@HollieL567 sorry for your other losses, must have been awful hard on you 💓 would it be possible for you to get a private scan to maybe put your mind at ease?

ChubbyMumFromSkye · 27/08/2020 19:05

@LuHen wow that is a very long journey, so glad you enjoyed it! Harris and the beaches is like being in the Caribbean (when it's sunny!!! 😂)
Aww we were supposed to get married on 3rd April but could feel a lockdown coming so phoned the registrar and managed to get married on 23rd March - the day the lockdown began!
What a nice surprise to get at a rubbish time cancelling your wedding! 🌟

@HollieL567 ohhh I am so sorry to hear that, how awful for you and no wonder you are anxious, be good to yourself and take it easy. Good luck for your scan 💞🌟

Csj123 · 27/08/2020 19:08

@LuHen I've opted for a home birth too, all being well for me and baby of course. My first birth was a relatively easy and fast water birth in local MLU so I'm a good candidate for home birth this time around. And as you say it means all appts at home apart from the scans which I'm grateful for at the moment!
Finally got my scan date through today and its scheduled for the 4th Sept, can't wait!
Congrats to all those who've had scans the last couple of days, so nice to see the pics!
Welcome @HollieL567, sorry to hear you've had such a tough time, bound to make you super anxious but hang in there and hopefully this is the one, x

Jebbs · 27/08/2020 19:09

@BlenheimOrange not caught up yet but it you want to give the other fb group a go pm me your Facebook and I'll see if I can add you. Need to be friends on fb to do so but can delete right after.

Sussexbysea · 27/08/2020 19:10

Is anyone else being scanned on 3rd September? My EDD at the moment is 15th March but I guess that may change by a day or so next week

Jebbs · 27/08/2020 19:26

@NotThatKindOfDoctor ooo, someone else in France! Im living in the loire valley Smile

LuHen · 27/08/2020 19:52

@holb54 yes although I change my mind like the wind haha! I've had quite a few friends who have recently gone through some heartache and it makes me think about the risks of being away from hospital as well - tricky decisions. It probably feels like being with family if you work there - fab! Smile

@HollieL567 so sorry you've had to go through all those really difficult times. I find it helps to share your journey and you will get nothing but support here Smile appreciate not everyone feels that way! Keeping everything crossed for you to have a positive outcome.

@Csj123 oh yay, home birth buddy! Are you hoping for a pool or anything like that at home? Not even sure what the other options are - the sofa? Haha! My next choice was a MLU as I'm really keen to create a lovely environment with dim lights, candles and music. Sounds like some sort of date night Blush

@Sussexbysea I'm due the day after you at the moment! Eek! Awaiting my scan date now as just had my booking in apt yesterday. You must be excited now you have a date!

HollieL567 · 27/08/2020 20:03

*@LuHen Thankyou! I have definitely found that being open and talking about everything that happened totally helped me so I'm all for that!
Fingers crossed everything works out this time and we finally get our longed for baba! My scan is on the 16th sept and I will be roughly over 12 weeks by that stage 💕

spierse · 27/08/2020 21:36

@HollieL567 right there with you on this, I'm 10 weeks and have lost my last 2 pregnancies, too scared to get an early scan so waiting for the 12 weeks but dreading that also as my first pregnancy was a MMC, stay strong

chloxhunt · 27/08/2020 22:05

I haven't gone off of sweets I'm just going off of savoury but everytime i crave something it's savoury 😂

HollieL567 · 27/08/2020 22:12

@spierse awww so sorry to you also. It really does make it such a worrying time for us and really takes the enjoyment out of it! Because of my previous ectopic I had to have early scans, my first wasn't good but then my second one at 7 weeks they said I was measuring 6+2 and they saw heartbeat which was great but I think because we have been here before it doesn't make us relax any more. Keeping everything crossed for us 🤞🏻xx

Csj123 · 27/08/2020 23:20

@LuHen yes I'll definitely be getting a pool as I found it so good last time, though I've no idea of the logistics of getting one yet or where we'd put it etc! I'll worry about that further down the line and imagine there are lots of old threads on here with tips!
Haha yes it's all about creating a lovely calm environment Smile
I also really like the idea of being able to use my own shower and get straight into my bed after!

