Hi all,

Yeah, do share your sleep problem (well, Isla's sleep problem) . Sleep has definately gone downhill in this house of the last few nights. I've been putting it down to Theo's ear infection and the anti-biotics which he doesn't seem happy taking at all. He's poo-ing a lot more and seems in quite a bit of discomort.... Anyway he is now back up to waking 3 times a night, and I've resorted to bringing him in with me. Once my friend has gone tomorrow I'll try to get more of a routine back on again, especially as the anti-bio's finish today .

Nothing kinky with my friend I'm afraid Greedy . I've not seen her for over a year until this visit and she has been a massive help with the boys - she's Max's new best pal . She doesn't have kids so I think we've exhausted her as she's nodded off as we were watching a film . So I thought I'd pop on here and check progress. Dont feel to pressured Honeyapple.

I think I will mail you rainbowdays to see what you do - I'm intrigued . Sorry that you are away from your DC - it must be really hard. Hope the next few days flies by.

Hi Firsty - good to hear Ty is getting back on the straight and narrow with sleep . I've just got my jumperoo, got it from gumtree in the end of £30 and no P&P to pay as we collected - much cheaper than e-bay but we were lucky there was one for sale. It looks really good and although Theo hasn't tried it yet (haven't got round o giving it a good clean) I reckon he'll get some good use out of it within the next couple of weeks as his neck and back are getting strong now and he can hold himslef up fairly well. If only lived closed you could have brought Ty round for a try

Hi Mrsmc - hope you've got a good weekend lined up!! Is it this weekend or next that your family are up?? Any amby luck?

Sorry to hear you are having some dodgy nights greedy but great to hear that Marcy has some cheeky grins for her mum - Gorgeous!!!!

Best be off x

honeyapple · 03/11/2007 10:32

Thought things were happening this morning as had a few vaguely regular pains... so got up and decided to march to the garage to buy newspapers... big hill on the way back... but typically all seems to have gone quiet again! Looks like this is just the pattern this labour is going to take and I just have to give in and accept it!

Going to go out for a walk later, cant stand hanging around in the house, getting a bit of cabin fever and feel like I need to keep active.

Anyway, thanks for all your thoughts!

xx

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/11/2007 20:16

Ooo Ooo Ooo!!! I JUST KNOW THAT HONEYAPPLE IS IN LABOUR RIGHT NOW!!!!! i have SUCH a strong feeling about it! i KNOW i am right, i have to be!!! good luck honey!

my friend is due today and we have just seen her at another friends fireworks party. she looked fed up and fat!!! sounds familiar hey? i am fed up and fat and not even pg anymore!!! actually, not really fed up....just fat!!!

dh decided it was a good idea to invite people round here tomorrow for fireworks. only 8 adults and 7 kids, but enough to stress me out when i have a 3 and a half week baby to look after too! he just doesn't think sometimes!!

chooster - shame about theo waking in the night again. you just get their sleeping sussed and then they get ill or start teething or something dont they?!! typical!!! have you put your friend off having kids or made her want them??? i was thinking about theo and toby the other day..........are they still non crying babies? you two are lucky..................marcy can scream for england, although she is nowhere near as loud as dd1 was!!! her cry was deafening!!!

right......off to watch some crap on tv before another early night!!!

by the way.......i am all talk and no action!!! we still havent managed to have that all important FSAB (first shag after baby!) i want to mentally but havent got the energy physically!!

fettleandbabyfettle · 03/11/2007 20:17

Just popping on to say "I love Infant Gaviscon"!!!!

And to say what a fantastic fireworks we've just been to - DD loved it - all set to music really well. Toby slept through the entire thing, not even a murmur and it was pretty loud!!!

Hope you are all having good weekends?

fettleandbabyfettle · 03/11/2007 20:20

Crossed with your Greedy - I'm feeling very fat too at the moment and you're half my size at least!!!

