@Georgiaa18 welcome!

holb54 · 11/09/2020 10:03

Best of luck @LottieDot, @chloxhunt and @Symphony87 and @SnickerdoodleSnek on your scans today! 🧡

And good luck @Calgoose with your glucose test, hope it goes well for you today! 💓 they don't do them in my hospital which I was surprised at apparently there's a blood test that they go by now!

Welcome @Georgiaa18!

@holb54 thank you!!

ChilternsHan · 11/09/2020 10:12

Good luck for all the scans and tests today! Looking forward to seeing the pictures later.

@Wavescrashingonthebeach @Georgiaa18 Welcome! It's such a supportive group Smile

aureliacecilia · 11/09/2020 10:36

Hope everyone is doing well. Glad to hear there has been lots of good news this week. Good luck to everyone having scans today and welcome to the newest members of the thread!

Phie04 · 11/09/2020 10:38

Hope all the scans go well. Let us know how it goes 🤞🏼

chloxhunt · 11/09/2020 11:00

My scan went well! I'm due 22nd March

Usplusone · 11/09/2020 11:03

@Wavescrashingonthebeach oh no! Did anyone see you?! I'd been OK and thought I was over the worst of it then felt awful last 2 days with nausea and heartburn couldn't even stomach my usual rationed coffee. Started googling listeriosis!

My upcoming exam is in clinical biochemistry, the chat about glucose tests has given me my revision topic for today, thanks guys!

Usplusone · 11/09/2020 11:08

I should add it's very unlikely to be listeriosis!

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 11/09/2020 11:18

@usplusone

I dont think anyone seen me thank god! It was in the park early in the morning! Ha that was after coffee too, im rationing mine also, allowing myself one latte in the morning then 1 caffeinated drink in the PM.

But i think a latte at 6am on an empty stomach then going back to sleep for an hour wasnt the best idea!

Glad everyones scans are going well!!!!!!

Is anyone else going to be going it alone? I actually split with DP before i found out, then when i told him we did try to get back together briefly. Unfortunately his priorities for his time and money right now revolve around alcohol so i had to end it. We have just had a spectacular argument. Im dreading his involvement in future. My own fault for letting myself get pregnant by someone unsuitable, all i can do now is whats best for the little baby!

holb54 · 11/09/2020 11:28

@chloxhunt brilliant news 💓

@Usplusone can't imagine how hard it must be doing exams and while pregnant! Good luck with your upcoming exam 🥳

@Wavescrashingonthebeach I'm sorry that can't be easy on you, you're doing the best by yourself and your baby and that's all that matters! You're so strong 💓

Good luck everyone who has there scans today I hope it's all good news and the baby is in the right position for some good photos.

A little update, the found absolutely no reason for my bleeding and pain, no infection, every test was clean, the midwife checked my cervix, absolutely nothing, so she said it must be hormonal and my body is just being weird which I'm used to. I always seem to get horrible symptoms and but for absolutely no reason but I'm just thankful I've had the green light. My due date has been moved forward to the 24th fromtbhe 27th as baby was measuring 12 weeks but this might get moved on Monday with the proper dating scan. I've never been so happy to be nearing the 2nd trimester I feel like a different woman, this morning my bf was like wow you are awake and not on the toliet or feeling sick 😂😂😂

I know some people have had early gender scans, I wasn't going to find out, I brought my son up gender neutral as possible last time so I was going to do the same. But now I've seen a little picture of the scan I keep looking and trying to guess 😂 I have zero patience. Any guesses?

holb54 · 11/09/2020 11:43

Great news @KatyCherry23! There's no relief like hitting the second trimester 😂

@Symphony87 brilliant news, lovely pic 😍

chloxhunt · 11/09/2020 11:44

@Symphony87 ayeee im 12 weeks 4 days! I'm a bit sore after the ultrasound anyone else?😂

KatyCherry23 · 11/09/2020 11:53

@Usplusone I just saw you have exams what are you studying? Good luck! I love biochem but I found it so difficult to get my head around, watching sci-show on YouTube saved my degree and I high recommend!
I was doing biology and chemistry exams when I was pregnant last time. I would always be like baby help, kick once for answer a and kick twice for b 😂 he was no help though! This time round I'll have 1 oral exam to confirm my progression on to my 2nd year of PhD but that will be at 9months so hopefully they will go easy on me!

Babafarmer · 11/09/2020 11:55

Lovely scans ladies. It's a lovely feeling getting the reassurance.
@Wavescrashingonthebeach you are one strong cookie. But you and baba are the main priority.
@Georgiaa18 welcome to the group x

KatyCherry23 · 11/09/2020 11:58

@Wavescrashingonthebeach I'm so sorry you are going through this and he isn't more supportive for you. I don't have any experience similar to yours but I left my ex when my little one was small because he was abusive. I would say think long and hard about putting the dad on the birth certificate if and if it would be a hindrance or help. I got married to my little boys dad when I was 5 months pregnant thinking it was the right thing to do and to give him parental responsibility but it was the worst thing I ever did because now I can't do anything without his permission and he is so unreasonable and really makes my little boys and my life an absolute hell. Feel free to message me if you want to rant because it's good to be able to let off steam sometimes x

Georgiaa18 · 11/09/2020 11:58

Thank you for all the welcome messages everyone.

Good Luck to everyone having their scans today.. I had mine on Tuesday and it makes the nausea, sickness and crappy sinuses just so much more bearable! Anyone else suffering with their sinuses?

Having my scan has made everything feel so much more real now and I can’t stop looking at the scan trying to guess what it is haha!

Usplusone · 11/09/2020 12:01

@KatyCherry23 @holb54 thanks I feel like I need all the luck I can get!

I'm a registrar in medical biochemistry (little known specialty but we do newborn and antenatal screening plus look after adults with newborn screening conditions). It's part of my training to have to pass these exams and I'm running out of time! I have another I could sit at 9 months but I wasn't sure if I would be up to it. @KatyCherry23 how are you feeling about it?

chloxhunt · 11/09/2020 12:05

This little nugget kept flipping bless, any guesses what the sex is? My mums still convinced girl!

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 11/09/2020 12:06

Thanks @holb54 & @babafarmer

@KatyCherry23

Thank you and im glad you are feeling better! Yes ive had a long hard think and as it stands i wont be putting him on the birth certificate. I know it's sad, but legally it would put me at a disadvantage. If he is that dedicated then he will fight. I havent told him this yet and im not going to. In the nicest possible way, he isnt very intelligent so it probably wont occur to him.

Unfortunately right now he is all talk going on about "il do whats best for my kid" but actions speak louder than words and smoking weed and moving back to his Mums & blowing £200 a pop on nights out doesnt exactly scream responsibility to me. If he thinks he can leave me to do literally ALL the hard work then pop up out of nowhere making demands he can sod off. Argh. Rant over. I wont pollute this thread with my rantings!

Usplusone · 11/09/2020 12:07

@Wavescrashingonthebeach sorry to hear this. My friend has someone from her nct who for different reasons did it solo. One positive side I heard was that she could make all the decisions herself. Not been in that situation but I assume that would be easier than trying to make decisions with the wrong person. My husband pretty much just grew up with his mum and grandma and he's one of the most balanced people I know x

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 11/09/2020 12:10

@Usplusone

Thank you and im pleased to hear of positive experiences. My child will have strong male role models in their life- i have male relatives. I will allow the father to see baby, i just dont think he is responsible for unsupervised access. He has a relative who has young kids, and on the days he has them he takes them to the pub. Then gets drugs delivered Hmm . I have every reason to think he may do the same. I only found this out after becoming pregnant btw.
