@HerondaleDucks I'm going to try and give my baby all the good stuff but I'll likely combi feed like I did last time (I have everything ready anyway!). Because I couldn't breastfeed properly last time (I got hospitalised 10 days post last time and I was too ill to have baby with me, so DH had her! I expressed as much as I could but not being with her wasn't enough I was gutted). I have sort of accepted in my head that I won't be successful this time either but I will try again for the beginning, but bottle was okay in the end so I won't make myself feel bad like I did last time! X

MrsK89 · 15/09/2020 22:53

Ahh I see. To be honest I've never been told about this in any of my pregnancies. First pregnancy I struggled with my supply and felt like such a failure but did persevere and eventually it came in. Going to have a look though see if anything comes out lol. Hope everyone has a good night x

Spark27 · 15/09/2020 23:04

Yeah, I wasnt told anything about harvesting colostrum last time. DD had to go into SCBU for a few days so was fed through a tube. She had a bit of formula at the beginning, but I started expressing and luckily my milk came in pretty much straight away so she could then have that. I dont think I'll harvest this time as with looking after DD and trying to view houses/have viewings I'm pretty busy (and knowing me I'd spill it just before a viewing). I'll just hope it comes through quickly again. But if I start leaking more then the occasional drop I might try and collect rather than waste it. xx

MrsK89 · 15/09/2020 23:08

Feeling a lot of pressure and back pain. Was hoping I would get a good sleep tonight, but the pain is getting worse 😔 just had 2 paracetamol, hoping for the best

BntTowers · 15/09/2020 23:13

I've only really seems about harvesting from the GD Facebook pages and when I had a call from the GD midwife last week she mentioned setting me up with a kit to start after my appointment on Thursday. I will be trying, I've not had any leakage yet, still just some crusty dots, but I'm hopeful I'll be able to collect something.

It's finally cooling down here as it's been raining for a while, hopefully that will mean better sleep.
Although we have just watched the most stressful film... Da 5 Bloods about 5 African American veterans going back to Vietnam to find the body of their leader and gold they buried, it was intense and I do not recommend if you want to get the oxytocin flowing...

Spark27 · 16/09/2020 07:05

OMG, I actually got a good nights sleep! I feel it's such a rarity I need to share the fact 🤣. Only got up for 1 wee. Hope the paracetamol helped @MrsK89 and you managed to get some sleep.

Now, roll on 1000 when grandma comes to collect DD. My nesting plan for the day is to tidy out the airing cupboard x

Quiffy · 16/09/2020 07:32

@HerondaleDucks really sorry about your friend’s behaviour, at least you’ll have some closure now ❤️

@BntTowers love that all your work stuff is away - freedom!

@booroo exciting on sweep! Enjoy your scan today

@blankiesandunicorns the heat is definitely not helping, I’d forgotten how horrific it was as it’s been nice and chilly recently.

@MrsK89 hope you got some rest after all that stress

@Spark27 love a good cupboard tidy - well not doing it but the end result

Horrid sleep here, nightmares and too many pee breaks. Then woke up at 530 with more lovely upset stomach trips, despite spending most of last night in loo. They should really make toilets more comfy 😩 think today will be a sofa day 😴😴

justanothermamma · 16/09/2020 09:36

37 weeks today! Really starting to feel real now! I'm hoping now that the pictures are done that the house will be on the market by Friday, going to view the dream house tomorrow too.. it's all happening!

How is everyone?

I am fully in the no sleep club, I just lie there for hours. I can't decide if it's due to pregnancy or the fact that we have some seriously massive changes happening in life around the time our second baby is due...

Hope everyone is well rested and coping okay.

Hoping to speak to the boss today to confirm that next week will be my last week working from home before mat leave.. aaaaaah.

Treaclepie19 · 16/09/2020 09:38

37 weeks today too! I'm just so teary. Everything sets me off. Think I'm a bit overwhelmed trying to get ready for baby and worried DS will have his world turned upside down right after settling in reception.

Lack of sleep is not helping!

I'm 36 weeks today. For once I actually slept well last night and typically on the day I could lie in and haven't needed to. Sorry some of you are suffering at night, it really is horrible just lying there for hours on end feeling uncomfortable. My husband said I was coughing quite a bit in my sleep, I think its because my chest felt so tight from being out of breath. I was very aware that I was noisy breathing when in bed.

My husband is off for the rest of the week. Today we are taking a day for ourselves and going out, not sure how far I will be able to walk or how long I will last in this sunshine but it will be nice as we haven't done much together.

Tomorrow we are getting bits round the house sorted for baby's arrival. Also got an electrician in hopefully to sort our extractor fan in the main bathroom. Its been an issue for months that we put off doing due to Covid and good weather but we really need it sorted before baby gets here as it's the bathroom with the bath.

Sadly we have been told it's likely my Dad is in his final weeks of life now. To be honest part of me is surprised he is still here because I thought months ago he wouldnt be now but he has been so up and down and battled infections etc. I know he is keen to meet our baby but I just dont know if he will or if he is still whether he will be well enough to notice. Recently I've been saying to my mum I'm convinced he is going to go the week our baby is born, but hopefully that wont be the case. As much as I want him to meet him, I also dont want him to suffer anymore. We are very much just seeing him as much as we can and taking each day as it comes. He loves visitors but cant cope with too many for too long and he also has lots of times we cant come when he has therapy, carers in etc. so I do have to be organised with going over.

