Waters breaking but midwives say it hasn’t...?

I felt my waters breaking this morning (or what I thought was) three gushes of clear liquid in short succession on the bathroom floor. Pretty sure it wasn’t urine as I couldn’t see where it went at first to clear it up. Phone the triage unit and they had me up there to check, as I had no contractions. After a speculum examination they think it was just discharge. But discharge has never come out like that or ran down my leg as such (sorry tmi).

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there any chance they are wrong? I felt so convinced and I feel like I know my own body but they are the professionals of course. I was so excited at the thought that contractions and then labour might be close but now I feel back to square one.

I might ask triple check with them about the waters thing, OP. It's now been well over the 24 hours and the fact that your contractions began so soon afterwards does suggest that the hindwaters went.

Good luck!

Congratulations Flowers and loving Ivy for her name.

Birdy1991 · 06/08/2020 17:28

Thanks everyone.
I had an emergency caserean as I wouldn’t dilated any more than 4cm but contractions were ridiculously painful but poor Ivy was really distressed so it was the best thing for her. My partner has just left and isn’t allowed back, feel emotional about it, bloody covid!
Also having a catheter and bleeding all over the bed is not fun on a shared ward!
