Any plus size mamas to be out there?

Hi

Is there any ladies who are plus size and expecting? I’m a size 22 and my bmi is 48. I’m only 4wks 3days along but wondered how you’re feeling? This is baby #3 but I was a couple of stone lighter with my last 2. I’m already struggling with my clothes because my boobs have gone up a full cup size already and I feel a bit down about the way I look. 😩 I’m also conscious that I won’t really have a baby bump until I’m at least a few months along because I have a big tummy.

@WatchOutLurkerAbout thank you for that, it did worry me that if i didn't get rid of some weight I'd never know if I was or not.

@threecatsandcounting I have the same worry that I won't have a bump, I feel like I'm slowly looking less like a B in the tummy area and more of a collapsed D shape haha

WatchOutLurkerAbout · 09/08/2020 09:11

For those of you worried about a bump this is a month before i popped with my son. I had a bump from about 15 weeks and it's all down to how baby sits as to what shape your bump is so don't blame it on your weight! My son had his butt up in my ribs my whole pregnancy so nice and round bump. My friend who is skinny as all hell had her daughter wrapped lengthways so she had the weirdest wonky little bump. Try not to worry about it and just learn to love your bump because it'll always tell you about your baby.

@WatchOutLurkerAbout I might just be a bit emotional today but that made me tear up a bit, it's something I've always struggled with but I'm trying to think that my body will be making little hands and feet so It doesn't matter about the way it looks!

Sausage1990 · 09/08/2020 14:29

Hi ladies can I join? I had a BFP this morning at 12dpo.
DH & I have been ttc #1 for 8 months but this is only cycle 6 as I had a few long cycles in the middle due to stress.
I'm 30yrs old, Bmi is about 37 and I wear clothes size 18, occ 20 for my boobs lol.
I'm glad I found the group because it's reassuring to have a like minded group who have similar worries about bumps and weight being the main topic of discussion.

Just wanted to pop in an say Hi 👋🏻

BronzeSilverGold13 · 09/08/2020 14:44

@Sausage1990 Congratulations! I feel like this group will help to battle a lot of my anxieties

Foreverbaffled · 09/08/2020 14:48

Hi everyone, can I join too? I’m 23 weeks pregnant with my second baby. Booking in BMI was 35 and have had no issues so far. I am a bit concerned that at my weight they only want me to gain a max of 21lb in whole pregnancy... I’ve gained 26 already. Trying not to get too obsessed about it.

Anyway wishing you all well and here’s to bigger but healthy pregnancies Flowers

Foreverbaffled · 09/08/2020 14:48

Oh and congrats @BronzeSilverGold13 what lovely news :)

JLM1008 · 09/08/2020 15:51

I’m so pleased that we can all support each other through our plus size pregnancies! 😘 I’ll be 5 weeks on Tuesday with dc #3. Lots of cramping atm not unbearable though just enough for me to notice it. I showed a lot with my son (dc2) but he was a big boy! 9lb 1oz 😳 (pic with the spotty dress). With my daughter I didn’t show as much (dc1) she was only 7lb 7oz though. I guess we’ll see what happens with this one! Congratulations to any other bfp’s! ❤️

Lovely bump photos @JLM1008 :)

I’m much bigger at this stage second time round. I have a bit of a B-bump which makes me self conscious but seems to be popping out a bit more evenly now.

Sausage1990 · 09/08/2020 17:00

@jlm1008 thank you for sharing your bump photos 💕 Ive had cramps on an off all day the last few days and it makes me worry af is going to come. That's kinda what it feels like but I just got the BFP this morning. How long did the mild cramps last before? This is my 1st so I don't know what to expect really so any advice would be much appreciated xx

WatchOutLurkerAbout · 09/08/2020 17:31

@BronzeSilverGold13 I get it I was worried the whole time I was pregnant. It also comes down to your placenta too. My placenta was at my front which isn't typical so that had an impact as well. Bumps will be what they'll be and it's just stories for you when baby is born. I still tap my little boys butt when he's stressed and it calms Him down and I'm sure it's because he spent close to 6 months with his butt pressed right up into my diaphragm so had that constantly flexing and my heart beat etc. It was bloody painful but he's a stubborn sod and never moved lol.

