Hey girls,

I've been MIA on here for a good few weeks, I've just scanned through this thread, glad everyone is doing ok.

I'm feeling very pregnant now but happy enough. 34 weeks, sickness is back sporadically and suffering with lightening crotch. 🤦🏼‍♀️
A lot of my friends have had there babies over the past month or so, so it's starting to feel real now.

I've sorted all baby clothes into piles so will wash them this week and see what else I may need.
Also in the middle of getting the hospital bag ready, I ordered aloe Vera and witch hazel to make my own frozen padiscles 🤣 let's see how they work out.

I have a growth scan tomorrow to check how big he is, because he's been measuring big so my doctor mentioned potential induction, also still have the excess fluid but I've been working on my diet and exercise so I hope the pools have reduced.

I don't start mat leave till 1st of October but I wish it was sooner, really need a break before, my manager is still laying the work on thick and heavy 😤.

Xxxx

Quiffy · 25/08/2020 07:53

@LexiM what a strange thing to say about girls vs boys breastfeeding! I was also nearly 9lbs and I'd lost weight inside as I was so late. Came out like a long-limbed yellow gollum. I dont have many first days photos hehe

@MrsK89 Strange sounds unsettling - like body or feelings? Hope you're okay

blankiesandunicorns · 25/08/2020 07:54

Hi @Aquablue1123 glad you're doing well. I'm having growth scans as baby measuring big too. Also the lightening crotch is awful, I had it last night and thought the baby was going to fall out of me. I don't remember getting it this bad with my DD but apparently it's normal for a second pregnancy.

Aquablue1123 · 25/08/2020 08:30

Thanks @Quiffy 😬 I look forward to seeing him or parts of him on the screen! Ha

Still struggling for names by the way! We've narrowed it down to 6 ... haha my top name is my friends dogs name haha but I really really like it, DH is not keen at all because of the dog name scenario. I've warned all friends now that they can only call new pups .. spot, fluffy, patch or something to that effect in the future 🤣.

@blankiesandunicorns 🤣🤣 I know! It's a strange feeling, I normally get it if I've been sat down for a while so then I end up walking around like a backward L for a while.

Quiffy · 25/08/2020 08:49

@Aquablue1123 If he's anything like my boy the only parts he wanted to flash were dangly bits hehe. Can say with quite a certainty that he's still a boy. DH was very proud, men are odd.

I'd probably still go with the same name as dog - it's so hard though!

MsSian93 · 25/08/2020 08:59

Hi ladies,

I'm still here lurking and keeping up with the thread! I'm 35 weeks and can completely sympathise with the uncomfortable feeling,i seem to have lost the ability to sleep through the night.

I had my last growth scan yesterday and saw my consultant for the last time. I'm booked in for an induction on September 19th because of the gestational diabetes and high blood pressure. This could be moved forward if things change with my levels and i keep having traces of protein in my urine each week so hoping to keep pre eclampsia at bay. It's totally mad that it could be only 3 and a bit weeks until he's here - i feel so unprepared still!

Sorry to see a couple of other ladies have developed GD too. I've been dealing with it now for 11 weeks and on metformin and insulin so if you have any questions feel free to ask!

LexiM · 25/08/2020 10:25

@MsSian93 sorry things are a bit complex for you but how exciting you might be meeting your baby really soon! I hope the levels stay low for you. I will be so jealous and impatient once babies start arriving in this group.

@Aquablue1123 my husband said quite a few names I liked sounded like dog names, I would still go for them! I'm sure once baby is here you will just know which one is the right name.

@blankiesandunicorns hope the scans are going well. Totally know what you mean about that feeling like baby is going to fall out, sometimes mine feels like hes lying all down the bottom of the bump pushing down. Tricks me into thinking hes not breech anymore then I feel the head pop up near my ribs a few hours later.

@Spark27 lovely news about your cousin she must be thrilled and I hope it all goes well for her.