Toby is generally a non-crying baby, unless I leave him too long when he's told me he wants food - apart from this screaming following feeding, but now we've got the Gaviscon it's stopped - I know it's only been two days, but the improvement is amazing - so hope it lasts, it was horrible seeing him in so much pain!

reflux is EVIL!!! ds had it (although being a first time clueless mum, i didnt know at the time!!) and it caused him lots of problems. so glad little toby has been diagnosed so quickly and is getting some treatment.
big kisses to toby from marcy!!!!!

Bodkin · 03/11/2007 20:54

So glad the Gav is working for you Fettle. I did try it with my little monster, but it was so traumatic trying to get it in her (using a syringe, but maybe I should have tried a bottle) that i gave up. The couple of times I did successfully get it in her, it made her poo do very strange things (one time luminous green, another time it went a bit like mashed potato )

My sleeping problem was actually a napping problem - nights, so far, are still OK, just the one feed at 4ish (Chooster, hope yours get back on track soon!) She had settled into a nice pattern of a short nap between 8-9am, then a longer 2-3 hour nap between 11 - 1/2pm and then maybe another hour or two later in the afternoon (I know, I know, she loves her kip) Anyway, she started waking up after an hour at the lunchtime nap, so I assumed she had had enough kip, but she was just ghastly for the rest of the day - screaming, thrashing around, pissing about with feeds, not going down well for subsequent naps, etc.etc. So now, when she stirs after an hour - I rush out, whizz the pram round the garden until she's fast asleep again and hey presto - she is much less of a pain in the arse

Having said that, she napped fine today, but then I tried to take her and DD1 to a bonfire/halloween party and it was a chuffing nightmare. DD1 was fab (she is by far my favourite daughter today ) and Isla was just a screaming wretch until we got home, when she was all smiles again.... grrrr....OK, we shall not leave the house again!

Basically she hates: carseats, buggies, the baby bjorn, being carried, being put down, being in the pram on her front (unless asleep), being in the pram on back, being rocked, being cuddled....

She likes: The Boob, lying on her mat with her nappy off for short periods, sleeping, er, thats it. So things are a leetle bit tricky at Bodkin towers at the mo.

Anyway, i feel better after a rant. She's lovely, but high-maintenance. I feel like I spend all my energy trying to keep her in a good place. Although it could be worse, at least she sleeps well, it's just the awake bits that are hard work! On the plus side, she hasn't done a night puke for a few nights now!

Greedy - sounds like Marcy is a lively little tinker as well! Have you put some more pictures on yet? I bet she's changed loads. I'll find a recent one of my mini-monster to put up.

I think you're right about Honeyapple - I bet her little pippin is on his way right now

Sorry, bit me me me, but am knackered and DP has gone to Italy for the weekend (work) so am feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Hello everyone else!

Ready · 03/11/2007 21:13

Hi ladies. Nothing to report, just wanted to say hello. And I am not mentioning a certain lady that has yet to pop Hope everyone is grand

fettleandbabyfettle · 03/11/2007 21:52

Oh bodders - that doesn't sound like much fun - but I'm jealous that you sound as if you have a routine in the first place to go wrong! Good you've sorted it out though. Sorry, that she's a minx - obviously very intelligent and knows what she wants already!!

I'm using a syringe for the gaviscon with Toby - he's not sure at first, but then seems quite happy to take it slowly in - think he realises it is to make him better. So hope it isn't a one (or two) off and it carries on working, but it is a pain to prepare and give to him!

We're on for a bad night I think tonight, as he's been asleep most of the day - still sleeps loads! And due to the fireworks has missed out on his early evening awake time.

Big waves to Ready!!

