@Pink15 I know, no idea why its not on there!
Could you check my measurement on yours? I'm just under 32 weeks & measuring 34cm

NaomiB79 · 28/09/2020 20:43

@kkr168 I'm measuring two weeks ahead as well. I'm 33+3 today. I had a growth scan at 30 weeks which is where they said she was measuring big, then she measured big when the midwife checked at 31 weeks and I have another growth scan at 36 weeks. Those scans were booked in because of my age tho not because she was big. My baby is 100th percentile for head measurement and 97th round her waist. They aren't too concerned but will decide after the one at 36 weeks if they think I need to be induced early or need a section or anything like that because of her size. If your midwife isn't concerned then I wouldn't be either, if they want to check things out they'll send you for a growth scan. I don't think the tape measure is always very accurate, my friend got told her baby was measuring big and would be over 9lbs and she came out on her due date and was 6lb 6oz.

peachypetite · 29/09/2020 07:06

I don’t think the tape measure is very accurate at all! I also have friends who were told baby measured big and it wasn’t the case when the baby was born. Question - my next midwife appt is 3 days before my scan to see if my placenta has moved up. Midwife said we will discuss birth plan. Do you think I should ask her to have the appt after the scan? Just thinking is there much point discussing birth in detail when there is a chance I’ll need a c-section?

MummyShark97 · 29/09/2020 07:16

@peachypetite

I think it could be an idea to ask actually! If you know you'll need a c section then as you say it's better to be able to talk around that x

I'm not too sure about the whole tape measure either. I have not been measured with tape until two weeks ago (different midwife). Scans have been telling me "average" size - I've been bang on that line...And then the tape - up it went!! I have midwife Friday now and then a growth scan the following week. Will be interesting to see....
(Midwife did tell me that the scan was more accurate measuring just baby... Where as tape measures me... water ...etc )

Kj1010 · 29/09/2020 07:51

I havent even had a growth scan yet as they bloody cancelled all mine to then only go and book me in for one on 6th oct even tho still waiting on letter as they said will receive one then consultant same day then midwife week after I'll be 31 weeks by the time I've been seen for the second time ever bp took once no weight check no belly measurements nothing and considering I'm classed as high risk doesn't seem they seem to think I am lol oh well

NaomiB79 · 29/09/2020 08:38

@peachypetite I'd defo ask to move your midwife appt so you can discuss the results of the scan and make a more informed decision

MummyShark97 · 29/09/2020 09:12

The tape measure I'm just not at all convinced by tbh!

kkr168 · 29/09/2020 09:34

@peachypetite I have to agree with the others, definitely see if you can rearrange.

I'm not worried about the tape measure just yet, I've had a few scans & they've never mentioned him being a big baby. I should have said that although my son was an average weight at birth, he was very long & I have been told this baby is long/tall at scans, so guess that could affect my bump size.

Its suddenly hit me this morning that I'm in the single digits countdown, 32 weeks on Thursday 😬 I really must get my hospital bag packed!!

peachypetite · 29/09/2020 12:39

Thanks guys I texted midwife and she agreed it makes sense to move it.

PipTed · 29/09/2020 13:39

@peachypetite yes it does make more sense that way. 😊

PipTed · 29/09/2020 13:42

I’m another tape measure sceptic. I’ve been measured with it twice now and both times I’m in the bottom percentile but on the growth scan just average, so I must have a small bump?! Doesn’t feel like it though.

Thanks for those who got back to me re: mattress protectors. I’ve got one ordered! My puppy pads arrived today. 🙈 and I’ve also just had my flu jab (I seem to be a lucky one?!) oh the glamour.

kkr168 · 29/09/2020 14:39

If anyone is still struggling to get their flu jab, Lloyds chemist near me have just added lots more slots, so worth checking your local.

MySafeSpace · 29/09/2020 14:52

@kkr168 if you book via the Lloyds pharmacy do you have to pay?

kkr168 · 29/09/2020 15:23

@MySafeSpace I didn't have to pay

MySafeSpace · 29/09/2020 15:47

@kkr168 ok great thanks I'll try there

NatalieH2220 · 29/09/2020 16:25

Hi everyone, I've not been on for a while. Hope everyone is doing well. I have less than 8 weeks to go. Can't believe how quickly it's coming around now!

Congratulations @nearlyamummyof2boys. What a great weight! Glad that you're both doing so well.

@Piggle21 I don't really have a movement pattern. I didn't with my first son either. Maybe I'm oblivious but I tend to base it more on knowing I've felt some movements than a certain amount in a certain time. Always worth giving them a call if you're concerned though.

@PipTed we have a waterproof protector on the bed. Originally for if my 3yo joined us at night but I'm keeping it until after baby comes in case I need it!

I have my flu jab booked for Thursday. Hopefully it won't get cancelled...

Bluebell2020 · 29/09/2020 19:30

I'm so rubbish with keeping up with this thread! I still dip in and out though!

@kkr168 I don't think they worry as much about big babies! Just as long as they're not enormous and they follow their own curve.

I think the tape measure isn't very accurate but I'm so glad they've done it for me. My bump was measured as way behind at my 28 week appointment and the midwife sent me for a scan on the same day. We're now having scans every other week as our baby is measuring just below 3rd centile. Which is bigger than where my bump was plotted on the graph but obviously still very tiny. Very scary but we wouldn't have had any idea if it wasn't for them measuring me. It means we can keep a close eye on her now.

jalu47 · 29/09/2020 20:55

Hi ladies

If anyone was interested in reusable wipes, I bought the pack from cheeky wipes and they've sent me an extra 15% discount code if it would be useful for anyone..

I am quite impressed with the pack - I haven't decided on cloth nappies yet but thought I'd try to at least do something to reduce my landfill!

confused107 · 30/09/2020 05:25

Thanks @jalu47 I'm tempted to give these a go

This sounds rough, are you getting any chance to nap in the day? Can you take iron supplements?
MrsSmith2020 · 30/09/2020 09:29

I'm shattered.
Constantly up with insomnia and peeing in the night and my back ache is relentless at this point.
29 weeks and feeling like another 10 weeks is just impossible.

I'm working up until the day before the ECS.
Self employed so can't change it- need to finish my project and save save save so I can be at home and work less next year

On the plus side, the baby is kicking and letting me know they are growing and taking up more room; it's so lovely 😊

I am also feeling 3rd trimester sickness. Which can f**k right off Grin

MummyShark97 · 30/09/2020 09:32

@Babyhope98 even with working from home I'm feeling exhausted to make dinner ! So tiring isn't it! No more sleeping through the night for me either it's certainly getting tougher isn't it!

Anyone wearing rings noticing problems getting them on and off now?

Think I'll have to take my wedding/engagement rings off permanently soon!