@Quiffy Haha my friend said the other day when her baby came out she just thought wow you look like a frog... what happened to thinking your baby was beautiful no matter what they look like 😂

Silly FTM question - do you put a sheet on the pram carrycot mattress same as the overnight crib? I was going to put a muslin up the head end as its easy to change but do most of you put a sheet under that too? Wow I am clueless! Just sorting all the baby stuff i have shoved in the nursery. My mum has kindly got us a mattress for the big cot but I said she needs to keep it until I make room as there is stuff everywhere. I dont want to bring anything downstairs until much nearer the time/baby is here so for now lots will have to just stay there.

In other good news the ensuite bathroom decorating is pretty much finished, well as much as I can be bothered. Only taken me months to do haha. I kept putting it off after starting and finding it such hard work.

Alana1984 · 25/08/2020 10:53

@Aquablue1123 names are so hard! We've picked one but every week we rethink it 😆

@NWnature I got a link from nct for dads which is the most useful I found, we're an hour from the hospital so have a similar dilemma,we want to leave as late as possible without risking a roadside delivery! padlet-uploads.storage.googleapis.com/376861153/4ffb9caf6396942c527a5e0705719a6b/dads_labour_timeline.pdf

We're 34 weeks tomorrow, consultant scan Thursday. Its really weird, he's been facing the right for weeks, proper wiggler especially in the evenings- now he's facing inwards and his kicks feel more subtle and lower down. Is he getting himself ready? It's so hard to know what's normal when it's your first!

Treacle81 · 25/08/2020 11:45

Morning girls, I actually had a much better sleep last night and baby must have moved as feel much lighter than I did yest, feels good. Really needed it. @BntTowers the safari will look incredible! @Quiffy hope a lot gets done in your home today! @Aquablue1123 my first son is called Zak and my aunt was like oh isnt that a dog's name and I quite like the sound of another 'dog name' for this baby lol. @LexiM yea you get pram sheets for the carrycot xx

Spark27 · 25/08/2020 12:56

I'm so jealous @Treacle81. I had a terrible night. Probably managed about 3hrs sleep. Woke up needing the loo and baby was moving so much it was really painful. She was at it for ages. Ended up on the work laptop at 0400 as I was so awake. Sent my boss some emails though, so it means I can have a lazy day today.

It's up to you @LexiM if you want to use a cot sheet or muslin. If my moses basket sheets fit I'll use one of those, if not I'll use a large muslin. Saves buying other sheets. Its handy if/when baby spits up or throws up in the cot.

MrsK89 · 25/08/2020 13:35

@Quiffy I just feel sad, like a sinking feeling in my stomach. Not sure what's going on, maybe tired. DD has a cold and was up till half 4 sneezing and coughing, so don't think that helped.

@MsSian93 ahh must feel wierd knowing when you will see your baby, good luck for your induction!

Treaclepie19 · 25/08/2020 13:52

I'll be using a moses basket sheet and muslin on the pram mattress @LexiM. Plenty of protection after ds1 was such a sicky baby 🙈

booroo · 25/08/2020 13:57

I feel for anybody struggling with sleep,My sleep is ok unless the dog or dd wakes me up and then that's it I'm awake for hours 😭 Cannot wait to sleep on my stomach!!

Just had a 34 week midwife appointment (at 35 weeks lol) and have now got to go for growth scans every 2 weeks until delivery, apparently should have been since 30 Weeks as had a dainty one last time and had growth scans and looks like this one is following the same pattern anybody else having growth scans for a little one?
Will be nice to see her on screen tomorrow though 🤣

And I still Haven't started my hospital bag 🙈 so need to pull my finger out soon..

MrsD1990 · 25/08/2020 14:20

Wow guys we've had the first birth in our NCT group!! Can't believe it!! Baby looks to be doing well ♥️♥️

bluemoon2468 · 25/08/2020 15:06

Just had my 34 week appointment and all is going well. Measuring above 95th percentile again (same as my 32 week appt) but they don't seem concerned as everything else is going smoothly 😕 Baby is in the perfect position for birth and head has already started to engage 👌🏻

Buzz22 · 25/08/2020 15:18

I dont have another midwife appointment till 36 weeks. Despite being a first time mum, supposedly being consultant led (havent seen consultant since 25 weeks) and higher risk. Last saw her at 32 weeks. They cancelled our 34 week appointments.
Feeling a bit stressed as I had the small bump measurement at my previous 2 appointments. My growth scan afterwards was fine but it seems a long time to go waiting to see someone again. Especially given 37 weeks is full term and they told me I'm higher risk for an early baby!
Very jealous of everyone still getting regular contact with midwife.

