Any plus size mamas to be out there?

Hi

Is there any ladies who are plus size and expecting? I’m a size 22 and my bmi is 48. I’m only 4wks 3days along but wondered how you’re feeling? This is baby #3 but I was a couple of stone lighter with my last 2. I’m already struggling with my clothes because my boobs have gone up a full cup size already and I feel a bit down about the way I look. 😩 I’m also conscious that I won’t really have a baby bump until I’m at least a few months along because I have a big tummy.

And an update on the line progression I was worried about... Progression is looking really good 😊 I was actually super shocked to see the line so dark yesterday. My week indicator tests arrived yesterday afternoon so I did one of those too. I know i don't need to test so much but as I'm super early still and had a CP last time, seeing the line get darker is super reassuring for me.
😊💕

@Sausage1990 @Sheera1 @Teapotdespot
It's really sad when I think about how my older sister has had such a difficult relationship with food and I've gone the same way! From the ages of 14-18 I did dance as subjects in school and college and yet I ate very little but she still tried making me do the 5:2 diet, the fasting thing?
It's so hard because since I was very young she's worked so she fed me chicken nuggets and chips and then wondered why I didn't want to eat veggies! I'm not even lying when I say from 6-13yo I never say veg in our house! She's always been on some sort of diet.

I know she'll make comments all through my pregnancy especially as it's my first! I wouldn't say I eat atrociously! I just don't have a great metabolism! The thing that annoys me is every woman in my family gets compared to each other, so my auntie compares me to cousins etc!
I'm just not the type of person that can enjoy life on a strict diet! It's boring!

Hope you're all enjoying your days today! Sorry for hijacking the thread with DM issues haha

It's so stupidly hot, thunderstorms here today and I'm still melting.

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow and I am so so nervous. I'm really worried something is going to be wrong

Hey!! Im 32 weeks pregnant with twins. This is my 2nd pregnancy. I was 121kg, BMI 39.1 at my booking appointment. I am now seriously struggling :( no idea what I weigh as I really petrified to see what my weight is. Stairs are almost impossible and even just walking to the toilet is a challenge. I'm even struggling to wipe myself after going for a wee!! And don't get me started on finding mat clothes :(

I wish I could tell me past self to lose weight before getting pregnant again coz this is no fun.

I wish you all the best our there ladies!

That’s fantastic news @TakeMeToYourLiar how exciting! I have an early scan booked for a week tomorrow just to check little bean is in the right place after having some left sided abdominal pain. Not severe pain but just want some reassurance.

Hi everyone 👋🏻 This seems like a really welcoming thread. Currently 22 weeks, BMI of 35 and 5 foot 2 🙄

Everything has been ok so far. Was on 5mg of folic acid and am on 150mg of aspirin as my Mum had pre eclampsia with me. That’s scares me a bit but BP has been fine so far. Trying to exercise 3 times a week not for weight but for BP and trying to ward off GDM (have my GTT in a few weeks).

I found the site Big Birthers quite useful as it talks a lot about the actual risks of things and managing those conversations. No one has mentioned anything but I was worried about it at the start.

I am wondering if I would need an extra growth scan or consultant appt with my BMI. Nothing has been mentioned. Does anyone have any experience have any experience?

Hope you’re all good and enjoying the cooler weather!

Hello lovely mamas to be!

I'm 9+6 weeks, and my first scan is in 2 weeks.

I'm 5ft3, size 16-18 and BMI was 36 at my screening appt. I was warned about risks and will be given extra folic acid as well as aspirin in second tri to reduce risk of GD. Luckily the midwife hasn't been too bad about it, and I'm trying to remain hopeful despite the risks.

I have a bit of a B-belly too so I'm praying for a decent bump! My SIL is bigger than me and was when she was pregnant. The didn't get much of a bump tbh, but she went on to have two healthy babies, so I'm hopeful.

DH and I were TTC for about a year, I have PCOS so I'm feeling quite lucky it was only a year really. Definitely getting all the symptoms, though thankfully no sickness, just nausea!

I'm getting more nervous as the scan gets closer, but I'm also just impatient to get the scan to make sure baby actually exists and is doing okay! 🤞🏻

Good morning. I am 18 to 20 in size. And have a bmi of 41 or 43. This is my 5th baby. I like being curvy but hoping to go back down to a 14 after I have this baby. Would really like to get back to the size I was when I first met my hubby.

Pregnant with 5th child also. Due in 5 weeks, God willing .

@BabyC21 hello! I’m 37+3 and had a BMI of 32 at my booking apt (5ft7 and size 16/18). Everything has luckily been fine, I have an extra growth scan next week (standard at my trust is just scans at 12 and 20 weeks) as baby was measuring big at 20 weeks but that’s because of baby’s size not mine (@LJMilkTea mentioned wondering about extra scans). It was a bit hard when risks were mentioned a few times as they actively don’t want you to lose weight when pregnant so you just have to listen to ‘here are all the dangers’ with 0 things you can do about it but everyone was very non-judgemental about it, just clear and factual. I am on 5mg folic acid but otherwise nothing else different. There have been questions about whether I’ll be ‘a candidate’ for the birth centre because of my BMI but haven’t had a no yet, hoping if baby is big at next week’s scan that doesn’t stop me. I was feeling really bad at the start about not getting a ‘proper’ bump and just looking fat rather than pregnant (which obviously doesn’t matter anyway), but around 6 months it did suddenly turn into a clear bump though I’m sometimes still self conscious. I was reminded that all the risks of being pregnant with a higher BMI are risks that women at any weight can have too, and GD etc is manageable as long as it’s found. Sure you and baby will be grand, @babyc21! :)

Hi ladies! I’m doing well, I’m 24+2 now and baby is very healthy. I’ve gained just over a stone but I’m trying not to let it bother me. I have 2 extra growth scans at 28 and 34 weeks to check baby isn’t getting too big. Have been offered a stretch and sweep at 38 and 39 weeks. Also offered to be induced at 40 weeks to stop baby getting too big. Everyone has been really kind to me even though I’m very obese (bmi 52) and it hasn’t affected my pregnancy at all.

Glad everyone's doing well. I have birth two weeks ago yesterday via c section after developing pre eclampsia at 41+3. Section was lovely, all the staff were wonderful and respectful and the moment they placed DS on my chest was the most incredible moment of my life.

I have to put a maternity pad over my incision after I took the dressing off so it stays dry under my apron belly, and blood thinning injections for six weeks but apart from that everything else is standard.

Squishy pics since I can't show him off to people in real life at the moment!

Congratulations @addler he's adorable!

Hi all, hope it's not too late to join! Currently about 5 weeks with my second. Size 20/22 and bmi of 40. My BMI was around 35 at the start of my last pregnancy so feeling more anxious with it being over 40 this time! Is there anything additional that they might do with me having a higher BMI this time? I had growth scans, GD test, higher dose folic acid and aspirin last time!
Hope you are all well and had a nice Christmas!
