There are always loads on gumtree, and you can up-cycle the thing of you have the inclination. We got ours when we were living in Bristol and there were at least three of those IKEA ones available over the city ranging from 15 pounds to fifty. People always want rid of this sort of thing and furniture can be so easily cleaned and re painted

ChampooPapi · 07/10/2020 19:39

Plus you can put their clothes underneath which is so useful 🙂

FireflyGirl · 07/10/2020 19:47

@MilsCookie everyone I know who had a changing table barely used them. They come up a lot on eBay and Facebook market place. MSE have a part of their page where you can enter your postcode and what you're looking for and it'll bring up local, collection only items.

Personally, I used the dressing table part of the built in wardrobes in our bedroom upstairs, and the top of a chest of drawers in the living room downstairs. DS did not like staying still for nappy changes, and by the time he was 9 months, they were all done with him stood upright playing with something on the sofa while I changed him like a ninja Grin

It helped that he was a really obvious pooper, though, so a lot of the time when we were at home I managed to get him on the loo/potty for poos - chasing a poopy bum the length of the sofa was not fun!

My sister had a cot top changer which she found useful. Cheaper and more space-economic (??) than a changing table.

ChampooPapi · 07/10/2020 19:47

@MilsCookie there are some cool ones that have baths actually built in, I just saw a great one on gumtree, it is the best place, these furniture things are soo overpriced new

FireflyGirl · 07/10/2020 19:50

Whoops, cross post Grin I'm very slow at posting today!

Just goes to show, it's all down to personal preference, and what you already have and what you have space to fit in!

ChampooPapi · 07/10/2020 19:51

@FireflyGirl that Cott top changer is practically the same as the IKEA change mat, though the base is probably harder on the one you linked? Great idea though. I really liked not bending over and doing it standing up last time, I never had one with my first and survived just fine, though I was only 22 so my back was in much better form

Babyghirl · 07/10/2020 19:52

@milscookie
Hoping so after 2 losses am hoping 3rd time lucky and if I hear a heart beat tomara I thing me and other half will cry 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈

ChampooPapi · 07/10/2020 19:54

@FireflyGirl Facebook marketplace could be a winner in this situation for sure, people always want rid of these sorts of things, I mean even after painting ours in a couple of years and with no more babies on the horizon I'll probably move it on too for the same price I got it for, or just give the thing away. It has been useful for clothing of course but one they move more into wardrobe age one is keen to get rid of the multiple chest of drawers that seem to breed!

ChampooPapi · 07/10/2020 19:56

And yet I now want the change table with the built in bath 🤦 I'm insatiable

ChampooPapi · 07/10/2020 19:59

@Babyghirl good luck for tomorrow, everything crossed for you guys 🤞🤞

FireflyGirl · 07/10/2020 20:00

Just want to add, on the subject of changing - have a 'changing station' upstairs and downstairs - you don't want to be forever going up and down, especially with two of them! I (already Blush) have nappies, wipes, muslins, vests and sleep suits at both. I'll add nappy cream and talc (Asda and Home Bargains do liquid talc, I use it to stop my chub rub in the summer!) if needed, but despite having sensitive skin DS only ever had nappy rash a couple of times when teething. Due in large part, I think, to being very indiscreet when he filled his nappy so he was always changed straight away!

Ejb86 · 07/10/2020 20:01

@MilsCookie we used our changing table a lot, it's a drawer unit underneath which is where all George's clothes were kept.

When I was expecting the twins I bought a travel cot a bit like this www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/baby/nursery-and-bedding/travel-cots/mini-uno-3-in-1-travel-cot-and-changer/p/184067?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5-auz5Sj7AIVh7TtCh1NwgOqEAQYAiABEgJ27_D_BwE but second hand. Mostly because I was thinking about keeping one baby safe away from 2 year old hands while I changed the other! We were going to keep that downstairs and the changing unit upstairs. Also knew that I would really struggle taking them upstairs after the section.

