I was also going to ask if anyone knows what to take the the hospital for the bleeding after birth? Heard it can be quite heavy. My friend gave me some disposable pants as she had some left over from her time in hospital (they’re just thin disposable pants) and you wear these with heavy duty sanitary towels? Also bought a pack of like tena lady heavy duty pants and also bought large black cotton briefs.... haha so obviously don’t have a clue! Would appreciate any advice from mums who have been there/ know better xx

NaomiB79 · 02/10/2020 20:42

@Snowwhite2020 defo keep me posted how you go with your scan. My next one isn't until the 16th which still seems a long way off but my midwife said depending on measurements then they will make a decision about inducing early etc. I'll be 36 weeks then. I feel enormous so it is worrying me that she is huge!

Re the night dresses I ordered a couple of the ones below from Bon Prix. I also got an almost identical one in black from Primark, they aren't specifically for nursing so I just ordered a bigger size. I struggled to find pyjamas in a dark colour that button down the front. I never usually wear nightdresses. I have read that dark colours are better for any embarrassing leaks.

Re packing for the bleeding after I've pretty much read all of those things you mentioned - disposable pants and heavy duty pads, tena lady pants and big cotton ones. The big cotton ones are supposed to be good if you end up with a section as you want something that would sit above the wound. I've packed them all in my bag.

@Snowwhite2020 I’ve ordered maternity pads which I think are meant to be more sensitive and softer than normal sanitary ones.

Snowwhite2020 · 02/10/2020 22:26

Thanks @NaomiB79 that looks like a great shout for hospital.. will hop on and have a look at that for sure!

Thanks @peachypetite might have a look online for specific maternity pads. Saw the midwife this week and didn’t think to ask her which was stupid. Imagine that’s what she might have recommended...

Jwl45 · 02/10/2020 23:45

I've opted for the Tesco maternity pads. Did the job with both my last pregnancies.
Agree - big knickers - amazing for C-section (had two of those so this one is a C-section too)
There's a long sleeve striped nightshirt in Matalan .. really comfy. Buttoned down front - ideal for nursing. Not maternity but size up!
Think I over- packed .... Midwife said today all being well, I'd be out the next day ☺️

peachypetite · 03/10/2020 03:58

@Snowwhite2020 I ordered several packs of the boots ones. Also on the topic of nightwear I’ve found dark nighties much easier to find. Don’t know why retailers think we want pale grey or pink pyjama bottoms Angry

danielasummer · 03/10/2020 06:28

@peachypetite @Babyhope98 @Kj1010 it's really annoying but for the first time in over a week I didn't have it last night! Woohoo! If I get it again I will mention it to the midwife as it's so unpleasant! @lionsmum 3rd trimester definitely isn't the most glamorous I agree, thought I peaked in the 1st one with my hot flushes and being horizontal 24/7 on the sofa haha!

Thanks everyone for pj recommendations and @NaomiB79 I really like that one, will take a look!

Packing my hospital bag today.. anyone else wake up super early when they have to do fun baby stuff for the day (asking for a friend..) hehe x

peachypetite · 03/10/2020 06:33

I’m so tired I could cry but I can’t sleep. Have a feeling it’s going to be like this until the end! Funny as only last week I was sleeping really well. Baby movements are getting much more pronounced especially when I’m lying down trying to rest and it’s impossible to ignore them.

excitednerves · 03/10/2020 06:38

@nearlyamummyof2boys wonderful news. You and Wyatt both sound like you’re doing great. Hopefully he’s home soon. X

@danielasummer yes! I have this exactly. I got a little respite when baby turned head down but I think she’s had a growth spurt now so it’s come back as bad as ever 😢

I also need to sort my bag this weekend. Everything is bought, baby clothes washed, I just need to pack and organise it. FYI I went for pyjamas and Tena lady pants as these seem to be the big questions right now!

Bluebell2020 · 03/10/2020 07:35

@confused107 I'm having growth scans too from my 28 week midwife appointment. Had 2 so far and got another next friday for our little baby. So hard not to worry and not to Google... I did exactly the same. Hope it all goes well at the scan next week! Quite a lot of people do have a normal scan after a small or big bump measurement. The bumo measurement can be very inaccurate! x

confused107 · 03/10/2020 08:51

Thanks @Bluebell2020 how are the scans going? It's good that they are keeping a close eye on us I guess. DH threatened to turn off the WiFi unless I stopped googling yesterday!