Quiffy · 25/08/2020 15:23

@MsSian93 that's so exciting that your induction date is approaching! Won't be long now

@LexiM a frog is so funny! Woop on getting the bathroom done - a nice tick off the list

@Treacle81 That's great on some better sleep, every minute is needed atm!

@MrsK89 Keep an eye on yourself and see how you're feeling in a few days - just to make sure it's not any kind of depression coming on

bluemoon2468 · 25/08/2020 15:50

@Quiffy I've heard really mixed things! My midwife said that in her experience early head engagement often means an earlier baby, and that I should be ready with my bags packed from 37 weeks. A Google search and responses on a mumsnet post I posted seem to be very mixed! I guess I won't get my hopes set on an early baby, but I have my fingers crossed 😁

BntTowers · 25/08/2020 16:06

@Buzz22 neither do I. When I was at the hospital they said to get a midwife appointment at 34 weeks but at my 32 week one they refused due to it not being in the GD guidelines. I'm a bit annoyed that there's going to be 4 weeks between seeing someone, so much conflicting information!

@Quiffy glad your appointment went well, it's good that your DH is getting to go to the appointments now, even if he does make terrible jokes!

I have not been able to concentrate today at all. Headache and tiredness is winning.

Our pram hasn't been delivered yet, I've sent a message to the shop asking for an estimated date now so will wait and see.

@MrsD1990 that's exciting! I think the first in our group is due end of September.

@LexiM well done on the bathroom being finished

MrsD1990 · 25/08/2020 16:24

@quiffy baby was early - born at 36 weeks exactly. But seems to be doing well ♥️♥️ great to hear your appointment today went well!

@BntTowers so exciting! Couldn't believe we already had a birth since we're all not due until mid September to early October. Was a lovely positive birth story ♥️

otterbaby · 25/08/2020 16:34

@Quiffy "but I'm just going to suffocate him in his sleep" 😂 that's the correct response to anything DH related these days

BettyBotter1 · 25/08/2020 22:04

@Alana1984 thank you for sharing that NCT doc for dads, I'm not doing NCT because there isn't any uptake for it in our area and I'm moving anyway. That handout looks really helpful.
@Quiffy 'I'll just suffocate him in his sleep', that made me laugh too 😂
@MrsD1990 ah how exciting your group has its first baby! Glad it was a positive story too. @MsSian93 very exciting you have a date and know you will meet baby soon ❤
@bluemoon2468 and @Quiffy glad your appointments went well and @booroo hope growth scan goes well, at least you'll get to see baby on screen again.
I had my 34 week app today and all was well. Baby's head is in my 'brim' which apparently means she's getting into position and no longer back to back so I'm happy with that. My bump is really rounding out at the top part, anyone else experiencing that too?
The wind here is crazy tonight, everything is rattling and cats are all freaked out running round.

HerondaleDucks · 26/08/2020 08:30

Feeling enormous ladies. How is everyone else feeling?

Early Oct Babies Part 8
Treaclepie19 · 26/08/2020 08:32

I'm feeling massive @HerondaleDucks!
You look lovely ❤

Seeing the midwife today for my 34 week appointment. Hoping she will help reassure me on some of the worries Smile (or even better, refer me for a scan)

We're getting there ladies ❤

HerondaleDucks · 26/08/2020 08:39

I had my 34 appointment yesterday. It wasn't my normal midwife and she kept saying about how big my baby is, which I didn't know if that was good or bad and it worried me.
I also asked her about my blood sugar levels as I keep having really low readings and I feel really sick and dizzy. And I have a couple of really high ones which I'm worried about. And she just said she doesn't know anything about diabetes and to call the clinic.
Then when she made my next appointment she said it would be a long one as she'd be booking in my induction. But no one has said that I need one yet so that freaked me out too.

@Treaclepie19 good luck at your appointment today! Hope your midwife doesn't confuse you like mine did!