LuHen · 28/08/2020 07:23

@Csj123 Me too - very excited at the thought of being in water Smile

Is anyone thinking about cloth / reusable nappies? Oh my gosh it's a minefield!

Charlotte2020 · 28/08/2020 08:59

@LuHen I've been looking at reusable nappies, decided against them as I have no tumble dryer and I'd be hanging them everywhere to dry! Plus the cost of constantly washing them on a high heat, I'm not sure how much I'd actually save. I was keen to use them for the environmental factor. But I'm going to have to be selfish I think and go with disposable- more convenient especially when they are newborn!

Sussexbysea · 28/08/2020 09:07

@LuHen @Charlotte2020 I might go for reusable wipes. There’s a brand called cheeky wipes which get great reviews

aureliacecilia · 28/08/2020 09:38

Cheeky Wipes are good.

I recommend Babi Pur and The Nappy Lady for nappies. Have ordered from both and they also have very good Facebook groups. I only used cloth nappies occasionally with DS for a variety of reasons but we really got on well with the Cheeky Wipes which were so easy. You could just use cheap Flannels from Primark though - there's nothing particularly special about the Cheeky Wipes although the storage system is good (again, tupperware would work for this).

Happy to also recommend Bloom and Nora cloth menstrual pads if you want to give them a go for lochia.

aureliacecilia · 28/08/2020 09:39

@Charlotte2020 Not personal experience but if you are concerned about the environment and want to use disposables then look at Naty and other eco brands. I think they sell some in Boots and Waitrose.

Wren1986 · 28/08/2020 09:43

I've been reading up as I'd like to use mainly cloth/reusable nappies and don't have a tumble dryer, apparently the pocket type are best as they separate out for line drying. Most nappies sold as 'eco' or biodegradable actually don't do so in a landfill and councils won't compost them so there's not much benefit that I can see?

Csj123 · 28/08/2020 09:46

@LuHen I use cloth nappies and wipes with DS1 who is nearly 16 months (to save cost made the wipes by cutting up a towel into squares and hemming). Get on really well with them and would recommend giving them a go. We only started when he was 6 months as felt a bit overwhelmed before that but the amount of waste was really getting to me, but it was also a bit easier at that age as with weaning the poop firms up and is easier to deal with! Most areas have local nappy librarys where you can trial a variety of sorts for a cpl of weeks to see how you get on and what sort/brand you prefer before you invest. Also like the Nappy Lady site and the facebook groups are good!

Calgoose · 28/08/2020 10:01

Hi ladies! Hope you don’t mind me joining you. I’m currently 10+4 due 22/3/21 by both my dates and an early scan we had the other day. Previously had two miscarriages earlier this year so my anxiety is all over the place but the scan at least has reassured me for now! I’d had another early scan at 6+5 and it’s amazing how much they have grown in that time!

This will be mine and my OH’s first (and only!) baby although I have two older who are 13 and 11. I’ve seen some chat about home births - I had a home water birth with my second so happy to share any advice/experience for anyone considering that!

It feels like a long time since I’ve done all of this (I’m 36 now and just loving being called geriatric Hmm) so looking forward to sharing the next stages with you all!

Charlotte2020 · 28/08/2020 10:07

@Wren1986 that's what I've read as well. My council don't collect eco nappies, so I'll be spending a lot more and they'll still go to landfill. It's annoying as they are a really good idea!

Charlotte2020 · 28/08/2020 10:13

I might look into reusable nappies when baby is a bit older and not using so many a day. I'll see how I cope as it's my first- the fantasy is having a newborn that sleeps through the night and my house stays immaculate... something tells me the reality might be a tad different 🤣

DSP21 · 28/08/2020 10:19

Hey mums-to-be! Has anyone ever had hives whilst pregnant? It started happening a couple of weeks ago, they pop up in random places for 24 hours then disappear. A new one each day, they get quite red and swollen and a bit sore, gp doesn't seem to think it's anything to worry about

TheFoz · 28/08/2020 10:29

@Sussexbysea I have my scan on September 2nd, I’m due on March 12th going by LMP. Partners all aren’t allowed in where I am so that’s disappointing.
Nausea seems to have eased in the last day or so so maybe I’m over the worst of it now. 12 weeks today!

holb54 · 28/08/2020 10:48

@Calgoose sorry to hear of your two losses this year but congrats on your scans 💕 ridiculous to think 36 is called geriatric 🙄