Kj1010 · 03/10/2020 09:50

Morning all backache has subsided now I think it was where I was carrying buckets of water in work re night wear I brought red tartan bottoms and a top I for some reason have never been allowed to wear night dress while in labour dont no why so havent bothered with night dress this time I'm much more comfortable in trousers anyway I will use big knickers and thick pads like I have done before I've yet to do bag wash clothes etc but on.not due till 13yh dec so have time will do it wen I break up for maternity which is now in like 22 days cant bloody wait I will have my first growth scan tuesday will be 30+2 days be the 2nd time I've seen consultant I am excited but scared at same time cant have partner with me either and I'm the biggest worrier panicker lol I feel like I'm not that big especially when I get ppl saying oh u dont look very pregnant etc then I'm due to see midwife on the 15th be the 2nd time throughout this pregnancy it is madness that I'm classed as high risk yet havent been treated in that way at all just hoping scan shows all is going as shud be at this stage

Bluebell2020 · 03/10/2020 10:04

@confused107 They're not going too bad. Baby is plotting just below 3rd centile but is following the curve which is good because she is growing. Got to wait for the next 1 or 2 scans to judge if she will be brought early and if I will need a C section as so far she has been also breech. Plenty of time for her to turn yet though so fingers crossed.

I've found that most people who go for growth scans have average size baby on the scan though. I've only found one other person who has a small baby like me so far. I was also measuring 4 weeks behind on my fundal height so they don't measure that anymore. I've found they are very reassuring at the scans though. I've googled and diagnosed my baby will all sorts of conditions 🙈 when she's more than likely just going to be a small baby. Still scary though! Especially having to go to scans on your own x

EithneBlue · 03/10/2020 11:12

Hey all, I hope you're all well? I'm too tired and busy at school to keep up with the thread (3 weeks left until half term & mat leave) but skimming this last page it looks as though everyone is getting organised with their bags! My bag has been half packed in the living room for 2 weeks. Probably ought to finish that!

Jwl45 · 03/10/2020 13:55

What have you all got for day time napping?
With my last two, I had a moses basket which we carried up at night. This time round I've got a next to me upstairs. Don't want to be carrying that up and down really.
I have got a lajlo sleepyhead type thing. I'm thinking is this enough? Bought the extra mattress to go with it.

peachypetite · 03/10/2020 14:27

I got a cheap Moses basket in the Aldi baby event.

kkr168 · 03/10/2020 14:42

I have a next to me for upstairs & a Noah pod for downstairs

alphabetti · 03/10/2020 15:19

Does anyone else have a gassy stomach right now? I’m 30+4 and have started taking metaformin a few days ago and they did warn me there could be side effects of nausea/diarrhoea/abdominal cramps but since yesterday I’ve had such a hard and gassy stomach and my right side really sore. I’ve been taking gaviscon and trying to drink lots but just feel like rubbish.

I’ve started to pack my bag for hospital. Didn’t want to take a large suitcase so have put my things in a small cabin case and baby things in baby changing bag.

Kj1010 · 03/10/2020 15:56

I have a moses basket for both my living room and bedroom as both down stairs I also have a travel cot to put in my bedroom once his bigger the dreaded pain has come back down my side I think I've pulled a muscle or strained it very uncomfortable a long soak in bath me thinks then lay and do nothing

danielasummer · 03/10/2020 16:03

We have a moses basket for downstairs and a next to be crib upstairs. Also planning on using the basinet in the pram downstairs if baby has fallen asleep on a walk!

EithneBlue · 03/10/2020 16:27

I have a next to me for our room and a moses basket to carry around the house. I live in one of those new style 3 floor townhouses so wanted at least one portable option... I think I'm going to be sick of stairs + baby. I think it's a shame those baby boxes are no longer easily available as that would have been perfect!

confused107 · 03/10/2020 17:27

There are so many options aren't there? We have a Snuzpod for upstairs and we are going to get a chicco 4 in one air hug for downstairs as it's on wheels so I can easily go from lounge to kitchen ect. Has anyone brought a bouncer/chair thing? Wondering if we need one

Jwl45 · 03/10/2020 18:06

Yes. I have a bouncer chair from Smyth's toys. It converts into a proper little chair once toddler age. Forgot about that. She can snooze there too

Kj1010 · 03/10/2020 18:13

Yes I have a bouncer that vibrates plays music etc only got it as it came with bundle but it's really nice

peachypetite · 03/10/2020 19:31

I have a bouncer too which will hopefully free up hands!
