@Sussexbysea I've had 3 scans already and a 4th today. Obstetric clinic on the 18th.

Our dates are exact because of egg collection, so apparently my EDD is the 29th of March and that won't change. 10+1 today. Just hoping all is well in there!

Phie04 · 01/09/2020 12:37

Scan didn't go so well. Baby is alive and bouncing around but because of not having a full bladder, then having too much if a full bladder despite emptying it 3 times they couldn't get a clear enough picture so going back next Tuesday. Saw the flickering heartbeat and the legs! Had to wriggle around because baby was head down - very strange seeing it move around to the correct position. Had bloods done etc but just got to wait another 7 painful days for the measurements etc.

Got a picture though. Keep saying they have a big head (as they do at this stage) and OH is getting offended 😂😂

@Phie04 I'm worried about this happening too! My letter says to empty my bladder 1 hour before then drink 1/2 pint of water which doesn't seem much?
Glad you were able to at least find out that baby is alive and bouncing, hopefully all goes well next week for you.

Phie04 · 01/09/2020 12:45

@Wren1986 I would drink a whole pint because I only had 1 glass of water this morning and they said it wasn't enough. She said next time empty bladder then start drinking a pint an hour before. I wish they had given me these instructions before today!

Sussexbysea · 01/09/2020 12:47

@Phie04 that sounds like a brilliant scan, not a bad one. You got to see baby and know all is well. That’s great news. And what’s even better, you get another look at baby next week

Phie04 · 01/09/2020 12:49

@Sussexbysea this is very true!! I just hope they can see more and don't have the same troubles. The midwife really hurt me as she was pressing it in so hard! Never felt pain like it

MrsAndMrs · 01/09/2020 12:52

@Phie04 what a lovely scan photo!

I've been waiting patiently for everyone's scans today! 😂

When I got my 11wk scan, the sonographer told me to empty my bladder because baby was hiding behind my very full bladder! 😂 I was told a pint of water for my hospital scan next week so we'll see what their preferences are. At least if I've drunk enough, I can empty it if they need me to!

ChilternsHan · 01/09/2020 13:04

@Phie04 That's good that you got to see the little one moving around! Sorry to hear it was so painful though.

I've been drinking water all morning as usual (probably around 3 pints so far, maybe a little more), and had planned to have a half pint before leaving and a further half in the car (we'll be leaving pretty much exactly an hour before). My letter says to make sure to have a pint of water an hour before, but not sure if it matters what I've had before that!

Aurora124 · 01/09/2020 13:06

@Phie04 what a beautiful scan picture. Has anyone heard of the scull theory? Its a load of nonsense but i'd guess it's a girl looking at your scan picture.

NoGinNotComingIn · 01/09/2020 13:15

@Aurora124 yes I have, although I only came across it when I had my scan for this pregnancy a couple of weeks ago. I dug out the scan pics of my 2 other children (A girl and a boy) and it does appear to work from their scans. We don’t find out the sex until the birth anyway so it makes no difference to us just a bit of fun. My husband did say to me “for god sake if you want to find out just find out”, I won’t but I like to guess!

Aurora124 · 01/09/2020 13:18

Grin @NoGinNotComingIn I'm the same! We don't find out until the birth but love to look at signs of what it could be!

Babafarmer · 01/09/2020 13:20

@Phie04 congratulations on your scan. But I can also imagine your disappointment of not getting measurements. My letter gives no instructions. I've just drank a pint but I am a budgie bladder so I'll be bursting is the appointment isn't on time xx

NoGinNotComingIn · 01/09/2020 13:26

Yep playing “guess the sex” lol! I usually go through phases of thinking it’s one thing and then thinking it’s the other! I had a strong feeling the first was a girl though, when we drove to the hospital to have her I remember saying to my husband on the way “we only have a girls name, what if it’s a boy?” He replied “it’s a girl” (he didn’t actually know). Second baby I thought boy for most of it then towards the end I thought girl, was quite surprised he was a boy. We didn’t have any names picked as we couldn’t agree on anything (my husband is so fussy! Like he wouldn’t have Henry as he’s the miserable engine off Thomas the tank, plus our surname ends in a “y” and we can’t have two y’s 🤣 etc etc! George was out as he’s a pink hippo on rainbow, I could go on...) so he spent half a week no name lol.

LottieDot · 01/09/2020 14:48

@Phie04 Aw at least you get to see baby twice! Its so hard knowing how much to drink, the line between too much and not enough seems very small haha.

Babafarmer · 01/09/2020 15:14

Scan was fine. Dated 3 days ahead so now 12+6 due 10th March. Any gender guesses.

Babafarmer · 01/09/2020 15:25

Here's the new photos now I've removed my name 🤦‍♀️

@Babafarmer I think it's a girl

Phie04 · 01/09/2020 15:42

@Aurora124 a girl really thats exciting! Never heard of the skull theory how does it work?

@Babafarmer I am exactly the same. Drank a pint in the waiting room and almost wet myself when she was pressing on my belly! and WOW your scan pictures are amazing! glad it went ok. You can rest easy now! X

Sussexbysea · 01/09/2020 15:47

@Babafarmer amazing, congrats lovely. Xx

spierse · 01/09/2020 16:04

@Babafarmer and @Phie04 congratulations on the scans great pics. I have until the 14th to wait for mine, super nervous already

Sussexbysea · 01/09/2020 16:54

@ChilternsHan how was your scan?

ChubbyMumFromSkye · 01/09/2020 17:05

@Taylortyler good plan, they will have to be discreet for you.
That's a shame, maybe try phoning the day before the scan and just say you are double checking that things haven't changed just incase.

@Phie04 it is impossible to know exactly how much to drink, your scan pic is still lovely and you must feel reassured after seeing baby today 😊

@Babafarmer congrats on your scan too, lovely pics😊

Really looking forward to all you guys giving me your opinions on sex when I have my scan next week as we won't be finding out the sex!

Oldermum80 · 01/09/2020 17:05

@Phie04 @Babafarmer lovely scan pictures! I’ve just got back from my first day back ago work. No much social distancing going on and that’s with the grown ups....ready for bed after only five hours sleep stressing all night.

Mrs1989 · 01/09/2020 17:16

@Phie04 and @Babafarmer congratulations on your scans today. Such lovely pics 😍 I have been noting all of the advice about how much to drink for my scan on 14th! Really hoping I don’t have to wait long at the hospital - genuinely think I might wet myself 😳

Off to have a read about skull theory now...! xxx