And big kisses back to Marcy from Toby - when should we set the wedding date, Greeds?!

sleep well all

OP posts:
Chooster · 04/11/2007 13:14

So pleased the gaviscon is working on Toby Fettle! Thats great news... Was last night as bad as you thought? My DS1 still doesn't like fireworks so we tend to give fireworks parties a miss, which is just as well as he was in bed at 6pm last night. He was KNACKERED!! And really grumpy so we shipped him off to bed for the good of all of us. Theo went to bed at 7pm as well so DH and I had loads of time to get ready for our fancy dress party - I went as Inspector gadget in the end . DH made all the bits for me, including a propeller hat and he did a fab job. Very good fun... but DS2 was awake when we got home at midnight - Grrrr - But he fed well and then slept til 5am. He's still waking more than he used to and regularly (well the last 4 mornings) wakes about 6am regardless of when he was last fed and stirs a bit then does a mahoosive poo and nods back off .

I think you are right Greedy!!! Honey has her little one in her arms right now

Ooops, Theo waking, will pop back later. His little pattern is feed, play for about an hour or so then sleep for 45 mins then play feed.... and so it goes. He's quite predictable during the day... And yes, he is still a non-cryer. The only times are when he's hungry or has some trapped wind. Mostly though he's fairly relaxed. Sorry that Isla and Marcy are having a good shout!!! Right, my little man is starting to get cross... Speak later

greedygreedyguzzler · 04/11/2007 13:24

sounds tough bodders. some people have such chilled out babies who just sit happily all day and its not fair is it? my dd1 was a bit like that, very chilled but i reckon marcy is going to be a bit of a pickle too!

she is the greediest baby in the world! she takes SO MUCH formula and still only manages 3 1/2 hrs between feeds. i think she is going to end up bigger than dd1 and i thought that was impossible!!!

honeyapple · 04/11/2007 18:28

Sorry guys- still here, still pg !!
Just had quite a busy weekend and havent had a chance to post. I dont think this baby is ever coming out! It has def dropped lower though as I have developed a real John Wayne walk since yesterday- and more weird contractions that dont turn into anything.

Went to fireworks display last night- was hoping it would trigger off labour- mulled wine, load bangs, standing up for hours! Would have been a good story to tell LO... but NO, not to be.

That castor oil is sounding mighty appealing at the moment !!

honeyapple · 04/11/2007 18:29

LOUD bangs!

Bodkin · 04/11/2007 19:50

Aww, sorry Honeyapple - really sorry you're still hanging in there. You must be right royally pissed off! Still, Christmas babies are great, honestly

Greedy - A hungry lady eh? Blimmin good job she's on the formula then, otherwise your knockers would be like a pair of spaniels ears by now Yeah, chilled out babies, tsk - I really thought i'd get one this time, but twas not to be. The thing that irritates me the most is when I'm out and about with her, and she's crying, and some (well-meaning) old bag goes, "ooh, is it lunch-time?" or "oh, someone's hungry" Yeah, like I'm just leaving her to starve. F* off - she's just bloody miserable!

Actually, we did go out and feed the ducks this afternoon, and for about 15 mins, there was an oasis of calm, which reminded me, she wont be like this forever

Hey there Ready McSteady . How've your Halloween/Bonfire nights been?
Fettle - just curious - with the Gav, do you give it before the feed or after? It says to do it after on the pack - but that makes no sense, because by the time i've started to administer it, she's usually started doing the screaming and possetting!

Chooster - your party sounds like a right laugh - top marks to your DH for sorting out a great costume for you! Sounds like your Theo is a good lad for you, although 45 mins asleep at a time means you can't get much time on Mumsnet done

fettleandbabyfettle · 04/11/2007 21:13

Honey - remember, remember the 5th of November??[hopeful emoticon!]

Greedy - Marcy taking after her mother then!!!

