Today my baby turned 17 & to think in a few months baby number 2 will be here, its crazy!!
I finally enter the 3rd trimester tomorrow, its gone so fast.
I haven't been given any info about when my glucose test is being done, my 28 week appointment is on monday, so hopefully find out then.

Is everyone having the diabetes test or only if you have risk factors?

Report
Babyhope98 · 02/09/2020 15:10

I don’t think they get you to have it unless you have risk factors my dad has diabetes plus I have pcos x @peachypetite

How's everybody feeling as the third trimester starts? Have been feeling suddenly much more fatigued, and much more uncomfortable in the evenings/getting to sleep as I now feel categorically massive! At my 28 week appt the midwife put me very much at the upper of her range for bump size! And these movements - getting more violent rather than staying cute! Have been feeling emotional too, in an anxious way - we've been spending time with SIL and the family - inc LOUD and EXHAUSTING 3 yr old! Feeling maybe we've bitten off more than we can chew and should have just got another cat after all!

@jojanna I hear you. Movements are definitely stronger and quite distracting at times. I’ve been listening to happy mum happy baby podcast by Giovanna Fletcher on my walks and there was a comment by Nadiya Hussain about feeling super sensitive in pregnancy and taking little comments very personally and I totally related to that!

I'm seeing a difference going in to the third trimester. I'm a lot more uncomfortable in general, I find myself really sore when I'm sleeping and finding it more difficult to get comfortable. I'm still loving my bump but I am getting tireder much quicker just trying to do simple things. Yesterday I was putting the washing out to dry and had to have little sit down afterwards and that's a pretty simple/easy job.

Babies movements are certainly stronger and baby moves for larger portions of the day now I think. I'm also a lot hungrier. I used to easily make it between lunch and evening meal but now have to eat an extra small meal around 4/5ish.

Apology's if this is TMI but is anyone else finding that their lady parts are getting a bit sore/swollen? I dont knowing its the extra weight but doing things like going for a walk seems to have this as a side effect now 🙈

Omg I haven’t stopped eating today!

Kj1010 · 02/09/2020 17:22

I'm not in my third trimester yet 2 weeks off that but I feel the uncomfortableness tiredness already

Report
kkr168 · 02/09/2020 17:40

@Kj1010 it says on the nhs website that anytime between 24-28 weeks is fine. I thought maybe my midwife will be taking bloods on monday but i'm not seeing her till 4pm & she hasn't mentioned not eating or drinking before hand, so I guess that wont be the case!
I'll give the triage midwifes a call in the morning because it seems as though I've been missed.

loobeelou · 02/09/2020 17:42

The glucose test is routine here around 24 weeks (I'm not in the U.K.). I'm 24 weeks on Sat and test is on Tuesday. As much as I hate blood tests, I'm looking forward to a 2 hour break from DS 😂

@kkr168 we all get told so many different things it silly I was originally told by midwife that I can go to my local clinic just fast 10pm night before 1 blood test then done then next midwife said nope up hospital fast 10pm night before only water allowed and its 2 bloodtests etc but am glad it's done also was told if u dont hear ur fine if u do summat wrong lovely reassurance lol how things are by different midwifes

Jellycat2020 · 02/09/2020 17:51

@kkr168 I've not been offered the test and I'm nearly 30 weeks now. I was told they do it on women who have at least one risk factor for gestational diabetes as identified at the first midwife appointment. So I guess I didn't!

Report
kkr168 · 02/09/2020 18:00

@Jellycat2020 I was told I would need it, the midwife mentioned it again at my 25 week appointment, asking if I'm still happy to have it, so no idea why no appointment has arrived

Jellycat2020 · 02/09/2020 18:05

@kkr168 ah OK 😊 worth chasing then!

I've got my diabetes test at 28weeks, no specific risk factors but seems standard at my hospital in London.

2 INSET days and I'm exhausted! God knows what I'll be like when the kids are actually back in 😂 It is so nice to be back though - I am genuinely excited to actually teach something in a face to face classroom!

Yes @Kj1010 for example I’ve been told different things about movements wish they all had a common consensus and said the same things so confusing 🤦‍♀️