FireflyGirl · 07/10/2020 20:01

Good luck tomorrow @Babyghirl Flowers

Ejb86 · 07/10/2020 20:05

@MilsCookie And I'm ok thanks, but think I may have caught covid at work. Waiting for test results at the moment.

ChampooPapi · 07/10/2020 20:09

@FireflyGirl yes! I need to get some of these things! I keep forgetting about the actual 'stuff' for the downstairs station, other then the change mat part I have nothing for the downstairs area. I need to get some of those woven baskets for keeping it all in too. Will the purchasing ever end?! (Possibly the answer could be no?)

Babyghirl · 07/10/2020 20:10

@champoopapi
@fireflygirl
Thank you girls just 12 hours to go just cleaned my teeth and my gums bleed never bleed in my life what's going on lol x

ChampooPapi · 07/10/2020 20:12

@Ejb86 hey that's a great travel cot, could be very useful that's for certain when the babies are a few months old as well. How are you coping with covid? Are you doing ok? It is such a worry though, when are your results expected back?

TerribleImagination · 07/10/2020 20:42

@MilsCookie I’m going for a walk mounted, pull down changing table, just to save on space really!

Aww @Ejb86 sorry to hear about the dreading COVID! Or maybe COVID! How are you feeling??

Good luck tomorrow @Babyghirl, will be thinking of you! Also my gums have bled when brushing teeth since I’ve been pregnant, so that definitely seems like a sign things are progressing for you!

TerribleImagination · 07/10/2020 20:43

*wall mounted! Stupid phone autocorrect

Ejb86 · 07/10/2020 20:48

@ChampooPapi I thought it was quite handy. Will see how we go with this one, but it may come down out of the loft.

I'm coping ok, not really coughing or got a temp, think my sense of smell is slightly off. I am struggling to get warm, off my food and have a slightly sore throat. My body aches, particularly my hips and head has been bad for a few days.

Did a postal test today, so I'd imagine it will be Friday or Saturday before we get any results.

AlviesMam · 07/10/2020 20:52

@ChampooPapi @MilsCookie gorgeous bump ladies you both look AMAZING.

God all this talk about babies coming soon and all your updates are making me emotional. Can't believe how far we have all came and now we're finally getting to our prize at the end of the rainbow. I'm so proud of all of you and I don't think I would have gotten through this journey without this groups support. The best strangers ever! 😂❤️

@BS9790 I agree with @ChampooPapi I would go in and get monitored and checked out... I'm new to all this but not sure how long you stay 1-2cm??? Sounds like your definitely coming early?

Still worrying every night about birth. Dark nights and that autumn smell is setting in reminding me of when I gave birth last year (October 19th with Alvie) it's bringing flash backs Sad I never thought I'd make it here and this time last year I never thought I could ever be happy again. I just want to meet her now. I'm trying hypnobirthing techniques and positive thoughts. I can handle the pain I just need to handle not letting the negative thoughts in. I'm a person that has to prepare for the worst which is stressing me out. I've picked her going home outfit out and it's all ready to be ironed making me tear up again 😢

AlviesMam · 07/10/2020 20:52

@Babyghirl Good Luck. Positive thoughts for you xxx

Babyghirl · 07/10/2020 20:52

@terribleimagination
First time in any of my pregnancies that has ever happened so taking it as a good sign. 💚🍀

Babyghirl · 07/10/2020 20:54

@terribleimagination
@Alviesmam
Thank you girls I hope to. Report tomara with good news xx

BS9790 · 07/10/2020 22:41

@ChampooPapi @AlviesMam, I've felt quite a bit of movement now and I've got no pain etc so don't really have a reason to phone them to be seen.
I'm booked in for monitoring tomorrow afternoon at the hospital, after my weekly bloods with community midwife but if anything changes before then I'll phone triage.

@AlviesMam, from reading online you can stay at 1-2cm for weeks 😲