Hi @Sausage1990 congrats on your bfp!

Hi @Foreverbaffled try not to worry too much as long as your keeping active and eating as well as you can then you're doing the best that you can and no one can ask for more!

I know how nerve wracking cramps can be, just look after yourselves as well as you can, that's all you can do! I've had too many pregnancies before 12 weeks so I totally get the worry and fear but just keep your heads up and most likely it will be fine.

Sheera1 · 09/08/2020 17:36

Hi. I am a size 24 and BMI of 47 I think. I am 25 weeks now with my 2nd but 10 years apart and I am also over 40 so I get age/weight a lot. I am doing fine. My bump is definitely much bigger sooner this time. My first pregnancy I was the same weight and had a dream pregnancy tbh. The labour was not great but my induction didn't progress and the cord was wrapped so have an emergency section. No time to really worry about surgery and weight. It went fine if a bit stressful under the circumstances but I healed fine too. I am having a planned section this time which is my choice but was also recommended due to my labour. No one has mentioned any weight risks tbh.

I am taking aspirin and will have clexane injections from 28 week as I tick 3 moderate pre-eclampsia risks and EVT risk (combination of age, weight and long gap in pregnancy).

I was pretty sick for the first trimester this time but I have a hunch this one is a girl hence 🤢 but could be due to age and a new partner. Since then I have been fine. Def feel less mobile than 10 yes ago and my bump feels huge, but otherwise I am fine. BP is textbook.

I have had some family members commenting but my age is more the factor. I was talking about a scary film we watched last night (Host well worth a watch if you like really scary films) and my dad commented today "I don't think you should be watching these films just now" 😂

FreyaFirstTimeMum · 09/08/2020 18:13

I’m 33 weeks pregnant, BMI of 34 and was in 14/16 clothing (pre-pregnancy). Currently wearing size 16 maternity clothing. Worst thing for me is my boobs! I was a 36F before now at a 38GG ... cant wait to see what their like come breastfeeding Confused

I have not weighed myself my entire pregnancy! I know it will impact my mental health even if I see a healthy gain so have decided I will weigh myself the day I go into labour - just to see 😂

I’ve not had my weight mentioned throughout! Even at my booking appointment, my midwife just said I’d need a higher folic acid perscription due to BMI but never felt any judgement!

Took me a while to “pop” but I am quite tall so baby had loads of room... I popped more at 5 months... and at 8 months I’m feeling huge!

I’ve not had any GD tests, but I may need to as at 31 weeks I was measuring 4 weeks ahead! They’ll be checking measurements/potentially growth scan at 34 week so expect of still big they would need to test! She was measuring normal until then!

BronzeSilverGold13 · 09/08/2020 18:48

@JLM1008 I love those dresses! I'm lucky that if I've worked it out right I'll be due April so the biggest part of pregnancy will be in winter so I'll be able to have comfy jumpers but I do love a nice dress!

@WatchOutLurkerAbout that's such a nice thing, a little connection for you and DS! Tbh I'm not all that bothered if my body changes too much I'll have made a life!

Sheera1 · 09/08/2020 23:04

Loving the bump pics. Here are mine. These first two are my first and two weeks overdue. He was 9 pounds 4 by the time we got him out. He was not for it at all. Looked fine under clothes but look ready to burst bump out.

So current bump at 25 + 3 weeks. I popped out all high bump above my belly button (think ds stretched me there so just popped back). Got a bit of a B bump but slowly forming one. My top bump is massive already. Technically my 3rd pregnancy as I had an mmc at 12 weeks almost 3 yrs ago. I am hoping the bottom just fills out and the top stays the same. Imagine a lot is bloating. Pic 1 is front view which looks ok, but side view is massive. My shape is also different now older and seem to carry more weight on my ass than I used too 🤦‍♀️😁. And yes my do is a lucky skinny sod. He has an active job and all muscle tone not an ounch of fat on him anywhere. Grrr. 😁. Think we are Jack Spratt and his wife!

