I've been reading about the tests and now totally wish I'd had a nipt (harmony) xx

Babafarmer · 01/09/2020 08:42

@ChilternsHan I've going to try the work distraction too but I can't imagine I'll concentrate very well xx

Sussexbysea · 01/09/2020 08:54

@Babafarmer @ChilternsHan @Phie04 today’s the day. I think Phie is first up this morning. Hope all is ok mummas xx

DSP21 · 01/09/2020 09:04

Good luck to everyone having scans! I'll be thinking of you all x

Wren1986 · 01/09/2020 09:06

I hope all goes well for those having scans today, mine is tomorrow afternoon and I hadn't been worried about it until today... For those that have them, does anyone know how long it usually takes for the screening test results to come back? I want to share the news with family if all is well tomorrow but really want to wait to make sure the tests are okay first too.

aureliacecilia · 01/09/2020 09:15

Good luck to everyone with a scan this week!

Babafarmer · 01/09/2020 09:28

@Wren1986 I have read that if you are high risk you get a phone call in 3 working days if you are low you receive a letter in two weeks. So it's a case of no news is good news.

Sussexbysea · 01/09/2020 09:39

@Wren1986 the midwives would be in touch super quick if something is wrong. Last time, I received a letter in the post about a week after my bloods. My friend who unfortunately had bad news following her bloods was called within 24 hours

Taylortyler · 01/09/2020 09:40

I had a bit of blood on Sunday evening and then it stopped so I wasn't too worried but my mother in law said I should call the midwife today and let her know. She's not in today and neither was my gp so they got the on call dr to ring me and she's arranged a scan for this Friday. I didn't think they'd be that fussed about a little blood but now I just feel super stressed and how am I going to get out of work without telling them?! My 12 week scan was booked for 10th sept and that's too long to wait apparently?! Being pregnant is just an anxiety attack for 9 months!

Wren1986 · 01/09/2020 09:47

@Sussexbysea that's good to know, I was hoping those timescales were the longest you might have to wait. I won't be able to relax until I know all is okay! I'm 34 so right on the limit of being higher risk due to age.
Very sorry to hear about your friend x

NoGinNotComingIn · 01/09/2020 09:54

I had the test (scan measurement, blood test, plus age, BMI entered into a calculator to calculate a ratio). You only get a ratio and either “high risk” or “low risk” it isn’t a diagnostic test. It took a week and a half to come in the post (Test done Tuesday and the results came the following Friday). If you are high risk you receive a phone call within a couple of days so you can decide whether to have the diagnostic test. I googled the measurement at the back of the neck lol couldn’t help myself so knew that was low, but I’m nearly 37 so anticipated that’d scew the results slightly. I was low risk though.

Csj123 · 01/09/2020 10:02

Good luck to everyone having scans today and in the coming days! x

ChubbyMumFromSkye · 01/09/2020 10:05

Morning everyone,

Hope you all had a nice weekend!

Good luck to everyone with scans today and this week, mine is a week today! 🤩

@Taylortyler it's good that they are being cautious, can you tell work you have an unexpected emergency hospital appointment so will be in late or have to leave early?

@EmzG20 hope you are ok!

Re: FaceTiming - I asked at last scan if I could do a wee video of scan screen (not the nurse & radiologist!) for DS but they were horrified and said absolutely not! 😣 going to get DH to put his camera on sneakily next week and see if he can get a wee glimpse of baby moving to show DS, we'll obviously get pics too but it's not the same as seeing baby moving and I can't understand why they were so against it when it would just have been of baby moving on the screen, nothing or no-one else 🤷🏻‍♀️

Looking forward to seeing everyone's scan pics 💞🌟

Phie04 · 01/09/2020 10:15

Thanks ladies. Still waiting as my bladder wasn't full enough so back in the waiting room with a bottle of water

Taylortyler · 01/09/2020 10:19

@ChubbyMumFromSkye I think I might just tell them I'm pregnant but just go with my direct manager and ask them to keep it quiet. I can't believe that filming the screen is so frowned upon! What I don't get is my hub can go and visit someone on a ward but can't sit in on the scan?!

Babafarmer · 01/09/2020 10:24

@Phie04

Thanks ladies. Still waiting as my bladder wasn't full enough so back in the waiting room with a bottle of water
It's so difficult to judge isn't it. I usually drink too much then I'm too uncomfortable during the scan. So going to try and drink less today.

@Wren1986 I'm 34 too and worried about the tests and results. Just wish I'd have a harmony then I would have known now anyway

Phie04 · 01/09/2020 10:28

@Babafarmer it is. I've drank it all and now I'm bursting I hope they call me in soon! She was really hurting me pushing on my stomach trying to see something so now im just uncomfortable in that area

Sussexbysea · 01/09/2020 10:30

@Wren1986 @Babafarmer I’m so worried about the blood test this time. I don’t know why. I’m on loss of medication for my thyroid and I guess that’s causing me some panic, I’m also 36 next month and have a higher BMI this time. I’m 12 weeks now and can’t relax until I know the probability of the bloods 👎🏻

NoGinNotComingIn · 01/09/2020 10:34

In many ways not letting partners in is a good thing, it means you aren’t coming into contact with as many people and also that the sonographer isn’t seeing double (or more!) the number of people day in day out in a confined space, so less likely to catch/pass the virus onto you. It was also so nice sat in an empty waiting room. I have 2 other children and the clinic the scans are normally held at are huge, there were easily 50 plus people in the waiting room when I had my other scans, you could barely get a seat for people on a family day out with their extended family. It was a bit rubbish my husband couldn’t come in but it isn’t like missing the birth, he said the same, he’d be upset at missing the birth but a scan is 10min seeing a grainy image, which you get a pic of anyway.

Sussexbysea · 01/09/2020 11:32

@Phie04 how you getting on? Xx

ValidUser · 01/09/2020 11:45

I'm in full agreement with no partners from a virus point of view, especially as I'm on steroids. From a nerves point of view (IVF baby), I want my DH there!

Sussexbysea · 01/09/2020 11:56

@ValidUser I can imagine you do. When’s your dating scan booked in for?x

holb54 · 01/09/2020 11:59

Hey girls just went to the dentist and had to get a tooth removed with a local anaesthetic, wasn't even sure what I was getting done but before I knew it he'd the needle in my gum and he said it's perfectly safe even though I'm pregnant but now I'm stressing out. What do you guys think?

JTB123 · 01/09/2020 12:01

EEEK can't wait to hear about today's scans!!

I can already feel your full bladder! Horrible feeling @Phie04 🤣

JTB123 · 01/09/2020 12:02

@holb54 I really wouldn't worry, they're the professionals and if they're telling you it's safe, it must be right? 💓
I was at the dentist this month with bad wisdom tooth pain and was concerned about the antibiotics I was put on, but they were perfectly safe! 😁
