@Sussexbysea I've been on edge since the 7th of June, when I started my injections for IVF. I so, so get the terror. On top of it, I'm a doctor and know every little thing that can go wrong and it's torture.

I'm normally so laid back, but not about this.

Sussexbysea · 02/09/2020 16:01

@DSP21 @holb54 I’ve totally avoided google and any other threads on Mumsnet. I even considered unfollowing this thread at one point and there were two mums whose baby didn’t make it. I’m on so many tablets and I’m so worried that they are having an effect on my little one.

The best way I distract myself is to sleep. Sometimes I’m in bed by 8 just so I can sleep and not think about it.

ValidUser · 02/09/2020 16:02

@SnickerdoodleSnek thank you!

@chloxhunt I had sausage rolls. I usually hate pork and I'm more of a porridge woman, but this baby wants sausage rolls and (pasteurised, non-machine) milkshakes!

DSP21 · 02/09/2020 16:07

@Sussexbysea I wish I had your restraint, i'm my own worst enemy right now. Especially with the mums on this thread whose little ones didn't make it, it drove my anxiety through the roof. It's so sad but I too look forward to the end of the day just so i can stop worrying (and one step closer to the scan). Once I get news I can deal with it one way or another, it's the waiting and wondering that's killing me

How did our mums, grandma's and ancestors deal with this without all the technology and scans we have now days?!

ChilternsHan · 02/09/2020 16:09

@DSP21 I also spent time researching the negative outcomes and the chances of a missed miscarriage, other issues etc. I like to be prepared, and I ended up really only preparing myself for the worst outcome.

I tried to keep reminding myself that when the %s are not even in double figures, it means that more than 90% of the time it all goes well. It's really difficult to flip your brain round to this way of thinking though, especially when already very anxious and waiting for the unknown.

@Sussexbysea What time is your scan tomorrow?

chloxhunt · 02/09/2020 16:11

@ValidUser haha really? I haven't really craved anything yet tbh 😂

DSP21 · 02/09/2020 16:14

@ChilternsHan that's soo true. It's so hard when you've read stories of mmc after detecting a healthy heartbeat, no reason or way of knowing why.

I need to re-wire my brain, what if all this negative thinking affects the baby!

I just keep thinking that all those mums out there that boozed and drugged their way through pregnancy and had healthy babies, and here's me thinking I didn't drink enough water today so maybe it's my fault if something happens 😩

Sussexbysea · 02/09/2020 16:18

@DSP21 It’s 12 tomorrow.

@ChilternsHan I’ve done everything by the book, apart from the odd takeaway here and there when it was all I could eat.

ValidUser · 02/09/2020 16:18

@DSP21 if worrying harmed the baby, anyone who ever lost a pregnancy would have horrible pregnancy outcomes afterwards. The best advice ever passed to me was stop worrying about worrying during this whole process. It only serves to increase the overall worry. And worrying is completely natural and normal to a point. Easier said than done, but allowing myself to worry has definitely decreased my overall worry!

spierse · 02/09/2020 16:20

@Sussexbysea I'm Irish originally from Dublin but living in central London for last 16 years so consider myself a londonder now 😁
@ChilternsHan worrying is so annoying, I have had an MMC and a "normal" miscarriage but both times no heartbeat had been detected at an early scan. I haven't had any scans this time and we are just waiting for the 12 week scan, i am 11+2 now and my scan is booked for the 14th of September

chloxhunt · 02/09/2020 16:21

@DSP21 I'm the same if I haven't drunk enough water too lol

DSP21 · 02/09/2020 16:22

@ValidUser the amount you used the word 'worry' in that post basically sums up all our worries 😂

ValidUser · 02/09/2020 16:23

@DSP21 yep! 😂

holb54 · 02/09/2020 16:27

@Sussexbysea I know what you mean, hearing the girls bad news on this made me want to step back as well. You're so close to your scan tomorrow, just keep thinking you've just tonight to get through 💕

Sussexbysea · 02/09/2020 16:28

Ladies, maybe once we’ve all had our scans, shall we make our very own Facebook group? It’d be lovely to keep in touch with you all.

Sussexbysea · 02/09/2020 16:29

@holb54 thank you lovely 💗 I’m sure everything will be ok, it’s just the unknown.xx

spierse · 02/09/2020 16:29

just to clarify that was my attempt at reassurance! Basically in both of my miscarriages I had never had a heartbeat, first one which was an MMC I did a viability scan that said it was uncertain as no heartbeat, and we never went back for the follow up and instead waited for 12 week where I was told MMC. 2nd time I had severe pain (it ripped through me) and heavy bleeding at 8 weeks and had a "normal" miscarriage. I had also been on depo provera for 18 years so I don't think my body was quite ready for pregnancy.....let's hope all good for me this time 🤞

holb54 · 02/09/2020 16:31

@spierse nice to have another Dublin girl here too! Grin

holb54 · 02/09/2020 16:33

@Sussexbysea that'd be a lovely idea 💜 no problem at all xx

chloxhunt · 02/09/2020 16:39

@Sussexbysea that's a good idea!

spierse · 02/09/2020 16:40

@holb54 😁😁😁

@sussexbysea deff up for a Facebook group

ChubbyMumFromSkye · 02/09/2020 16:52

Sure! @Sussexbysea 😊

BatKat · 02/09/2020 17:38

Hi everyone! I hope all of your pregnancies have been progressing smoothly. I have been absent from here over the last few weeks... After complaining about having zero pregnancy symptoms I have been floored by nausea for the last few weeks, to the point where even looking at my phone is a struggle - be careful what you wish for! The good news is that I had an early scan this morning and was dated at 10+3 and everything looked fine. I had a small bit of bleeding at around 9 weeks and they think they found the reason for that too which was reassuring.

My ‘12 week scan’ isn’t until I’ll be over 13 weeks so I’m pleased we had the private scan and we’re intending to tell immediate family soon which is exciting. We’re not quite sure how to go about it - would love to tell everyone together in person but with social distancing that isn’t going to happen.

I would be keen for a Facebook group post 12 week scans :)

holb54 · 02/09/2020 17:44

@BatKat congrats on your scan, glad you got that reassurance 💞 sorry to hear about the nausea though, that sounds awful bad!

TheFoz · 02/09/2020 18:16

Here’s my little jelly bean after my 12 week scan today, measuring one day ahead but sonographer said they would use my dates. Everything as it should be and heartbeat within normal range. Very happy, though tired, mama bear this evening!
I hope everyone else who has scans today went well.
