I'm confused about patterns of movement too. My midwife said it's very individual and it's a case of if you are concerned just go in. She said that most people go in at least once.

Also confused about the covid guidance. I'm back in the office two days a week, which I told my midwife and she didn't seem concerned. TBH I quite like going in, feels like a day out and my boss has said if I don't want to I can work from home full time. I haven't asked to do that as I'm still behaving relatively normally (going to shops and out for meals ect) If I stop going in others in the team will have to go in extra days, and I don't think that's fair if I'm still out and about. Might do it when I'm closer to due date though or if it gets any worse

NatalieH2220 · 19/09/2020 18:52

@Babyhope98 we don't have a pattern as such. I feel him daily but not at certain times. I had my 28 weeks appt a couple of weeks ago and he was breech. The following week I felt SO much movement. I called as was concerned but they weren't bothered. Ended up booking a private reassurance scan as it was such a big increase in movements and turns out he's now head down which explains that. Since then he's back to daily movements but no obvious pattern.

Babyhope98 · 19/09/2020 20:07

I think she keeps going from breech to a different position where I feel more kicks higher up. I think when she’s in breech they are not that strong she likes that position a little too much she’s always in it when I’ve been seen😩 hope she sticks to being head down soon x @NatalieH2220

PipTed · 20/09/2020 05:53

Regarding baby movements, I agree there is no set pattern. I just know that the baby moves a lot and has started really rolling around in there. If it seems like this is reduced in anyway, I think I’d call the hospital too.

I tried to feel where head/bum was but it seems to change a lot and get worried I’m poking baby in the eye. 🙈 Had a few incidents where I’ve been walking and baby has moved a lot and stopped me in my tracks. Hoping this is baby moving/ staying head down.

I try to just monitor it like you guys, have a rest and lay on my side and have a sweet or cold/carbonated drink if I feel like I haven’t felt baby in a while. Baby doesn’t seem to like when bump is restricted at one side and kicks the side resting on the bed/pillow.

How is everyone doing with eating now babies are much higher and bigger?

danielasummer · 20/09/2020 07:40

I went in for reduced movements on Friday evening and the midwife was lovely and reassuring and said she'd rather have me in every day and nothing be wrong than me not come in and something be wrong. She also said that baby was likely hiding behind placenta (I have anterior high) so I wouldn't have felt movements as much or as powerfully. I absolutely recommend going in if you have reduced movements at this stage in pregnancy, I wasn't there for long (maybe 40 mins) and was very reassured after.

danielasummer · 20/09/2020 07:42

Just wondering at what stage people have put up their next to bed cribs, prams, other nursery furniture etc and washed baby clothes? I'm 28+4 and although it seems early, my house is covered in boxes of baby stuff so I'm keen to get it done but I know I have another 11ish weeks to go!

Pea1984 · 20/09/2020 07:52

@danielasummer our flat is the same and it’s starting to drive me mad. I’m a teacher so hoping to get the nursery done by half term when I’ll be 32 weeks. Then will probably put the bedside crib together by 36 weeks and start washing clothes etc. FTM so no idea if that’s too early or late. I’d be interested to see what others say.

peachypetite · 20/09/2020 08:26

I’m finishing work in October and will probably do the baby sorting and decorating nursery then so I have things to do!

Amyyy1 · 20/09/2020 08:33

I've been in hospital the past couple of days due to severe anemia and although baby was moving normally the midwives were more than happy to come down and check on her to reassure me that she was ok and not being affected. It's made me feel a lot better for if I ever do need to go in for reduced movements as they were all so lovely and nothing was too much for them!

Amyyy1 · 20/09/2020 08:34

Also how are you all knowing where baby's positioning is or where the head and bum is?? I keep feeling my bump but I have no idea and she seems to move all over the place so can't even base it on where I feel the most kicks!!!😬

peachypetite · 20/09/2020 08:41

@Amyyy1 I don’t have a clue either.

peachypetite · 20/09/2020 08:42

Posted too early - was that picked up at a blood test? Hope you’re feeling better Flowers

Amyyy1 · 20/09/2020 08:47

@peachypetite Nope, I was feeling really unwell and passed out again and then had horrible chest pain so my mum phoned 111 for advice who sent an ambulance to us and cos I had a super high heart rate and high BP they sent me to hospital and it was picked up there from a blood test. They are doing an investigation into it atm as to how it has been missed so many times considering how many blood tests I have had recently. One theory the doctor has was as it was so low they may have just assumed the test was wrong🤔

