Hey everyone, I'm 31 weeks pregnant and have just found this thread. Just wondered if there was a Facebook group going? X

peachypetite · 04/10/2020 07:57

Slept last night thank goodness! Woke up a couple of times for a wee but went straight back to sleep. Has anyone bought any nice thick cardigans? Going through my stuff that’s the one thing I don’t have anything of. Think I’ll start packing my bags today.

Babyhope98 · 04/10/2020 08:13

Anyone else legs ache at night I feel like I’ve been on a 6 mile hike by the morning 😣

peachypetite · 04/10/2020 08:33

@Babyhope98 if I over do it in the day my legs ache when I go to bed. I sleep with my pregnancy pillow in between them which helps alleviate the pressure.
@Pebblesandblamblam welcome. No we don’t.

NaomiB79 · 04/10/2020 09:50

@Babyhope98 I had real aching in my inner thighs for the last few weeks, not just at night but I would be pretty stiff in the morning. It seems to have eased this week though so not sure what caused it. Another glamorous symptom of third trimester pregnancy! 😂

Jwl45 · 04/10/2020 10:41

I sleep on my left.... And I wake several times a night with a dull ache on left hip bone and my left leg .... I still haven't found a way to alleviate this ... I've tried cushions, pillows, preg pillow ... I turn to my right for a bit then, just to ease the pressure a bit...
It's a nightmare.
Woken this morning with a banging headache - I think due to the rubbish nights I've had recently.

viixie · 04/10/2020 11:05

Anyone waking with headaches? I have for the past two weeks now, it's at the back of my head on my left side and my left eye hurts also. Always wake up with it and then it comes and goes during the day, by the evening it seems to have gone.

confused107 · 04/10/2020 11:38

@viixie I've had a similar headache since last night. No idea why. Trying to not take anything for it and keep my fluids up in case it's dehydration

MummyShark97 · 04/10/2020 15:06

For anyone hanging onto wearing rings like I mentioned the other day I went from being able to get them off with a little difficultly to waking up this morning and it being nearly impossible having to ice my hand and wrap string round just to get them off ! Not a nice feeling worrying you'll have to get them cut off so just wanted to share for everyone else 😩 x

peachypetite · 04/10/2020 19:11

I’m drinking so much water and haven’t had any headaches. Maybe try increasing your fluids?

Jellycat2020 · 04/10/2020 19:37

Woke up with the mother of all headaches this morning. Probably the third time this has happened. I've never been a big drinker (of water!) but have upped it during the pregnancy so I don't think it's that. I try to avoid paracetamol but today I had to give in as I just couldn't stand or look at anything. I do toss and turn a lot at night with hip and back pain.

december2020 · 04/10/2020 21:02

It's been an absolute manic week with 12 hour working days and an upstairs house renovation - what have I signed myself up for! The joy of getting to do it all over again tomorrow.

@Jwl45 you were right! The pain/discomfort went away after a few hours the next day. How odd! I wonder what it could have been, probably the pressure as you said!

Has anyone had their 28 week appointment 2 weeks late? Mine was supposed to be last week (at 29 weeks) but had to reschedule due to work deadlines to this Tuesday.

Still catching up on this thread! Loving the updates! But boy it moves fast!

Jwl45 · 04/10/2020 23:36

@december2020
Glad the pain subsided for you. Touch wood, I haven't had that pain in a while. Finally built pram, (that was a challenge!) Bouncer and checked the sheets I bought weeks ago fit the actual cot 😂
Have had a good clear out today... I think the nesting has begun.... Although was shattered by about 4pm lol.

PipTed · 05/10/2020 07:39

Hey - just catching up with the thread! @nearlyamummyof2boys such great news about Wyatt’s progress! 😊

@MummyShark97 my rings are officially off, woke up on Saturday and my hands were so swollen! So took the plunge to remove them.

I’ve been getting really tired in the afternoons recently, from about 2pm. I’ve been having naps, but now my work want time to work full time for the final month (I’ve been furloughed until now and only working part time for 2 months) - I’m not sure how this is going to work out? They’ve not thought it through.

