@LuHen glad to hear all went well with your scan ☺ lovely picture too ☺ xx

jopotter · 08/09/2020 12:38

Mrsandmrs I had exactly the same when I told people about my first pregnancy. They really wanted to know intimate details like why my wife didn't want to carry and how I feel about carrying a child that is not biologically mine. Really inappropriate but people don't think and they are quizzy and want to know details. I preparing myself for the next round of questions when we tell people about this baby.

DSP21 · 08/09/2020 12:50

@MrsAndMrs @jopotter I actually can't believe that anyone would think it's ok? I would be shocked if someone asked me intimate details about my journey and choices, and over social media no less?!

I'm sure they just don't realise how sensitive it is and don't mean to be rude.

There will always be someone with an opinion when it comes to motherhood so just smile and do whatever the f you want anyway!

Dipsy77 · 08/09/2020 12:57

@Pollito I'm 13 weeks with twins too, I don't have my 12 week scan till next Tuesday due to a cock up at the hospital, I'm so nervous just hoping everything still ok xx

Phie04 · 08/09/2020 13:42

Thanks for the good luck wishes! Thankfully everything went well managed to do all the measurements and tests. Private scan meant I would be 12+3 but measured 12+5 today so happy my little bean is growing! Now due 18th March

holb54 · 08/09/2020 13:56

@Phie04 aw brilliant news 💟 I'm due 15th so we're not far off each other 😊

@holb54 ah wonderful! It will be amazing if some of us give birth on the same day! Is anyone up for a facebook group now the 12 week scans are close/over?

Phie04 · 08/09/2020 14:07

Deffo think I'm having a girl going by the skull theory... so round!

@Phie04 I was thinking that, they'll have to be a few of us who do! One the of the girls mentioned it earlier, think we're waiting until the end of the month/early October to give everyone a chance to have their scans and join in! I think it'll be a lovely idea 💕

Congrats @LuHen and @Phie04 lovely scan pics! 💞🌟

@LuHen did you say you are 13+3 today? If so, that's the same due date as myself and @ChilternsHan !

@EmzG20 hope your scan goes well today too.

Congratulations on your wedding @Calgoose 💐 💞

Definitely up for the Facebook group once everyone has had their scans @aureliacecilia 😁

MrsAndMrs · 08/09/2020 14:21

@Phie04 what a gorgeous scan! Congrats 🥳
I agree, going by the skull theory, I'd have guessed a girl! ♥️

aureliacecilia · 08/09/2020 14:22

Yes I think it's only right to wait until everyone has had their scans so they don't feel they are joining the party late! Looking forward to getting to know you all better.

Maple1990 · 08/09/2020 14:32

hey guys,
I am really struggling to get hold of a midwife, its not urgent, but I'd like to book my 16 week app. I've been trying to get hold of them for 2 weeks but nothing. What would you do?
Thanks x

ElsiesJourney · 08/09/2020 14:36

Fab idea re: Facebook post

God @MrsAndMrs I'm so angry for you!!!! And actually just sad that people don't have the emotional intelligence to just behave on a social media post.

I'm relieved as had my screening blood tests through in the post this morning that basically say I'm the lowest possible risk (yay) and no further screening needs to take place.

I also started to feel a bit better this week... and then went to stay with my parents for the weekend and didn't sleep as much as I have been so feeling the affects! But fingers crossed my symptoms are moving in the manageable direction.

DSP21 · 08/09/2020 14:53

Hey mums, quick question - the tests they do at the 12 week scan (downs syndrome, nuchal translucency) etc how long does it take to get results?

MrsAndMrs · 08/09/2020 14:57

@ElsiesJourney I have been so irritated by it but the worst comments have been removed and my wife made the point that they're the ones that have made themselves look stupid.

@DSP21 I was told I would be called within 7 days if I was high risk or I would receive a letter within 2-3 weeks if all was okay.

ElsiesJourney · 08/09/2020 14:59

@MrsAndMrs oh 100% they are just showing their true colours

@DSP21 I had my scan and blood tests last Wednesday and my blood results saying all was fine came in the post this morning.

Phie04 · 08/09/2020 15:01

I am happy to wait for everyone to have their scans before a fb group!!

@DSP21 they told me today if high risk I will find out in 3 working days, and 10 if low risk

DSP21 · 08/09/2020 15:03

Thank you @Phie04 @ElsiesJourney @MrsAndMrs

I don't want the in-laws blabbing away to friends and family straight after the scan until i've got the all clear from the tests! In hindsight it might've been easier just keeping it to ourselves!

MrsAndMrs · 08/09/2020 15:03

I've checked my maternity notes app and they've updated my nuchal translucency measurements to it already and all is good there so just my bloods to come back 🤞🏼

DSP21 · 08/09/2020 15:04

@MrsAndMrs oh you have an app..fancy!

Phie04 · 08/09/2020 15:06

@DSP21 I agree. We told OH grandmother last week and she went and told the entire family before we had the second attempt at the 12 week scan! I was so angry. I have told close family members today as even if the risks come back as high I will still love my baby regardless

MrsAndMrs · 08/09/2020 15:07

@DSP21 haha do you not? I was as surprised as you are when they made me download this app 😂 last time I had a baby I was carting around my paper notes everywhere! 😂

DSP21 · 08/09/2020 15:14

@Phie04 oh noo that's what I was dreading! I kept mentioning in every convo with them 'we do NOT want anyone to know so keep it yourself' who knows if they actually kept quiet.

I wanted to use the excuse of the test results to hold them off telling people we would want to tell ourselves so I casually mentioned 'oh they don't come back for 2 weeks or so, so we won't tell anyone till then' hope it works!

I can't understand why parents/grandparents feel it's their news to tell