NaomiB79 · 20/09/2020 09:24

@danielasummer I'm 32 weeks now and I've pretty much washed all blankets, sheets, newborn and 0-1 month clothes. I am hoping to get all my 0-3 month clothes done in the next few weeks. The nursery is finished and I've laid out everything for my hospital bag bar a few bits and pieces I still need to get. I have a fear that my baby will come early so wanted to be super organised plus get everything washed and dried whilst the weather was nice x

NaomiB79 · 20/09/2020 09:28

@Amyyy1 sorry to hear you've not been well, that's a bit worrying it wasn't picked up on any blood tests! You're in the best place to be looked after and for them to try and get to the bottom of it and it's great news that your baby is fine. Take care, hope you feel better soon x

Jwl45 · 20/09/2020 09:36

Well I haven't washed the clothes yet... Need to get some baby friendly washing liquid etc and get on with it whilst the weather is nice. But don't want that lovely fresh baby smell to fade.....
Got all the big furniture...pram ... Bedside cot. Built that. Just waiting on sheets. Ordered a babylo cozi... was told in shop it would go with divan. But I dear it's too tall and won't slide u Der bed. And have no slats to tie straps to so guess it will be a standalon after all. Am annoyed I was told it would fit. Should have researched better. Should build pram to check all the bits and bobs are there lol. I'm now 32 +2. Baby coming at 39 as have to have a C-section. Hospital bag? Not even started 🤦‍♀️😂

lc86 · 20/09/2020 10:02

@Jwl45 we bought the same under bed one. You'll be surprised. We have a divan and it fits under lovely and seems really secure next to it without being able to tie it as there's a lip which would stop baby being able to roll out etc xx

Babyhope98 · 20/09/2020 12:07

Oh bless you @Amyyy1 glad they have finally found out why you have been fainting hope you feel better soon! X

Pinktruffle · 20/09/2020 12:47

I hope you're feeling better soon @Amyyy1, that must have been so scary!

Baby movements are doing my head in. I've started using the count my kicks app, but dont do it everyday. Baby seems to have days where it does lots and others where it does little. It was moving (as in rolling not kicking) a lot last night but today I've had a couple of gentle kicks and that's it. There seems to be no real pattern. I've not had a kick for an hour now, I feel like I go through things drama/anxiety every 2 days!

I washed all the baby clothes and blankets yesterday. Cot is up as is the next to me crib and everything is kind of stuffed in the nursery. Car seat is fitted - we wanted to test it but felt pointless dismantling it after so we've just left it in the car. Pram is yet to be delivered as we don't have much storage, will get that delivered closer to the due date. I just need to sort my hospital bag now once babys clothes are dry - I still need to buy all my maternity pads etc but really need to get on it, I'm 31 weeks this coming week.

Kj1010 · 20/09/2020 13:35

Hiya all I've hit the third trimester today also had a bit of uncomfortable pain on side but have read u can experience this from 28 weeks my little one has a pattern but they dont feel strong still only every now and then strong ones havent washed nothing yet will do wen I have half term or wen I go on maternity leave same for pram etc I've only got pjs so far for hospital lmao

Babyhope98 · 20/09/2020 14:13

@Pinktruffle that sounds similar to me I’m just starting to think maybe this is her pattern.. as long as I feel her every few hours I am happy with this. I’ll do my head in otherwise because she seems to have a quiet few days every week now I still feel her just kicks not a persistent or as strong on these quiet days x

Jwl45 · 20/09/2020 14:16

@lc86 ah that's good to know... I'll try it later now and see.

(I have just read my post.... Predictive texting....apologies! It was awful to read back 😬)

Pinktruffle · 20/09/2020 14:47

@Babyhope98 yeah that sounds very similar. I don't want to drive myself crazy so just trying to take it in my stride, as long as I feel some movement/kicking. That's why I don't count kicks everyday, sometimes I think it makes me worry more!

I'm very lucky, I'm still sleeping well on the whole so miss a lot of the night movement but feel its constantly when I get up for a wee or to turn over.

peachypetite · 20/09/2020 14:47

I’ve been more relaxed than I thought about tracking movement. I think because I have an anterior placenta and didn’t feel anything until 23 weeks I know I won’t be feeling things so strong all the time. I usually feel it in the morning, after food and when I lie down so I feel okay. I think a lot of it is going to be down to instinct too, just having a feeling that baby isn’t their selves and only we as the ones carrying it can know. I agree it’s always better to go in if you are feeling worried.

EithneBlue · 20/09/2020 16:21

@Pinktruffle I often don't notice movement at all when I'm at school runnining around doing things but as soon as I get home and sit down it has a little party in there.
@peachypetite - literally all the midwives I have spoken to have said "trust your instinct" on movements! I didn't really get clear movement until 28 weeks to be honest though - now I can't miss it.