Bodders - sorry Isla is not a happy baby - but I agree with other people's comments on your crying baby! Used to find it really irritating with DD - this time around, I have to deal with "oh he's sleeping again!" or "how's his sleeping at night, as he's always asleep during the day when i see him!" and other useful comments!!! [for information, so far he sleeps very well at all times during the day and night - he is a very dull baby, but I love him!!!] I give the gaviscon after a feed, unless he's asleep (as that means he's not screaming!) - he does then tend to feed again, so I give half a dose at first and then the rest later if necessary. he still screams, but does now seem to know that the yukky stuff is good for him, as he almost sucks it out of the syringe himself! So hope he grows out of it soon though - can't even consider starting a routine while he's so unsettled in the evenings - see how it goes over the next few weeks.

Chooster - glad Theo's still a happy baby. You seem to have a very active social life at the mo - good babysitters as well I assume. Living so far from any relatives here, not sure I'd trust anyone else with my 2 just yet and then Toby needs me all evening, so can't yet go out - must get around to expressing or trying some bottles fo formula.

Hope all well with you, Firsty, kitkat and buggy.

how are all you pg ladies doing? can't believe how close it is getting for you now Mrs?!!

006 - hope you've had a relaxing weekend off from your spy-work!! Not long now until you see your little ones.

take care all

Sorry Bodders - not very clear, meant to say that he does scream until after i've given the medicine and then he stops, so I assume the relief is pretty immediate?!

Morning all

WELL!! SOme developments (I hope)...

started having contractions about 2am... got up, took some paracetamol and went back to bed. Managed to sleep a bit in between pains every half hour or so... got up at 6am... did lunch boxes for DC... then have been pootling about the house having pains which seem to be a bit irregular, but definately contrations. DP took kids to school, I had a bath...

now contractions are getting a bit livelier and so feeling a bit more like something might actually be going to happen... hopefully today!

DP been cleaning the house like a loon, and now has gone to the supermarket! I think he has got the nesting bug .

And it hurts! Boo hoo... keep reminding myself that this is the easy bit. Seems to be going pretty slowly, but maybe that is better? I dunno... will update you later,

lots of love
hxx

fettleandbabyfettle · 05/11/2007 10:16

ooh - good luck Honey!! Told you November 5th - easy to remember and lots of easy fireworks birthday parties in the years ahead!!!

Big contraction pain soothing thoughts!!! Let us know how it goes as and when you can!!

So excited for you - yes it does hurt, but only for a little bit at a time, then you get some rest and finally a little tiny baby to cuddle!! I'm jealous!!! My 6 week old monster already seems huge compared to my ickle minute old boy!!!

Yay Honeyapple!!! Some action! Hope things have escalated since you posted. So excited for you! Are your DCs going to be around later after school, or have you got someone on standby to take them off?

Aw, Firsty, you've just made me well-up now! LIke you say, once you get back into the swing of things with work, it will all be ok and you can make the most of the days (and nights !) you get with Ty. Isla woke up twice last night as well (it has been just once at 4 ish for ages now) So could well be they're all going through a growth spurt, as Isla, Theo and Ty are all around the same age [hopeful]! PMSL at dribbling like a water feature!!! My DD1 was just like that - every photo of her from 3 months to 2.5 years has a lovely "water feature" down the front of her top! Hope Isla doesnt suffer so badly, but so far they are identical babies, so I@m expecting the deluge anytime soon

Fettle - I'm thinking about persevering with the Gav again, after your success. The mixing up is such a faff though. Do you think it would be ok to mix up a days worth of sachets in advance and store it in a cup with a lid on it, to make it easier to administer? Have you tasted it yourself? Grim isn't it! Maybe I should mix it with a bit of formula to make it more palatable.... Sorry, i'm going off on one now..... Do you know how it works though? Basically it is Alginate (the rubbery stuff dentists use to make a mould of your teeth) and it solidifies the contents of their stomachs somewhat to make it more difficult for them to bring up! No wonder her poo was like mashed potato! Made changing the nappy much easier though!

