I thought I was turning a corner with my symptoms then bang last night up four or five time being sick and today I feel awful!!! And my boobs kill. I'm 12+ 3 now so was hoping they would start to ease off.
I've been signed off for two weeks and I'm off work next week as well. I work in management in the nhs so super stressful as well as being high risk. I am really worried about having to have another 'I really don't think I can go back to work yet' chat with my dr.

I feel awful, I'm napping all the time... anybody else in a similar boat? My mums annoying me too as she had the easiest of pregnancies ever so she's sort of asking if I'm exaggerating things.

Sorry for the rant! Guess just really disappointed that I've gone backwards :(

Mrs1989 · 29/08/2020 11:10

@krj2608 I am so sorry this has happened and hope you have family and friends looking after you. It sounds like you have gone through a lot so please be kind to yourself like the other ladies have said. Sending you lots of love 💕

Mrs1989 · 29/08/2020 11:26

@ElsiesJourney sorry to hear you are having a rough time. Although I have had quite mild nausea and not actually been sick, I have been feeling pretty wiped out and napped a fair bit when I’m not working. I can’t believe how little I seem to be able to get done in a day and wonder how ladies who already have small children to look after manage it! One thing I have noticed is that the nausea I have had is so random. It comes out of nowhere - there is no rhyme or rhythm to it. Some days I feel fine and then it returns! It’s become quite apparent from reading others’ experiences on here and considering the experiences of others I know who are or have been pregnant, that every lady’s experience is unique and symptoms often seem to come and go. I am sorry your mum seems to be suggesting you may be exaggerating things - that is very unfair just based on her own experiences. I certainly don’t believe you are! Glad you have some time off work to rest and hope you may feel better over the coming weeks xxx

ElsiesJourney · 29/08/2020 11:44

@Mrs1989 thank you. My mums great 99% of the time :) just very good at replying to everything I say with 'well that didn't happen to me' 🤦🏼‍♀️ she's well intended.

I totally agree with you re: randomness. Holding on to the fact I'm managing to keep most food/ water down.

Mrs1989 · 29/08/2020 12:22

@ElsiesJourney, my mum is similar in a way, lovely and well intended but will often tell me I’m being “silly” if I’m worried about something and will make reference to her own experiences! When we all have different experiences! And when I was thinking about trying and told her about folic acid, it was all “well I didn’t have any of that and you all turned out fine”. That’s because they had not quite published the research that proved it’s important, Mum!!

That’s good you’re keeping most food and water down, keep all that goodness in! Hope you’re feeling better soon xxx

Just checking in. 9+5 today and next scan Tuesday. Sending off my NIPT bloods next week.

@krj2608 I'm so sorry for your loss. x

Anyone else's ears keep needing to be popped? Driving me crazy

I am sorry you are feeling so rough, I completely understand had HG with my son and have been sick several times a day this time too.

I am a teacher and dreading the return on Tuesday as no idea how I am going to get through the day.

It is def one of those things everyone has an opinion on. I remember people suggesting I was over reacting and it just made me feel awful.
If they haven’t experienced it they don’t understand, every pregnancy is different and only you can know how much you are or are not Capable of each day.

I have had days where I haven’t managed to get out of bed and just slept. Others I am okay being up and about but not particularly productive.

I hope you start to get some relief soon.

PhotoMum4 · 29/08/2020 15:40

Scan today showed a healthy baby, so relieved.
Still terrified something will happen but know odds are much improved now. LMP would be 10+6 but measured 11+2 which is also good.

@Sussexbysea haha yes 2nd not 3rd! Baby brain kicking in already!

Oldermum80 · 29/08/2020 16:13

@PhotoMum4 I am a teacher too and desperate for some routine and a focus but also worried about tiredness, social distancing with a class of small children (and staff) and I’ve just been sick today so hoping it’s not the start of late MS for me! I haven’t told school yet and I’ll be 10+4 when I return.