Sheera1 · 09/08/2020 23:10

Oh and my boobs are out of control too 😬😁

BronzeSilverGold13 · 10/08/2020 07:47

@Sheera1 those are such lovely pictures, I carry most of my weight in the front but I've always had big hips and a big bum, so who knows where I'll put the weight on in pregnancy! My DP is stick thin but eats like a horse it's very annoying as I can walk past a cake shop and put on a stone just from seeing the cake haha x

Addler · 10/08/2020 12:18

Hello, I was a size 18/20 pre pregnancy. I still don't really look that pregnant and I'm 24 weeks. I just look like I've had too much lockdown snacking.

I've also got the added joy of a huge apron belly as I lost a lot of weight in the last couple of years, so I've had people tell me I must be having a girl as I'm carrying so low. Nope, no I'm not that, that's just my gunt Hmm

Darcy86 · 10/08/2020 15:55

Some lovely pics here. I am 12+3 with my first, size 18-20 and a shortie too so BMI is 40. Have been low risk on everything except BMI, but they've put some extra appointments in for me just to monitor me I think and I've also been recommended low dose aspirin. Blood pressure has been fine though.

It's early days but I'm sure my bump is growing already. Obviously I had a decent starting point but my stomach definitely sticks out more higher up than it used to. Could be bloat of course! Am hoping it will pop out a bit more in the next few weeks though as it does just look like I've chucked on even more weight at the moment.

SarahFrances89 · 10/08/2020 18:27

Hello! I'm 20 weeks with my first, 5 ft 7 and nearly 15 stone Sad so have a BMI of around 30. I've not had a great time of it so far and am really, really sad about the fact I think I'm never going to really 'look' pregnant, just fatter. My belly is rounded now so sometimes I think it's a bump but only if you're looking for it, with my bingo wings / huge legs / big belly anyway to anyone else I just look (even) fatter. I've been really anxious most of the time anyway and quite down and found it hard for the pregnancy to feel 'real', and this feels like another way it's somehow fake or not valid. I'm really glad to have found this thread as been looking for stuff about being fat and pregnant and struggling. I think ultimately I'll just have to let it go and accept whatever I'm going to look like but it does feel pretty shitty, especially as I don't feel particularly safe going swimming etc. even though places are open now. Anyway, don't really have much of a point just appreciate you ladies talking about it and hope you're all well!

JLM1008 · 11/08/2020 08:29

Hello plus size mummies!

I am getting quite a few Cramps/pains now I’m only 5 weeks. Sometimes they are in the middle and sometimes to the left hand side. Having read about it online it says it could be ectopic? But I’ve had no bleeding and the cramping is only uncomfortable not painful. Is this a case of dr google misdiagnosing?

Thanks

Sausage1990 · 11/08/2020 08:54

@jlm1008 good morning... I think the symptoms of ectopic need to be observed so see how you go but if the discomfort gets worse, becomes more 1 sided or maybe just doesn't improve in the next day or so then I'd contact the early pregnancy unit for reassurance and a check. That's what I'd do anyway. It could be normal cramps but I wouldn't want to dismiss it for too long just incase. Xx

Sausage1990 · 11/08/2020 08:59

How are you ladies getting on?

I am keen to see some test line progression for reassurance as im still so early - 4 weeks today. I did a frer on 12dpo and 13dpo which came out the same so I'm guna wait now until until 16dpo before doing anotjer frer. But I did an ic today as well as the last 2 days and I can't see any progression. They just look the same. It's making me worry a bit tbh.

I had a chemical pregnancy in Jan after a positive on 31st Dec at 13dpo and that line got paler until about 18dpo when it was negative then af arrived the next day. This lack of progression is making me so apprehensive. I can't help feel this isn't going well and it will be a chemical loss too. Xx

Addler · 11/08/2020 09:03

@JLM1008 I've had similar and also had a scan to rule out ectopic as had some bleeding, but all fine. They think it was most likely ovarian pain as I have PCOS and it felt in a very similar place.