Also been throwing up after meals due to fullness and heartburn. Trimester three is a hoot! 🤣

jojanna · 05/10/2020 10:11

@Jwl45 and @PipTed - definitely with you on the tiredness! Been sleeping better over the past couple of nights (other than obligatory hip-switching and pee-stops), but still getting pretty tired and sore!

Re: sleeping I routinely switch sides when I wake up - I really can't be doing with the magical aura of sleeping on the left vs right (my understanding is that it's based on a pretty small single study with substantial limitations), especially when staying in one position hurts so much!

jojanna · 05/10/2020 10:27

@peachypetite so far planning on vests, sleep suits, mitts/socks (though actually many of the sleep suits have integrated mitts/socks)... there's been talk of snow suits, swaddles, blankets and such... not sure I want to get a newborn size snowsuit though (anticipating she'll be in it for 5 mins if at all! Been focussing more on 0-3 month size). We've been given some 2nd hand knitted cardies, but I can't tell what size they are! Suspect many of them would just be ginormous on a newborn... maybe blankets is the way to go for the trip home? Don't think baby will be leaving the house much (at all!) for a week or two...

jojanna · 05/10/2020 10:33

3rd post running 8-) need to organise thoughts better!
Getting preoccupied with where baby sleeps atm... we have a pram, moses basket (and stand) and a "beside me" type cot that fixes to our bed... is this enough sleep options to be getting on with, or do we need a free standing cot too?! I think we will eventually, but maybe not in the first 3-6 months? Would be nice to conserve some space in our house that is rapidly being populated with bags of baby bits!

The mattress replacement question keeps giving me qualms too - am pretty determined to replace the one in the moses basket, but the one in the cot has a proper waterproof cover... the OH of course thinks the whole replacement thing is ridiculous (partly as the moses basket came from his sister I think), and bemoans the environmental impact of more petrochemically derived foam :/

NaomiB79 · 05/10/2020 10:36

@jojanna I bought this sleepsuit in Asda last week for her coming home and walks when she is pretty small. They had it in grey too. It was only £11 and is a size 0-1 month. Not sure if we'll need it but all the others ones I saw or were given were really big and I think would drown her. I figured for that price if we don't get much use out of it I can live with that. Like you I have loads of knitted cardigans but it's tricky to work out what size they are. I've not seen that many in the shops.

Due end Nov/early Dec - Hello third trimester!
NaomiB79 · 05/10/2020 10:41

@jojanna that was supposed to say snowsuit

peachypetite · 05/10/2020 10:48

Yeh I’m not bothering with snowsuit/pram suit for now because you can’t put them in the car seat wearing it and it won’t need it on indoors.

Babyhope98 · 05/10/2020 10:48

Anyone been getting headaches my blood pressure has been fine. But think they are maybe congestion ones seems to be occurring daily at the moment 😣

kkr168 · 05/10/2020 11:07

@jojanna if the mattress is 2nd hand you should definitely replace it, it only takes the baby to have sicked up a little to create mould inside the mattress foam.
Moses basket mattresses are so cheap, I paid £5 for this one from Asda www.google.com/amp/s/amp.direct.asda.com/george/baby/moses-baskets-stands/kinder-flow-moses-basket-mattress/002688961,default,pd.html

I think my next2me replacement mattress was around £20

To me it just isn't worth taking the risk

peachypetite · 05/10/2020 11:09

Agree about the mattress. I think you’ll be fine with Moses basket for living room and next to me for bed. I’m looking at getting the nursery furniture ordered so that it’s done even though baby won’t be in there immediately of course.

NaomiB79 · 05/10/2020 11:22

I'm sure this tip for hospital bags has already been shared but thought I would mention it in case others find it useful. My friend said she organised her baby outfits into different sizes and put each one into a labelled ziplock bag so that they are really easy to find by you or your partner as you need them in hospital. I have packed 2 x newborn and 2 x 0-1 month bags. In each bag is a vest, a sleepsuit with integrated feet and mitts, a nappy and a hat.

I have a couple of other labelled bags with spare vests, bibs, muslins, socks etc so everything is easily labelled and easy to find, especially if I have to get DP or a midwife to help me if I have a section for example.

@Babyhope98 I'm with you on the headaches, daily for the last couple of weeks but left back of head and left eye. Waking up with them Confused
