@Babyhope98 I heard there was a shortage too. My work usually offer them to all employees at this time of year, you just download a voucher and go to Boots to get it done but Boots have said there is a shortage and they can't do it this year! I'm sure pregnant people should be in the group who are prioritised to get it tho. Maybe check with your GP or midwife to see if there is another way to get it.

jojanna · 27/09/2020 20:36

@danielasummer we're planning on giving reusable nappies a crack too. Am hiring a kit from a local nappy library for the first month, and also bought a couple of bits from thenappylady to try out - planning on getting more once we work out what we like, what fits, and what works for us and little one. I've bought a few "two part" style ones - shaped tots bots bamboozle and little lambs, a couple of wraps - motherease and little lambs, as well as some disposable liners. I suspect the hire kit will have more "flat" nappies, as well as shaped ones, maybe some pocket style or one part-ers to try. I'm also getting a couple of packs of disposable ones too for the first couple of weeks - partly for if people (our mums!) offer to help out, and supposedly it can be tricky to get a good fit in the first couple of weeks while they're really tiny. We'll have literally years to work out the reusables, so I feel having a few disposables on standby is not a terrible thing!

jalu47 · 27/09/2020 20:55

@danielasummer I've just bought the cheeky wipes too, I'm really impressed with the pack and looking forward to trying them out. Still on the fence about the cloths nappies but am going to do some more research!

BG1234 · 27/09/2020 21:08

@Babyhope98. I also have my flu jab booked in for tomorrow at Boots and got a call to say it was cancelled. They’ve said I’ll be on high priority list but can’t tell me when it will be rescheduled Confused

peachypetite · 27/09/2020 22:19

I’m struggling to be seen for whooping cough. I need to call tomorrow and see if the nurse has released more availability. I’m sure flu jab is going to be the same. Nightmare.

EithneBlue · 27/09/2020 22:28

@danielasummer - Ha, probably! I think if you're already used to using reusable items you'll be fine - it's probably a bit of an overwhelming introduction to eco-friendly products if not!! Part of the reason I bought the newborn sized nappies is because I figure if you start with reusables it just becomes how you do it and then it's easier (and also the newborn ones hold their value pretty well for resale so work out very cheap). That said I have a couple of packs of disposables for emergencies and the first poo (which I hear is delightful...)

@Babyhope98 - Oh how very annoying. I have mine booked at Boots tomorrow so we'll see if they behave... I'll just refuse to leave until I get it otherwise, I think ;) On a serious note, you can call your GP and get it booked through them so maybe give that a try?

BG1234 · 27/09/2020 22:41

Yes @peachypetite, my gp was the same. I had to persuade them to do the whooping cough as they said they weren’t doing them and to go back to my midwife- I’d literally just got off the from her and she’d told me to call them!
Couldn’t go through that faff again which is why I thought I was super organised booking my flu jab about a month ago through Boots.
This really is a rubbish time to be pregnant Sad

Asianchick6693 · 28/09/2020 07:55

Morning girls, just catching up on all the messages. Luckily I had my whooping cough last week, waiting on the flu to come in but my GP have recognised I'm in the group of people who need it so they're going to ring me as soon as it's in. Sorry to hear its not been as straight forward for others on here. They emphasise on how important it is for pregnant women to get it so everyone should have the same priority!

My PGP has been considerably better since I've not been in work but I've still had days where I've been in agony just from being in bed? I woke up yesterday and couldn't walk! So I'm going to try and get signed off sick for at least 2 weeks. I cannot fathom going into work and making it 10x worse because thats what happens. See where physio takes me. I am dreading ringing my employer up but I hope it goes okay.

Babyhope98 · 28/09/2020 08:48

My doctors have booked me in for Wednesday to have my flu jab so I won’t bother ringing Boots to complain 😆. Looks like everyone is struggling with Boots I think it’s ridiculous to say there is a shortage when if we booked ours especially a month ago it should be accounted for and being in third trimester and pregnant it’s important for us to have it 🤨

jalu47 · 28/09/2020 09:57

Morning ladies.

Has anyone had any signs of sleep apnea? I had a frightening experience last night where I woke up gasping and think I actually stopped breathing for a moment. I rang the midwife this morning and they didn't seem too concerned and said to call the GP to get referred to a sleep apnea clinic.

This pregnancy has been fraught with breathing difficulties for me especially in the first 12 weeks when I ended up in A&E with all sorts of tests which came back fine. It was so scary though and think I'll be terrified to go to sleep tonight..

