Thanks guys. If I make it to the weekend it'll be 4 weeks since ovulation, so I may download it then.

I've made some enquiries today, so I know who to contact when/if we're ready for private tests and scans.

Need to call the NHS to sort booking in apt and early scan at the hospital (8 weeks). Nervous about booking too soon!

lucieloos · 10/11/2020 16:25

That's exciting @CC81 you should be between 6-7 weeks then so I would call up about your booking in appt. I contacted them about mine at 6 weeks and have my first midwife appt (over the phone) for booking in tomorrow. I've also just booked my nipt test for 2 weeks time. My husband is more open to finding out the sex this time for practical reasons but I really don't know what to do. I did enjoy the surprise of the first two but I kind of want to know too and it would make life easier!

M4v3r1ck · 11/11/2020 11:03

@lucieloos excellent! So glad the scan went well! 😍

@CC81 I phoned my GP and they told me to self-refer to maternity, so I'm now booked in for a midwife appointment in early Dec then a 12-week scan at the end of Dec. I assume the early scans are private?

Will need to check out pregnancy+ app! I've been logging my symptoms on Ovia pregnancy. Also downloaded what to expect and Emma's diary apps for extra info! 😃

Sunbird24 · 11/11/2020 11:33

@M4v3r1ck my 8 wk scan next week is with the ivf clinic, after that I’m on my own! Booking appt with the midwife is the day after though.

mouldygrapes · 11/11/2020 18:20

12 weeks scan all seems ok, little wriggler in there who didn’t want to stop doing yoga poses and show us his or her feet.
I am somewhat appalled by how much weight I’ve put on (pandemic + pregnancy) and not quite sure how to tackle it

CC81 · 11/11/2020 19:11

Hi @M4v3r1ck - Yeah, I'll probably ring tomorrow to book first appointments. I haven't wanted to do it until I'm closer to the 6-week mark (and thus a teeny bit more confident).

For my first child it was booking in at 8 weeks, NIPT at 10 weeks (private) and scan at 12 weeks.

This time I'll have a scan at 8 weeks because I was referred to the fertility team. But may also do some extra private ones, for reassurance! I'm so worried there'll be problems. I just can't quite believe it.

ALSO... are you finding the timings in the run-up to Christmas an unwelcome pressure? I am!!! Sad

Because I'm really anxious about this pregnancy (and future conception odds), I'm struggling with the thought of all this waiting while I'm trying to make the festive season nice for my 3-year-old.

And then trying to avoid people, trying to avoid family members noticing something is up, etc. I'm secretly hoping lockdown isn't lengthened! Haha.

If only I could fast forward to 12 weeks. Or at least have a bloody drink (or five)! ConfusedWine

CC81 · 11/11/2020 21:09

lockdown is lengthened, I mean!

CC81 · 11/11/2020 21:37

@mouldygrapes - So glad your scan went well (except for the awkward posing!). Smile

I may need to get my maternity clothes out again soon. I feel huge!

Honeydukesmum · 12/11/2020 19:10

And breathe .. harmony and nuchal bloods back all normal

And after 2 girls it’s a

Boy 💙 in shock as I’d already been calling ‘her’ name 😂 So happy though and here’s to 6 months of name decisions 🤪

Sunbird24 · 12/11/2020 19:12

Amazing @Honeydukesmum! Hope you’ve got some boy names you like already!

Honeydukesmum · 12/11/2020 19:17

Aww thank you .. a few but I never believed we would need them 😂 it took 2 weeks to name our youngest so in no rush. Just got to ‘move on’ from Cecily which would have 100% been the girls name 🙈

Homassy · 12/11/2020 21:29

Congratulations @Honeydukesmum. Great news about the results. There’s always Cecil Grin

CC81 · 12/11/2020 22:57

Fab news all round, @Honeydukesmum Smile

And yes, as @Homassy says, there is always Cecil... Wink

lucieloos · 12/11/2020 23:18

That must be such a relief @Honeydukesmum. I have my nipt test booked for 2 weeks time and I'm really dreading it. What if it all goes wrong here given my age. It's very scary.

CC81 · 13/11/2020 07:52

@lucieloos - I have similar worries. How old are you?

I'm two weeks behind you, I think... I've now booked my 8-week scan and midwife appointment (in exactly two weeks).

Then it's the wait for the NIPT. The results take a further week and I'll get them just a few days before Christmas. I really, really wish it could be done sooner!

lucieloos · 13/11/2020 08:30

I'm 41 so prob quite a bit older than most and the risks are higher.

Well done on getting everything booked in. Hope the time passes quickly and everything works out for us.

Honeydukesmum · 13/11/2020 08:51

Ahh I wrote a reply and it not posted

@luciloos I will be thinking of you. It’s definitely a stressful wait. I will be 41 when this wee man appears. I was 37 and 39 last time so in end didn’t have harmony but this time I felt it was beneficial.

And Cecil could be an option ( Cecily was from Cecily Parsons nursery rhymes) but I feel we should may be give him his ‘own’ name . My partner still in shock so I think will leave it a little longer to really look ( although the name list sites may be perused 🙈)

Sunbird24 · 13/11/2020 09:09

@lucieloos and @CC81 I think I’m in between you two, my 8 week scan is on Wednesday.

How did you get your NIPT booked? I’m nearly 43 and think it’s probably a good idea for me too...

lucieloos · 13/11/2020 09:27

@Sunbird24 I just rang my local clinic and booked it in. Do a google search and you can find places near you that offer it.

I have nipt on 27th and then 12 week scan on 8th Dec. Hopefully if they all go ok I can start to relax a bit.

Honeydukesmum · 13/11/2020 09:59

I looked for places where they also do a full nuchal/anatomy check along side the NIPT and ideally had a week turnaround with results instead of 2 weeks. If few places worth checking what they offer.

lucieloos · 13/11/2020 10:09

@Honeydukesmum I've been advised not to have nuchal test as well as often the results can conflict and the nipt is much more accurate so would over rule the nuchal anyway.

CC81 · 13/11/2020 10:12

I've recently turned 39 - but as I have a low egg reserve, I worry that means my ovarian function is 'old' for my age, if you see what I mean.

It's important for us all to remember that while the risk of abnormalities is higher with increased age, the odds are still on our side. Doesn't make the waiting or worry any easier, though!

That's why I'm probably going a bit overboard with scans etc. I'm considering having a 7-week private scan before the 8-week NHS scan! Just to check it's in the right place, at least.

My worst-case scenarios are either that something goes wrong (because it's simply not meant to be) - or I get bad NIPT news a few days before Christmas and then have to see family while dealing with that. We haven't told anyone anything about our situation, so I think we'd probably continue that way. It'd make it even more complicated/painful to involve others.

With my first child I wasn't this anxious! But now I know more about what can go wrong (mainly through friends' experiences etc). So I'm really wary.

Honeydukesmum · 13/11/2020 10:15

I suspect it one of those different views of providers - I was advised to still have it as can indicate other things , chance to check anatomy and the nuchal bloods look at Papp - a etc. Tbf it was still the harmony I was personally most relying on moving forward

lucieloos · 13/11/2020 11:36

@Honeydukesmum yes I was still be having the 20 week anatomy check. It was just the nuchal test that the nhs didn't recommend as the first course of action if that is high is normally to get a nipt anyway.

Sunbird24 · 13/11/2020 11:44

Looks like this is my closest: www.ruh.nhs.uk/patients/services/maternity/SAFE.asp
I’ll speak to the midwife about it next week. Thank you!