Mrs1989 · 29/08/2020 16:34

@PhotoMum4 lovely scan pic 💕 Glad it all went well and hope you are feeling more reassured now xxx

Bearcub01 · 29/08/2020 16:52

@ElsiesJourney I’m the same! I’ve had HG since 5 weeks. Now 10+2 and I’m on cyclizine 3 times a day, although I feel better I’m ok lying down, but as soon as I stand up I’m so weak and end up being sick. I’ve managed to upgrade from my bed to the sofa recently and started to eat a bit more but still feel pretty rubbish. I’m lucky that I’m still furloughed, thankfully got an updated email saying I’m furloughed until the end of September at least now. There is no way I could make it to work.
Nobody really understands how you feel when they’ve not been through it. I had a good couple of days this week and thought my symptoms were easing but like you they come back again. Really hope I start to feel a bit better coming upto 12 weeks! I’ve been surviving on soup which I feel helps to keep something in my stomach and hydrates me.

ElsiesJourney · 29/08/2020 17:20

@Bearcub01 don't take this the wrong way but I'm so glad to hear that you sound as bad as I do!!!! It's just awful isn't it.

I hope that yours starts to get better. I had a rocky fertility journey and this is my first so trying to hold on to positives but When people say 'try and enjoy being pregnant' I have to stop myself laughing in their faces.

Bearcub01 · 29/08/2020 17:26

@ElsiesJourney haha don’t worry! I know exactly how you feel. My cousin suffered from HG during her whole pregnancy last year and she has been absolutely amazing to talk to to get me through this. She’s the only person that really understands how bad it is and how weak and awful I feel. It’s not just sickness! I had a good cry last night and this morning because I’ve seen so many people announcing pregnancies and they’re all happy and excited, saying how they didn’t have many symptoms so I start feeling sorry for myself because I feel like I’m just trying to survive each day!!

Bearcub01 · 29/08/2020 17:28

@ElsiesJourney it is awful! This is my first too but I was really lucky and got pregnant first time. Feel like I’m being punished for catching it so easy lol!! It’s so so hard because you can’t enjoy it. This should be the most exciting time of my life, reality is it’s the most horrific experience I’ve gone through.

ElsiesJourney · 29/08/2020 17:34

@Bearcub01 one day at a time eh!!!! Xx

LottieDot · 29/08/2020 17:41

@krj2608 so sorry you are going through this, wishing you the best x

ChubbyMumFromSkye · 29/08/2020 17:44

@ElsiesJourney and @Bearcub01 you both sound so like me!
I am certain I have HG but I am not actually vomiting, "just" extreme nausea, so don't know if it is classed as HG?
I have all other symptoms and in bed 20+ hours a day because I am so ill 🤢 I can usually make it to the sitting room for an hour or 2 max.

Luckily I am on furlough too, I did go back to work PTime for a few weeks but could barely manage the 3 hours a day, I would have to go back to bed after DS went to school until half an hour before work and then straight back to bed.

We (me, DH and DS) live with my parents while we save to build in 2-3 years - it's a big enough house that we all have our own space, most of the time! 😂 so I am really lucky that when DH is at work, my parents are around for DS as I just cannot function at all.

Lovely scan @PhotoMum4 ☺️💞🌟 mine is a week Monday, so excited.

LottieDot · 29/08/2020 17:44

Congrats everyone on your lovely scans!

I had a private one today at 9+5 and saw a lovely wriggly baby it was amazing! Was very scary at the start as it took her a while to find it! I think I have a tilted uterus though so suspect that might be why. She also mentioned she thought she saw a polyp but then went back on that so Im not going to worry as hopefully my NHS scan will confirm if they see it or not. Main thing is baby is OK and measuring slightly ahead Smile

aureliacecilia · 29/08/2020 17:46

Lovely scan picture @PhotoMum4

ElsiesJourney · 29/08/2020 17:58

@ChubbyMumFromSkye I'm similar only been physically sick a few times but constant nausea, light headedness and I'm sleeping just as much as that! It will be worth it Smile

ChubbyMumFromSkye · 29/08/2020 18:01

@ElsiesJourney It will be worth it in the end but it's definitely very hard to get through day to day. A few people have said to me they turned a corner at 16 or 18 weeks, it's a little ray of hope! 💞

PhotoMum4 · 29/08/2020 18:04

For those suffering with sickness, I found this article really useful as it just made me feel less alone/useless.
I made my husband and mum read it too as it backed up what I was saying.

Bearcub01 · 29/08/2020 18:07

@ChubbyMumFromSkye it probably is, how far along are you? I started like that, just nauseous all day like a bad hangover, I couldn’t get out of bed. Then it got worse and I was sick everyday then one day it got so bad I was throwing up every 10mins or so and ended up in hospital for a few days. Truly awful! Definitely got to take it one day at a time.