Will pop back later for Honeyapple News!!!!

iampgatlast · 05/11/2007 12:23

aww good luck honey!!! hopefully next time you post it will be news of your little ones arrival. i hope everything goes smoothly and not too painful for you

hello everyone! hope you all had a lovely bonfire weekend - we didnt go to any displays or anything dp is such a misery guts!

we are supposed to be going to see meatloaf at wembley tomorrow night but lookslike it will be rescheduled grrrr just my luck!! i dont fancy going to a concert and on the tube heavily pregnant but we shall see what happens.

i havnt caught up again so selfish of me but i really need some advice from you experienced ladies....
as you know we have moved and dp is knocking down the walls downstairs as we speak - i have gone into panic mode im so worried things wont be ready for little one and we will be in a mess. i know i have 3 months to go but there is so much work to do the whole house needs doing!
we went for dinner last night with a couple from my antenatal group and she is totally prepared has everything already bag packed and all that - help!!
i thought i knew everything which was needed but now im not so sure...so ladies what do i need for when baby is here (his room wont be done until he is born) so just need bits to get by with and also what do i pack in my hospital bag?!
cant believe i am panicking but i hate being unorganised and in total mayhem!!
have a good monday all xxxx

fettleandbabyfettle · 05/11/2007 13:31

Just popping in for Honey update!

Bodders - not sure what your doctor's told you, but I was told only to use half a sachet for Toby each time, not the full 2 sachets he would be entitled to. It does say on the packet to make up immediately before use, so not sure if could make up much in advance.

IamPG - don't worry about anything. All you will need in those first few weeks is somewhere for baby to sleep, whether than be moses basket, cot, amby or carrycot; nappies, wipes/cotton wool, cream; some clothes; muslin cloths for dribbles/posset etc; and feeding apparatus either boobs! or bottles and steriliser and formula of choice. Beyond that all he needs is love and cuddles and his mummy!!!

hospital bag - I'll come back to unless someone else gets there first as DD is smothering Toby with kisses and I need to intervene!!

HONEY!!!!!!!! how exciting!!!! i hope it has all gone/ is going smoothly. i am not at all jealous of you being in labour, but i am jealous of the lovely feeling you will get when you meet your little boy for the first time!! good luck and enjoy!!

bodders, fettle - know what you mean with all the stupid comments! i keep getting "Ooooooo she looks really contented" and "is she still asleep!" and "Oh i LOVE her hat!!!" (it IS especially cute i have to say!!!)..............in fact even though people are saying nice things it still irritates me.................and then if they dont say anything and ignore her, that winds me up too!!!!!............there is just no pleasing me!!! ( bad thing is.............i find myself saying all the equally crap comments to other people with new babies or crap comments to pg women that i hated hearing when i was pg!!!)

honey - are you SURE you want a baby anyway!!! i am moaning that marcy is too greedy, fettle is moaning that toby is boring and bodders is moaning that isla is miserable!!!!......maybe they are not all they are cracked up to be these babies!!! (just kidding obviously, marcy is a little superstar.......just cant wait for her to get some kind of routine going and maybe go a bit longer between feeds at night time)

firsty - marcy takes between 5-7oz every 3 1/2 hours. seems like a lot to me...what do you think? our fireworks party was great thanks...i shouldn't doubt dh really, he had it all under control and was a star!
firsty - you definately need to have another baby, cos you dont give a shit about people judging you when its your second (or third!!)...............well maybe you do a bit, but i am certainly a lot more relaxed in public than i ever was with ds!

my friend had her baby yesterday. VERY exciting! cant wait to go and visit and its a little girl so will be a playmate for marcy hopefully!

iampg - dont worry about your house not being finished! mine still isnt and it REALLY doesn't matter. like everyone says, babies dotn care about the state of your house, it is only you that cares. but i know it doesn't matter what i say cos everyone told me not to stress out and i still did! as for your hospital bag, i would say look at one of the lists in your bounty book or in the mothercare catalogue and work from that. they are completely over the top so if you get everything they recommend you should have it covered!!
