with with. I keep waking up on my back too and wondering how long i've been there!

DSP21 · 17/09/2020 08:29

For those whose cup sizes have gone up, have you invested in new bras, maternity bras, anything in specific? I think I've outgrown mine and not sure if I should just go straight to maternity or if they still will have growing to do

Dreamcatcher007 · 17/09/2020 08:33

@DSP21 I’d buy just a bigger bra size for now, I find maternity/breastfeeding bras a bit more fiddly generally so would just enjoy the simplicity of a simple bra for a another 6 months or so 😊

aureliacecilia · 17/09/2020 08:45

I've ordered some pregnancy/nursing bras from M&S. They're not the most supportive but they are fine for my needs. I just ordered a size medium (I wear a size 10-12 when not pregnant) and it's been fine. It's stretchy and comfy.

I'm 14 weeks today. I'm going to tell my line manager tomorrow as we have a catch up planned but I think I'll ask her to keep it quiet from colleagues until after my screening test results come back and I've spoken to the consultant. Good luck sharing your news, @Rosehips89!

Sussexbysea · 17/09/2020 08:47

They also say to lay on your right side as the blood flow isn’t as strained and reached baby quicker.

Sunflower1492 · 17/09/2020 09:13

Hello everyone is it okay to join?
I’m current 16+2 baby is due 2nd of March, we’re not finding out the gender.
We had a bumpy start with combined blood tests coming back high risk for DS, we then had NIPT which came back low risk. My 20 week scan is the 13th of October and I feel if that goes well and baby is developing fine I will start to really enjoy my pregnancy. No one told me how anxiety provoking pregnancy is ha!!

chloxhunt · 17/09/2020 09:15

@Sussexbysea thought that was the left side?