Jellycat2020 · 28/09/2020 10:50

🙋🏻‍♀️ Another one waiting on my flu jab. I'm asthmatic, have Coeliac disease (auto-immune) and am 33 weeks pregnant so I'd have thought I'd have been a high priority but haven't heard a sausage! I've had it past few years without any issues. Annoyingly, my husband's work are giving them the Boots flu jab vouchers for the first time and now they can't bloody use them 🤦🏻‍♀️

confused107 · 28/09/2020 10:58

Goodness, sorry to hear of all the trouble you guys have been having with your flu jabs. We booked a while ago at boots and both my husband and I managed to get it on Friday night as booked. Looks like we were very lucky. Hopefully you will all get sorted soon

Asianchick6693 · 28/09/2020 11:00

@jalu47 hey have you tried propping yourself up with pillows? I've been experiencing breathlessness lately and find it a struggle to breathe when lying down but I've propped myself up with as many pillows needed and found it has made a significant difference. It can be frightening as I've experienced similar symptoms to you in the past. I would go to your gp and see what they say but definitely try the propping up if you haven't already.

jalu47 · 28/09/2020 11:18

@Asianchick6693 - thanks. yeah i'm definitely going to try more pillows. I've had a lot of breathlessness throughout, especially whilst lying down, which I've learnt to live with but last night was the first time I clearly stopped breathing for a second and woke up will a really loud and distinct gasp. I'm going to try and talk to the GP and maybe I can get a monitor for overnight or something..

Asianchick6693 · 28/09/2020 11:24

@jalu47 it used to happen to me a lot before I was married and pregnant. They did a sleep study and couldn't find anything. It used to be bad for me when my hay fever played up and I also used to stay in the attic where the air wasn't great. It improved since changing the environment. It's affected me about one time in this pregnancy which I'm thankful for because it's such a terrifying experience. The doctor who analysed my sleep study said it's very unlikely to be obstructive sleep apnoea unless you're severely overweight and have a wide neck etc. I can imagine it being a possibility with pregnancy due to all the organs being pushed up and the pressure of the baby etc but not qualified to know for sure. All the best and hope things improve for you. Let me know what they say!

NaomiB79 · 28/09/2020 12:48

Has anyone heard from or keep in touch with @ChampooPapi? She started this thread and was really active at the start and just wondering how she is getting on and if there was any update on her twins.

jalu47 · 28/09/2020 13:33

thanks @Asianchick6693 I've been on hold with the GP for 45 mins and no hope of getting through.. i'm seeing the obstetrician in 3 weeks so will keep a diary of incidents and think I'll just have to mention to him. Until then our bed is going to be overtaken with pillows!

I've also been struggling to get my flu jab. @Jellycat2020 i'm asthmatic and immunosuppressed too - I'm on a biologic infusion due to crohns - and my surgery have a recorded message saying if you make a flu jab appt and you're not over 65 it will automatically get cancelled. Not sure i have much hope of getting one. I also need an egg free one as i'm allergic which adds to the complications! Seems we are all destined to struggle with this one...

NaomiB79 · 28/09/2020 13:36

@jalu47 do you sleep on your side or on your back? I think the further on in your pregnancy you get if you are on your back it can cause breathing problems as the weight of the baby is pressing on your organs. If you don't have a pregnancy sleeping pillow would defo recommend one as the keep you in a good position on your side. Hope you get it resolved soon, must've been scary waking up gasping for breath.

jalu47 · 28/09/2020 13:41

Thanks @NaomiB79. I was on my left side when it happened and have a pregnancy pillow. Think I need to rest my right arm on another pillow to avoid my chest collapsing and my shoulders becoming very close together. Fingers crossed it was a one off!

peachypetite · 28/09/2020 14:34

Booked in for whooping cough next week, so relieved as I’ll be 32 weeks and that’s the recommended cut off. I did pm Champoo a while back and she’s still on here but on a different thread that suited her better.

NaomiB79 · 28/09/2020 14:49

@peachypetite thanks good to know she's doing okay x

lionsmum · 28/09/2020 15:51

@NaomiB79 I also wondered this about @ChampooPapi I hope her and her twins are doing ok it's been so long since we have heard from her.

@nearlyamummyof2boys hope you are still doing well, so glad to hear Wyatt is, you are on my mind often🥰

Finally hit 30 weeks at the weekend but starting to get really anxious about things with regards to actually bringing a little one home this time, but have been given lots of support from the hospital which I'm so grateful for. Glad I only have 6 weeks to go! Hope everyone else is doing well, the countdown is on😊

nearlyamummyof2boys · 28/09/2020 16:11

@peachypetite I'm glad to know Champoo is doing well 🥰

Thanks @lionsmum he's doing amazing I'm struggling a bit with breast feeding but my body's been through a lot lately so I think expected.
I actually feel pretty good it was such a rough pregnancy I'm happy to have my energy and strength back a bit.
Hospital are just amazing and I know he's in the best hands - trying to get there to see him as much as I can x

kkr168 · 28/09/2020 18:11

Saw the midwife again today, my baby is measuring big, is anyone elses? She didn't seem concerned. I'm booked in to see her again in 3 weeks, so if he's still measuring big can I request a scan to check? My son was only 7lb 2 & he was 2 weeks overdue.
She said he's still head down, his back is running up the front left side of my stomach & his feet are up under my right rib.

I have my 1st aquanatal session tonight, has anyone been before? I'm looking forward to it but could also do without it today, after a rubbish sleep last night I'm so tired.

Pink15 · 28/09/2020 19:59

@kkr168 your graph is hard to read as it only has 50th centile line? Mine has the 50th and then 95th. So yours could still be in normal range it hard to tell as the lines are missing?