LostinAusten2 · 16/09/2020 11:32

So sorry for you and your Dad @LexiM - sounds like you’re doing everything you can, which is amazing on top of managing this pregnancy ❤️

otterbaby · 16/09/2020 11:47

@LexiM my husband has nicknamed me Darth Vader because my mouth-breathing is out of control Grin

You're so strong for going through this while pregnant. It's such a difficult thing to deal with, let alone during Covid and while trying to enjoy your pregnancy. It sounds like you love him so much and will make sure that your baby knows who his grandad was. Not to intrude, but I have a friend whose dad passed away a few months ago and she's expecting a week before me. She had a little teddy bear made out of one of his shirts for the baby. That might be a lovely little keepsake and he might really like seeing that before he passes. Sending you lots of love and support x

Treacle81 · 16/09/2020 12:48

Hi girls. @HerondaleDucks that is amazing, now I know why they call it liquid gold, aren't our bodies just incredible, actually blows my mind when you think of what they are creating! Absolutely gutted, I bought 2nd hand travel system as know it will be my last baby, took the covers off carseat and pram to wash, putting back on when noticed that there was a part missing. The seller had stuck the bottom part of the cushion onto the headrest so we didn't notice anything but basically the full head part is missing. Gutted abs raging at myself for not seeing it sooner. Paid £550 so wasn't buttons. I bough a hugger but don't think that'll be enough as looks like a physical car seat oaet us missing and you can see polystyrene 😢. I'll send pics...

Treacle81 · 16/09/2020 12:52

@LexiM so sorry to hear that, I pray that he is there to see your baby ❤️xx

Treacle81 · 16/09/2020 12:54

I'm not well at all, not slept last 2 nights, gone 2 bed early as shattered , not got to sleep till midnight then up three or four times. Got rotten cold and throat is red raw. With that now car seat issues, could just cry all day 😭xx

otterbaby · 16/09/2020 13:59

@Treacle81 ahhh what a nightmare ☹️ I'm guessing it's much too late to mention it to the seller? Can it be used at all or no? Sounds like you need a chill day if you can, get some tea and just stay in pajamas all day!

I'm sooo annoyed - my town has just announced that they're letting 1,000 spectators into a football game this weekend. Yet if I end up having a hospital birth due to being induced, my husband only gets to stay an hour after and NO visiting whatsoever until I'm discharged. 3 months ago I was feeling so optimistic about my birth and now I'm just dreading it. The only experience I have of being induced was my TFMR and I'm having serious palpitations thinking about having to go through it all alone 😢

NWnature · 16/09/2020 14:02

@LexiM you are being so strong. I love @otterbaby suggestion of the teddy.

@Treacle81 that is SO annoying!!! Have you contacted the seller? Could you look on ebay just for the insert maybe? Sending hugs as I know how frustrating that would be. Don't cry x

@HerondaleDucks so impressed by the colustrum, I am going to give it a try this weekend when I get to 37 weeks.

On the bowel front, I seem to have joined everyone with the weirdness, had a few days of constipation then a reversal!!! I'd much prefer the latter if I'm honest!

My DH is working from the office today so I didn't make the usual healthy lunch, ate really plain pasta followed by mars icecream and minestrals - now feel sooo ill.

Spark27 · 16/09/2020 14:09

So sorry to hear your news @LexiM. You're being so strong at such a difficult time. Sending lots of love to you and the family.

Thats really annoying @Treacle81. Sounds like it was deliberately hidden. And car seats and safety is so important. It's not on. I second looking around on ebay and seeing if you can get what you need there. Extra faff you really dont need though.

I've been full on nesting. Tidied out my airing cupboard. Love it. Need to stop throwing things away now until the bin is emptied tomorrow 😅. Wrapped up all DD's birthday presents too as shes 3 two days after my EDD. Want to be ready just in case. My mums bringing her home at 1500 so might just chill and eat all the snacks before then x

justanothermamma · 16/09/2020 14:13

@LexiM You are so brave. I hope so much that your Dad will meet your little one. What a lovely suggestion @otterbaby!

@Treacle81 Oh my goodness, what a nightmare!! Can you contact the seller? I got warned really early on not to buy any second hand car seats in case they had been involved in any accidents and the seller hadn't disclosed it.

@otterbaby My hopsital is the same, it's terrifying that our births are being tainted this way when they should be a special time. But we can go hunting in large groups though, lucky us?!

@NWnature All I want to eat is ice 😂.

NWnature · 16/09/2020 14:34

@justanothermamma thats a craving I need!!!! I'm such a heffalump

blankiesandunicorns · 16/09/2020 14:37

@LexiM that is so terribly sad. You and your poor family 😢

@Treacle81 I am fuming for you, that's disgusting someone would do that!

Thanks @HerondaleDucks I will have a look at those and order myself a kit!

Still no sleep here, I'm going to stay at my mums tonight as I'm keeping DH awake now not being able to sleep and he's working loads, plus we're having new stairs fitted in our house and will only have a ladder tonight to get up and down!

justanothermamma · 16/09/2020 14:44

@NWnature Honestly it's such a weird craving! Just want ice all the time!! It's the most water I have ever consumed. I ended up buying an ice machine because I used all the freezer ice too quickly 🙈.

@blankiesandunicorns That sounds like a sensible plan!

I love how many of us are currently going through ridiculous things at one of the most stressful times of our lives. Building work, moving etc etc. 😂

MrsK89 · 16/09/2020 15:05

Sorry to hear about your dad @LexiM, if you want to talk send me a message, I went through the same thing last summer and it was the hardest thing I did, seeing my dad just get weaker. He was such an independent man his whole life.

I slept somehow the paracetamol worked, but I've been getting pains all day, don't think baby will hold on much longer. I'm just hoping for the weekend so childcare is sorted x
