@DSP21 I used an old Tupperware pot! Just washed it with fairy and boiling water first. But I had to wrap it in foil because I couldn't bare to look at it!

chloxhunt · 03/09/2020 12:04

@MrsAndMrs that's so bad! I had my risk assessment on my first day back and they've told me all these things I'm not allowed to do even though I'm sure when someone else was pregnant they did some of that stuff but it might be because I have a heart condition too

Taylortyler · 03/09/2020 12:05

@chloxhunt I appreciate that we need to take precautions for people who are high risk it just bugs me that some areas they don't care about it and others they do- it should be a nationwide ruling not a postcode lottery

chloxhunt · 03/09/2020 12:07

@Taylortyler yeah I know i 100% agree with that but I guess it's done on where has had the most cases but I'm going to a hospital which specialise in pregnancy's which heart condition and they might be allowing partners to come in to 20 week scans only which is odd in my opinion

Taylortyler · 03/09/2020 12:07

@Sussexbysea the stats are terrifying my mother-in-law and sister both got tested but both were negative... you just never know who's going to get it

chloxhunt · 03/09/2020 12:11

@Taylortyler doesn't help the fact that if someone's already dying and they catch covid then they die they will say they died of covid even when they didn't it's ridiculous

ChilternsHan · 03/09/2020 12:15

@Sussexbysea Yes I had to give a sample as I hadn't had any face to face appointments by then, but was able to do it while there.

@DSP21 They had a basket full of sample pots on the reception as I went in...can't imagine turning up with a Tupperware of wee! Perhaps give the reception where your scan is a call to check.

spierse · 03/09/2020 12:23

@JTB123 @DSP21 I'm in the same boat, lmp puts me at 29th of March, not had any scans yet so no indicative dating, my scan is on the 14th at 11:30

DSP21 · 03/09/2020 12:24

@JTB123 @spierse there's a few of us late March babies!

ValidUser · 03/09/2020 12:28

I'm due the 29th too.

spierse · 03/09/2020 12:32

@Taylortyler know where you are coming from, its very inconsistent in this country, in the rest of Europe government is very clear on the rules, there is no wishy washy "follow them if you can approach" and everyone respects them (we spent last 4 months in Portugal and it was just so straightforward there)
I'm not worried about dying from covid, however normal flu is a risk to pregnancy and this is a strain of flu we still know very little about so I don't think its worth taking chances given we don't know the long term implications it may have on our health or that of the child. I totally get that people are upset about their partners not being there but I just remind myself that my mother and her generation did it all alone, my father wasn't even there for the births of any of my sisters!! I had to do my last 12 week scan alone as my husband was travelling for work and unfortunately it wasn't a good outcome for me that time, so I know exactly how challenging it is to be completely alone whilst doing the scan, when I look back I'm actually glad he wasn't there as I don't think he would have dealt with it well and it allowed me the time to just reflect on myself rather than being worried about how upset he was. But everyone views these things differently so I appreciate people her will have an opposing view to mine ❤

Mrs1989 · 03/09/2020 13:02
@Mrs1989 ahh we must not be too far apart, I'm 10+5 today. Glad to know it's not just me and all is well with you and baby. Hopefully if the scan goes well it'll make me feel less anxious for 12 weeks, I can't imagine getting to 12 weeks to be told baby hadn't gone past 8 weeks or so, I'd feel so horrible for being happy and excited all that time. It sounds like it happens all too often though which is why I couldn't help booking a priv scan!
@DSP21 yes, I’m 10+5 today going by the measurements at my private scan and I’ll be 12+2 at my NHS one. Keeping fingers crossed for your private scan and hope it will help you to feel better about your next scan. Although I will always be a worrier, it did help me to know there is a baby in the right place! We also decided to purchase a short video because baby was wriggling a fair bit and I wanted to have that, whatever happens. I’ve only continued feeling queasy at odd moments and gagging when I brush my teeth. I’ve noticed I have more of a tolerance now for sweet foods, was completely off them before. Absolutely zilch has happened with my boobs, but that is the story of my life 😂

@chloxhunt I agree, I would have been petrified just sticking with the 12 week scan. I am glad I held off for a bit and had the private one just shy of 10 weeks because even just a couple of weeks between the two is feeling like an age 😩 xxx

chloxhunt · 03/09/2020 13:26

@Mrs1989 yeah right! I had two 10 days after each other lol i had reasons for having them though and now i only have to wait till next Friday

Phie04 · 03/09/2020 13:32

Hi all tried to catch up but its impossible lol! Hope the scans go well today for those having them!

I had my bloods done Tuesday and has come back anaemic!!! My last blood test in July showed low ferritin so was told to just take pregnacare as there should be enough iron. Clearly not as now I've got a prescription. No wonder I've been feeling so tired and had high blood pressure! Was walking around yesterday and kept getting heart palps at least now I know the culprit. Also got checked for gestational diabetes as my BMI was just scraping over 30. They put it down to me being quite tall but lets wait and see!

EmzG20 · 03/09/2020 13:36

Good luck to all who have scans today.
I feel a bit emotional today, I've got my 12 week scan Tuesday then my 4 year old starts school on Wednesday. Need to occupy my brain for a few days.
Thanks to all you guys though it really helps being able to talk. I'm from Northamptonshire

aureliacecilia · 03/09/2020 13:47

Good luck @EmzG20 - my 4 year old also starts school on Wednesday! My scan was meant to be on the Thursday but the slot they offered was right in the middle of the school run so I've got to wait until the following Tuesday. Nice to meet someone with a similar age gap to what we'll have!

Hope all is well @Mercuryfreddie and @Sussexbysea. Thinking of you both.

Mercuryfreddie · 03/09/2020 13:55

Thanks for all the lovely messages everyone Smile. Scan went great, baby measuring 10+3 with a strong heartbeat. They couldn't find any obvious cause for the bleeding but I haven't had any bleeding today so hopefully was just once of those things. Hardly slept at all last night so going to try and catch up on some sleep. Feeling so relieved and wish everyone luck with any upcoming scans Smile

chloxhunt · 03/09/2020 13:56

Has anyone tried 4head? It doesn't seem to be helping for me at all

DSP21 · 03/09/2020 13:58

@Mercuryfreddie so happy for you and relieved to get good news!!

chloxhunt · 03/09/2020 14:01

@Mercuryfreddie the same thing happened to me! It's weird isn't it

Phie04 · 03/09/2020 14:01

@Mercuryfreddie thats great news! Yes catch up on sleep and let your body do its job. So pleased for you

Babafarmer · 03/09/2020 14:02

Fab news @Mercuryfreddie

NoGinNotComingIn · 03/09/2020 14:02

I had my 4 year old start reception and my 3 year old start nursery yesterday, thought I'd be emotional but wasn't at all! Breezed through it, helps my youngest was just moving up from the nursery so not much change, plus they aren't shy/clingy children so they walked in no probs, didn't even look back at me! Much better than clinging onto your leg anyway!!

chloxhunt · 03/09/2020 14:03

@Phie04 aw I'm sorry to hear that at least you can take stuff for it! Maybe that's why i keep get heart palpitations? I have a heart condition so it could be to do with that but I don't know if it is as i sometimes get them around my period so I'm thinking it's hormone related

MrsAndMrs · 03/09/2020 14:04

@Mercuryfreddie chuffed you had a good scan today! You must feel a huge sigh of relief!

All this worrying never ends, I had a lovely 11wk scan and I'm still nervous for my hospital 12 week scan on Monday! 🙈
